Jeremiah 1

The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:ബെന്യാമീൻ ദേശത്തു അനാഥോത്തിലെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരിൽ ഹിൽക്കീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ.

To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.അവന്നു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായി ആമോന്റെ മകനായ യോശീയാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു, അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ പതിമൂന്നാം ആണ്ടിൽ, യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.

It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.യെഹൂദാരാജാവായി യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോയാക്കീമിന്റെ കാലത്തും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായി യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവിന്റെ പതിനൊന്നാം ആണ്ടിന്റെ അവസാനംവരെയും അഞ്ചാം മാസത്തിൽ യെരൂശലേമ്യരെ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയതുവരെയും തന്നേ അങ്ങനെ ഉണ്ടായി.

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet unto the nations.നിന്നെ ഉദരത്തിൽ ഉരുവാക്കിയതിന്നു മുമ്പെ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അറിഞ്ഞു; നീ ഗർഭപാത്രത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറത്തു വന്നതിന്നു മുമ്പെ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു, ജാതികൾക്കു പ്രവാചകനായി നിയമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ: അയ്യോ, യഹോവയായ കർത്താവേ, എനിക്കു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാ; ഞാൻ ബാലനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatsoever I command you you shall speak.അതിന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു: ഞാൻ ബാലൻ എന്നു നീ പറയരുതു; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അയക്കുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ നീ പോകയും ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും സംസാരിക്കയും വേണം.

Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD.നീ അവരെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; നിന്നെ വിടുവിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.പിന്നെ യഹോവ കൈ നീട്ടി എന്റെ വായെ തൊട്ടു: ഞാൻ എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ നിന്റെ വായിൽ തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു;

See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.നോക്കുക; നിർമ്മൂലമാക്കുവാനും പൊളിപ്പാനും നശിപ്പിപ്പാനും ഇടിച്ചുകളവാനും പണിവാനും നടുവാനുംവേണ്ടി ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഇന്നു ജാതികളുടെമേലും രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെമേലും ആക്കിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what see you? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായി: യിരെമ്യാവേ, നീ എന്തു കാണുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. ബദാം (ജാഗ്രത്) വൃക്ഷത്തിന്റെ ഒരു കൊമ്പു കാണുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said the LORD unto me, You have well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.യഹോവ എന്നോടു: നീ കണ്ടതു ശരി തന്നേ; എന്റെ വചനം നിവർത്തിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ ജാഗരിച്ചുകൊള്ളും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What see you? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യം എനിക്കുണ്ടായി: നീ എന്തു കാണുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. തിളെക്കുന്ന ഒരു കലം കാണുന്നു. അതു വടക്കുനിന്നു പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി വരുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.യഹോവ എന്നോടു: വടക്കുനിന്നു ദേശത്തിലെ സർവ്വനിവാസികൾക്കും അനർത്ഥം വരും.

¹⁵

For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, says the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.ഞാൻ വടക്കെ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലെ വംശങ്ങളെ ഒക്കെയും വിളിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; അവർ വന്നു, ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ സിംഹാസനം യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ പടിവാതിലുകളുടെ പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കലും ചുറ്റും അതിന്റെ എല്ലാ മതിലുകൾക്കും നേരെയും യെഹൂദയിലെ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങൾക്കും നേരെയും വെക്കും.

And I will utter my judgments against them concerning all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.അവർ എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയും അന്യദേവന്മാർക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടി തങ്ങളുടെ കൈപ്പണികളെ നമസ്കരിക്കയും ചെയ്ത സകലദോഷത്തെയും കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ അവരോടു ന്യായവാദം കഴിക്കും.

You therefore gird up your loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command you: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound you before them.ആകയാൽ നീ അരകെട്ടി എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും അവരോടു പ്രസ്താവിക്ക; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ ഭ്രമിപ്പിക്കാതെ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അവരെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകരുതു.

For, behold, I have made you this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നെ സർവ്വദേശത്തിന്നും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാർക്കും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർക്കും പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കും ദേശത്തിലെ ജനത്തിന്നും നേരെ ഉറപ്പുള്ളോരു പട്ടണവും ഇരിമ്പുതൂണും താമ്രമതിലുകളും ആക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

And they shall fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you, says the LORD, to deliver you.അവർ നിന്നോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യും; നിന്നെ ജയിക്കയില്ലതാനും; നിന്നെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

Jeremiah 2

Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു എനിക്കുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

Go and cry in the ears of Jerusalem, saying, Thus says the LORD; I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of yours espousals, when you went after me in the wilderness, in a land that was not sown.നീ ചെന്നു യെരൂശലേം കേൾക്കെ വിളിച്ചു പറയേണ്ടതു; യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽ, വിതെക്കാത്ത ദേശത്തു തന്നേ, നീ എന്നെ അനുഗമിച്ചു നടന്ന നിന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ ഭക്തിയും വിവാഹം നിശ്ചയിച്ച കാലത്തിലെ സ്നേഹവും ഞാൻ ഓർക്കുന്നു.

Israel was holiness unto the LORD, and the first-fruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, says the LORD.യിസ്രായേൽ യഹോവെക്കു വിശുദ്ധവും അവന്റെ വിളവിന്റെ ആദ്യഫലവും ആകുന്നു; അവനെ തിന്നുകളയുന്നവരൊക്കെയും കുറ്റക്കാരായ്തീരും; അവർക്കു ദോഷം വന്നു ഭവിക്കും എന്നായിരുന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

Hear all of you the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel:യാക്കോബ്ഗൃഹവും യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹത്തിലെ സകലവംശങ്ങളും ആയുള്ളോരേ, യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു കേട്ടുകൊൾവിൻ.

Thus says the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ എന്നെ വിട്ടകന്നു മിത്ഥ്യാമൂർത്തികളോടു ചേർന്നു വ്യർത്ഥന്മാർ ആയിത്തീരുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവർ എന്നിൽ എന്തൊരു അന്യായം കണ്ടു?

Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു, പാഴ്നിലവും കുഴികളും ഉള്ള ദേശമായി വരൾചയും കൂരിരുളും ഉള്ള ദേശമായി മനുഷ്യസഞ്ചാരമോ ആൾപാർപ്പോ ഇല്ലാത്ത ദേശമായ മരുഭൂമിയിൽകൂടി ഞങ്ങളെ നടത്തി കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യഹോവ എവിടെ എന്നു അവർ ചോദിച്ചില്ല.

And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when all of you entered, all of you defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ ഫലവത്തായോരു ദേശത്തു അതിന്റെ ഫലവും ഗുണവും അനുഭവിപ്പാൻ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; എന്നാൽ അവിടെ എത്തിയ ശേഷം നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ദേശത്തെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കി എന്റെ അവകാശത്തെ അറെപ്പാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.യഹോവ എവിടെ എന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാർ അന്വേഷിച്ചില്ല; ന്യായപ്രമാണജ്ഞന്മാർ എന്നെ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല; ഇടയന്മാർ എന്നോടു അതിക്രമം ചെയ്തു: പ്രവാചകന്മാർ ബാൽമുഖാന്തരം പ്രവചിച്ചു, പ്രയോജനമില്ലാത്തവയോടു ചേർന്നുനടന്നു.

Wherefore I will yet plead with you, says the LORD, and with your children's children will I plead.അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ ഇനിയും നിങ്ങളോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കും; നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളുടെ മക്കളോടും ഞാൻ വ്യവഹരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

For pass over the isles of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.നിങ്ങൾ കിത്തീയരുടെ ദ്വീപുകളിലേക്കു കടന്നുചെന്നു നോക്കുവിൻ; കേദാരിലേക്കു ആളയച്ചു നല്ലവണ്ണം അന്വേഷിച്ചു, ഇതുപോലെ സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്നു നോക്കുവിൻ.

Has a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which does not profit.ഒരു ജാതി തന്റെ ദേവന്മാരെ മാറ്റീട്ടുണ്ടോ? അവ ദേവന്മാരല്ലതാനും; എന്നാൽ എന്റെ ജനം തന്റെ മഹത്വമായവനെ പ്രയോജനമില്ലാത്തതിന്നു പകരം മാറ്റിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

Be astonished, O all of you heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be all of you very desolate, says the LORD.ആകാശമേ, ഇതിങ്കൽ വിസ്മയിച്ചു ഭ്രമിച്ചു ഏറ്റവും സ്തംഭിച്ചുപോക എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.എന്റെ ജനം രണ്ടു ദോഷം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു: അവർ ജീവജലത്തിന്റെ ഉറവായ എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു, വെള്ളമില്ലാത്ത കിണറുകളെ, പൊട്ടക്കിണറുകളെ തന്നേ, കുഴിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Is Israel a servant? is he a native slave? why is he spoiled?യിസ്രായേൽ ദാസനോ? വീട്ടിൽ പിറന്ന അടിമയോ? അവൻ കവർച്ചയായി തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു?

The young lions roared upon him, and yelled, and they made his land waste: his cities are burned without inhabitant.ബാലസിംഹങ്ങൾ അവന്റെ നേരെ അലറി നാദം കേൾപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കി; അവന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ വെന്തു നിവാസികൾ ഇല്ലാതെയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

Also the children of Noph and Tahapanes have broken the crown of your head.നോഫ്യരും തഹ്പനേസ്യരും നിന്റെ നെറുകയെ തകർത്തുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

Have you not procured this unto yourself, in that you have forsaken the LORD your God, when he led you by the way?നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നെ വഴിനടത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കകൊണ്ടല്ലയോ നീ ഇതു സമ്പാദിച്ചതു?

And now what have you to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what have you to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?ഇപ്പോഴോ, മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കുള്ള യാത്ര എന്തിന്നു? ശീഹോരിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിപ്പാനോ? അശ്ശൂരിലേക്കുള്ള യാത്ര എന്തിന്നു? ആ നദിയിലെ വെള്ളം കുടിപ്പാനോ?

Yours own wickedness shall correct you, and your backslidings shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord GOD of hosts.നിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത തന്നേ നിനക്കു ശിക്ഷയും നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസത്യാഗങ്ങൾ നിനക്കു ദണ്ഡനവുമാകും; അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതും എന്റെ ഭയം നിനക്കു ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുന്നതും എത്ര ദോഷവും കൈപ്പും ആയുള്ളതെന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു കണ്ടുകൊൾക എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയായ കർത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

For of old time I have broken your yoke, and burst your bands; and you said, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree you wander, playing the harlot.പണ്ടു തന്നേ നീ നുകം തകർത്തു നിന്റെ കയറു പൊട്ടിച്ചു: ഞാൻ അടിമവേല ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ഉയർന്ന കുന്നിന്മേൽ ഒക്കെയും പച്ചയായ വൃക്ഷത്തിൻ കീഴൊക്കെയും നീ വേശ്യയായി കിടന്നു.

Yet I had planted you a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then are you turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിശിഷ്ടമുന്തിരിവള്ളിയായി, നല്ല തൈയായി തന്നേ നട്ടിരിക്കെ നീ എനിക്കു കാട്ടുമുന്തിരിവള്ളിയുടെ തൈയായ്തീർന്നതു എങ്ങനെ?

For though you wash you with alkali, and take you much soap, yet yours iniquity is marked before me, says the Lord GOD.നീ ധാരാളം ചവർക്കാരം തേച്ചു ചാരവെള്ളംകൊണ്ടു കഴുകിയാലും നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ മലിനമായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയായ കർത്താവിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

How can you say, I am not polluted, I have not gone after Baalim? see your way in the valley, know what you have done: you are a swift dromedary traversing her ways;ഞാൻ മലിനയായിട്ടില്ല; ഞാൻ ബാൽവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളോടു ചെന്നു ചേർന്നിട്ടില്ല എന്നു നിനക്കു എങ്ങനെ പറയാം? താഴ്വരയിലെ നിന്റെ നടപ്പു വിചാരിക്ക; നീ ചെയ്തതു ഓർക്കുക; വഴിയിൽ അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും വിരെഞ്ഞോടുന്ന പെണ്ണൊട്ടകമല്ലയോ നീ?

²⁴

A wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffs up the wind at her pleasure; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.നീ മരുഭൂമി ശീലിച്ചു അതിമോഹം പൂണ്ടു കിഴെക്കുന്ന കാട്ടു കഴുത തന്നേ; അതിന്റെ മദപ്പാടിൽ അതിനെ തടുക്കാകുന്നവൻ ആർ? ആരും അതിനെ അന്വേഷിച്ചു തളരുകയില്ല; അതിന്റെ മാസത്തിൽ അതിനെ കണ്ടെത്തും;

Withhold your foot from being unshod, and your throat from thirst: but you said, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.ചെരിപ്പു ഊരിപ്പോകാതവണ്ണം നിന്റെ കാലും രണ്ടു പോകാതവണ്ണം തൊണ്ടയും സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾക; നീയോ അതു വെറുതെ; അങ്ങനെയല്ല; ഞാൻ അന്യന്മാരെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ പിന്നാലെ ഞാൻ പോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁶

As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets.കള്ളനെ കണ്ടുപിടിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവൻ ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകുന്നതുപോലെ യിസ്രായേൽഗൃഹം ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകും; അവരും അവരുടെ രാജാക്കന്മാരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും തന്നേ.

Saying to a stock, You are my father; and to a stone, You have brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.അവർ മരത്തോടു: നീ എന്റെ അപ്പൻ എന്നും കല്ലിനോടു: നീ എന്നെ പ്രസവിച്ചവൾ എന്നും പറയുന്നു; അവർ മുഖമല്ല മുതുകത്രേ എങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു; എന്നാൽ കഷ്ടകാലത്തു അവർ: നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഞങ്ങളെ രക്ഷിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറയും.

²⁸

But where are your gods that you have made you? let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble: for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.നീ ഉണ്ടാക്കീട്ടുള്ള നിന്റെ ദേവന്മാർ എവിടെ? കഷ്ടകാലത്തു നിന്നെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ അവർക്കു കഴിവുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അവർ എഴുന്നേൽക്കട്ടെ; അയ്യോ യെഹൂദയേ, നിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണത്തോളം നിനക്കു ദേവന്മാരും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ!

Wherefore will all of you plead with me? all of you all have transgressed against me, says the LORD.നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു വാദിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും എന്നോടു ദ്രോഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെ അടിച്ചതു വ്യർത്ഥം; അവർ ബുദ്ധി പഠിച്ചില്ല; നശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സിംഹത്തെപ്പോലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ വാൾ തന്നേ നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ തിന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

O generation, see all of you the word of the LORD. Have I been a wilderness unto Israel? a land of darkness? wherefore say my people, We are lords; we will come no more unto you?ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ തലമുറയായുള്ളോവേ, യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു കേൾപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഒരു മരുഭൂമി ആയിരുന്നുവോ? അന്ധകാരപ്രദേശമായിരുന്നുവോ? ഞങ്ങൾ കെട്ടഴിഞ്ഞു നടക്കുന്നു; ഇനി നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വിരകയില്ല എന്നു എന്റെ ജനം പറയുന്നതു എന്തു?

Can a maid forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? yet my people have forgotten me days without number.ഒരു കന്യക തന്റെ ആഭരണങ്ങളും ഒരു മണവാട്ടി തന്റെ അരക്കച്ചയും മറക്കുമോ? എന്നാൽ എന്റെ ജനം എണ്ണമില്ലാത്ത നാളായി എന്നെ മറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Why trim you your way to seek love? therefore have you also taught the wicked ones your ways.പ്രേമം അന്വേഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ നിന്റെ വഴി എത്ര ചേലാക്കുന്നു! അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ ദുർന്നടപ്പുകാരത്തികളെയും നിന്റെ വഴികൾ അഭ്യസപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Also in your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocent persons: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these.നിന്റെ ഉടുപ്പിന്റെ വിളുമ്പിലും കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത സാധുക്കളുടെ രക്തം കാണുന്നു; ഭവന ഭേദനത്തിലല്ല നീ അവരെ പിടിച്ചതു. ഇവയെക്കുറിച്ചു ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ ന്യായവാദം കഴിക്കും.

Yet you says, Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me. Behold, I will plead with you, because you says, I have not sinned.നീയോ: ഞാൻ കുറ്റമില്ലാത്തവൾ; അവന്റെ കോപം എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു സത്യം എന്നു പറയുന്നു; ഞാൻ പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു നീ പറയുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കും.

Why arm you about so much to change your way? you also shall be ashamed of Egypt, as you were ashamed of Assyria.നിന്റെ വഴിയെ മാറ്റേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ഇത്ര തെണ്ടിനടക്കുന്നതെന്തു? അശ്ശൂരിങ്കൽ നീ ലജ്ജിച്ചതുപോലെ മിസ്രയീമിങ്കലും ലജ്ജിച്ചുപോകും.

Yea, you shall go forth from him, and yours hands upon yours head: for the LORD has rejected your confidences, and you shall not prosper in them.അവിടെനിന്നും നീ തലയിൽ കൈ വെച്ചും കൊണ്ടു ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോരേണ്ടിവരും; നീ ആശ്രയിച്ചവരെ യഹോവ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരെക്കൊണ്ടു നിനക്കു ഒരു ഗുണവും വരികയില്ല.

Jeremiah 3

They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but you have played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, says the LORD.ഒരു പുരുഷൻ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയും അവൾ അവനെ വിട്ടുപോയി മറ്റൊരു പുരുഷന്നു ഭാര്യയായി തീരുകയും ചെയ്തശേഷം അവൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ വീണ്ടും ചെല്ലുമോ? അങ്ങനെയുള്ള ദേശം മലിനമായ്പോകയില്ലയോ? നീയോ, പല ജാരന്മാരുമായി പരസംഗം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നിട്ടും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവരുവാൻ നീ വിചാരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

Lift up yours eyes unto the high places, and see where you have not been lien with. In the ways have you sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and you have polluted the land with your whoredoms and with your wickedness.മൊട്ടക്കുന്നുകളിലേക്കു തലപൊക്കി നോക്കുക; നീ പരസംഗം ചെയ്യാത്ത സ്ഥലം ഏതുള്ളു? മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അരാബ്യർ എന്ന പോലെ നീ വഴികളിൽ അവർക്കായി പതിയിരുന്നു; നിന്റെ പരസംഗത്താലും വഷളത്വത്താലും ദേശത്തെ മലിനമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; and you had a whore's forehead, you refused to be ashamed.അതുകൊണ്ടു മഴ നിന്നുപോയി; പിന്മഴ പെയ്തതുമില്ല; എന്നിട്ടും നീ വേശ്യയുടെ നെറ്റി കാണിച്ചു, നാണിക്കാതെയിരിക്കുന്നു.

Will you not from this time cry unto me, My father, you are the guide of my youth?നീ ഇന്നുമുതൽ എന്നോടു: എന്റെ പിതാവേ, നീ എന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ സഖി എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറകയില്ലയോ?

Will he reserve his anger for ever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, you have spoken and done evil things as you could.അവൻ എന്നേക്കും കോപം സംഗ്രഹിക്കുമോ? അവൻ സദാകാലം ദ്വേഷം വെച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമോ? എന്നിങ്ങനെ നീ പറഞ്ഞു ദുഷ്ടതകളെ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു നിനക്കു സാധിച്ചിമിരിക്കുന്നു.

The LORD said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the harlot.യോശീയാരാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു: വിശ്വാസത്യാഗിനിയായ യിസ്രായേൽ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതു നീ കണ്ടുവോ? അവൾ ഉയരമുള്ള എല്ലാ മലകളിലും എല്ലാപച്ചമരത്തിൻ കീഴിലും ചെന്നു അവിടെ പരസംഗം ചെയ്തു.

And I said after she had done all these things, Turn you unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.ഇതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തശേഷം അവൾ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവരും എന്നു ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചു: എന്നാൽ അവൾ മടങ്ങിവന്നില്ല; വിശ്വാസപാതകിയായ യെഹൂദാ എന്ന അവളുടെ സഹോദരി അതു കണ്ടു.

And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.വിശ്വാസത്യാഗിനിയായ യിസ്രായേൽ വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്ത ഹേതുവാൽ തന്നേ ഞാൻ അവളെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു ഉപേക്ഷണപത്രം കൊടുത്തതു വിശ്വാസപാതകിയായ യെഹൂദാ എന്ന അവളുടെ സഹോദരി കണ്ടിട്ടും ഭയപ്പെടാതെ അവളും ചെന്നു പരസംഗം ചെയ്തു.

And it came to pass through the levity of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.മനോലഘുത്വത്തോടെ ചെയ്ത അവളുടെ പരസംഗംഹേതുവായി ദേശം മലിനമായ്പോയി; കല്ലിനോടും മരത്തോടും അവൾ വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്തു.

And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, says the LORD.ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും വിശ്വാസപാതകിയായ സഹോദരി യെഹൂദാ കപടമായിട്ടല്ലാതെ പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ എന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നിട്ടില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel has justified herself more than treacherous Judah.വിശ്വാസത്യാഗിനിയായ യിസ്രായേൽ വിശ്വാസപാതകിയായ യെഹൂദയെക്കാൾ നീതിയുള്ളവളെന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, you backsliding Israel, says the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, says the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.നീ ചെന്നു വടക്കോട്ടു നോക്കി ഈ വചനങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചുപറക: വിശ്വാസത്യാഗിനിയായ യിസ്രായേലേ, മടങ്ങിവരിക എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കോപം കാണിക്കയില്ല; ഞാൻ കരുണയുള്ളവൻ; എന്നേക്കും കോപം സംഗ്രഹിക്കയുമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

Only acknowledge yours iniquity, that you have transgressed against the LORD your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and all of you have not obeyed my voice, says the LORD.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു നീ ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു. പച്ചമരത്തിൻ കീഴിലൊക്കെയും അന്യന്മാരോടു ദുർമ്മാർഗ്ഗമായി നടന്നതും എന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിക്കാതെ ഇരുന്നതുമായ നിന്റെ അകൃത്യം സമ്മതിക്കമാത്രം ചെയ്ക എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

Turn, O backsliding children, says the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:വിശ്വാസത്യാഗികളായ മക്കളേ, മടങ്ങിവരുവിൻ എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു; ഞാനല്ലോ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭർത്താവു; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ ഒരുത്തനെയും വംശത്തിൽ രണ്ടുപേരെയും വീതം എടുത്തു സീയോനിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരും.

And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എന്റെ മനസ്സിന്നൊത്ത ഇടയന്മാരെ നല്കും; അവർ നിങ്ങളെ ജ്ഞാനത്തോടും ബുദ്ധിയോടും കൂടെ മേയിക്കും.

And it shall come to pass, when all of you be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, says the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ ദേശത്തു വർദ്ധിച്ചുപെരുകുമ്പോൾ ആ കാലത്തു: യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകം എന്നു ഇനി പറകയില്ല, അതു മനസ്സിൽ വരികയില്ല, അതിനെ ഓർക്കയില്ല, ചെന്നു കാണുകയില്ല, ഇനി അതു ഉണ്ടാക്കുകയുമില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.ആ കാലത്തു യെരൂശലേമിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സിംഹാസനം എന്നു പേരാകും; സകലജാതികളും അവിടേക്കു, യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു തന്നേ, യഹോവയുടെ നാമം നിമിത്തം വന്നു ചേരും; തങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ ശാഠ്യപ്രകാരം ഇനി നടക്കയുമില്ല.

In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.ആ കാലത്തു യെഹൂദാഗൃഹം യിസ്രായേൽഗൃഹത്തോടു ചേർന്നു, അവർ ഒന്നിച്ചു വടക്കെ, ദിക്കിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു വരും.

But I said, How shall I put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of nations? and I said, You shall call me, My father; and shall not turn away from me.ഞാനോ നിന്നെ ദത്തെടുത്തു, നിനക്കു ജാതികളുടെ അതിഭംഗിയുള്ള അവകാശമായ മനോഹരദേശം നല്കേണ്ടതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചു; നീ എന്നെ: എന്റെ പിതാവേ എന്നു വിളിക്കും, എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമില്ല എന്നും ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചു.

Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so have all of you dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, says the LORD.യിസ്രായേൽഗൃഹമേ, ഒരു ഭാര്യ ഭർത്താവിനോടു വിശ്വാസപാതകം ചെയ്തു അവനെ വിട്ടുകളയുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു വിശ്വാസപാതകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.

A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and they have forgotten the LORD their God.യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ വളഞ്ഞ വഴികളിൽ നടന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ മറന്നുകളഞ്ഞതിനാൽ അവർ മൊട്ടക്കുന്നുകളിന്മേൽ കരഞ്ഞു യാചിക്കുന്നതു കേൾക്കുന്നു!

Return, all of you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto you; for you are the LORD our God.വിശ്വാസ ത്യാഗികളായ മക്കളേ, മടങ്ങിവരുവിൻ; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശ്വാസത്യാഗം മാറ്റിത്തരാം. ഇതാ, ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നു; നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയല്ലോ.

Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.കുന്നുകളും പർവ്വതങ്ങളിലെ കോലാഹലവും വ്യർത്ഥം; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിൽ മാത്രമേ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രക്ഷയുള്ളു.

For shame has devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.ലജ്ജാവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളോ ഞങ്ങളുടെ യൌവനംമുതൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ സമ്പാദ്യത്തെയും അവരുടെ ആടുകളെയും കന്നുകാലികളെയും അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും പുത്രിമാരെയും തിന്നുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covers us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ലജ്ജയിൽ തന്നേ കിടക്കട്ടെ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ നാണം ഞങ്ങളെ മൂടട്ടെ; ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരും യൌവനംമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടനുസരിച്ചിട്ടുമില്ല.
