Proverbs 22

A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.അനവധിസമ്പത്തിലും സൽകീർത്തിയും വെള്ളിയിലും പൊന്നിലും കൃപയും നല്ലതു.

The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.ധനവാനും ദരിദ്രനും തമ്മിൽ കാണുന്നു; അവരെ ഒക്കെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയവൻ യഹോവ തന്നേ.

A prudent man forsees the evil, and hides himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.വിവേകമുള്ളവൻ അനർത്ഥം കണ്ടു ഒളിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു; അല്പബുദ്ധികളോ നേരെ ചെന്നു ചേതപ്പെടുന്നു.

By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.താഴ്മെക്കും യഹോവഭക്തിക്കും ഉള്ള പ്രതിഫലം ധനവും മാനവും ജീവനും ആകുന്നു.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse: he that does keep his soul shall be far from them.വക്രന്റെ വഴിയിൽ മുള്ളും കുടുക്കും ഉണ്ടു; തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നവൻ അവയോടു അകന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.ബാലൻ നടക്കേണ്ടുന്ന വഴിയിൽ അവനെ അഭ്യസിപ്പിക്ക; അവൻ വൃദ്ധനായാലും അതു വിട്ടുമാറുകയില്ല.

The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.ധനവാൻ ദരിദ്രന്മാരെ ഭരിക്കുന്നു; കടം മേടിക്കുന്നവൻ കടം കൊടുക്കുന്നവന്നു ദാസൻ.

He that sows iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.നീതികേടു വിതെക്കുന്നവൻ ആപത്തു കൊയ്യും; അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ വടി ഇല്ലാതെയാകും.

He that has a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he gives of his bread to the poor.ദയാകടാക്ഷമുള്ളവൻ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും; അവൻ തന്റെ ആഹാരത്തിൽനിന്നു അഗതിക്കു കൊടുക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.പരിഹാസിയെ നീക്കിക്കളക; അപ്പോൾ പിണക്കം പോയ്ക്കൊള്ളും; കലഹവും നിന്ദയും നിന്നുപോകും.

He that loves pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.ഹൃദയശുദ്ധി ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവന്നു അധരലാവണ്യം ഉണ്ടു; രാജാവു അവന്റെ സ്നേഹിതൻ.

The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthrows the words of the transgressor.യഹോവയുടെ കണ്ണു പരിജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവനെ കാക്കുന്നു; ദ്രോഹികളുടെ വാക്കോ അവൻ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

The slothful man says, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.വെളിയിൽ സിംഹം ഉണ്ടു, വീഥിയിൽ എനിക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരും എന്നു മടിയൻ പറയുന്നു.

The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ വായ് ആഴമുള്ള കുഴി ആകുന്നു; യഹോവയാൽ ത്യജിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ അതിൽ വീഴും.

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.ബാലന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ഭോഷത്വം പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ശിക്ഷെക്കുള്ള വടി അതിനെ അവനിൽ നിന്നു അകറ്റിക്കളയും.

He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to lack.ആദായം ഉണ്ടാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എളിയവനെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നവനും ധനവാന്നു കൊടുക്കുന്നവനും മുട്ടുള്ളവനായ്തീരും.

Bow down yours ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply yours heart unto my knowledge.ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ വചനങ്ങളെ ചെവിചായിച്ചു കേൾക്കുക; എന്റെ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തിന്നു മനസ്സുവെക്കുക.

For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; they shall likewise be fitted in your lips.അവയെ നിന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിൽ അവ ഒക്കെയും ഉറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും മനോഹരം.

That your trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to you this day, even to you.നിന്റെ ആശ്രയം യഹോവയിൽ ആയിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു, നിന്നോടു തന്നേ, ഉപദേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Have not I written to you excellent things in counsels and knowledge,നിന്നെ അയച്ചവർക്കും നീ നേരുള്ള മറുപടി കൊണ്ടുപോകേണ്ടതിന്നു നിനക്കു നേരുള്ള മറുപടിയുടെ നിശ്ചയം അറിയിച്ചുതരുവാൻ

That I might make you know the certainty of the words of truth; that you might answer the words of truth to them that send unto you?ആലോചനയും പരിജ്ഞാനവും അടങ്ങിയ സാരസംഗതികളെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു എഴുതീട്ടുണ്ടല്ലോ.

Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:എളിയവനോടു അവൻ എളിയവനാകകൊണ്ടു കവർച്ച ചെയ്യരുതു; അരിഷ്ടനെ പടിവാതിൽക്കൽവെച്ചു പീഡിപ്പിക്കയും അരുതു.

For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.യഹോവ അവരുടെ വ്യവഹാരം നടത്തും; അവരെ കൊള്ളയിട്ടവരുടെ ജീവനെ കൊള്ളയിടും.

²⁴

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man you shall not go:കോപശീലനോടു സഖിത്വമരുതു; ക്രോധമുള്ള മനുഷ്യനോടുകൂടെ നടക്കയും അരുതു.

²⁵

Lest you learn his ways, and get a snare to your soul.നീ അവന്റെ വഴികളെ പഠിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ പ്രാണൻ കണിയിൽ അകപ്പെടുവാനും സംഗതി വരരുതു.

²⁶

Be not you one of them that shake hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.നീ കയ്യടിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും കടത്തിന്നു ജാമ്യം നില്ക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും ആയ്പോകരുതു.

If you have nothing to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?വീട്ടുവാൻ നിനക്കു വകയില്ലാതെ വന്നിട്ടു നിന്റെ കീഴിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ മെത്ത എടുത്തുകളവാൻ ഇടവരുത്തുന്നതു എന്തിനു?

Remove not the ancient landmark, which your fathers have set.നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന പണ്ടത്തെ അതിർ നീ മാറ്റരുതു.

²⁹

See you a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.പ്രവൃത്തിയിൽ സാമർത്ഥ്യമുള്ള പുരുഷനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവൻ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നില്ക്കും; നീചന്മാരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ അവൻ നിൽക്കയില്ല.

Proverbs 23

When you sit to eat with a ruler, consider diligently what is before you:നീ അധിപതിയോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നു ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നവൻ ആരെന്നു കരുതിക്കൊൾക.

And put a knife to your throat, if you be a man given to appetite.നീ ഭോജനപ്രിയൻ ആകുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ നിന്റെ തൊണ്ടെക്കു ഒരു കത്തി വെച്ചുകൊൾക.

Be not desirous of his dainties: for they are deceitful food.അവന്റെ സ്വാദുഭോജനങ്ങളെ കൊതിക്കരുതു; അവ വഞ്ചിക്കുന്ന ഭോജനമല്ലോ.

Labour not to be rich: cease from yours own wisdom.ധനവാനാകേണ്ടതിന്നു പണിപ്പെടരുതു; അതിന്നായുള്ള ബുദ്ധി വിട്ടുകളക.

Will you set yours eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടി ധനത്തിന്മേൽ പതിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? അതു ഇല്ലാതെയായ്പോകുമല്ലോ. കഴുകൻ ആകാശത്തേക്കു എന്നപോലെ അതു ചിറകെടുത്തു പറന്നുകളയും.

Eat you not the bread of him that has an evil eye, neither desire you his dainty meats:കണ്ണുകടിയുള്ളവന്റെ അപ്പം തിന്നരുതു; അവന്റെ സ്വാദുഭോജ്യങ്ങളെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കയുമരുതു.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, says he to you; but his heart is not with you.അവൻ തന്റെ മനസ്സിൽ കണക്കു കൂട്ടുന്നതുപോലെ ആകുന്നു; തിന്നു കുടിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു അവൻ നിന്നോടു പറയും; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയമോ നിനക്കു അനുകൂലമല്ല.

The morsel which you have eaten shall you vomit up, and lose your sweet words.നീ തിന്ന കഷണം ഛർദ്ദിച്ചുപോകും; നിന്റെ മാധുര്യവാക്കു നഷ്ടമായെന്നും വരും.

Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of your words.ഭോഷൻ കേൾക്കെ നീ സംസാരിക്കരുതു; അവൻ നിന്റെ വാക്കുകളുടെ ജ്ഞാനത്തെ നിരസിച്ചുകളയും.

Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:പണ്ടേയുള്ള അതിർ നീക്കരുതു; അനാഥന്മാരുടെ നിലം ആക്രമിക്കയുമരുതു.

For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with you.അവരുടെ പ്രതികാരകൻ ബലവാനല്ലോ; അവർക്കു നിന്നോടുള്ള വ്യവഹാരം അവൻ നടത്തും.

Apply yours heart unto instruction, and yours ears to the words of knowledge.നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം പ്രബോധനത്തിന്നും നിന്റെ ചെവി പരിജ്ഞാനവചനങ്ങൾക്കും സമർപ്പിക്ക.

¹³

Withhold not correction from the child: for if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die.ബാലന്നു ശിക്ഷ കൊടുക്കാതിരിക്കരുതു; വടികൊണ്ടു അടിച്ചാൽ അവൻ ചത്തുപോകയില്ല.

¹⁴

You shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell.വടികൊണ്ടു അവനെ അടിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ നീ അവന്റെ പ്രാണനെ പാതാളത്തിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും.

¹⁵

My son, if yours heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.മകനേ, നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ജ്ഞാനത്തെ പഠിച്ചാൽ എന്റെ ഹൃദയവും സന്തോഷിക്കും.

¹⁶

Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when your lips speak right things.നിന്റെ അധരം നേർ സംസാരിച്ചാൽ എന്റെ അന്തരംഗങ്ങൾ ആനന്ദിക്കും.

¹⁷

Let not yours heart envy sinners: but be you in the fear of the LORD all the day long.നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം പാപികളോടു അസൂയപ്പെടരുതു; നീ എല്ലായ്പോഴും യഹോവഭക്തിയോടിരിക്ക.

¹⁸

For surely there is an end; and yours expectation shall not be cut off.ഒരു പ്രതിഫലം ഉണ്ടാകും നിശ്ചയം; നിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശെക്കു ഭംഗം വരികയുമില്ല.

Hear you, my son, and be wise, and guide yours heart in the way.മകനേ, കേട്ടു ജ്ഞാനം പഠിക്ക; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ നേർവഴിയിൽ നടത്തിക്കൊൾക.

Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:നീ വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലും മാംസഭോജനപ്രിയരുടെ ഇടയിലും ഇരിക്കരുതു.

For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.കുടിയനും അതിഭക്ഷകനും ദരിദ്രരായ്തീരും; നിദ്രാലുത്വം പഴന്തുണി ഉടുക്കുമാറാക്കും.

Hearken unto your father that brings forth you, and despise not your mother when she is old.നിന്നെ ജനിപ്പിച്ച അപ്പന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്ക; നിന്റെ അമ്മ വൃദ്ധയായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവളെ നിന്ദിക്കരുതു.

Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.നീ സത്യം വിൽക്കയല്ല വാങ്ങുയത്രേ വേണ്ടതു; ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും വിവേകവും അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ.

²⁴

The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that bring forths a wise child shall have joy of him.നീതിമാന്റെ അപ്പൻ ഏറ്റവും ആനന്ദിക്കും; ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ ജനകൻ അവനിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കും.

²⁵

Your father and your mother shall be glad, and she that bare you shall rejoice.നിന്റെ അമ്മയപ്പന്മാർ സന്തോഷിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്നെ പ്രസവിച്ചവൾ ആനന്ദിക്കട്ടെ.

²⁶

My son, give me yours heart, and let yours eyes observe my ways.മകനേ, നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം എനിക്കു തരിക; എന്റെ വഴി നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നു ഇമ്പമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

²⁷

For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit.വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീ ആഴമുള്ള കുഴിയും പരസ്ത്രീ ഇടുക്കമുള്ള കിണറും ആകുന്നു.

²⁸

She also lies in wait as for a prey, and increases the transgressors among men.അവൾ പിടിച്ചുപറിക്കാരനെപ്പോലെ പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; മനുഷ്യരിൽ ദ്രോഹികളെ വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

Who has woe? who has sorrow? who has contentions? who has babbling? who has wounds without cause? who has redness of eyes?ആർക്കു കഷ്ടം, ആർക്കു സങ്കടം, ആർക്കു കലഹം? ആർക്കു ആവലാതി, ആർക്കു അനാവശ്യമായ മുറിവുകൾ, ആർക്കു കൺചുവപ്പു?

They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.വീഞ്ഞു കുടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നേരം വൈകിക്കുന്നവർക്കും മദ്യം രുചിനോക്കുവാൻ പോകുന്നവർക്കും തന്നേ.

Look not you upon the wine when it is red, when it gives his colour in the cup, when it moves itself aright.വീഞ്ഞു ചുവന്നു പാത്രത്തിൽ തിളങ്ങുന്നതും രസമായി ഇറക്കുന്നതും നീ നോക്കരുതു.

At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.ഒടുക്കം അതു സർപ്പംപോലെ കടിക്കും; അണലിപോലെ കൊത്തും.

Yours eyes shall behold strange women, and yours heart shall utter perverse things.നിന്റെ കണ്ണു പരസ്ത്രീകളെ നോക്കും; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം വക്രത പറയും.

³⁴

Yea, you shall be as he that lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lies upon the top of a mast.നീ നടുക്കടലിൽ ശയിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും പാമരത്തിന്റെ മുകളിൽ ഉറങ്ങുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും ആകും.

³⁵

They have stricken me, shall you say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.അവർ എന്നെ അടിച്ചു എനിക്കു നൊന്തില്ല; അവർ എന്നെ തല്ലി, ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞതുമില്ല. ഞാൻ എപ്പോൾ ഉണരും? ഞാൻ ഇനിയും അതു തന്നേ തേടും എന്നു നീ പറയും.

Proverbs 24

Be not you envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോടു അസൂയപ്പെടരുതു; അവരോടുകൂടെ ഇരിപ്പാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കയുമരുതു.

For their heart studies destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം സാഹസം ചിന്തിക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ അധരം വേണ്ടാതനം പറയുന്നു.

Through wisdom is an house built; and by understanding it is established:ജ്ഞാനംകൊണ്ടു ഭവനം പണിയുന്നു; വിവേകംകൊണ്ടു അതു സ്ഥിരമായിവരുന്നു.

And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.പരിജ്ഞാനംകൊണ്ടു അതിന്റെ മുറികളിൽ വലിയേറിയതും മനോഹരവുമായ സകല സമ്പത്തും നിറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increases strength.ജ്ഞാനിയായ പുരുഷൻ ബലവാനാകുന്നു; പരിജ്ഞാനമുള്ളവൻ ബലം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

For by wise counsel you shall make your war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.ഭരണസാമർത്ഥ്യത്തോടെ നീ യുദ്ധം നടത്തി ജയിക്കും; മന്ത്രിമാരുടെ ബഹുത്വത്തിൽ രക്ഷയുണ്ടു.

Wisdom is too high for a fool: he opens not his mouth in the gate.ജ്ഞാനം ഭോഷന്നു അത്യുന്നതമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ പട്ടണവാതിൽക്കൽ വായ് തുറക്കുന്നില്ല.

He that devises to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.ദോഷം ചെയ്‍വാൻ നിരൂപിക്കുന്നവനെ ദുഷ്കർമ്മി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു;

The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.ഭോഷന്റെ നിരൂപണം പാപം തന്നേ; പരിഹാസി മനുഷ്യർക്കു വെറുപ്പാകുന്നു.

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.കഷ്ടകാലത്തു നീ കുഴഞ്ഞുപോയാൽ നിന്റെ ബലം നഷ്ടം തന്നേ.

¹¹

If you forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;മരണത്തിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നവരെ വിടുവിക്ക; കുലെക്കായി വിറെച്ചു ചെല്ലുന്നവരെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ നോക്കുക.

If you says, Behold, we knew it not; does not he that ponders the heart consider it? and he that keeps your soul, does not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?ഞങ്ങൾ അറിഞ്ഞില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു നീ പറഞ്ഞാൽ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നവൻ ഗ്രഹിക്കയില്ലയോ? നിന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കാക്കുന്നവൻ അറികയില്ലയോ? അവൻ മനുഷ്യന്നു പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം പകരം കൊടുക്കയില്ലയോ?

My son, eat you honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to your taste:മകനേ, തേൻ തിന്നുക; അതു നല്ലതല്ലോ; തേങ്കട്ട നിന്റെ അണ്ണാക്കിന്നു മധുരമത്രേ.

¹⁴

So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto your soul: when you have found it, then there shall be a reward, and your expectation shall not be cut off.ജ്ഞാനവും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ എന്നറിക; നീ അതു പ്രാപിച്ചാൽ പ്രതിഫലം ഉണ്ടാകും; നിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശെക്കു ഭംഗം വരികയുമില്ല.

Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:ദുഷ്ടാ, നീ നീതിമാന്റെ പാർപ്പിടത്തിന്നു പതിയിരിക്കരുതു; അവന്റെ വിശ്രാമസ്ഥലത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കയുമരുതു.

For a just man falls seven times, and rises up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.നീതിമാൻ ഏഴുപ്രാവശ്യം വീണാലും എഴുന്നേല്ക്കും; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോ അനർത്ഥത്തിൽ നശിച്ചുപോകും.

Rejoice not when yours enemy falls, and let not yours heart be glad when he stumbles:നിന്റെ ശത്രു വീഴുമ്പോൾ സന്തോഷിക്കരുതു; അവൻ ഇടറുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ആനന്ദിക്കരുതു.

Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.യഹോവ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന്നു ഇഷ്ടക്കേടാകുവാനും തന്റെ കോപം അവങ്കൽനിന്നു മാറ്റിക്കളവാനും മതി.

Fret not yourself because of evil men, neither be you envious at the wicked:ദുഷ്‌പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാർ നിമിത്തം മുഷിയരുതു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരോടു അസൂയപ്പെടുകയും അരുതു.

For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.ദോഷിക്കു പ്രതിഫലമുണ്ടാകയില്ല; ദുഷ്ടന്റെ വിളക്കു കെട്ടുപോകും.

My son, fear you the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:മകനേ, യഹോവയെയും രാജാവിനെയും ഭയപ്പെടുക; മത്സരികളോടു ഇടപെടരുതു.

For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knows the ruin of them both?അവരുടെ ആപത്തു പെട്ടെന്നു വരും; രണ്ടു കൂട്ടർക്കും വരുന്ന നാശം ആരറിയുന്നു?

These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.ഇവയും ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ വാക്യങ്ങൾ. ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിൽ മുഖദാക്ഷിണ്യം നന്നല്ല.

He that says unto the wicked, You are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall detest him:ദുഷ്ടനോടു നീ നീതിമാൻ എന്നു പറയുന്നവനെ ജാതികൾ ശപിക്കയും വംശങ്ങൾ വെറുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.അവനെ ശാസിക്കുന്നവർക്കോ നന്മ ഉണ്ടാകും; നല്ലോരനുഗ്രഹം അവരുടെ മേൽ വരും.

Every man shall kiss his lips that gives a right answer.നേരുള്ള ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നവൻ അധരങ്ങളെ ചുംബനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Prepare your work without, and make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterwards build yours house.വെളിയിൽ നിന്റെ വേല ചെയ്ക; വയലിൽ എല്ലാം തീർക്കുക; പിന്നെത്തേതിൽ നിന്റെ വീടു പണിയുക.

Be not a witness against your neighbour without cause; and deceive not with your lips.കാരണം കൂടാതെ കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷിനിൽക്കരുതു; നിന്റെ അധരംകൊണ്ടു ചതിക്കയും അരുതു.

Say not, I will do so to him as he has done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.അവൻ എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞാൻ അവനോടു ചെയ്യുമെന്നും ഞാൻ അവന്നു അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു പകരം കൊടുക്കും എന്നും നീ പറയരുതു.

I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;ഞാൻ മടിയന്റെ കണ്ടത്തിന്നരികെയും ബുദ്ധിഹീനന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിന്നു സമീപെയും കൂടി പോയി.

And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.അവിടെ മുള്ളു പടർന്നുപിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും തൂവ നിറഞ്ഞു നിലം മൂടിയിരിക്കുന്നതും അതിന്റെ കന്മതിൽ ഇടിഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നതും കണ്ടു.

Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.ഞാൻ അതു നോക്കി വിചാരിക്കയും അതു കണ്ടു ഉപദേശം പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:കുറെക്കൂടെ ഉറക്കം, കുറെക്കൂടെ നിദ്ര, കുറെക്കൂടെ കൈ കെട്ടി കിടക്ക.

So shall your poverty come as one that travels; and your lack as an armed man.അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം വഴിപോക്കനെപ്പോലെയും നിന്റെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടു ആയുധപാണിയെപ്പോലെയും വരും.
