2 Samuel 10

And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his position.അതിന്റെ ശേഷം അമ്മോന്യരുടെ രാജാവു മരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകനായ ഹാനൂൻ അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

Then said David, I will show kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ്: ഹാനൂന്റെ അപ്പനായ നാഹാശ് എനിക്കു ദയ ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവന്റെ മകന്നു ഞാനും ദയ ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ അപ്പനെക്കുറിച്ചു അവനോടു ആശ്വാസവാക്കു പറവാൻ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Think you that David does honour your father, that he has sent comforters unto you? has not David rather sent his servants unto you, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അമ്മോന്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ തങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനനായ ഹാനൂനോടു: ദാവീദ് നിന്റെ അപ്പനെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചിട്ടാകുന്നു ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കുന്നവരെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചതു എന്നു തോന്നുന്നുവോ? പട്ടണത്തെ ശോധനചെയ്തു ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാനും അതിനെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളവാനും അല്ലയോ ദാവീദ് ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Wherefore Hanun took David's servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.അപ്പോൾ ഹാനൂൻ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു അവരുടെ താടിയെ പാതി ചിരപ്പിച്ചു അവരുടെ അങ്കികളെ നടുവിൽ ആസനംവരെ മുറിപ്പിച്ചു അവരെ അയച്ചു.

When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly ashamed: and the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.ദാവീദ്‌രാജാവു ഇതു അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ആ പുരുഷന്മാർ ഏറ്റവും ലജ്ജിച്ചിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: നിങ്ങളുടെ താടി വളരുംവരെ യെരീഹോവിൽ താമസിപ്പിൻ; പിന്നെ മടങ്ങിവരാം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

And when the children of Ammon saw that they stank before David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Bethrehob and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand footmen, and of king Maacah a thousand men, and of Ishtob twelve thousand men.തങ്ങൾ ദാവീദിന്നു വെറുപ്പുള്ളവരായ്തീർന്നു എന്നു അമ്മോന്യർ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ ആളയച്ചു ബേത്ത്-രെഹോബിലെ അരാമ്യരിൽനിന്നും സോബയിലെ അരാമ്യരിൽനിന്നും ഇരുപതിനായിരം കാലാളുകളെയും ആയിരംപേരുമായി മാഖാരാജാവിനെയും തോബിൽനിന്നു പന്തീരായിരംപേരെയും കൂലിക്കു വരുത്തി.

And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.ദാവീദ് അതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ യോവാബിനെയും ശൂരന്മാരുടെ സകലസൈന്യത്തെയും അയച്ചു.

And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and Ishtob, and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.അമ്മോന്യരും പുറപ്പെട്ടു പട്ടണവാതിൽക്കൽ പടെക്കു അണിനിരന്നു; എന്നാൽ സോബയിലെയും രെഹോബിലെയും അരാമ്യരും തോബ്യരും മാഖ്യരും തനിച്ചു വെളിൻ പ്രദേശത്തായിരുന്നു.

When Joab saw that the front of the battle was against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:തന്റെ മുമ്പിലും പിമ്പിലും പടനിരന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ യോവാബ് യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലവീരന്മാരിൽനിന്നും ഒരു കൂട്ടത്തെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു അരാമ്യരുടെ നേരെ അണിനിരത്തി.

And the rest of the people he delivered into the hand of Abishai his brother, that he might put them in array against the children of Ammon.ശേഷം പടജ്ജനത്തെ അമ്മോന്യരുടെ നേരെ നിരത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായിയെ ഏല്പിച്ചു അവനോടു:

And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then you shall help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for you, then I will come and help you.അരാമ്യർ എന്റെ നേരെ പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിച്ചാൽ നീ എനിക്കു സഹായം ചെയ്യേണം; അമ്മോന്യർ നിന്റെ നേരെ പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിച്ചാൽ ഞാൻ വന്നു നിനക്കു സഹായം ചെയ്യും.

Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the LORD do that which seems him good.ധൈര്യമായിരിക്ക; നാം നമ്മുടെ ജനത്തിന്നും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾക്കും വേണ്ടി പുരുഷത്വം കാണിക്കുക; യഹോവയോ തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമായതു ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Joab drew nigh, and the people that were with him, unto the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him.പിന്നെ യോവാബും കൂടെയുള്ള ജനവും അരാമ്യരോടു പടെക്കു അടുത്തു; അവർ അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോയി.

And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, then fled they also before Abishai, and entered into the city. So Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.അരാമ്യർ ഓടിപ്പോയി എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അമ്മോന്യരും അബീശായിയുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടി പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടന്നു. യോവാബ് അമ്മോന്യരെ വിട്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.

And when the Syrians saw that they were smitten before Israel, they gathered themselves together.തങ്ങൾ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു തോറ്റുപോയി എന്നു അരാമ്യർ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവർ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി.

And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river: and they came to Helam; and Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.ഹദദേസെർ ആളയച്ചു നദിക്കു അക്കരെയുള്ള അരാമ്യരെ വരുത്തി; അവർ ഹേലാമിലേക്കു വന്നു; ഹദദേസെരിന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ ശോബക്ക് അവരുടെ നായകനായിരുന്നു.

And when it was told David, he gathered all Israel together, and passed over Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.അതു ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ എല്ലായിസ്രായേല്യരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നു ഹേലാമിൽചെന്നു. എന്നാറെ അരാമ്യർ ദാവീദിന്റെ നേരെ അണിനിരന്നു പടയേറ്റു.

And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and stroke Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.അരാമ്യർ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോയി; ദാവീദ് അരാമ്യരിൽ എഴുനൂറു തേരാളികളെയും നാല്പതിനായിരം കുതിരപ്പടയാളികളെയും കൊന്നു, അവരുടെ സേനാപതിയായ ശോബക്കിനെയും വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നു.

And when all the kings that were servants to Hadarezer saw that they were smitten before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.എന്നാൽ ഹദദേസെരിന്റെ ആശ്രിതന്മാരായ സകലരാജാക്കന്മാരും തങ്ങൾ യിസ്രായേലിനോടു തോറ്റു എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു യിസ്രായേല്യരുമായി സന്ധിചെയ്തു അവരെ സേവിച്ചു. അതിൽപിന്നെ അമ്മോന്യർക്കു സഹായം ചെയ്‍വാൻ അരാമ്യർ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

2 Samuel 11

And it came to pass, after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.പിറ്റെ ആണ്ടിൽ രാജാക്കന്മാർ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുംകാലം ദാവീദ് യോവാബിനെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ തന്റെ ചേവകരെയും എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനെയും അയച്ചു; അവർ അമ്മോന്യദേശം ശൂന്യമാക്കി രബ്ബാപട്ടണം നിരോധിച്ചു. ദാവീദോ യെരൂശലേമിൽ തന്നെ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു.

And it came to pass in an evening-time, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.ഒരുനാൾ സന്ധ്യയാകാറായ സമയത്തു ദാവീദ് മെത്തയിൽ നിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു രാജധാനിയുടെ മാളികമേൽ ഉലാവിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഒരു സ്ത്രീ കുളിക്കുന്നതു മാളികയിൽ നിന്നു കണ്ടു; ആ സ്ത്രീ അതിസുന്ദരി ആയിരുന്നു.

And David sent and enquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?ദാവീദ് ആളയച്ചു ആ സ്ത്രീയെപ്പറ്റി അന്വേഷിപ്പിച്ചു. അവൾ എലീയാമിന്റെ മകളും ഹിത്യനായ ഊരിയാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായ ബത്ത്-ശേബ എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു.

And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.ദാവീദ് ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു അവളെ വരുത്തി; അവൾ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു; അവൾക്കു ഋതുശുദ്ധി വന്നിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; അവൾ തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.ആ സ്ത്രീ ഗർഭം ധരിച്ചു, താൻ ഗർഭിണി ആയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ദാവീദിന്നു വർത്തമാനം അയച്ചു.

And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് ഹിത്യനായ ഊരീയാവെ തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയപ്പാൻ യോവാബിന്നു കല്പന അയച്ചു.

And when Uriah was come unto him, David demanded of him how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.ഊരീയാവു തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് അവനോടു യോവാബിന്റെയും പടജ്ജനത്തിന്റെയും സുഖവർത്തമാനവും യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ വസ്തുതയും ചോദിച്ചു.

And David said to Uriah, Go down to your house, and wash your feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a portion of food from the king.പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് ഊരിയാവോടു: നീ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നു കാലുകളെ കഴുകുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഊരീയാവു രാജധാനിയിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ രാജാവിന്റെ സമ്മാനം അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.

But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.ഊരീയാവോ തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പോകാതെ യജമാനന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുംകൂടെ രാജധാനിയുടെ വാതിൽക്കൽ കിടന്നുറിങ്ങി.

And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Came you not from your journey? why then did you not go down unto yours house?ഊരീയാവു വീട്ടിൽ പോയില്ല എന്നറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് ഊരീയാവിനോടു: നീ യാത്രയിൽനിന്നു വന്നവനല്ലയോ? നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ പോകാതെ ഇരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And Uriah said unto David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.ഊരീയാവു ദാവീദിനോടു: പെട്ടകവും യിസ്രായേലും യെഹൂദയും കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ യജമാനനായ യോവാബും യജമാനന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും വെളിൻ പ്രദേശത്തു പാളയമിറങ്ങിക്കിടക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ ഞാൻ ഭക്ഷിപ്പാനും കുടിപ്പാനും എന്റെ ഭാര്യയോടുകൂടെ ശയിപ്പാനും എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കടക്കുമോ? നിന്നാണ, നിന്റെ ജിവനാണ, അതു ഞാൻ ചെയ്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to day also, and tomorrow I will let you depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the next day.അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് ഊരീയാവിനോടു: നീ ഇന്നും ഇവിടെ താമസിക്ക; നാളെ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ പറഞ്ഞയക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ഊരിയാവു അന്നും യെരൂശലേമിൽ താമസിച്ചു.

And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk: and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.പിറ്റെന്നാൾ ദാവീദ് അവനെ വിളിച്ചു; അവൻ അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനം ചെയ്തു; അവൻ അവനെ ലഹരിപിടിപ്പിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും അവൻ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോകാതെ സന്ധ്യെക്കു ചെന്നു യജമാനന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടുകൂടെ തന്റെ വിരിപ്പിൽ കിടന്നു.

And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.രാവിലെ ദാവീദ് യോവാബിന്നു ഒരു എഴുത്തു എഴുതി ഊരീയാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.

And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set all of you Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire all of you from him, that he may be smitten, and die.എഴുത്തിൽ: പട കഠിനമായിരിക്കുന്നേടത്തു ഊരീയാവെ മുന്നണിയിൽ നിർത്തി അവൻ വെട്ടുകൊണ്ടു മരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ വിട്ടു പിൻമാറുവിൻ എന്നു എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.

And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah unto a place where he knew that valiant men were.അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ യോവാബ് ആ പട്ടണത്തെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുനോക്കീട്ടു ശൂരന്മാർ നില്ക്കുന്നതായി കണ്ട സ്ഥലത്തു ഊരീയാവെ നിർത്തി.

And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell some of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.പട്ടണക്കാർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു യോവാബിനോടു പട വെട്ടിയപ്പോൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ ചേവകരായ പടജ്ജനത്തിൽ ചിലർ പട്ടുപോയി; ഹിത്യനായ ഊരിയാവും മരിച്ചു.

Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;പിന്നെ യോവാബ് ആ യുദ്ധവർത്തമാനം ഒക്കെയും ദാവീദിനോടു അറിയിപ്പാൻ ആളയച്ചു.

And charged the messenger, saying, When you have made an end of telling the matters of the war unto the king,അവൻ ദൂതനോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ യുദ്ധവർത്തമാനം ഒക്കെയും രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു തീരുമ്പോൾ രാജാവിന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു:

And if so be that the king's wrath arise, and he say unto you, Wherefore approached all of you so nigh unto the city when all of you did fight? knew all of you not that they would shoot from the wall?നിങ്ങൾ പട്ടണത്തോടു ഇത്ര അടുത്തുചെന്നു പടവെട്ടിയതു എന്തു? മതിലിന്മേൽ നിന്നു അവർ എയ്യുമെന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കു അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടയോ?

Who stroke Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went all of you nigh the wall? then say you, Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.യെരൂബ്ബേശെത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അബീമേലെക്കിനെ കൊന്നതു ആർ? ഒരു സ്ത്രീ മതിലിന്മേൽനിന്നു തിരിക്കല്ലിൽപിള്ള അവന്റെ മേൽ ഇട്ടതുകൊണ്ടല്ലേയോ അവൻ തേബെസിൽവെച്ചു മരിച്ചതു? നിങ്ങൾ മതിലിനോടു ഇത്ര അടുത്തുചെന്നതു എന്തു എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞാൽ: നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യൻ ഹിത്യനായ ഊരീയാവും മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു പറക.

So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for.ദൂതൻ ചെന്നു യോവാബ് പറഞ്ഞയച്ച വർത്തമാനമൊക്കെയും ദാവീദിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

And the messenger said unto David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entering of the gate.ദൂതൻ ദാവീദിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: ആ കൂട്ടർ പ്രാബല്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു വെളിൻ പ്രദേശത്തേക്കു ഞങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നതിനാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ പട്ടണവാതിൽക്കലോളം അവരെ പിന്തുടർന്നടുത്തുപോയി.

And the shooters shot from off the wall upon your servants; and some of the king's servants be dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.അപ്പോൾ വില്ലാളികൾ മതിലിന്മേൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ ചേവകരെ എയ്തു, രാജാവിന്റെ ചേവകരിൽ ചിലർ പട്ടുപോയി, നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യൻ ഹിത്യനായ ഊരീയാവും മരിച്ചു.

Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shall you say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another: make your battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage you him.അതിന്നു ദാവീദ് ദൂതനോടു: ഈ കാര്യത്തിൽ വ്യസനം തോന്നരുതു; വാൾ അങ്ങും ഇങ്ങും നാശം ചെയ്യും; പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ശക്തിയോടെ പൊരുതു അതിനെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു കളക എന്നു നീ യോവാബിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.ഊരീയാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യ തന്റെ ഭർത്താവായ ഊരീയാവു മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഭർത്താവിനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിലപിച്ചു.

And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.വിലാപകാലം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ദാവീദ് ആളയച്ചു അവളെ അരമനയിൽ വരുത്തി; അവൾ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയായി, അവന്നു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ് ചെയ്തതു യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായിരുന്നു.

And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.അനന്തരം യഹോവ നാഥാനെ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു. അവൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഒരു പട്ടണത്തിൽ രണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഒരുത്തൻ ധനവാൻ, മറ്റവൻ ദരിദ്രൻ.

The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:ധനവാന്നു ആടുമാടുകൾ അനവധി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own food, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.ദരിദ്രന്നോ താൻ വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി വളർത്തിയ ഒരു പെൺകുഞ്ഞാടല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കലും അവന്റെ മക്കളുടെ അടുക്കലും വളർന്നുവന്നു; അതു അവൻ തിന്നുന്നതിൽ ഓഹരി തിന്നുകയും അവൻ കുടിക്കുന്നതിൽ ഓഹരി കുടിക്കയും അവന്റെ മടിയിൽ കിടക്കയും ചെയ്തു; അവന്നു ഒരു മകളെപ്പോലെയും ആയിരുന്നു.

And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the travelling man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.ധനവാന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരു വഴിയാത്രക്കാരൻ വന്നു; തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്ന വഴിപോക്കന്നുവേണ്ടി പാകംചെയ്‍വാൻ സ്വന്ത ആടുമാടുകളിൽ ഒന്നിനെ എടുപ്പാൻ മനസ്സാകാതെ, അവൻ ആ ദരിദ്രന്റെ കുഞ്ഞാടിനെ പിടിച്ചു തന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്ന ആൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പാകം ചെയ്തു.

And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD lives, the man that has done this thing shall surely die:അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ കോപം ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ ഏറ്റവും ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവൻ നാഥാനോടു: യഹോവയാണ, ഇതു ചെയ്തവൻ മരണയോഗ്യൻ.

And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.അവൻ കനിവില്ലാതെ ഈ കാര്യം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ആ ആടിന്നുവേണ്ടി നാലിരട്ടി പകരം കൊടുക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Nathan said to David, You are the man. Thus says the LORD God of Israel, I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul;നാഥാൻ ദാവീദിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ആ മനുഷ്യൻ നീ തന്നേ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു, നിന്നെ ശൌലിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചു.

And I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto you such and such things.ഞാൻ നിനക്കു നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെയും നിന്റെ മാർവ്വിടത്തിലേക്കു നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും തന്നു; യിസ്രായേൽ ഗൃഹത്തെയും യെഹൂദാഗൃഹത്തെയും നിനക്കു തന്നു; പോരായെങ്കിൽ ഇന്നിന്നതും കൂടെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു തരുമായിരുന്നു.

Wherefore have you despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? you have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.നീ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന നിരസിച്ചു അവന്നു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തതു എന്തിന്നു? ഹിത്യനായ ഊരീയാവെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു വെട്ടി അവന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ നിനക്കു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു എടുത്തു. അവനെ അമ്മോന്യരുടെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊല്ലിച്ചു.

Now therefore the sword shall never depart from yours house; because you have despised me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.നീ എന്നെ നിരസിച്ചു ഹിത്യനായ ഊരീയാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ നിനക്കു ഭാര്യയായിട്ടു എടുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു വാൾ നിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെ ഒരിക്കലും വിട്ടുമാറുകയില്ല.

Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of yours own house, and I will take your wives before yours eyes, and give them unto your neighbour, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നിന്റെ സ്വന്തഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്നു ഞാൻ നിനക്കു അനർത്ഥം വരുത്തും; നീ കാൺകെ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെ എടുത്തു നിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു കൊടുക്കും; അവൻ ഈ സൂര്യന്റെ വെട്ടത്തു തന്നേ നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്കും.

For you did it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.നീ അതു രഹസ്യത്തിൽ ചെയ്തു; ഞാനോ ഈ കാര്യം യിസ്രായേലൊക്കെയും കാൺകെ സൂര്യന്റെ വെട്ടത്തു തന്നേ നടത്തും.

And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die.ദാവീദ് നാഥാനോടു: ഞാൻ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു നാഥാൻ ദാവീദിനോടു: യഹോവ നിന്റെ പാപം മോചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ മരിക്കയില്ല.

Nevertheless, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto you shall surely die.എങ്കിലും നീ ഈ പ്രവൃത്തിയിൽ യഹോവയുടെ ശത്രുക്കൾ ദൂഷണം പറവാൻ ഹേതു ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതു കൊണ്ടു നിനക്കു ജനിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള കുഞ്ഞു മരിച്ചു പോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നാഥാൻ തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോയി.

And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.ഊരീയാവിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ദാവീദിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ച കുഞ്ഞിനെ യഹോവ ബാധിച്ചു, അതിന്നു കഠിനരോഗം പിടിച്ചു.

David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.ദാവീദ് കുഞ്ഞിന്നുവേണ്ടി ദൈവത്തോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; ദാവീദ് ഉപവസിക്കയും അകത്തു കടന്നു രാത്രി മുഴുവനും നിലത്തു കിടക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

And the elders of his house arose, and went to him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.അവന്റെ ഗൃഹപ്രമാണികൾ അവനെ നിലത്തുനിന്നു എഴുന്നേല്പിപ്പാൻ ഉത്സാഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു അരികെ നിന്നു; എന്നാൽ അവന്നു മനസ്സായില്ല. അവരോടു കൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചതുമില്ല.

And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?എന്നാൽ ഏഴാം ദിവസം കുഞ്ഞു മരിച്ചുപോയി. കുഞ്ഞു മരിച്ചു എന്നു ദാവീദിനെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു. കുഞ്ഞു ജീവനോടിരുന്ന സമയം നാം സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടു അവൻ നമ്മുടെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കാതിരിക്കെ കുഞ്ഞു മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു നാം അവനോടു എങ്ങനെ പറയും? അവൻ തനിക്കുതന്നേ വല്ല കേടും വരുത്തും എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.ഭൃത്യന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ മന്ത്രിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ കുഞ്ഞുമരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു ദാവീദ് ഗ്രഹിച്ചു, തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: കുഞ്ഞു മരിച്ചുപോയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.ഉടനെ ദാവീദ് നിലത്തുനിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു കുളിച്ചു തൈലം പൂശി വസ്ത്രം മാറി യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ ചെന്നു നമസ്കരിച്ചു; അരമനയിൽ വന്നു; അവന്റെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം അവർ ഭക്ഷണം അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽവെച്ചു അവൻ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു.

Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that you have done? you did fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, you did rise and eat bread.അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: നീ ഈ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു? കുഞ്ഞു ജീവനോടിരുന്ന സമയം നീ അവന്നു വേണ്ടി ഉപവസിച്ചു കരഞ്ഞു; കുഞ്ഞു മരിച്ചശേഷം നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചുവല്ലോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?അതിന്നു അവൻ: കുഞ്ഞു ജീവനോടിരുന്ന സമയം ഞാൻ ഉപവസിച്ചു കരഞ്ഞു; കുഞ്ഞു ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദൈവം എന്നോടു ദയ ചെയ്യുമോ ഇല്ലയോ? ആർക്കു അറിയാം എന്നു ഞാൻ വിചാരിച്ചു.

But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.ഇപ്പോഴോ അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി; ഇനി ഞാൻ ഉപവസിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? അവനെ മടക്കി വരുത്തുവാൻ എനിക്കു കഴിയുമോ? ഞാൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു പോകയല്ലാതെ അവൻ എന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവരികയില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ ബത്ത്-ശേബയെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിച്ചു അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; അവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവൻ അവന്നു ശലോമോൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. യഹോവ അവനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു.

And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.അവൻ നാഥാൻ പ്രവാചകനെ നിയോഗിച്ചു; അവൻ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രീതിനിമിത്തം അവന്നു യെദീദ്യാവു എന്നു പേർ വിളിച്ചു.

And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.എന്നാൽ യോവാബ് അമ്മോന്യരുടെ രബ്ബയോടു പൊരുതു രാജനഗരം പിടിച്ചു.

And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.യോവാബ് ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു: ഞാൻ രബ്ബയോടു പൊരുതു ജലനഗരം പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and camp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ നഗരം പിടിച്ചിട്ടു കീർത്തി എനിക്കാകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ശേഷം ജനത്തെ ഒരുമിച്ചു കൂട്ടി നഗരത്തിന്നു നേരെ പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി അതിനെ പിടിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് ജനത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി രബ്ബയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു പടവെട്ടി അതിനെ പിടിച്ചു.

And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight whereof was a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.അവിടത്തെ ജനത്തെയും അവൻ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവരെ ഈർച്ചവാളിന്നും മെതിവണ്ടിക്കും കോടാലിക്കും ആക്കി; അവരെക്കൊണ്ടു ഇഷ്ടികച്ചൂളയിലും വേല ചെയ്യിച്ചു; അമ്മോന്യരുടെ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളോടും അവൻ അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു. പിന്നെ ദാവീദും സകല ജനവും യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.

2 Samuel 13

And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സംഭവിച്ചതു: ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്നു സൌന്ദര്യമുള്ള ഒരു സഹോദരി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൾക്കു താമാർ എന്നു പേർ; ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ അമ്നോന്നു അവളിൽ പ്രേമം ജനിച്ചു.

And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her.തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ താമാർ നിമിത്തം മാൽ മുഴുത്തിട്ടു അമ്നോൻ രോഗിയായ്തീർന്നു. അവൾ കന്യകയാകയാൽ അവളോടു വല്ലതും ചെയ്‍വാൻ അമ്നോന്നു പ്രയാസം തോന്നി.

But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtle man.എന്നാൽ അമ്നോന്നു ദാവീദിന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠനായ ശിമെയയുടെ മകനായി യോനാദാബ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു സ്നേഹിതൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; യോനാദാബ് വലിയ ഉപായി ആയിരുന്നു.

And he said unto him, Why are you, being the king's son, lean from day to day? will you not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.അവൻ അവനോടു: നീ നാൾക്കുനാൾ ഇങ്ങനെ ക്ഷീണിച്ചുവരുന്നതു എന്തു, രാജകുമാരാ? എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞുകൂടയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അമ്നോൻ അവനോടു എന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ പെങ്ങൾ താമാരിൽ എനിക്കു പ്രേമം ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jonadab said unto him, Lay you down on your bed, and make yourself sick: and when your father comes to see you, say unto him, I pray you, let my sister Tamar come, and give me food, and dress the food in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.യോനാദാബ് അവനോടു: നീ രോഗം നടിച്ചു കിടക്കയിൽ കിടന്നുകൊൾക; നിന്നെ കാണ്മാൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പൻ വരുമ്പോൾ നീ അവനോടു: എന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ താമാർ വന്നു എന്നെ ഒന്നു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പിക്കേണം; അവളുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു വാങ്ങി ഭക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ കാൺകെ അവൾ എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽവെച്ചു തന്നേ ഭക്ഷണം ഒരുക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray you, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.അങ്ങനെ അമ്നോൻ രോഗം നടിച്ചു കിടന്നു; രാജാവു അവനെ കാണ്മാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ അമ്നോൻ രാജാവിനോടു: എന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ താമാർ വന്നു ഞാൻ അവളുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു എടുത്തു ഭക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽവെച്ചുതന്നെ ഒന്നു രണ്ടു വടകളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to your brother Amnon's house, and dress him food.ഉടനെ ദാവീദ് അരമനയിൽ താമാരിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അമ്നോന്റെ വീട്ടിൽചെന്നു അവന്നു ഭക്ഷണം ഉണ്ടാക്കിക്കൊടുക്ക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the food into the chamber, that I may eat of yours hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.അപ്പോൾ അമ്നോൻ താമാരിനോടു: ഞാൻ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വാങ്ങി ഭക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഭക്ഷണം ഉൾമുറിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. താമാർ താൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ വടളെ എടുത്തു ഉൾമുറിയിൽ സഹോദരനായ അമ്നോന്റെ അടുക്കൽകൊണ്ടുചെന്നു.

And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.അവൻ ഭക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൾ അവയെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നപ്പോൾ അവൻ അവളെ പിടിച്ചു അവളോടു: സഹോദരീ, വന്നു എന്നോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And I, where shall I cause my shame to go? and as for you, you shall be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray you, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from you.എന്റെ അവമാനം ഞാൻ എവിടെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി വെക്കും? നീയും യിസ്രായേലിൽ വഷളന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ആയിപ്പോകുമല്ലോ. നീ രാജാവിനോടു പറക അവൻ എന്നെ നിനക്കു തരാതിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Nevertheless he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.എന്നാൽ അവൻ, അവളുടെ വാക്കു കേൾപ്പാൻ മനസ്സില്ലാതെ, അവളെക്കാൾ ബലമുള്ളവനാകകൊണ്ടു ബലാൽക്കാരം ചെയ്തു അവളോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു.

Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.പിന്നെ അമ്നോൻ അവളെ അത്യന്തം വെറുത്തു; അവൻ അവളെ സ്നേഹിച്ച സ്നേഹത്തെക്കാൾ അവളെ വെറുത്ത വെറുപ്പു വലുതായിരുന്നു. എഴുന്നേറ്റു പോക എന്നു അമ്നോൻ അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു;

And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that you did unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.അവൾ അവനോടു: അങ്ങനെയരുതു; നീ എന്നോടു ചെയ്ത മറ്റെ ദോഷത്തെക്കാൾ എന്നെ പുറത്താക്കിക്കളയുന്ന ഈ ദോഷം ഏറ്റവും വലുതായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ അവന്നു അവളുടെ വാക്കു കേൾപ്പാൻ മനസ്സായില്ല.

Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.അവൻ തനിക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്യുന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരനെ വിളിച്ചു അവനോടു: ഇവളെ ഇവിടെനിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി വാതിൽ അടെച്ചുകളക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And she had a garment of divers colours upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.അവൾ നിലയങ്കിധരിച്ചിരിന്നു; രാജകുമാരികളായ കന്യകമാർ ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു. ബാല്യക്കാരൻ അവളെ പുറത്തിറക്കി വാതിൽ അടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying.അപ്പോൾ താമാർ തലയിൽ വെണ്ണീർ വാരിയിട്ടു താൻ ധരിച്ചിരുന്ന നിലയങ്കി കീറി, തലയിൽ കയ്യുംവെച്ചു നിലവിളിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു നടന്നു.

And Absalom her brother said unto her, Has Amnon your brother been with you? but hold now your peace, my sister: he is your brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.അവളുടെ സഹോദരനായ അബ്ശാലോം അവളോടു: നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അമ്നോൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആയിരുന്നുവോ? ആകട്ടെ സഹോദരീ, മിണ്ടാതിരിക്ക; അവൻ നിന്റെ സഹോദരനല്ലോ; ഈ കാര്യം മനസ്സിൽ വെക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ താമാർ തന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ഏകാകിയായി പാർത്തു.

But when king David heard of all these things, he was very angry.ദാവീദ്‌രാജാവു ഈ കാര്യം ഒക്കെയും കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ കോപം ഏറ്റവും ജ്വലിച്ചു.

And Absalom spoke unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോം അമ്നോനോടു ഗുണമോ ദോഷമോ ഒന്നും സംസാരിച്ചില്ല; തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ താമാരിനെ അമ്നോൻ അവമാനിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അബ്ശാലോം അവനെ ദ്വേഷിച്ചു.

And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which is beside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the king's sons.രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അബ്ശാലോമിന്നു എഫ്രയീമിന്നു സമിപത്തുള്ള ബാൽഹാസോരിൽ ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന അടിയന്തരം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അബ്ശാലോം രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും ക്ഷണിച്ചു.

And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, your servant has sheepshearers; let the king, I plead to you, and his servants go with your servant.അബ്ശാലോം രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു: അടിയന്നു ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന അടിയന്തരം ഉണ്ടു; രാജാവും ഭൃത്യന്മാരും അടിയനോടുകൂടെ വരേണമേ എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto you. And he pressed him: nevertheless he would not go, but blessed him.രാജാവു അബ്ശാലോമിനോടു: വേണ്ടാ മകനേ, ഞങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും വന്നാൽ നിനക്കു ഭാരമാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ അവനെ നിർബ്ബന്ധിച്ചിട്ടും പോകുവാൻ മനസ്സാകാതെ അവൻ അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

Then said Absalom, If not, I pray you, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with you?അപ്പോൾ അബ്ശാലോം: അങ്ങനെയെങ്കിൽ എന്റെ സഹോദരൻ അമ്നോൻ ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പോരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. രാജാവു അവനോടു: അവൻ പോരുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark all of you now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Strike Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോം തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരോടു: നോക്കിക്കൊൾവിൻ; അമ്നോൻ വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു ആനന്ദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നേരം ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു: അമ്നോനെ അടിച്ചുകൊല്ലുവിൻ എന്നു പറയുമ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ കൊല്ലുവിൻ; ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; ഞാനല്ലയോ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചതു? നിങ്ങൾ ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു ശൂരന്മാരായിരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got him up upon his mule, and fled.അബ്ശാലോം കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാർ അമ്നോനോടു ചെയ്തു. അപ്പോൾ രാജകുമാരന്മാരൊക്കെയും എഴുന്നേറ്റു താന്താന്റെ കോവർകഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി ഓടിപ്പോയി.

And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom has slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.അവർ വഴിയിൽ ആയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ: അബ്ശാലോം രാജകുമാരന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു; അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തനും ശേഷിച്ചില്ല എന്നു ദാവീദിന്നു വർത്തമാനം എത്തി.

Then the king arose, and tare his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു എഴുന്നേറ്റു വസ്ത്രംകീറി നിലത്തു കിടന്നു; അവന്റെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരും വസ്ത്രം കീറി അരികെ നിന്നു.

And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have slain all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this has been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ ജ്യേഷ്ഠനായ ശിമെയയുടെ മകനായ യോനാദാബ് പറഞ്ഞതു: അവർ രാജകുമാരന്മാരായ യുവാക്കളെ ഒക്കെയും കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു യജമാനൻ വിചാരിക്കരുതു; അമ്നോൻ മാത്രമെ മരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളു; തന്റെ സഹോദരിയായ താമാരിനെ അവൻ അവമാനിച്ച നാൾമുതൽ അബ്ശാലോമിന്റെ മുഖത്തു ഈ നിർണ്ണയം കാണ്മാൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead: for Amnon only is dead.ആകയാൽ രാജകുമാരന്മാർ ഒക്കെയും മരിച്ചുപോയി എന്നുള്ള വർത്തമാനം യജമാനനായ രാജാവു ഗണ്യമാക്കരുതേ; അമ്നോൻ മാത്രമേ മരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള.

But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill side behind him.എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോം ഓടിപ്പോയി. കാവൽനിന്നിരുന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരൻ തല ഉയർത്തിനോക്കിയപ്പോൾ വളരെ ജനം അവന്റെ പിമ്പിലുള്ള മലഞ്ചരിവുവഴിയായി വരുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, the king's sons come: as your servant said, so it is.അപ്പോൾ യോനാദാബ് രാജാവിനോടു: ഇതാ, രാജകുമാരന്മാർ വരുന്നു; അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു ഒത്തുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice and wept: and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചു തീർന്നപ്പോഴെക്കു രാജകുമാരന്മാർ വന്നു ഉറക്കെ കരഞ്ഞു. രാജാവും സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരും വാവിട്ടുകരഞ്ഞു.

But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.എന്നാൽ അബ്ശാലോം ഓടിപ്പോയി അമ്മീഹൂദിന്റെ മകനായി ഗെശൂർരാജാവായ താല്മായിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു. ദാവീദോ ഇടവിടാതെ തന്റെ മകനെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുഃഖിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.ഇങ്ങനെ അബ്ശാലോം ഗെശൂരിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോയി മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം അവിടെ താമസിച്ചു.

And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ്‍രാജാവു അബ്ശാലോമിനെ കാണ്മാൻ വാഞ്ഛിച്ചു; മരിച്ചുപോയ അമ്നോനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ദുഃഖത്തിന്നു ആശ്വാസം വന്നിരുന്നു.
