Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,ദാവീദിന്നു മരണകാലം അടുത്തുവന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ തന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോനോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:

I go the way of all the earth: be you strong therefore, and show yourself a man;ഞാൻ സകലഭൂവാസികളുടെയും വഴിയായി പോകുന്നു; നീ ധൈര്യംപൂണ്ടു പുരുഷനായിരിക്ക.

And keep the charge of the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and anywhere you turn yourself:നീ എന്തു ചെയ്താലും എവിടേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞാലും സകലത്തിലും നീ കൃതാർത്ഥനാകേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ മക്കൾ പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണ മനസ്സോടുംകൂടെ എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ സത്യമായി നടന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ വഴി സൂക്ഷിച്ചാൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിപ്പാൻ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ നിനക്കു ഇല്ലാതെ പോകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനം താൻ ഉറപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നുമായി

That the LORD may continue his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, If your children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail you (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ വഴികളിൽ നടന്നു അവന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളും കല്പനകളും വിധികളും സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളും പ്രമാണിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ആജ്ഞ അനുസരിച്ചുകൊൾക.

Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.വിശേഷിച്ചു സെരൂയയുടെ മകൻ യോവാബ് എന്നോടു ചെയ്തതു, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രണ്ടു സേനാധിപന്മാരായ നേരിന്റെ മകൻ അബ്നേരിനോടും യേഥെരിന്റെ മകൻ അമാസയോടും ചെയ്തതു തന്നേ നീയും അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; അവൻ അവരെ കൊന്നു സമാധാനസമയത്തു യുദ്ധരക്തം ചൊരിഞ്ഞു യുദ്ധരക്തം തന്റെ അരക്കച്ചയിലും കാലിലെ ചെരിപ്പിലും ആക്കിയല്ലോ.

Do therefore according to your wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace.ആകയാൽ നീ ജ്ഞാനം പ്രയോഗിച്ചു അവന്റെ നരയെ സമാധാനത്തോടെ പാതാളത്തിൽ ഇറങ്ങുവാൻ സമ്മതിക്കരുതു.

But show kindness unto the sons of Barzillai the Gileadite, and let them be of those that eat at your table: for so they came to me when I fled because of Absalom your brother.എന്നാൽ ഗിലെയാദ്യനായ ബർസില്ലായിയുടെ മക്കൾക്കു നീ ദയകാണിക്കേണം; അവർ നിന്റെ മേശയിങ്കൽ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കുന്നവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഞാൻ ഓടിപ്പോകുമ്പോൾ അവർ അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ എന്നോടും പെരുമാറി.

And, behold, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I swore to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put you to death with the sword.പിന്നെ ബഹൂരീമിലെ ബെന്യാമീന്യനായ ഗേരയുടെ മകൻ ശിമെയി എന്നൊരുവൻ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; ഞാൻ മഹനയീമിലേക്കു പോകുന്ന ദിവസം അവൻ എന്നെ കഠിനശാപത്തോടെ ശപിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും അവൻ യോർദ്ദാങ്കൽ എന്നെ എതിരേറ്റുവന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊല്ലുകയില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ യഹോവാനാമത്തിൽ അവനോടു സത്യംചെയ്തു.

Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for you are a wise man, and know what you ought to do unto him; but his hoar head bring you down to the grave with blood.എന്നാൽ നീ അവനെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടരുതു; നീ ബുദ്ധിമാനല്ലോ; അവനോടു എന്തു ചെയ്യേണമെന്നു നീ അറിയും; അവന്റെ നരയെ രക്തത്തോടെ പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു അയക്കുക.

So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.ദാവീദ് യിസ്രായേലിൽ വാണ കാലം നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം. അവൻ ഹെബ്രോനിൽ ഏഴു സംവത്സരവും യെരൂശലേമിൽ മുപ്പത്തുമൂന്നു സംവത്സരവും വാണു.

Then sat Solomon upon the throne of David his father; and his kingdom was established greatly.ശലോമോൻ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു; അവന്റെ രാജത്വം ഏറ്റവും സ്ഥിരമായിവന്നു.

And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Come you peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.എന്നാൽ ഹഗ്ഗീത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അദോനീയാവു ശലോമോന്റെ അമ്മയായ ബത്ത്-ശേബയെ ചെന്നുകണ്ടു; നിന്റെ വരവു ശുഭമോ എന്നു അവൾ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ശുഭം തന്നേ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

He said moreover, I have somewhat to say unto you. And she said, Say on.എനിക്കു നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം പറവാനുണ്ടു എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. പറക എന്നു അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, You know that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me, that I should reign: nevertheless the kingdom is turned about, and is become my brother's: for it was his from the LORD.അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: രാജത്വം എനിക്കുള്ളതായിരുന്നു; ഞാൻ വാഴേണ്ടതിന്നു യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നു എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നാൽ രാജത്വം മറിഞ്ഞു എന്റെ സഹോദരന്നു ആയിപ്പോയി; യഹോവയാൽ അതു അവന്നു ലഭിച്ചു.

And now I ask one petition of you, deny me not. And she said unto him, Say on.എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു ഒരു കാര്യം അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; അതു തള്ളിക്കളയരുതേ. നീ പറക എന്നു അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Speak, I pray you, unto Solomon the king, (for he will not say you nay,) that he give me Abishag the Shunammite to wife.അപ്പോൾ അവൻ: ശൂനേംകാരത്തിയായ അബീശഗിനെ എനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു തരുവാൻ ശലോമോൻ രാജാവിനോടു പറയേണമേ; അവൻ നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ തള്ളുകയില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Bathsheba said, Well; I will speak for you unto the king.ആകട്ടെ; ഞാൻ നിനക്കുവേണ്ടി രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിക്കാം എന്നു ബത്ത്-ശേബ പറഞ്ഞു.

Bathsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonijah. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king's mother; and she sat on his right hand.അങ്ങനെ ബത്ത്-ശേബ അദോനീയാവിന്നുവേണ്ടി ശലോമോൻ രാജാവിനോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു. രാജാവു എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവളെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു വന്ദനം ചെയ്തു തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു രാജമാതാവിന്നു ഇരിപ്പാൻ കൊടുപ്പിച്ചു; അവൾ അവന്റെ വലത്തുഭാഗത്തു ഇരുന്നു.

Then she said, I desire one small petition of you; I pray you, say me not nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say you nay.ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു ഒരു ചെറിയ കാര്യം അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ തള്ളിക്കളയരുതു എന്നു അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു. രാജാവു അവളോടു: എന്റെ അമ്മേ, ചോദിച്ചാലും; ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ തള്ളുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And she said, Let Abishag the Shunammite be given to Adonijah your brother to wife.അപ്പോൾ അവൾ: ശൂനേംകാരത്തിയായ അബീശഗിനെ നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അദോനീയാവിന്നു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.ശലോമോൻ രാജാവു തന്റെ അമ്മയോടു: ശൂനേംകാരത്തിയായ അബീശഗിനെ അദോനീയാവിന്നു വേണ്ടി ചോദിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? രാജത്വത്തെയും അവന്നുവേണ്ടി ചോദിക്കരുതോ? അവൻ എന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠനല്ലോ; അവന്നും പുരോഹിതൻ അബ്യാഥാരിന്നും സെരൂയയുടെ മകൻ യോവാബിന്നും വേണ്ടി തന്നേ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

Then king Solomon swore by the LORD, saying, God do so to me, and more also, if Adonijah have not spoken this word against his own life.അദോനീയാവു ഈ കാര്യം ചോദിച്ചതു തന്റെ ജീവനാശത്തിന്നായിട്ടല്ലെങ്കിൽ ദൈവം തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും എന്നോടു ചെയ്യട്ടെ;

Now therefore, as the LORD lives, which has established me, and set me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me an house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.ആകയാൽ എന്നെ സ്ഥിരപ്പെടുത്തിയവനും എന്നെ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുത്തി തന്റെ വാഗ്ദാനപ്രകാരം എനിക്കു ഒരു ഗൃഹം പണിതവനുമായ യഹോവയാണ, ഇന്നു തന്നേ അദോനീയാവു മരിക്കേണം എന്നു ശലോമോൻ രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു യഹോവനാമത്തിൽ സത്യം ചെയ്തു.

And king Solomon sent by the hand of Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; and he fell upon him that he died.പിന്നെ ശലോമോൻ രാജാവു യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവെ അയച്ചു; അവൻ അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get you to Anathoth, unto yours own fields; for you are worthy of death: but I will not at this time put you to death, because you bare the ark of the LORD God before David my father, and because you have been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.അബ്യാഥാർപുരോഹിതനോടു രാജാവു: നീ അനാഥോത്തിലെ നിന്റെ ജന്മഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക; നീ മരണയോഗ്യനാകുന്നു; എങ്കിലും നീ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കർത്താവായ യഹോവയുടെ പെട്ടകം ചുമന്നതുകൊണ്ടും എന്റെ അപ്പൻ അനുഭവിച്ച സകലകഷ്ടങ്ങളെയും നീ കൂടെ അനുഭവിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest unto the LORD; that he might fulfill the word of the LORD, which he spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ ശീലോവിൽവെച്ചു ഏലിയുടെ കുടുംബത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനത്തിന്നു നിവൃത്തിവരേണ്ടതിന്നു ശലോമോൻ അബ്യാഥാരിനെ യഹോവയുടെ പൌരോഹിത്യത്തിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

Then tidings came to Joab: for Joab had turned after Adonijah, though he turned not after Absalom. And Joab fled unto the tabernacle of the LORD, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.ഈ വർത്തമാനം യോവാബിന്നു എത്തിയപ്പോൾ--യോവാബ് അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേർന്നിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും അദോനീയാവിന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേർന്നിരുന്നു--അവൻ യഹോവയുടെ കൂടാരത്തിൽ ഓടിച്ചെന്നു യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ കൊമ്പുകളെ പിടിച്ചു.

And it was told king Solomon that Joab was fled unto the tabernacle of the LORD; and, behold, he is by the altar. Then Solomon sent Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, saying, Go, fall upon him.യോവാബ് യഹോവയുടെ കൂടാരത്തിൽ ഓടിച്ചെന്നു യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നില്ക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശലോമോൻ രാജാവിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി. അപ്പോൾ ശലോമോൻ യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവെ അയച്ചു: നീ ചെന്നു അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കളക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the LORD, and said unto him, Thus says the king, Come forth. And he said, Nay; but I will die here. And Benaiah brought the king word again, saying, Thus said Joab, and thus he answered me.ബെനായാവു യെഹോവയുടെ കൂടാരത്തിൽ ചെന്നു: നീ പുറത്തുവരിക എന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. ഇല്ല; ഞാൻ ഇവിടെ തന്നെ മരിക്കും എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. ബെനായാവു ചെന്നു: യോവാബ് ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുന്നു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവൻ എന്നോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു എന്നു രാജാവിനെ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

And the king said unto him, Do as he has said, and fall upon him, and bury him; that you may take away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my father.രാജാവു അവനോടു കല്പിച്ചതു: അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ നീ ചെയ്ക; അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു കുഴിച്ചിടുക; യോവാബ് കാരണം കൂടാതെ ചിന്നിയ രക്തം നീ ഇങ്ങനെ എങ്കൽ നിന്നും എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിങ്കൽനിന്നും നീക്കിക്കളക.

And the LORD shall return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to know, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.അവന്റെ രക്തപാതകം യഹോവ അവന്റെ തലമേൽ തന്നേ വരുത്തും; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സേനാധിപതിയായ നേരിന്റെ മകൻ അബ്നേർ, യെഹൂദയുടെ സേനാധിപതിയായ യേഥെരിന്റെ മകൻ അമാസാ എന്നിങ്ങനെ തന്നെക്കാൾ നീതിയും സൽഗുണവുമുള്ള രണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാരെ അവൻ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദ് അറിയാതെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the LORD.അവരുടെ രക്തം എന്നേക്കും യോവാബിന്റെയും അവന്റെ സന്തതിയുടെയും തലമേൽ ഇരിക്കും; ദാവീദിന്നും അവന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും ഗൃഹത്തിന്നും സിംഹാസനത്തിന്നും യഹോവയിങ്കൽനിന്നു എന്നേക്കും സമാധാനം ഉണ്ടാകും.

So Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and slew him: and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.അങ്ങനെ യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവു ചെന്നു അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു; മരുഭൂമിയിലെ അവന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.

And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host: and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar.രാജാവു അവന്നു പകരം യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകനായ ബെനായാവെ സേനാധിപതിയാക്കി അബ്യാഥാരിന്നു പകരം സാദോക്ക് പുരോഹിതനെയും നിയമിച്ചു.

And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Build you an house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth thence any where.പിന്നെ രാജാവു ആളയച്ചു ശിമെയിയെ വരുത്തി അവനോടു: നീ യെരൂശലേമിൽ നിനക്കു ഒരു വീടു പണിതു പാർത്തുകൊൾക; അവിടെനിന്നു പുറത്തെങ്ങും പോകരുതു.

For it shall be, that on the day you go out, and pass over the brook Kidron, you shall know for certain that you shall surely die: your blood shall be upon yours own head.പുറത്തിറങ്ങി കിദ്രോൻ തോടു കടക്കുന്ന നാളിൽ നീ മരിക്കേണ്ടിവരും എന്നു തീർച്ചയായി അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക; നിന്റെ രക്തം നിന്റെ തലമേൽ തന്നേ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And Shimei said unto the king, The saying is good: as my lord the king has said, so will your servant do. And Shimei dwelt in Jerusalem many days.ശിമെയി രാജാവിനോടു: അതു നല്ലവാക്കു; യജമാനനായ രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അടിയൻ ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ശിമെയി കുറെക്കാലം യെരൂശലേമിൽ പാർത്തു.

And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away unto Achish son of Maachah king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, Behold, your servants be in Gath.മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ശിമെയിയുടെ രണ്ടു അടിമകൾ മാഖയുടെ മകനായ ആഖീശ് എന്ന ഗത്ത്‌രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഓടിപ്പോയി; തന്റെ അടിമകൾ ഗത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടെന്നു ശിമെയിക്കു അറിവുകിട്ടി.

And Shimei arose, and saddled his ass, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants: and Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath.അപ്പോൾ ശിമെയി എഴുന്നേറ്റു കഴുതെക്കു കോപ്പിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു അടിമകളെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ ഗത്തിൽ ആഖീശിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോയി; അങ്ങനെ ശിമെയി ചെന്നു അടിമകളെ ഗത്തിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടു വന്നു.

And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come again.ശിമെയി യെരൂശലേം വിട്ടു ഗത്തിൽ പോയി മടങ്ങിവന്നു എന്നു ശലോമോന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി.

And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said unto him, Did I not make you to swear by the LORD, and protested unto you, saying, Know for a certain, on the day you go out, and walk abroad any where, that you shall surely die? and you said unto me, The word that I have heard is good.അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു ആളയച്ചു ശിമെയിയെ വരുത്തി അവനോടു: നീ പുറത്തിറങ്ങി എവിടെയെങ്കിലും പോകുന്നനാളിൽ മരിക്കേണ്ടിവരുമെന്നു തീർച്ചയായി അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക എന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു യഹോവാനാമത്തിൽ സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചു സാക്ഷീകരിക്കയും ഞാൻ കേട്ട വാക്കു നല്ലതെന്നു നീ എന്നോടു പറകയും ചെയ്തില്ലയോ?

Why then have you not kept the oath of the LORD, and the commandment that I have charged you with?അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നീ യഹോവയുടെ ആണയും ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ച കല്പനയും പ്രമാണിക്കാതെ ഇരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

The king said moreover to Shimei, You know all the wickedness which yours heart is privy to, that you did to David my father: therefore the LORD shall return your wickedness upon yours own head;പിന്നെ രാജാവു ശിമെയിയോടു: നീ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിനോടു ചെയ്തതും നിനക്കു ഓർമ്മയുള്ളതും ആയ ദോഷമൊക്കെയും നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; യഹോവ നിന്റെ ദോഷം നിന്റെ തലമേൽ തന്നേ വരുത്തും.

And king Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD for ever.എന്നാൽ ശലോമോൻ രാജാവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവനും ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ എന്നേക്കും സ്ഥിരവുമായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു

So the king commanded Benaiah the son of Jehoiada; which went out, and fell upon him, that he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.രാജാവു യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകൻ ബെനായാവോടു കല്പിച്ചു; അവൻ ചെന്നു അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു. അങ്ങനെ രാജത്വം ശലോമോന്റെ കയ്യിൽ സ്ഥിരമായി.

And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.അനന്തരം ശലോമോൻ മിസ്രയീംരാജാവായ ഫറവോനോടു സംബന്ധംകൂടി, ഫറവോന്റെ മകളെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തു; തന്റെ അരമനയും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയവും യെരൂശലേമിന്നു ചുറ്റും മതിലും പണിതു തീരുവോളം അവളെ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു പാർപ്പിച്ചു.

Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.എന്നാൽ ആ കാലംവരെ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയാതെ ഇരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളിൽവെച്ചു യാഗം കഴിച്ചുപോന്നു.

And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.ശലോമോൻ യഹോവയെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു, തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടന്നു എങ്കിലും അവൻ പൂജാഗിരികളിൽവെച്ചു യാഗം കഴിക്കയും ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തു.

And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.രാജാവു ഗിബെയോനിൽ യാഗം കഴിപ്പാൻ പോയി; അതു പ്രധാനപൂജാഗിരിയായിരുന്നു; അവിടത്തെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ ശലോമോൻ ആയിരം ഹോമയാഗം അർപ്പിച്ചു.

In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give you.ഗിബെയോനിൽവെച്ചു യഹോവ രാത്രിയിൽ ശലോമോന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി; നിനക്കു വേണ്ടുന്ന വരം ചോദിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു ദൈവം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

And Solomon said, You have showed unto your servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.അതിന്നു ശലോമോൻ പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദ് എന്ന നിന്റെ ദാസൻ സത്യത്തോടും നീതിയോടും ഹൃദയപരമാർത്ഥതയോടും കൂടെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നടന്നതിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം നീ അവന്നു വലിയ കൃപ ചെയ്തു ഈ വലിയ കൃപ അവന്നായി പാലിക്കയും ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ അവന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിപ്പാൻ അവന്നു ഒരു മകനെ നല്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

And now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നീ അടിയനെ ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്നു പകരം രാജാവാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാനോ ഒരു ബാലനത്രേ; കാര്യാദികൾ നടത്തുവാൻ എനിക്കു അറിവില്ല.

And your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.നീ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതും പെരുപ്പംനിമിത്തം എണ്ണവും കണക്കും ഇല്ലാത്തതുമായി വലിയോരു മഹാജാതിയായ നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ അടിയൻ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

Give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this your so great a people?ആകയാൽ ഗുണവും ദോഷവും തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്‍വാൻ വിവേകമുള്ളോരു ഹൃദയം എനിക്കു തരേണമേ; അതുകൂടാതെ നിന്റെ ഈ വലിയ ജനത്തിന്നു ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്‍വാൻ ആർക്കു കഴിയും.

And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing.ശലോമോൻ ഈ കാര്യം ചോദിച്ചതു കർത്താവിന്നു പ്രസാദമായി.

¹¹

And God said unto him, Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life; neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of yours enemies; but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgment;ദൈവം അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ ദീർഘായുസ്സോ സമ്പത്തോ ശത്രുസംഹാരമോ ഒന്നും അപേക്ഷിക്കാതെ ന്യായപാലനത്തിന്നുള്ള വിവേകം എന്ന ഈ കാര്യം മാത്രം അപേക്ഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു

Behold, I have done according to your words: lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like unto you.ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷപ്രകാരം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകമുള്ളോരു ഹൃദയം ഞാൻ നിനക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നിനക്കു സമനായവൻ നിനക്കു മുമ്പു ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല; നിനക്കു സമനായവൻ നിന്റെശേഷം ഉണ്ടാകയും ഇല്ല.

And I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto you all your days.ഇതിന്നുപുറമെ, നീ അപേക്ഷിക്കാത്തതായ സമ്പത്തും മഹത്വവും കൂടെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലത്തൊക്കെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരിൽ ഒരുത്തനും നിനക്കു സമനാകയില്ല.

And if you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David did walk, then I will lengthen your days.നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദ് നടന്നതുപോലെ നീ എന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളും കല്പനകളും പ്രമാണിച്ചു എന്റെ വഴികളിൽ നടന്നാൽ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു ദീർഘായുസ്സും തരും.

And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.ശലോമോൻ ഉറക്കം ഉണർന്നപ്പോൾ അതു സ്വപനം എന്നു കണ്ടു. പിന്നെ അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെനിന്നു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങൾ കഴിച്ചു സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും അർപ്പിച്ചു തന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാർക്കും വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.അനന്തരം വേശ്യമാരായ രണ്ടു സ്ത്രീകൾ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നു.

And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തി പറഞ്ഞതു: തമ്പുരാനെ, അടിയനും, ഇവളും ഒരു വീട്ടിൽ പാർക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങൾ പാർക്കുന്ന വീട്ടിൽവെച്ചു ഞാൻ ഒരു കുഞ്ഞിനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.ഞാൻ പ്രസവിച്ചതിന്റെ മൂന്നാം ദിവസം ഇവളും പ്രസവിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങൾ ഒന്നിച്ചായിരുന്നു; ഞങ്ങൾ രണ്ടുപോരും ഒഴികെ ആ വീട്ടിൽ മറ്റാരും ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it.എന്നാൽ രാത്രി ഇവൾ തന്റെ മകന്റെ മേൽ കിടന്നുപോയതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ മരിച്ചു പോയി.

And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while yours handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.അവൾ അർദ്ധരാത്രി എഴുന്നേറ്റു, അടിയൻ ഉറങ്ങുന്ന സമയം, അടിയന്റെ അരികെനിന്നു അടിയന്റെ മകനെ എടുത്തു അവളുടെ പള്ളെക്കലും അവളുടെ മരിച്ച മകനെ അടിയന്റെ പള്ളെക്കലും കിടത്തി.

And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.രാവിലെ കുഞ്ഞിന്നു മുലകൊടുപ്പാൻ അടിയൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോൾ അതു മരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; വെളിച്ചമായശേഷം അടിയൻ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുനോക്കിയാറെ അതു അടിയൻ പ്രസവിച്ച കുഞ്ഞല്ല.

And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is your son. And this said, No; but the dead is your son, and the living is my son. Thus they spoke before the king.അതിന്നു മറ്റെ സ്ത്രീ: അങ്ങനെയല്ല; ജീവനുള്ളതു എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞു; മരിച്ചതു നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഇവളോ: മരിച്ചതു നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞു; ജീവനുള്ളതു എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഇങ്ങനെ അവർ രാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ തമ്മിൽ വാദിച്ചു.

Then said the king, The one says, This is my son that lives, and your son is the dead: and the other says, Nay; but your son is the dead, and my son is the living.അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചതു: ജീവനുള്ളതു എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞു, മരിച്ചതു നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞു എന്നു ഇവൾ പറയുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയല്ല, മരിച്ചതു നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞു, ജീവനുള്ളതു എന്റെ കുഞ്ഞു എന്നു മറ്റേവൾ പറയുന്നു.

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.ഒരു വാൾ കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ എന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചു. അവർ ഒരു വാൾ രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു: ജീവനുള്ള കുഞ്ഞിനെ രണ്ടായി പിളർന്നു പാതി ഒരുത്തിക്കും പാതി മറ്റേവൾക്കും കൊടുപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

Then spoke the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor yours, but divide it.ഉടനെ ജീവനുള്ള കുഞ്ഞിന്റെ അമ്മ തന്റെ കുഞ്ഞിനെക്കുറിച്ചു ഉള്ളു കത്തുകകൊണ്ടു രാജാവിനോടു: അയ്യോ! എന്റെ തമ്പുരാനേ ജീവനുള്ള കുഞ്ഞിനെ കൊല്ലരുതേ; അതിനെ അവൾക്കു കൊടുത്തുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. മറ്റേവളോ: എനിക്കും വേണ്ടാ, നിനക്കും വേണ്ടാ; അതിനെ പിളർക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു: ജീവനുള്ള കുഞ്ഞിനെ കൊല്ലരുതു; അവൾക്കു കൊടുപ്പിൻ; അവൾ തന്നേ അതിന്റെ തള്ള എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.രാജാവു കല്പിച്ച വിധി യിസ്രായേൽ ഒക്കെയും കേട്ടു. ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്‍വാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ജ്ഞാനം രാജാവിന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു കണ്ടു അവനെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

So king Solomon was king over all Israel.അങ്ങനെ ശലോമോൻ രാജാവു എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലിന്നും രാജാവായി.

And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,അവന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ ആരെന്നാൽ: സാദോക്കിന്റെ മകൻ അസര്യാവു പുരോഹിതൻ.

Elihoreph and Ahiah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder.ശീശയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരായ എലീഹോരെഫും അഹീയാവും രായസക്കാർ; അഹീലൂദിന്റെ മകൻ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് മന്ത്രി;

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:യെഹോയാദയുടെ മകൻ ബെനായാവു സേനാധിപതി, സാദോക്കും അബ്യാഥാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാർ;

And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king's friend:നാഥാന്റെ മകനായ അസര്യാവു കാര്യക്കാരന്മാരുടെ മേധാവി; നാഥാന്റെ മകനായ സാബൂദ് പുരോഹിതനും രാജാവിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനുമായിരുന്നു;

And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.അഹീശാർ രാജഗൃഹവിചാരകൻ; അബ്ദയുടെ കെൻ അദോനീരാം ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരുടെ മേധാവി.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.രാജാവിന്നും രാജഗൃഹത്തിന്നും ഭോജന പദാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ എത്തിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പാൻ ശലോമോന്നു യിസ്രായേലിലൊക്കെയും പന്ത്രണ്ടു കാര്യക്കാരന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവരിൽ ഓരോരുത്തൻ ആണ്ടിൽ ഓരോമാസത്തേക്കു ഭോജനപദാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ എത്തിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും.

And these are their names: The son of Hur, in mount Ephraim:അവരുടെ പേരാവിതു: എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടിൽ ബെൻ-ഹൂർ;

The son of Dekar, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Bethshemesh, and Elonbethhanan:മാക്കസ്, ശാൽബീം, ബേത്ത്-ശേമെശ്, ഏലോൻ-ബേത്ത്-ഹാനാൻ എന്നീ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ ബെൻ-ദേക്കെർ;

The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:അരുബ്ബോത്തിൽ ബെൻ-ഹേസെർ; സോഖോവും ഹേഫെർദേശം മുഴുവനും അവന്റെ ഇടവക ആയിരുന്നു;

The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:നാഫത്ത്-ദോറിൽ ബെൻ-അബീനാദാബ്; അവന്നു ശലോമോന്റെ മകളായ താഫത്ത് ഭാര്യയായിരുന്നു;

Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Bethshean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Bethshean to Abelmeholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:അഹീലൂദിന്റെ മകനായ ബാനയുടെ ഇടവക താനാക്കും മെഗിദ്ദോവും സാരെഥാന്നരികെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു താഴെ ബേത്ത്-ശെയാൻ മുതൽ ആബേൽ-മെഹോലാവരെയും യൊക്ക് മെയാമിന്റെ അപ്പുറംവരെയുമുള്ള ബേത്ത്-ശെയാൻ മുഴുവനും ആയിരുന്നു;

The son of Geber, in Ramothgilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brazen bars:ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിൽ ബെൻ-ഗേബെർ; അവന്റെ ഇടവക മനശ്ശെയുടെ മകനായ യായീരിന്നു ഗിലെയാദിലുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളും മതിലുകളും ചെമ്പോടാമ്പലുകളും ഉള്ള അറുപതു വലിയ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ ഉൾപ്പെട്ട ബാശാനിലെ അര്ഗ്ഗോബ് ദേശവും ആയിരുന്നു,

Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:നഫ്താലിയിൽ അഹീമാസ്; അവൻ ശലോമോന്റെ മകളായ ബാശെമത്തിനെ ഭാര്യയായി പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു;

Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:ആശേരിലും ബെയാലോത്തിലും ഹൂശയിയുടെ മകൻ ബാനാ;

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:യിസ്സാഖാരിൽ പാരൂഹിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത്;

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:ബെന്യാമീനിൽ ഏലയുടെ മകനായ ശിമെയി; അമോര്യ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെയും

Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.ബാശാൻ രാജാവായ ഓഗിന്റെയും രാജ്യമായിരുന്ന ഗിലെയദ് ദേശത്തു ഹൂരിന്റെ മകൻ ഗേബെർ; ആ ദേശത്തു ഒരു കാര്യക്കാരൻ മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളു.

Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.യെഹൂദയും യിസ്രായേലും കടൽക്കരയിലെ മണൽപോലെ അസംഖ്യമായിരുന്നു; അവർ തിന്നുകയും കുടിക്കയും സന്തോഷിക്കയും ചെയ്തു പോന്നു.

And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.നദിമുതൽ ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശംവരെയും മിസ്രയീമിന്റെ അതിർവരെയും ഉള്ള സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളെയും ശലോമോൻ വാണു; അവർ കപ്പം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ശലോമോനെ അവന്റെ ജീവപര്യന്തം സേവിച്ചു.

And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,ശലോമോന്റെ നിത്യച്ചെലവു ദിവസം ഒന്നിന്നു മുപ്പതു പറ നേരിയ മാവും അറുപതു പറ സാധാരണമാവും

Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallow-deer, and fatted fowl.മാൻ, ഇളമാൻ, മ്ളാവു, പുഷ്ടിവരുത്തിയ പക്ഷികൾ എന്നിവ കൂടാതെ തടിപ്പിച്ച പത്തു കാളയും മേച്ചൽപുറത്തെ ഇരുപതു കാളയും നൂറു ആടും ആയിരുന്നു.

For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ തിഫ്സഹ് മുതൽ ഗസ്സാവരെയുള്ള സകലദേശത്തെയും നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെയുള്ള സകലരാജാക്കന്മാരെയും അവൻ വാണു. ചുറ്റുമുള്ള ദിക്കിൽ ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു സമാധാനം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.ശലോമോന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദയും യിസ്രായേലും ദാൻമുതൽ ബേർ-ശേബവരെയും ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളിയുടെ കീഴിലും അത്തിവൃക്ഷത്തിൻ കീഴിലും നിർഭയം വസിച്ചു.

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.ശലോമോന്നു തന്റെ രഥങ്ങൾക്കു നാല്പതിനായിരം കുതിരലായവും പന്തീരായിരം കുതിരച്ചേവകരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.കാര്യക്കാരന്മാർ ഓരോരുത്തൻ ഓരോ മാസത്തേക്കു ശലോമോൻ രാജാവിന്റെ പന്തിഭോജനത്തിന്നു കൂടുന്ന എല്ലാവർക്കും വേണ്ടുന്ന ഭോജനപദാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ കുറവുകൂടാതെ എത്തിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും.

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.അവർ കുതിരകൾക്കും തുരഗങ്ങൾക്കും വേണ്ടുന്ന യവവും വയ്ക്കോലും താന്താന്റെ മുറപ്രകാരം അവൻ ഇരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ എത്തിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.ദൈവം ശലോമോന്നു ഏറ്റവും വളരെ ജ്ഞാനവും ബുദ്ധിയും കടൽക്കരയിലെ മണൽപോലെ ഹൃദയവിശാലതയും കൊടുത്തു.

And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.സകലപൂർവ്വ ദിഗ്വാസികളുടെയും ജ്ഞാനത്തെക്കാളും മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ സകലജ്ഞാനത്തെക്കാളും ശലോമോന്റെ ജ്ഞാനം ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായിരുന്നു.

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.സകലമനുഷ്യരെക്കാളും എസ്രാഹ്യനായ ഏഥാൻ, മാഹോലിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ ഹേമാൻ, കൽക്കോൽ, ദർദ്ദ എന്നിവരെക്കാളും അവൻ ജ്ഞാനിയായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ കീർത്തി ചുറ്റുമുള്ള സകലജാതികളിലും പരന്നു.

And he spoke three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.അവൻ മൂവായിരം സദൃശവാക്യം പറഞ്ഞു; അവന്റെ ഗീതങ്ങൾ ആയിരത്തഞ്ചു ആയിരുന്നു.

And he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springs out of the wall: he spoke also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.ലെബാനോനിലെ ദേവദാരുമുതൽ ചുവരിന്മേൽ മുളെക്കുന്ന ഈസോപ്പുവരെയുള്ള വൃക്ഷാദികളെക്കുറിച്ചും മൃഗം, പക്ഷി, ഇഴജാതി, മത്സ്യം എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ചും അവൻ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു.

And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.ശലോമോന്റെ ജ്ഞാനത്തെപ്പറ്റി കേട്ട സകലഭൂപാലകന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കൽ നിന്നു നാനാജാതിക്കാരായ പലരും അവന്റെ ജ്ഞാനം കേൾപ്പാൻ വന്നു.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.ശലോമോനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പന്നു പകരം രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു എന്നു സോർരാജാവായ ഹീരാം കേട്ടിട്ടു ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു. ഹീരാം എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദാവീദിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായിരുന്നു.

And Solomon sent to Hiram, saying,ശലോമോൻ ഹീരാമിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:

You know how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ യഹോവ അവന്റെ കാൽക്കീഴാക്കുംവരെ ചുറ്റുമുള്ള യുദ്ധം ഹേതുവായി തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാൻ അവന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrence.എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഒരു പ്രതിയോഗിയോ വിഘ്നമോ ഇല്ല; എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ചുറ്റും എനിക്കു സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

And, behold, I purpose to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God, as the LORD spoke unto David my father, saying, Your son, whom I will set upon your throne in your room, he shall build an house unto my name.ആകയാൽ ഇതാ, ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പകരം നിന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുത്തുന്ന നിന്റെ മകൻ എന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിയുമെന്നു യഹോവ എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ദാവീദിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആലയം പണിവാൻ ഞാൻ വിചാരിക്കുന്നു.

Now therefore command you that they hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; and my servants shall be with your servants: and unto you will I give hire for your servants according to all that you shall appoint: for you know that there is not among us any that can skill to hew timber like unto the Sidonians.ആകയാൽ ലെബാനോനിൽനിന്നു എനിക്കായി ദേവദാരുമരം മുറിപ്പാൻ കല്പന കൊടുക്കേണം; എന്റെ വേലക്കാർ നിന്റെ വേലക്കാരോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും; നിന്റെ വേലക്കാർക്കും നീ പറയുന്ന കൂലി ഞാൻ എത്തിച്ചു തരാം; സീദോന്യരെപ്പോലെ മരം മുറിപ്പാൻ പരിചയമുള്ളവർ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ആരും ഇല്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the LORD this day, which has given unto David a wise son over this great people.ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഏറ്റവും സന്തോഷിച്ചു: ഈ മഹാജനത്തെ വാഴുവാൻ ദാവീദിന്നു ജ്ഞാനമുള്ളോരു മകനെ കൊടുത്ത യഹോവ ഇന്നു വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which you sent to me for: and I will do all your desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു പറയിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ പറഞ്ഞയച്ച വസ്തുത ഞാൻ കേട്ടു; ദേവദാരുവിന്റെയും സരളമരത്തിന്റെയും കാര്യത്തിൽ നീ ഇച്ഛിച്ചതു ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ ചെയ്യാം.

My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in rafts unto the place that you shall appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and you shall receive them: and you shall accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.എന്റെ വേലക്കാർ ലെബാനോനിൽനിന്നു കടലിലേക്കു അവയെ ഇറക്കിയശേഷം ഞാൻ ചങ്ങാടം കെട്ടിച്ചു നീ പറയുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു കടൽ വഴിയായി എത്തിച്ചു കെട്ടഴിപ്പിച്ചുതരാം; നീ ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങേണം; എന്നാൽ എന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു ആഹാരം എത്തിച്ചുതരുന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ നീ എന്റെ ഇഷ്ടവും നിവർത്തിക്കേണം.

So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.അങ്ങനെ ഹീരാം ശലോമോന്നു ദേവദാരുവും സരളമരവും അവന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ഒക്കെയും കൊടുത്തു പോന്നു.

And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.ശലോമോൻ ഹീരാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിലേക്കു ആഹാരംവകെക്കു ഇരുപതിനായിരം പറ കോതമ്പും ഇരുപതു പറ ഇടിച്ചെടുത്ത എണ്ണയും കൊടുത്തു; ഇങ്ങനെ ശലോമോൻ ഹീരാമിന്നു ആണ്ടുതോറും കൊടുക്കും.

And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.യഹോവ ശലോമോനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവന്നു ജ്ഞാനം നൽകി; ഹീരാമും ശലോമോനും തമ്മിൽ സമാധാനമായിരുന്നു; അവർ ഇരുവരും തമ്മിൽ ഉടമ്പടിയും ചെയ്തു.

And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel; and the levy was thirty thousand men.ശലോമോൻ രാജാവു യിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നൊക്കെയും ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരെ വരിയിട്ടെടുത്തു; ഊഴിയ വേലക്കാർ മുപ്പതിനായിരംപേരായിരുന്നു.

And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month by courses: a month they were in Lebanon, and two months at home: and Adoniram was over the levy.അവൻ അവരെ മാസംതോറും പതിനായിരംപേർവീതം മാറി മാറി ലെബാനോനിലേക്കു അയച്ചു; അവർ ഒരു മാസം ലെബാനോനിലും രണ്ടുമാസം വീട്ടിലും ആയിരുന്നു; അദോനീരാം ഊഴിയവേലക്കാർക്കു മേധാവി ആയിരുന്നു.

And Solomon had threescore and ten thousand that bare burdens, and fourscore thousand hewers in the mountains;വേല ചെയ്യുന്ന ജനത്തെ ഭരിച്ചു വേല നടത്തുന്ന മൂവായിരത്തിമുന്നൂറു പ്രധാനകാര്യക്കാരന്മാരൊഴികെ

Beside the chief of Solomon's officers which were over the work, three thousand and three hundred, which ruled over the people that wrought in the work.ശലോമോന്നു എഴുപതിനായിരം ചുമട്ടുകാരും മലയിൽ എണ്പതിനായിരം കല്ലുവെട്ടുകാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And the king commanded, and they brought great stones, costly stones, and hewed stones, to lay the foundation of the house.ആലയത്തിന്നു ചെത്തിയ കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു അടിസ്ഥാനം ഇടുവാൻ അവർ രാജകല്പനപ്രകാരം വിശേഷപ്പെട്ട വലിയകല്ലു വെട്ടി.

And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the Gibalites also: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.ശലോമോന്റെ ശില്പികളും, ഹീരാമിന്റെ ശില്പികളും ഗെബാല്യരും ആലയപ്പണിക്കായി മരവും കല്ലും ചെത്തി ഒരുക്കി.
