Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his position.അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അമ്മോന്യരുടെ രാജാവായ നാഹാശ് മരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകൻ അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

And David said, I will show kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ്: നാഹാശ് എനിക്കു ദയ കാണിച്ചതു കൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ മകനായ ഹാനൂന്നു ഞാനും ദയ കാണിക്കും എന്നു പറ്ഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പനെക്കുറിച്ചു അവനോടു ആശ്വാസവാക്കു പറവാൻ ദാവീദ് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു. ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാർ അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു ഹാനൂന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അവനെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിപ്പാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Think you that David does honour your father, that he has sent comforters unto you? are not his servants come unto you in order to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?അമ്മോന്യ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ ഹാനൂനോടു: ദാവീദ് നിന്റെ അപ്പനെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചിട്ടാകുന്നു നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നവരെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു നിനക്കു തോന്നുന്നുവോ? ദേശത്തെ പരിശോധിപ്പാനും മുടിപ്പാനും ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാനും അല്ലയോ അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Wherefore Hanun took David's servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away.അപ്പോൾ ഹാനൂൻ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു ക്ഷൌരം ചെയ്യിച്ചു അവരുടെ അങ്കികളെ നടുവിൽ ആസനംവരെ മുറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു വിട്ടയച്ചു.

Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.ചിലർ ചെന്നു ആ പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ വസ്തുത ദാവീദിനെ അറിയിച്ചു; അവർ ഏറ്റവും ലജ്ജിച്ചിരിക്കയാൽ അവൻ അവരെ എതിരേല്പാൻ ആളയച്ചു; നിങ്ങളുടെ താടി വളരുന്നതുവരെ യെരീഹോവിൽ പാർത്തിട്ടു മടങ്ങിവരുവിൻ എന്നു രാജാവു പറയിച്ചു.

And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves abhorrent to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syriamaachah, and out of Zobah.തങ്ങൾ ദാവീദിന്നു വെറുപ്പായി എന്നു അമ്മോന്യർ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ഹാനൂനും അമ്മോന്യരും മെസൊപൊതാമ്യയിൽനിന്നും മയഖയോടു ചേർന്ന അരാമിൽനിന്നും സോബയിൽനിന്നും രഥങ്ങളെയും കുതിരപ്പടയാളികളെയും ആയിരം താലന്ത് വെള്ളി കൊടുത്തു കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങി.

So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.അവർ മുപ്പത്തീരായിരം രഥങ്ങളെയും മയഖാരാജാവിനെയും അവന്റെ പടജ്ജനത്തെയും കൂലിക്കു വാങ്ങി; അവർ വന്നു മെദേബെക്കു മുമ്പിൽ പാളയമിറങ്ങി; അമ്മോന്യരും അവരുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു വന്നുകൂടി പടെക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.ദാവീദ് അതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ യോവാബിനെയും വീരന്മാരുടെ സകലസൈന്യത്തെയും അയച്ചു.

And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come were by themselves in the field.അമ്മോന്യർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ പടിവാതിൽക്കൽ പടെക്കു അണിനിരന്നു; വന്ന രാജാക്കന്മാരോ തനിച്ചു വെളിൻ പ്രദേശത്തായിരുന്നു.

Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians.തന്റെ മുമ്പിലും പിമ്പിലും പട നിരന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ യോവാബ് എല്ലായിസ്രായേൽവീരന്മാരിൽനിന്നും ആളുകളെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു അരാമ്യർക്കെതിരെ അണിനിരത്തി.

And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of Abishai his brother, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.ശേഷം പടജ്ജനത്തെ അവൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായിയെ ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവർ അമ്മോന്യർക്കെതിരെ അണിനിരന്നു.

And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then you shall help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for you, then I will help you.പിന്നെ അവൻ: അരാമ്യർ എന്റെ നേരെ പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിച്ചാൽ നീ എനിക്കു സഹായം ചെയ്യേണം; അമ്മോന്യർ നിന്റെ നേരെ പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിച്ചാൽ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു സഹായം ചെയ്യും.

Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.ധൈര്യമായിരിക്ക; നാം നമ്മുടെ ജനത്തിന്നും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾക്കും വേണ്ടി പുരുഷത്വം കാണിക്കുക; യഹോവയോ തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമായതു ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.പിന്നെ യോവാബും കൂടെയുള്ള ജനവും അരാമ്യരോടു പടെക്കു അടുത്തു; അവർ അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടി.

And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.അരാമ്യർ ഓടിപ്പോയി എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അമ്മോന്യരും അതുപോലെ അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായിയുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടി, പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടന്നു; യോവാബ് യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോന്നു.

And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.തങ്ങൾ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു തോറ്റുപോയി എന്നു അരാമ്യർ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു നദിക്കു അക്കരെയുള്ള അരാമ്യരെ വരുത്തി; ഹദദേസെരിന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ ശോഫക്ക് അവരുടെ നായകനായിരുന്നു.

And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.അതു ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനെയും കൂട്ടി യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നു അവർക്കെതിരെ ചെന്നു അവരുടെ നേരെ അണിനിരത്തി. ദാവീദ് അരാമ്യർക്കു നേരെ പടെക്കു അണിനിരത്തിയ ശേഷം അവർ അവനോടു പടയേറ്റു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു.

But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.എന്നാൽ അരാമ്യർ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടി; ദാവീദ് അരാമ്യരിൽ ഏഴായിരം തേരാളികളെയും നാല്പതിനായിരം കാലാളുകളെയും നിഗ്രഹിച്ചു; സേനാപതിയായ ശോഫക്കിനെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.ഹദദേസെരിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ തങ്ങൾ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു തോറ്റുപോയെന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു ദാവീദിനോടു സന്ധിചെയ്തു അവന്നു കീഴടങ്ങി; അമ്മോന്യരെ സഹായിപ്പാൻ അരാമ്യർ പിന്നെ തുനിഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.

1 Chronicles 20

And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab stroke Rabbah, and destroyed it.പിറ്റെയാണ്ടില്‍ രാജാക്കന്മാര്‍ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുന്ന കാലത്തു യോവാബ് സൈന്യബലത്തോടെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശത്തെ ശൂന്യമാക്കീട്ടു ചെന്നു രബ്ബയെ വളഞ്ഞു. ദാവീദോ യെരൂശലേമില്‍ തന്നേ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു. യോവാബ് രബ്ബയെ പിടിച്ചു നശിപ്പിച്ചു.

And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David's head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city.ദാവീദ് അവരുടെ രാജാവിന്റെ കിരീടം അവന്റെ തലയില്‍നിന്നു എടുത്തു; അതിന്റെ തൂക്കം ഒരു താലന്തു പൊന്നു എന്നു കണ്ടു; അതില്‍ രത്നങ്ങളും പതിച്ചിരുന്നു; അതു ദാവീദിന്റെ തലയില്‍ വെച്ചു; അവന്‍ ആ പട്ടണത്തില്‍ നിന്നു അനവധി കൊള്ളയും കൊണ്ടുപോന്നു.

And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.അവന്‍ അതിലെ ജനത്തെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ഈര്‍ച്ചവാളിന്നും മെതിവണ്ടിക്കും കോടാലിക്കും ആക്കി; ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് അമ്മോന്യരുടെ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളോടും ചെയ്തു. പിന്നെ ദാവീദും സകലജനവും യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.

And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.അതിന്റെശേഷം ഗേസെരില്‍വെച്ചു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായി; ആ സമയത്തു ഹൂശാത്യനായ സിബ്ബെഖായി മല്ലന്മാരുടെ മക്കളില്‍ ഒരുത്തനായ സിപ്പായിയെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു; പിന്നെ അവര്‍ കീഴടങ്ങി.

And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver's beam.പിന്നെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായപ്പോള്‍ യായീരിന്റെ മകനായ എല്‍ഹാനാന്‍ ഗിത്യനായ ഗൊല്യാഥിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ലഹ്മിയെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു. അവന്റെ കുന്തത്തണ്ടു നെയ്ത്തുകാരന്റെ പടപ്പുതടിപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു.

And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot and he also was the son of the giant.വീണ്ടും ഗത്തില്‍വെച്ചു യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായി; അവിടെ ദീര്‍ഘകായനായ ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു ഔരോ കൈകൂ ആറാറുവിരലും ഔരോ കാലിന്നു ആറാറു വിരലും ആകെ ഇരുപത്തിനാലു വിരല്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവനും രാഫെക്കു ജനിച്ചവനായിരുന്നു.

But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David's brother slew him.അവന്‍ യിസ്രായേലിനെ ധിക്കരിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ദാവീദിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ശിമെയയുടെ മകനായ യോനാഥാന്‍ അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു.

These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.ഇവര്‍ ഗത്തില്‍ രാഫെക്കു ജനിച്ചവര്‍ ആയിരുന്നു; അവര്‍ ദാവീദിന്റെയും അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാരുടെയും കയ്യാല്‍ പട്ടുപോയി.

1 Chronicles 21

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.അനന്തരം സാത്താന്‍ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു വിരോധമായി എഴുന്നേറ്റു യിസ്രായേലിനെ എണ്ണുവാന്‍ ദാവീദിന്നു തോന്നിച്ചു.

And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.ദാവീദ് യോവാബീനോടും ജനത്തിന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടുംനിങ്ങള്‍ ചെന്നു ബേര്‍-ശേബമുതല്‍ ദാന്‍ വരെ യിസ്രായേലിനെ എണ്ണി അവരുടെ സംഖ്യ ഞാന്‍ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why then does my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?അതിന്നു യോവാബ്യഹോവ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ ഉള്ളതില്‍ നൂറിരട്ടിയായി വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ; എങ്കിലും എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, അവര്‍ ഒക്കെയും യജമാനന്റെ ദാസന്മാരല്ലയോ? യജമാനന്‍ ഈ കാര്യം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? യിസ്രായേലിന്നു കുറ്റത്തിന്റെ കാരണമായി തീരുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.എന്നാല്‍ യോവാബ് രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പന അനുസരിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടു യോവാബ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിലുംകൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നു.

And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.യോവാബ് ജനത്തെ എണ്ണിയ സംഖ്യ ദാവീദിന്നു കൊടുത്തുയിസ്രായേലില്‍ ആയുധപാണികള്‍ എല്ലാംകൂടി പതിനൊന്നുലക്ഷംപേര്‍. യെഹൂദയില്‍ ആയുധപാണികള്‍ നാലുലക്ഷത്തെഴുപതിനായിരം പേര്‍.

But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king's word was abominable to Joab.എന്നാല്‍ രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പന യോവാബിന്നു വെറുപ്പായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ ലേവിയെയും ബെന്യാമീനെയും അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തില്‍ എണ്ണിയില്ല.

And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he stroke Israel.ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഈ കാര്യം അനിഷ്ടമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ യിസ്രായേലിനെ ബാധിച്ചു.

And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I plead to you, do away the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.അപ്പോള്‍ ദാവീദ് ദൈവത്തോടുഈ കാര്യം ചെയ്തതിനാല്‍ ഞാന്‍ മഹാപാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നുഎന്നാല്‍ അടിയന്റെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേഞാന്‍ വലിയ ഭോഷത്വം ചെയ്തുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the LORD spoke unto Gad, David's seer, saying,യഹോവ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദര്‍ശകനായ ഗാദിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാല്‍

Go and tell David, saying, Thus says the LORD, I offer you three things: choose you one of them, that I may do it unto you.നീ ചെന്നു ദാവീദിനോടുഞാന്‍ മൂന്നു കാര്യം നിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ വെക്കുന്നു; അവയില്‍ ഒന്നു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തുകൊള്‍ക; അതു ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോടു ചെയ്യും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറക.

So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Choose youഅങ്ങനെ ഗാദ് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു അവനോടുയഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു

Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before your foes, while that the sword of yours enemies overtakes you; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise yourself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.മൂന്നു സംവത്സരത്തെ ക്ഷാമമോ, നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ വാള്‍ നിന്നെ തുടര്‍ന്നെത്തി നീ മൂന്നു മാസം നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളാല്‍ നശിക്കയോ, ദേശത്തു മൂന്നു ദിവസം യഹോവയുടെ വാളായ മാഹാമാരി ഉണ്ടായി യിസ്രായേല്‍ദേശത്തൊക്കെയും യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന്‍ സംഹാരം ചെയ്കയോ ഇവയില്‍ ഒന്നു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തുകൊള്‍ക. എന്നെ അയച്ചവനോടു ഞാന്‍ എന്തൊരു മറുപടി പറയേണ്ടു എന്നു ആലോചിച്ചുനോക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.ദാവീദ് ഗാദിനോടുഞാന്‍ വലിയ വിഷമത്തിലായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാന്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവയുടെ കയ്യില്‍ തന്നേ വീഴട്ടെ; അവന്റെ കരുണ ഏറ്റവും വലിയതല്ലോ; മനുഷ്യന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഞാന്‍ വീഴരുതേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.അങ്ങനെ യഹോവ ഇസ്രായേലില്‍ മഹാമാരി അയച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലില്‍ എഴുപതിനായിരംപേര്‍ വീണുപോയി.

And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now yours hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.ദൈവം യെരൂശലേമിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു ദൂതനെ അവിടെ അയച്ചു; അവന്‍ നശിപ്പിപ്പാന്‍ ഭാവിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ യഹോവ കണ്ടു ആ അനര്‍ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു നാശകദൂതനോടുമതി, നിന്റെ കൈ പിന്‍ വലിക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു, യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന്‍ യെബൂസ്യനായ ഒര്‍ന്നാന്റെ കളത്തിന്നരികെ നില്‍ക്കയായിരുന്നു.

And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.ദാവീദ് തല പൊക്കി, യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന്‍ വാള്‍ ഊരി യെരൂശലേമിന്നു മീതെ നീട്ടിപ്പിടിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടും ഭൂമിക്കും ആകാശത്തിന്നും മദ്ധ്യേ നിലക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു ദാവീദും മൂപ്പന്മാരും രട്ടുടുത്തു സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു.

And David said unto God, Is it not I that commanded the people to be numbered? even I it is that have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? let yours hand, I pray you, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father's house; but not on your people, that they should be plagued.ദാവീദ് ദൈവത്തോടുജനത്തെ എണ്ണുവാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞവന്‍ ഞാനല്ലയോ? ദോഷം ചെയ്ത പാപി ഞാന്‍ ആകുന്നു; ഈ ആടുകള്‍ എന്തു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു? യഹോവേ, എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, നിന്റെ കൈ ബാധക്കായിട്ടു നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്മേല്‍ അല്ല, എന്റെമേലും എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്മേലും ഇരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.അപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന്‍ ഗാദിനോടു ദാവീദ് ചെന്നു യെബൂസ്യനായ ഒര്‍ന്നാന്റെ കളത്തില്‍ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിയേണമെന്നു ദാവീദിനോടു പറവാന്‍ കല്പിച്ചു.

And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the LORD.യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തില്‍ ഗാദ് പറഞ്ഞ വചനപ്രകാരം ദാവീദ് ചെന്നു.

And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.ഒര്‍ന്നാന്‍ തിരിഞ്ഞു ദൂതനെ കണ്ടു തന്റെ നാലു പുത്രന്മാരുമായി ഒളിച്ചു. ഒര്‍ന്നാന്‍ കോതമ്പു മെതിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.ദാവീദ് ഒര്‍ന്നാന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നപ്പോള്‍ ഒര്‍ന്നാന്‍ നോക്കി ദാവീദിനെ കണ്ടു കളത്തില്‍നിന്നു പുറത്തുചെന്നു ദാവീദിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: you shall grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.ദാവീദ് ഒര്‍ന്നാനോടുഈ കളത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തു ഞാന്‍ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിയേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു എനിക്കു തരേണം; ബാധ ജനത്തെ വിട്ടുമാറേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അതു മുഴുവിലെക്കു എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Ornan said unto David, Take it to you, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give you the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the food offering; I give it all.അതിന്നു ഒര്‍ന്നാന്‍ ദാവീദിനോടുഅതു എടുത്തുകൊള്‍ക; യജമാനനായ രാജാവിന്റെ പ്രസാദംപോലെ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടാലും; ഇതാ ഞാന്‍ ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നു കാളകളെയും വിറകിന്നു മെതിവണ്ടികളെയും ഭോജനയാഗത്തിന്നു കോതമ്പിനെയും തരുന്നു; എല്ലാം ഞാന്‍ തരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is yours for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.ദാവീദ് രാജാവു ഒര്‍ന്നാനോടുഅങ്ങനെ അല്ല; ഞാന്‍ മുഴുവിലെക്കേ അതു വാങ്ങുകയുള്ളു; നിനക്കുള്ളതു ഞാന്‍ യഹോവെക്കായിട്ടു എടുക്കയില്ല; ചെലവുകൂടാതെ ഹോമയാഗം കഴിക്കയും ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു അറുനൂറു ശേക്കെല്‍ പൊന്നു ഒര്‍ന്നാന്നു കൊടുത്തു.

²⁶

And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.ദാവീദ് അവിടെ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു യാഗപീഠംപണിതു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും കഴിച്ചു യഹോവയോടു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചു; അവന്‍ ആകാശത്തില്‍നിന്നു ഹോമപീഠത്തിന്മേല്‍ തീ ഇറക്കി അവന്നു ഉത്തരം അരുളി.

And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.യഹോവ ദൂതനോടു കല്പിച്ചു; അവന്‍ തന്റെ വാള്‍ വീണ്ടും ഉറയില്‍ ഇട്ടു.

²⁸

At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.ആ കാലത്തു യെബൂസ്യനായ ഒര്‍ന്നാന്റെ കളത്തില്‍വെച്ചു യഹോവ തന്റെ പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനെക്കു ഉത്തരമരുളി എന്നു ദാവീദ് കണ്ടിട്ടു അവിടെ യാഗം കഴിച്ചു.

For the tabernacle of the LORD, which Moses made in the wilderness, and the altar of the burnt offering, were at that season in the high place at Gibeon.മോശെ മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ വെച്ചു ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ തിരുനിവാസവും ഹോമപീഠവും അന്നു ഗിബെയോനിലെ പൂജാഗിരിയില്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.

But David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന്റെ വാളിനെ പേടിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവത്തോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവിടെ ചെല്ലുവാന്‍ ദാവീദിന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

1 Chronicles 22

Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.ഇതു യഹോവയായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയം; ഇതു യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഹോമപീഠം എന്നു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞു.

And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set stone workers to hew wrought stones to build the house of God.അനന്തരം ദാവീദ് യിസ്രായേൽദേശത്തിലെ അന്യജാതിക്കാരെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയം പണിവാൻ ചതുരക്കല്ലു ചെത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ കല്പണിക്കാരെ നിയമിച്ചു.

And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight;ദാവീദ് പടിവാതിൽകതകുകളുടെ ആണികൾക്കായിട്ടും കൊളുത്തുകൾക്കായിട്ടും വളരെ ഇരിമ്പും തൂക്കമില്ലാതെ വളരെ താമ്രവും അനവധി ദേവദാരുവും ഒരുക്കി വെച്ചു.

Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David.സീദോന്യരും സോർയ്യരും അനവധി ദേവദാരു ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. എന്റെ മകൻ ശലോമോൻ ചെറുപ്പവും ഇളംപ്രായവുമുള്ളവൻ ആകുന്നു; യഹോവെക്കായി പണിയേണ്ടുന്ന ആലയമോ കീർത്തിയും ശോഭയുംകൊണ്ടു സർവ്വദേശങ്ങൾക്കും അതിമഹത്വമുള്ളതായിരിക്കേണം.

And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ അതിന്നു തക്കവണ്ണം വട്ടംകൂട്ടും എന്നു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ മരണത്തിന്നു മുമ്പെ ധാരാളം വട്ടംകൂട്ടി.

Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel.അവൻ തന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോനെ വിളിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാൻ കല്പന കൊടുത്തു.

And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God:ദാവീദ് ശലോമോനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: മകനേ, ഞാൻ തന്നേ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാൻ താല്പര്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars: you shall not build an house unto my name, because you have shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.എങ്കിലും എനിക്കു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ വളരെ രക്തം ചിന്തി വലിയ യുദ്ധങ്ങളും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടു; നീ എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയരുതു; നീ എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഭൂമിയിൽ ബഹു രക്തം ചിന്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.എന്നാൽ നിനക്കു ഒരു മകൻ ജനിക്കും; അവൻ വിശ്രമപുരുഷനായിരിക്കും; ഞാൻ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള അവന്റെ സകലശത്രുക്കളെയും നീക്കി അവന്നു വിശ്രമം കൊടുക്കും; അവന്റെ പേർ ശലോമോൻ എന്നു ആയിരിക്കും; അവന്റെ കാലത്തു ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു സമാധാനവും സ്വസ്ഥതയും നല്കും.

He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.അവൻ എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയും; അവൻ എനിക്കു മകനായും ഞാൻ അവന്നു അപ്പനായും ഇരിക്കും; യിസ്രായേലിൽ അവന്റെ രാജാസനം ഞാൻ എന്നേക്കും നിലനില്ക്കുമാറാക്കും.

Now, my son, the LORD be with you; and prosper you, and build the house of the LORD your God, as he has said of you.ആകയാൽ എന്റെ മകനേ, യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നീ കൃതാർത്ഥനായി അവന്റെ ആലയം പണിക.

Only the LORD give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം നീ ആചരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ നിനക്കു ജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും തന്നു നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു നിയമിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

Then shall you prosper, if you take heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു വേണ്ടി മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ച ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും നീ പ്രമാണിച്ചാചരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നീ കൃതാർത്ഥനാകും; ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു ഉറെച്ചിരിക്ക; ഭയപ്പെടരുതു, ഭ്രമിക്കയും അരുതു.

¹⁴

Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the LORD an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and you may add thereto.ഇതാ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ കഷ്ടത്തിൽ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്നായി ഒരു ലക്ഷം താലന്ത് പൊന്നും പത്തു ലക്ഷം താലന്ത് വെള്ളിയും പെരുപ്പം നിമിത്തം തൂക്കമില്ലാത്ത താമ്രവും ഇരിമ്പും സ്വരൂപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു; മരവും കല്ലുംകൂടെ ഞാൻ ഒരുക്കിവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിനക്കു ഇനിയും അതിനോടു ചേർത്തുകൊള്ളാമല്ലോ.

Moreover there are workmen with you in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work.നിന്റെ സ്വാധീനത്തിൽ കല്ലുവെട്ടുകാർ, കല്പണിക്കാർ, ആശാരികൾ എന്നിങ്ങനെ അനവധി പണിക്കാരും സകലവിധ കൌശലപ്പണിക്കാരും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ;

Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the LORD be with you.പൊന്നു, വെള്ളി, താമ്രം, ഇരിമ്പു എന്നിവ ധാരാളം ഉണ്ടു; ഉത്സാഹിച്ചു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുകൊൾക; യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,ദാവീദ് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും തന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോനെ സഹായിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു:

Is not the LORD your God with you? and has he not given you rest on every side? for he has given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the LORD, and before his people.നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; അവൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ചുറ്റും വിശ്രമം വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അവൻ ദേശനിവാസികളെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു ദേശം യഹോവെക്കും അവന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നും കീഴടങ്ങിയുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build all of you the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയവും മനസ്സും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പിൻ. എഴുന്നേല്പിൻ; യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകവും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധപാത്രങ്ങളും യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു പണിവാനുള്ള ആലയത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവയായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തെ പണിവിൻ.
