Genesis 29

Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.പിന്നെ യാക്കോബ് പ്രയാണം ചെയ്തു കിഴക്കരുടെ ദേശത്തു എത്തി.

And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well's mouth.അവൻ വെളിൻ പ്രദേശത്തു ഒരു കിണർ കണ്ടു. അതിന്നരികെ മൂന്നു ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടം കിടക്കുന്നു. ആ കിണറ്റിൽനിന്നു ആയിരുന്നു ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു; എന്നാൽ കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കലുള്ള കല്ലു വലുതായിരുന്നു.

And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place.ആ സ്ഥലത്തു കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെ കൂടുകയും അവർ കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കൽനിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടി ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കയും കല്ലു കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായക്ക്ൽ അതിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു തന്നേ തിരികെ വെക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be all of you? And they said, Of Haran are we.യാക്കോബ് അവരോടു: സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങൾ എവിടുത്തുകാർ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഞങ്ങൾ ഹാരാന്യർ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said unto them, Know all of you Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.അവൻ അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ നാഹോരിന്റെ മകനായ ലാബാനെ അറിയുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: അറിയും എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter comes with the sheep.അവൻ അവരോടു: അവൻ സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. സുഖം തന്നേ; അവന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേൽ അതാ ആടുകളോടു കൂടെ വരുന്നു എന്നു അവർ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water all of you the sheep, and go and feed them.പകൽ ഇനിയും വളരെയുണ്ടല്ലോ; കൂട്ടം ഒന്നിച്ചു കൂടുന്ന നേരമായിട്ടില്ല; ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി തീറ്റുവിൻ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു

And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.അവർ: കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെയും കൂടുവോളം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വഹിയാ; അവർ കിണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കൽനിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടും; പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങൾ ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And while he yet spoke with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep; for she kept them.അവൻ അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ റാഹേൽ തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകളോടുകൂടെ വന്നു. അവളായിരുന്നു അവയെ മേയിച്ചുവന്നതു.

And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേലിനെയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളെയും കണ്ടപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് അടുത്തു ചെന്നു കണറ്റിന്റെ വായ്ക്കൽനിന്നു കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടി, അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു.

And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ ചുംബിച്ചു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son: and she ran and told her father.താൻ അവളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ സഹോദരൻ എന്നും റിബെക്കയുടെ മകനെന്നും യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൾ ഓടിച്ചെന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.ലാബാൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരിയുടെ മകനായ യാക്കോബിന്റെ വസ്തുത കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവനെ എതിരേല്പാൻ ഓടിച്ചെന്നു അവനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു ചുംബിച്ചു വീട്ടിൽ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവൻ ലാബാനോടു വിവരം ഒക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞു.

And Laban said to him, Surely you are my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.ലാബാൻ അവനോടു: നീ എന്റെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും തന്നേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ ഒരു മാസകാലം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പാർത്തു.

And Laban said unto Jacob, Because you are my brother, should you therefore serve me for nothing? tell me, what shall your wages be?പിന്നെ ലാബാൻ യാക്കോബിനോടു: നീ എന്റെ സഹോദരനാകകൊണ്ടു വെറുതെ എന്നെ സേവിക്കേണമോ? നിനക്കു എന്തു പ്രതിഫലം വേണം? എന്നോടു പറക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.എന്നാൽ ലാബാന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു: മൂത്തവൾക്കു ലേയാ എന്നും ഇളയവൾക്കു റാഹേൽ എന്നും പേർ.

Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.ലേയയുടെ കണ്ണു ശോഭ കുറഞ്ഞതായിരുന്നു; റാഹേലോ സുന്ദരിയും മനോഹരരൂപിണിയും ആയിരുന്നു.

And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter.യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു; നിന്റെ ഇളയമകൾ റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ ഏഴു സംവത്സരം നിന്നെ സേവിക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Laban said, It is better that I give her to you, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.അതിന്നു ലാബാൻ: ഞാൻ അവളെ അന്യപുരുഷന്നുകൊടുക്കുന്നതിലും നിനക്കു തരുന്നതു നല്ലതു; എന്നോടുകൂടെ പാർക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.അങ്ങനെ യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഏഴു സംവത്സരം സേവ ചെയ്തു; അവൻ അവളെ സ്നേഹിക്കകൊണ്ടു അതു അവന്നു അല്പകാലം പോലെ തോന്നി.

And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.അനന്തരം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോടു: എന്റെ സമയം തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കയാൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുവാൻ അവളെ തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.അപ്പോൾ ലാബാൻ ആ സ്ഥലത്തെ ജനങ്ങളെ എല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.എന്നാൽ രാത്രിയിൽ അവൻ തന്റെ മകൾ ലേയയെ കൂട്ടി അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടു പോയി ആക്കി; അവൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.ലാബാൻ തന്റെ മകൾ ലേയെക്കു തന്റെ ദാസി സില്പയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.

And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this you have done unto me? did not I serve with you for Rachel? wherefore then have you misled me?നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോൾ അതു ലേയാ എന്നു കണ്ടു അവൻ ലാബാനോടു: നീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? റാഹേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി അല്ലയോ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സേവിച്ചതു? നീ എന്തിന്നു എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁶

And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.അതിന്നു ലാബാൻ: മൂത്തവൾക്കു മുമ്പെ ഇളയവളെ കൊടുക്ക ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദിക്കിൽ നടപ്പില്ല.

²⁷

Fulfill her week, and we will give you this also for the service which you shall serve with me yet seven other years.ഇവളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിവർത്തിക്ക; എന്നാൽ നീ ഇനിയും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെയ്യുന്ന സേവെക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞങ്ങൾ അവളെയും നിനക്കു തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.യാക്കോബ് അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു, അവളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം നിവർത്തിച്ചു; അവൻ തന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേലിനെയും അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.തന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേലിന്നു ലാബാൻ തന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.

And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.അവൻ റാഹേലിന്റെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു; റാഹേലിനെ ലേയയെക്കാൾ അധികം സ്നേഹിച്ചു; പിന്നെയും ഏഴു സംവത്സരം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ സേവചെയ്തു.

And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.ലേയാ അനിഷ്ടയെന്നു യഹോവ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവളുടെ ഗർഭത്തെ തുറന്നു; റാഹേലോ മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു.

And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the LORD has looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.ലേയാ ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം കണ്ടു; ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവു എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവൾ അവന്നു രൂബേൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD has heard I was hated, he has therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon.അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: ഞാൻ അനിഷ ്ടഎന്നു യഹോവ കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ടു ഇവനെയും എനിക്കു തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ശിമെയോൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: ഇപ്പോൾ ഈ സമയം എന്റെ ഭർത്താവു എന്നോടു പറ്റിച്ചേരും; ഞാൻ അവന്നു മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൾ അവന്നു ലേവി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിക്കും എന്നു അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൾ അവന്നു യെഹൂദാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. പിന്നെ അവൾക്കു പ്രസവം നിന്നു.

Genesis 30

And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.താൻ യാക്കോബിന്നു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു റാഹേൽ കണ്ടു തന്റെ സഹോദരിയോടു അസൂയപ്പെട്ടു യാക്കോബിനോടു: എനിക്കു മക്കളെ തരേണം; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ മരിച്ചുപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jacob's anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, Am I in God's position, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?അപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബിന്നു റാഹേലിനോടു കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു: നിനക്കു ഗർഭഫലം തരാതിരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തോ ഞാൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.അതിന്നു അവൾ: എന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹാ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുക; അവൾ എന്റെ മടിയിൽ പ്രസവിക്കട്ടെ; അവളാൽ എനിക്കും മക്കൾ ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And she gave him Bilhah her handmaid to wife: and Jacob went in unto her.അങ്ങനെ അവൾ തന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹയെ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു; യാക്കോബ് അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

And Bilhah conceived, and bare Jacob a son.ബിൽഹാ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കേബിന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

And Rachel said, God has judged me, and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.അപ്പോൾ റാഹേൽ: ദൈവം എനിക്കു ന്യായം നടത്തി എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു എനിക്കു ഒരു മകനെ തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതു കൊണ്ടു അവന്നു ദാൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And Bilhah Rachel's maid conceived again, and bare Jacob a second son.റാഹേലിന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹാ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കോബിന്നു രണ്ടാമതൊരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

And Rachel said, With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.ഞാൻ എന്റെ സഹോദരിയോടു വലിയോരു പോർ പൊരുതു ജയിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു റാഹേൽ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു നഫ്താലി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

When Leah saw that she had left bearing, she took Zilpah her maid, and gave her Jacob to wife.തനിക്കു പ്രസവം നിന്നുപോയി എന്നു ലേയാ കണ്ടാറെ തന്റെ ദാസി സില്പയെ വിളിച്ചു അവളെ യാക്കോബിന്നു ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.

And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a son.ലേയയുടെ ദാസി സില്പാ യാക്കോബിന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

And Leah said, A troop comes: and she called his name Gad.അപ്പോൾ ലേയാ: ഭാഗ്യം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ഗാദ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And Zilpah Leah's maid bare Jacob a second son.ലേയയുടെ ദാസി സില്പാ യാക്കോബിന്നു രണ്ടാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

And Leah said, Happy am I, for the daughters will call me blessed: and she called his name Asher.ഞാൻ ഭാഗ്യവതി; സ്ത്രികൾ എന്നെ ഭാഗ്യവതിയെന്നു പറയും എന്നു ലേയാ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു ആശേർ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray you, of your son's mandrakes.കോതമ്പുകൊയിത്തുകാലത്തു രൂബേൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു വയലിൽ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കണ്ടു തന്റെ അമ്മയായ ലേയയുടെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. റാഹേൽ ലേയയോടു: നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കുറെ എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And she said unto her, Is it a small matter that you have taken my husband? and would you take away my son's mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with you to night for your son's mandrakes.അവൾ അവളോടു: നീ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിനെ എടുത്തതു പോരയോ? എന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴവും കൂടെ വേണമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു റാഹേൽ: ആകട്ടെ; നിന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഇന്നു രാത്രി അവൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, You must come in unto me; for surely I have hired you with my son's mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.യാക്കോബ് വൈകുന്നേരം വയലിൽനിന്നു വരുമ്പോൾ ലേയാ അവനെ എതിരേറ്റു ചെന്നു: നീ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരേണം; എന്റെ മകന്റെ ദൂദായിപ്പഴം കൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അന്നു രാത്രി അവൻ അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു.

And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob the fifth son.ദൈവം ലേയയുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു; അവൾ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു യാക്കോബിന്നു അഞ്ചാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

And Leah said, God has given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.അപ്പോൾ ലേയാ: ഞാൻ എന്റെ ദാസിയെ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിന്നു കൊടുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവം എനിക്കു കൂലി തന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു യിസ്സാഖാർ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And Leah conceived again, and bare Jacob the sixth son.ലേയാ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു, യാക്കോബിന്നു ആറാമതു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു;

And Leah said, God has imbued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.ദൈവം എനിക്കു ഒരു നല്ലദാനം തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവു എന്നോടുകൂടെ വസിക്കും; ഞാൻ അവന്നു ആറു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു ലേയാ പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു സെബൂലൂൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And afterwards she bare a daughter, and called her name Dinah.അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അവൾ ഒരു മകളെ പ്രസവിച്ചു അവൾക്കു ദീനാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.ദൈവം റാഹേലിനെ ഓർത്തു; ദൈവം അവളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു അവളുടെ ഗർഭത്തെ തുറന്നു.

And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God has taken away my reproach:അവൾ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; ദൈവം എന്റെ നിന്ദ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And she called his name Joseph; and said, The LORD shall add to me another son.യഹോവ എനിക്കു ഇനിയും ഒരു മകനെ തരുമെന്നും പറഞ്ഞു അവന്നു യോസേഫ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And it came to pass, when Rachel had born Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country.റാഹേൽ യോസേഫിനെ പ്രസവിച്ചശേഷം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോടു: ഞാൻ എന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തേക്കും ദേശത്തേക്കും പോകുവാൻ എന്നെ അയക്കേണം.

Give me my wives and my children, for whom I have served you, and let me go: for you know my service which I have done you.ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സേവിച്ചതിന്റെ പ്രതിഫലമായ എന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരേയും മക്കളെയും എനിക്കു തരേണം; ഞാൻ പോകട്ടെ; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സേവിച്ച സേവ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Laban said unto him, I pray you, if I have found favour in yours eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD has blessed me for your sake.ലാബാൻ അവനോടു: നിനക്കു എന്നോടു ദയ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ പോകരുതേ; നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം യഹോവ എന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു എന്നു എനിക്കു ബോദ്ധ്യമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

And he said, Appoint me your wages, and I will give it.നിനക്കു എന്തു പ്രതിഫലം വേണം എന്നു പറക; ഞാൻ തരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said unto him, You know how I have served you, and how your cattle was with me.അവൻ അവനോടു: ഞാൻ നിന്നെ എങ്ങനെ സേവിച്ചു എന്നും നിന്റെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടം എന്റെ പക്കൽ എങ്ങനെ ഇരുന്നു എന്നും നീ അറിയുന്നു.

For it was little which you had before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude; and the LORD has blessed you since my coming: and now when shall I provide for mine own house also?ഞാൻ വരുംമുമ്പെ നിനക്കു അല്പമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളു; ഇപ്പോൾ അതു അത്യന്തം വർദ്ധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ കാൽ വെച്ചേടത്തൊക്കെയും യഹോവ നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇനി എന്റെ സ്വന്തഭവനത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ എപ്പോൾ കരുതും എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, What shall I give you? And Jacob said, You shall not give me any thing: if you will do this thing for me, I will again feed and keep your flock.ഞാൻ നിനക്കു എന്തു തരേണം എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു യാക്കോബ് പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ ഒന്നും തരേണ്ടാ; ഈ കാര്യം നീ ചെയ്തുതന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തെ ഇനിയും മേയിച്ചു പാലിക്കാം.

I will pass through all your flock to day, removing from thence all the speckled and spotted cattle, and all the brown cattle among the sheep, and the spotted and speckled among the goats: and of such shall be my hire.ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ എല്ലാ കൂട്ടങ്ങളിലും കൂടി കടന്നു, അവയിൽനിന്നു പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള ആടുകളെ ഒക്കെയും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളിൽ കറുത്തതിനെയൊക്കെയും കോലാടുകളിൽ പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ളതിനെയും വേർതിരിക്കാം; അതു എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

So shall my righteousness answer for me in time to come, when it shall come for my hire before your face: every one that is not speckled and spotted among the goats, and brown among the sheep, that shall be counted stolen with me.നാളെ ഒരിക്കൽ എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം സംബന്ധിച്ചു നീ നോക്കുവാൻ വരുമ്പോൾ എന്റെ നീതി തെളിവായിരിക്കും; കോലാടുകളിൽ പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമില്ലാത്തതും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളിൽ കറുത്തനിറമില്ലാത്തതും എല്ലാം മോഷ്ടിച്ചതായി എണ്ണാം.

And Laban said, Behold, I would it might be according to your word.അതിന്നു ലാബാൻ: നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he removed that day the he goats that were striped with bands and spotted, and all the she goats that were speckled and spotted, and every one that had some white in it, and all the brown among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons.അന്നു തന്നേ അവൻ വരയും മറുവുമുള്ള മുട്ടാടുകളെയും പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള പെൺകോലാടുകളെ ഒക്കെയും വെണ്മയുള്ളതിനെ ഒക്കെയും ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളിൽ കറുത്തനിറമുള്ളതിനെ ഒക്കെയും വേർതിരിച്ചു അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

And he set three days' journey between himself and Jacob: and Jacob fed the rest of Laban's flocks.അവൻ തനിക്കും യാക്കോബിന്നും ഇടയിൽ മൂന്നു ദിവസത്തെ വഴിയകലം വെച്ചു; ലാബാന്റെ ശേഷമുള്ള ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ യാക്കോബ് മേയിച്ചു.

And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chestnut tree; and stripped white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.എന്നാൽ യാക്കോബ് പുന്നവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും ബദാംവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും അരിഞ്ഞിൽവൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെയും പച്ചക്കൊമ്പുകളെ എടുത്തു അവയിൽ വെള്ള കാണത്തക്കവണ്ണം വെള്ളവരയായി തോലുരിച്ചു.

And he set the rods which he had stripped before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.ആടുകൾ കുടിപ്പാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ, താൻ തോലുരിച്ച കൊമ്പുകളെ പാത്തികളിലും വെള്ളം പകരുന്ന തൊട്ടികളിലും ആടുകളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചു; അവ വെള്ളം കുടിപ്പാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ ചനയേറ്റു.

And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle striped with bands, speckled, and spotted.ആടുകൾ കൊമ്പുകളെ കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടു ചനയേറ്റു വരയും പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ള കുട്ടികളെ പെറ്റു.

And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the striped with bands, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban's cattle.ആ ആട്ടിൻ കുട്ടികളെ യാക്കോബ് വേർതിരിച്ചു ആടുകളെ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളിൽ വരയും മറുവുമുള്ള എല്ലാറ്റിന്നും അഭിമുഖമായി നിർത്തി; തന്റെ സ്വന്തകൂട്ടങ്ങളെ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളോടു ചേർക്കാതെ വേറെയാക്കി.

And it came to pass, whenever the stronger cattle did conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.ബലമുള്ള ആടുകൾ ചനയേല്ക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെയും കൊമ്പുകളെ കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടു ചനയേൽക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യാക്കോബ് ആ കൊമ്പുകളെ പാത്തികളിൽ ആടുകളുടെ കണ്ണിന്നു മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചു.

But when the cattle were feeble, he put them not in: so the feebler were Laban's, and the stronger Jacob's.ബലമില്ലാത്ത ആടുകൾ ചനയേല്ക്കുമ്പോൾ അവയെ വെച്ചില്ല; അങ്ങനെ ബലമില്ലാത്തവ ലാബാന്നും ബലമുള്ളവ യാക്കോബിന്നും ആയിത്തീർന്നു.

And the man increased exceedingly, and had much cattle, and maidservants, and male servants, and camels, and asses.അവൻ മഹാസമ്പന്നനായി അവന്നു വളരെ ആടുകളും ദാസീദാസന്മാരും ഒട്ടകങ്ങളും കഴുതകളും ഉണ്ടാകയും ചെയ്തു.

Genesis 31

And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob has taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's has he got all this glory.എന്നാൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും യാക്കോബ് എടുത്തുകളഞ്ഞു ഞങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ വകകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ഈ ധനം ഒക്കെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചു എന്നു ലാബാന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുകളെ അവൻ കേട്ടു.

And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before.യാക്കോബ് ലാബാന്റെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കിയാറെ അതു തന്റെ നേരെ മുമ്പെ ഇരുന്നതു പോലെ അല്ല എന്നു കണ്ടു.

And the LORD said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of your fathers, and to your kindred; and I will be with you.അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ യാക്കോബിനോടു: നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദേശത്തേക്കും നിന്റെ ചാർച്ചക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock,യാക്കോബ് ആളയച്ചു റാഹേലിനേയും ലേയയെയും വയലിൽ തന്റെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു.

And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father has been with me.അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ മുഖം എന്റെ നേരെ മുമ്പെപ്പോലെ അല്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ കാണുന്നു; എങ്കിലും എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ദൈവം എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And all of you know that with all my power I have served your father.നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പനെ ഞാൻ എന്റെ സർവ്വബലത്തോടും കൂടെ സേവിച്ചു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നെ അറിയാമല്ലോ.

And your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me.നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പനോ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു എന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം പത്തു പ്രാവശ്യം മാറ്റി; എങ്കിലും എന്നോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്‍വാൻ ദൈവം അവനെ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല.

If he said thus, The speckled shall be your wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The striped with bands shall be your hire; then bare all the cattle striped with bands.പുള്ളിയുള്ളവ നിന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു എങ്കിൽ കൂട്ടമൊക്കെയും പുള്ളിയുള്ള കുട്ടികളെ പെറ്റു; വരയുള്ളവ നിന്റെ പ്രതിഫലം ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു എങ്കിൽ കൂട്ടമൊക്കെയും വരയുള്ള കുട്ടികളെ പെറ്റു.

Thus God has taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me.ഇങ്ങനെ ദൈവം നിങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തെ എടുത്തു എനിക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

And it came to pass at the time that the cattle conceived, that I lifted up mine eyes, and saw in a dream, and, behold, the rams which leaped upon the cattle were striped with bands, speckled, and greyed.ആടുകൾ ചനയേല്ക്കുന്ന കാലത്തു ഞാൻ സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ ആടുകളിന്മേൽ കയറുന്ന മുട്ടാടുകൾ വരയും പുള്ളിയും മറുവും ഉള്ളവ എന്നു കണ്ടു.

And the angel of God spoke unto me in a dream, saying, Jacob: And I said, Here am I.ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതൻ സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ എന്നോടു: യാക്കോബേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചു; ഞാൻ ഇതാ, എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Lift up now yours eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle are striped with bands, speckled, and greyed: for I have seen all that Laban does unto you.അപ്പോൾ അവൻ: നീ തലപൊക്കി നോക്കുക; ആടുകളുടെ മേൽ കയറുന്ന മുട്ടാടുകൾ ഒക്കെയും വരയും പുള്ളിയും മറുവുമുള്ളവയല്ലോ; ലാബാൻ നിന്നോടു ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar, and where you vowed a vow unto me: now arise, get you out from this land, and return unto the land of your kindred.നീ തൂണിനെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്കയും എന്നോടു നേർച്ചനേരുകയും ചെയ്ത സ്ഥലമായ ബേഥേലിന്റെ ദൈവം ആകുന്നു ഞാൻ; ആകയാൽ നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റ, ഈ ദേശംവിട്ടു നിന്റെ ജന്മദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

And Rachel and Leah answered and said unto him, Is there yet any portion or inheritance for us in our father's house?റാഹേലും ലേയയും അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: അപ്പന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഇനി ഓഹരിയും അവകാശവും ഉണ്ടോ?

Are we not counted of him strangers? for he has sold us, and has quite devoured also our money.അവൻ ഞങ്ങളെ അന്യരായിട്ടല്ലയോ വിചാരിക്കുന്നതു? ഞങ്ങളെ വിറ്റു വിലയും എല്ലാം തിന്നു കളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

For all the riches which God has taken from our father, that is ours, and our children's: now then, whatsoever God has said unto you, do.ദൈവം ഞങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ പക്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തുകളഞ്ഞ സമ്പത്തൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങൾക്കും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മക്കൾക്കും ഉള്ളതല്ലോ; ആകയാൽ ദൈവം നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തുകൊൾക.

Then Jacob rose up, and set his sons and his wives upon camels;അങ്ങനെ യാക്കോബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും ഒട്ടകപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി.

And he carried away all his cattle, and all his goods which he had got, the cattle of his getting, which he had got in Padanaram, in order to go to Isaac his father in the land of Canaan.തന്റെ കന്നുകാലികളെ ഒക്കെയും താൻ സമ്പാദിച്ച സമ്പത്തു ഒക്കെയും താൻ പദ്ദൻ-അരാമിൽ സമ്പാദിച്ച മൃഗസമ്പത്തു ഒക്കെയും ചേർത്തുകൊണ്ടു കനാൻ ദേശത്തു തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the images that were her father's.ലാബാൻ തന്റെ ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിപ്പാൻ പോയിരുന്നു; റാഹേൽ തന്റെ അപ്പന്നുള്ള ഗൃഹവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചു.

And Jacob stole away unexpectedly to Laban the Syrian, in that he told him not that he fled.താൻ ഓടിപ്പോകുന്നതു യാക്കോബ് അരാമ്യനായ ലാബാനോടു അറിയിക്കായ്കയാൽ അവനെ തോല്പിച്ചായിരുന്നു പോയതു.

So he fled with all that he had; and he rose up, and passed over the river, and set his face toward the mount Gilead.ഇങ്ങനെ അവൻ തനിക്കുള്ള സകലവുമായി ഓടിപ്പോയി; അവൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു നദി കടന്നു. ഗിലെയാദ് പർവ്വതത്തിന്നു നേരെ തിരിഞ്ഞു.

And it was told Laban on the third day that Jacob was fled.യാക്കോബ് ഓടിപ്പോയി എന്നു ലാബാന്നു മൂന്നാം ദിവസം അറിവു കിട്ടി.

And he took his brethren with him, and pursued after him seven days' journey; and they overtook him in the mount Gilead.ഉടനെ അവൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ഏഴു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി അവനെ പിന്തുടർന്നു ഗിലെയാദ് പർവ്വതത്തിൽ അവനോടു ഒപ്പം എത്തി.

And God came to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said unto him, Take heed that you speak not to Jacob either good or bad.എന്നാൽ ദൈവം രാത്രി സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ അരാമ്യനായ ലാബാന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവനോടു: നീ യാക്കോബിനോടു ഗുണമെങ്കിലും ദോഷമെങ്കിലും പറയാതിരിപ്പാൻ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

Then Laban overtook Jacob. Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the mount: and Laban with his brethren pitched in the mount of Gilead.ലാബാൻ യാക്കോബിനോടു ഒപ്പം എത്തി; യാക്കോബ് പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കൂടാരം അടിച്ചിരുന്നു; ലാബാനും തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുമായി ഗിലെയാദ് പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു.

²⁶

And Laban said to Jacob, What have you done, that you have stolen away unexpectedly to me, and carried away my daughters, as captives taken with the sword?ലാബാൻ യാക്കോബിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ എന്നെ ഒളിച്ചു പോയ്ക്കളകയും എന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെ വാളാൽ പിടിച്ചവരെപ്പോലെ കൊണ്ടുപോകയും ചെയ്തതു എന്തു?

²⁷

Wherefore did you flee away secretly, and steal away from me; and did not tell me, that I might have sent you away with delight, and with songs, with timbrel, and with harp?നീ എന്നെ തോല്പിച്ചു രഹസ്യമായിട്ടു ഓടിപ്പോകയും ഞാൻ സന്തോഷത്തോടും സംഗീതത്തോടും മുരജത്തോടും വീണയോടുംകൂടെ നിന്നെ അയപ്പാന്തക്കവണ്ണം എന്നെ അറിയിക്കാതിരിക്കയും

And have not suffered me to kiss my sons and my daughters? you have now done foolishly in so doing.എന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ചുംബിപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു ഇടതരാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതു എന്തു? ഭോഷത്വമാകുന്നു നീ ചെയ്തതു.

It is in the power of my hand to do you hurt: but the God of your father spoke unto me last night, saying, Take you heed that you speak not to Jacob either good or bad.നിങ്ങളോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്‍വാൻ എന്റെ പക്കൽ ശക്തിയുണ്ടു; എങ്കിലും നീ യാക്കോബിനോടു ഗുണമെങ്കിലും ദോഷമെങ്കിലും ചെയ്യാതിരിപ്പാൻ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ ദൈവം കഴിഞ്ഞ രാത്രി എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

And now, though you would essentially be gone, because you sore longed after your father's house, yet wherefore have you stolen my gods?ആകട്ടെ, നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്നായുള്ള അതിവാഞ്ഛയാൽ നീ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോന്നു; എന്നാൽ എന്റെ ദേവന്മാരെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചതു എന്തിന്നു?

And Jacob answered and said to Laban, Because I was afraid: for I said, Possibly you would take by force your daughters from me.യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോടു: പക്ഷെ നിന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെ നീ എന്റെ പക്കൽനിന്നു അപഹരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

With whomsoever you find your gods, let him not live: before our brethren discern you what is yours with me, and take it to you. For Jacob knew not that Rachel had stolen them.എന്നാൽ നീ ആരുടെ പക്കൽ എങ്കിലും നിന്റെ ദേവന്മാരെ കണ്ടാൽ അവൻ ജീവനോടിരിക്കരുതു; എന്റെ പക്കൽ നിന്റെ വക വല്ലതും ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു നീ നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരന്മാർ കാൺകെ നോക്കി എടുക്ക എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. റാഹേൽ അവയെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചതു യാക്കോബ് അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.

And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before you; for the custom of women is upon me. Whereas you have searched all my stuff, what have you found of all your household stuff? set it here before my brethren and your brethren, that they may judge between us both.നീ എന്റെ സാമാനം ഒക്കെയും ശോധന കഴിച്ചുവല്ലോ; നിന്റെ വീട്ടിലെ സാമാനം വല്ലതും കണ്ടുവോ? എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കും നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കും മുമ്പാകെ ഇവിടെ വെക്കുക; അവർ നമുക്കിരുവർക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ വിധിക്കട്ടെ.

This twenty years have I been with you; your ewes and your she goats have not cast their young, and the rams of your flock have I not eaten.ഈ ഇരുപതു സംവത്സരം ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പാർത്തു; നിന്റെ ചെമ്മരിയാടുകൾക്കും കോലാടുകൾക്കും ചനനാശം വന്നിട്ടില്ല. നിന്റെ കൂട്ടത്തിലെ ആട്ടുകൊറ്റന്മാരെ ഞാൻ തിന്നുകളഞ്ഞിട്ടുമില്ല.

Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely you had sent me away now empty. And Laban answered and said unto Jacob, These daughters are my daughters, and these children are my children, and these cattle are my cattle, and all that you see is mine: and what can I do this day unto these my daughters, or unto their children which they have born?ലാബാൻ യാക്കോബിനോടു: പുത്രിമാർ എന്റെ പുത്രിമാർ, മക്കൾ എന്റെ മക്കൾ, ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടം എന്റെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടം; നീ കാണുന്നതൊക്കെയും എനിക്കുള്ളതു തന്നേ; ഈ എന്റെ പുത്രിമാരോടോ അവർ പ്രസവിച്ച മക്കളോടോ ഞാൻ ഇന്നു എന്തു ചെയ്യും?

Now therefore come you, let us make a covenant, I and you; and let it be for a witness between me and you.ആകയാൽ വരിക, ഞാനും നീയും തമ്മിൽ ഒരു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്ക; അതു എനിക്കും നിനക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ സാക്ഷിയായിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.അപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് ഒരു കല്ലു എടുത്തു തൂണായി നിർത്തി.

And Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.കല്ലു കൂട്ടുവിൻ എന്നു യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞു; അവർ കല്ലു എടുത്തു ഒരു കൂമ്പാരമുണ്ടാക്കി; കൂമ്പാരത്തിന്മേൽ വെച്ചു അവർ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

And Laban called it Jegarsahadutha: but Jacob called it Galeed.ലാബാൻ അതിന്നു യെഗർ-സഹദൂഥാ (സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്റെ കൂമ്പാരം) എന്നു പേരിട്ടു; യാക്കോബ് അതിന്നു ഗലേദ് (സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്റെ കൂമ്പാരം) എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.

And Laban said, This heap is a witness between me and you this day. Therefore was the name of it called Galeed;ഈ കൂമ്പാരം ഇന്നു എനിക്കും നിനക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ സാക്ഷി എന്നു ലാബാൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ടു അതിന്നു ഗലേദ് എന്നും മിസ്പാ (കാവൽ മാടം) എന്നും പോരായി:

And Mizpah; for he said, The LORD watch between me and you, when we are absent one from another.നാം തമ്മിൽ അകന്നിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യഹോവ എനിക്കും നിനക്കും നടുവെ കാവലായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

If you shall afflict my daughters, or if you shall take other wives beside my daughters, no man is with us; see, God is witness between me and you.നീ എന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കയോ എന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെയല്ലാതെ വേറെ സ്ത്രീകളെ പരിഗ്രഹിക്കയോ ചെയ്യുമെങ്കിൽ നമ്മോടുകൂടെ ആരും ഇല്ല; നോക്കുക, ദൈവം തന്നേ എനിക്കും നിനക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ സാക്ഷി എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold this pillar, which I have cast between me and you:ലാബാൻ പിന്നെയും യാക്കോബിനോടു: ഇതാ, ഈ കൂമ്പാരം; ഇതാ, എനിക്കും നിനക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ നിർത്തിയ തൂൺ.

This heap be witness, and this pillar be witness, that I will not pass over this heap to you, and that you shall not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.ദോഷത്തിന്നായി ഞാൻ ഈ കൂമ്പാരം കടന്നു നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരാതെയും നീ ഈ കൂമ്പാരവും ഈ തൂണും കടന്നു എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഈ കൂമ്പാരവും സാക്ഷി, ഈ തൂണും സാക്ഷി.

The God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us. And Jacob swore by the fear of his father Isaac.അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും നാഹോരിന്റെ ദൈവവും അവരുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ ദൈവവുമായവൻ നമുക്കു മദ്ധ്യേ വിധിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ പിതാവായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ഭയമായവനെച്ചൊല്ലി സത്യം ചെയ്തു.

Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount.പിന്നെ യാക്കോബ് പർവ്വതത്തിൽ യാഗം അർപ്പിച്ചു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പാൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ വിളിച്ചു; അവർ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു പർവ്വതത്തിൽ രാപാർത്തു.

And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed, and returned unto his place.ലാബാൻ അതി കാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും ചുംബിക്കയും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കയും ചെയ്തശേഷം അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

Genesis 32

And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോയി; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാർ അവന്റെ എതിരെ വന്നു.

And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.യാക്കോബ് അവരെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: ഇതു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സേന എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു മഹനയീം എന്നു പേർ ഇട്ടു.

And Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir, the country of Edom.അനന്തരം യാക്കോബ് എദോംനാടായ സേയീർദേശത്തു തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ തനിക്കു മുമ്പായി ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു.

And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall all of you speak unto my lord Esau; Your servant Jacob says thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: എന്റെ യജമാനനായ ഏശാവിനോടു ഇങ്ങനെ പറവിൻ: നിന്റെ അടിയാൻ യാക്കോബ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു: ഞാൻ ലാബാന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പരദേശിയായി പാർത്തു ഇന്നുവരെ അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.

And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and male servants, and female servants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in your sight.എനിക്കു കാളയും കഴുതയും ആടും ദാസീദാസന്മാരും ഉണ്ടു; നിനക്കു എന്നൊടു കൃപ തോന്നേണ്ടതിന്നാകുന്നു യജമാനനെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ആളയക്കുന്നതു.

And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to your brother Esau, and also he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him.ദൂതന്മാർ യാക്കോബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങി വന്നു: ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോയി വന്നു; അവൻ നാനൂറു ആളുമായി നിന്നെ എതിരേല്പാൻ വരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;അപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് ഏറ്റവും ഭ്രമിച്ചു ഭയവശനായി, തന്നോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജനത്തെയും ആടുകളെയും കന്നുകാലികളെയും ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെയും രണ്ടു കൂട്ടമായി വിഭാഗിച്ചു.

And said, If Esau come to the one company, and strike it, then the other company which is left shall escape.ഏശാവ് ഒരു കൂട്ടത്തിന്റെ നേരെ വന്നു അതിനെ നശിപ്പിച്ചാൽ മറ്റേ കൂട്ടത്തിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോകാമല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which said unto me, Return unto your country, and to your kindred, and I will deal well with you:പിന്നെ യാക്കോബ് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചതു: എന്റെ പിതാവായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ ദൈവവും എന്റെ പിതാവായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ദൈവവുമായുള്ളോവേ, നിന്റെ ദേശത്തേക്കും നിന്റെ ചാർച്ചക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കും മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; ഞാൻ നിനക്കു നന്മ ചെയ്യുമെന്നു എന്നൊടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത യഹോവേ,

I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which you have showed unto your servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.അടിയനോടു കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന സകലദയെക്കും സകലവിശ്വസ്തതെക്കും ഞാൻ അപാത്രമത്രേ; ഒരു വടിയോടുകൂടെ മാത്രമല്ലോ ഞാൻ ഈ യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നതു; ഇപ്പോഴോ ഞാൻ രണ്ടു കൂട്ടമായി തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Deliver me, I pray you, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and strike me, and the mother with the children.എന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ; പക്ഷേ അവൻ വന്നു എന്നെയും മക്കളോടുകൂടെ തള്ളയെയും നശിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു.

And you said, I will surely do you good, and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.നീയോ: ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു നന്മ ചെയ്യും; നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ പെരുപ്പംകൊണ്ടു എണ്ണിക്കൂടാത്ത കടൽകരയിലെ മണൽപോലെ ആക്കുമെന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

Thirty milk giving camels with their colts, forty cattle, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.കറവുള്ള മുപ്പതു ഒട്ടകത്തെയും അവയുടെ കുട്ടികളെയും നാല്പതു പശുവിനെയും പത്തു കാളയെയും ഇരുപതു പെൺകഴുതയെയും പത്തു കഴുതക്കുട്ടിയെയും വേർതിരിച്ചു.

And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meet you, and asks you, saying, Whose are you? and where go you? and whose are these before you?ഒന്നാമതു പോകുന്നവനോടു അവൻ: എന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവ് നിന്നെ കണ്ടു: നീ ആരുടെ ആൾ? എവിടെ പോകുന്നു? നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ പോകുന്ന ഇവ ആരുടെ വക എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിന്നോടു ചോദിച്ചാൽ:

Then you shall say, They be your servant Jacob's; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.നിന്റെ അടിയാൻ യാക്കോബിന്റെ വക ആകുന്നു; ഇതു യജമാനനായ ഏശാവിന്നു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന സമ്മാനം; അതാ, അവനും പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നു എന്നു നീ പറയേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And say all of you moreover, Behold, your servant Jacob is behind us. And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.അവനെ ജയിക്കയില്ല എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവൻ അവന്റെ തുടയുടെ തടം തൊട്ടു; ആകയാൽ അവനോടു മല്ലുപിടിക്കയിൽ യാക്കോബിന്റെ തുടയുടെ തടം ഉളുക്കിപ്പോയി.

And he said unto him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob.നിന്റെ പേർ എന്തു എന്നു അവൻ അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: യാക്കോബ് എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince have you power with God and with men, and have prevailed.നീ ദൈവത്തോടും മനുഷ്യരോടും മല്ലുപിടിച്ചു ജയിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ പേർ ഇനി യാക്കോബ് എന്നല്ല യിസ്രായേൽ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
