And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show yourself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.ഏറിയനാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു മൂന്നാം സംവത്സരത്തിൽ ഏലീയാവിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി: നീ ചെന്നു ആഹാബിന്നു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ കാണിക്ക; ഞാൻ ഭൂതലത്തിൽ മഴ പെയ്യിപ്പാൻ പോകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Elijah went to show himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria.ഏലീയാവു ആഹാബിന്നു തന്നെത്താൻ കാണിപ്പാൻ പോയി; ക്ഷാമമോ ശമര്യയിൽ കഠിനമായിരുന്നു.

And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly:ആകയാൽ ആഹാബ് തന്റെ ഗൃഹവിചാരകനായ ഓബദ്യാവെ ആളയച്ചുവരുത്തി; ഓബദ്യാവോ യഹോവയിങ്കൽ മഹാഭക്തനായിരുന്നു.

For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)ഈസേബെൽ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുമ്പോൾ ഓബദ്യാവു നൂറു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു ഓരോ ഗുഹയിൽ അമ്പതീതുപേരായി ഒളിപ്പിച്ചു അപ്പവും വെള്ളവും കൊടുത്തു രക്ഷിച്ചു.

And Ahab said unto Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all brooks: possibly we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.ആഹാബ് ഓബദ്യാവോടു: നീ നാട്ടിലുള്ള എല്ലാ നീരുറവുകളുടെയും തോടുകളുടെയും അരികത്തു ചെന്നു നോക്കുക; പക്ഷേ മൃഗങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം നശിച്ചുപോകാതെ കുതിരകളെയും കോവർകഴുതകളെയും എങ്കിലും ജീവനോടെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ നമുക്കു പുല്ലു കിട്ടും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it: Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.അവർ ദേശത്തുകൂടി സഞ്ചരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതിനെ തമ്മിൽ പകുത്തു; ആഹാബ് തനിച്ചു ഒരു വഴിക്കു പോയി, ഓബദ്യാവും തനിച്ചു മറ്റൊരു വഴിക്കു പോയി,

And as Obadiah was in the way, behold, Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Are you that my lord Elijah?ഓബദ്യാവു വഴിയിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു എതിരേറ്റുവരുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവനെ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു: എന്റെ യജമാനനായ ഏലീയാവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And he answered him, I am: go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here.അവൻ അവനോടു: അതേ, ഞാൻ തന്നേ; നീ ചെന്നു ഏലീയാവു ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനോടു ബോധിപ്പിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, What have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?അതിന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു: അടിയനെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു അഹാബിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിപ്പാൻ അടിയൻ എന്തു പാപം ചെയ്തു?

As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom, where my lord has not sent to seek you: and when they said, He is not there; he took an oath of the kingdom and nation, that they found you not.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയാണ, നിന്നെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ എന്റെ യജമാനൻ ആളെ അയക്കാത്ത ജാതിയും രാജ്യവും ഇല്ല; നീ അവിടെ ഇല്ല എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അവൻ ആ രാജ്യത്തെയും ജാതിയെയുംകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല എന്നു സത്യം ചെയ്യിച്ചു.

And now you says, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here.ഇങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നീ എന്നോടു: ചെന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനോടു: ഏലീയാവു ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു ബോധിപ്പിക്ക എന്നു കല്പിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am gone from you, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry you where I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he shall slay me: but I your servant fear the LORD from my youth.ഞാൻ നിന്നെ പിരിഞ്ഞുപോയ ഉടനെ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു നിന്നെ ഞാൻ അറിയാത്ത ഒരു സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകും; ഞാൻ ആഹാബിനോടു ചെന്നറിയിക്കയും അവൻ നിന്നെ കണ്ടെത്താതെ ഇരിക്കയും ചെയ്താൽ അവൻ എന്നെ കൊല്ലുമല്ലോ; അടിയനോ ബാല്യംമുതൽ യഹോവഭക്തൻ ആകുന്നു.

Was it not told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of the LORD, how I hid an hundred men of the LORD's prophets by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water?ഈസേബെൽ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരിൽ നൂറുപേരെ ഓരോ ഗുഹയിൽ അമ്പതീതുപേരായി ഒളിപ്പിച്ചു അപ്പവും വെള്ളവും കൊടുത്തു രക്ഷിച്ച വസ്തുത യജമാനൻ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലയോ?

And now you says, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here: and he shall slay me.അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നീ എന്നോടു: ചെന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനോടു: ഏലീയാവു ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടെന്നു ബോധിപ്പിക്ക എന്നു കല്പിക്കുന്നുവോ? അവൻ എന്നെ കൊല്ലുമല്ലോ.

And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself unto him to day.അതിന്നു ഏലീയാവു: ഞാൻ സേവിച്ചുനില്ക്കുന്ന സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയാണ, ഞാൻ ഇന്നു അവന്നു എന്നെത്തന്നേ കാണിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told him: and Ahab went to meet Elijah.അങ്ങനെ ഓബദ്യാവു ആഹാബിനെ ചെന്നു കണ്ടു വസ്തുത അറിയിച്ചു; ആഹാബ് ഏലീയാവെ കാണ്മാൻ ചെന്നു.

And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Are you he that troubles Israel?ആഹാബ് ഏലീയാവെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവനോടു: ആർ ഇതു? യിസ്രായേലിനെ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തുന്നവനോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but you, and your father's house, in that all of you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and you have followed Baalim.അതിന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു: യിസ്രായേലിനെ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതു ഞാനല്ല, നീയും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനവുമത്രേ. നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനകളെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയും നീ ബാൽവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ ചെന്നു സേവിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നേ.

Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ആളയച്ചു എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനെയും ബാലിന്റെ നാനൂറ്റമ്പതു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും ഈസേബെലിന്റെ മേശയിങ്കൽ ഭക്ഷിച്ചുവരുന്ന നാനൂറു അശേരാപ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും കർമ്മേൽപർവ്വതത്തിൽ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തുക.

So Ahab sent unto all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together unto mount Carmel.അങ്ങനെ ആഹാബ് എല്ലായിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെയും അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു കർമ്മേൽപർവ്വതത്തിൽ ആ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി.

And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt all of you between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.അപ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു അടുത്തുചെന്നു സർവ്വജനത്തോടും: നിങ്ങൾ എത്രത്തോളം രണ്ടു തോണിയിൽ കാൽവെക്കും? യഹോവ ദൈവം എങ്കിൽ അവനെ അനുഗമിപ്പിൻ; ബാൽ എങ്കിലോ അവനെ അനുഗമിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എന്നാൽ ജനം അവനോടു ഉത്തരം ഒന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.പിന്നെ ഏലീയാവു ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനായി ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രമേ ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുള്ളു; ബാലിന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരോ നാനൂറ്റമ്പതുപേരുണ്ടു.

Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under:ഞങ്ങൾക്കു രണ്ടു കാളയെ തരട്ടെ; ഒരു കാളയെ അവർ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു ഖണ്ഡംഖണ്ഡമാക്കി തീ ഇടാതെ വിറകിന്മേൽ വെക്കട്ടെ; മറ്റേ കാളയെ ഞാനും ഒരുക്കി തീ ഇടാതെ വിറകിന്മേൽ വെക്കാം;

And call all of you on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answers by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേവന്റെ നാമത്തെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കാം; തീകൊണ്ടു ഉത്തരം അരുളുന്ന ദൈവം തന്നേ ദൈവമെന്നു ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; അതിന്നു ജനം എല്ലാം:

And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for all of you are many; and call on the name of your gods, but put no fire under.അതു നല്ലവാക്കു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ ഏലീയാവു ബാലിന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ ഒരു കാളയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു ആദ്യം ഒരുക്കിക്കൊൾവിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ അധികം പേരുണ്ടല്ലോ; എന്നിട്ടു തീ ഇടാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദേവന്റെ നാമത്തെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And they took the bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they leaped upon the altar which was made.അങ്ങനെ അവർക്കു കൊടുത്ത കാളയെ അവർ എടുത്തു ഒരുക്കി: ബാലേ, ഉത്തരമരുളേണമേ എന്നു രാവിലെ തുടങ്ങി ഉച്ചവരെ ബാലിന്റെ നാമത്തെ വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിച്ചു. ഒരു ശബ്ദമോ ഉത്തരമോ ഉണ്ടായില്ല. തങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ബലിപീഠത്തിന്നു ചുറ്റും അവർ തുള്ളിച്ചാടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is talking, or he is pursuing, or he is in a journey, or possibly he sleeps, and must be awaked.ഉച്ചയായപ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു അവരെ പരിഹസിച്ചു: ഉറക്കെ വിളിപ്പിൻ; അവൻ ദേവനല്ലോ; അവൻ ധ്യാനിക്കയാകുന്നു; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വെളിക്കു പോയിരിക്കയാകുന്നു; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ യാത്രയിലാകുന്നു; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പക്ഷെ ഉറങ്ങുകയാകുന്നു; അവനെ ഉണർത്തേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.അവർ ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചു പതിവുപോലെ രക്തം ഒഴുകുവോളം വാൾകൊണ്ടും കുന്തംകൊണ്ടും തങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ മുറിവേല്പിച്ചു.

And it came to pass, when midday was past, and they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.ഉച്ചതിരിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ഭോജനയാഗം കഴിക്കുന്ന സമയംവരെ അവർ വെളിച്ചപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; എന്നിട്ടും ഒരു ശബ്ദമോ ഉത്തരമോ ശ്രദ്ധയോ ഉണ്ടായില്ല.

And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.അപ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു: എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുവിൻ എന്നു സർവ്വജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞു. സർവ്വജനവും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചേർന്നു. അവൻ ഇടിഞ്ഞുകിടന്ന യഹോവയുടെ യാഗപീഠം നന്നാക്കി;

And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be your name:നിനക്കു യിസ്രായേൽ എന്നു പേരാകും എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ലഭിച്ച യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ ഗോത്രസംഖ്യെക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം പന്ത്രണ്ടു കല്ലു എടുത്തു,

And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.കല്ലുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു; യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റും രണ്ടു സെയാ വിത്തു വിതെപ്പാൻ മതിയായ വിസ്താരത്തിൽ ഒരു തോടു ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, Fill four barrels with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood.പിന്നെ അവൻ വിറകു അടുക്കി കാളയെ ഖണ്ഡംഖണ്ഡമാക്കി വിറകിൻ മീതെ വെച്ചു; നാലു തൊട്ടിയിൽ വെള്ളം നിറെച്ചു ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്മേലും വിറകിന്മേലും ഒഴിപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യവും അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്‍വിൻ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യവും ചെയ്തു; അതിന്റെ ശേഷം: മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യവും അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്‍വിൻ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ മൂന്നാം പ്രാവശ്യവും ചെയ്തു.

And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water.വെള്ളം യാഗപീഠത്തിന്റെ ചുറ്റം ഒഴുകി; അവൻ തോട്ടിലും വെള്ളം നിറെച്ചു.

And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word.ഭോജനയാഗം കഴിക്കുന്ന നേരമായപ്പോൾ ഏലീയാപ്രവാചകൻ അടുത്തുചെന്നു: അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെയും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെയും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെയും ദൈവയമായ യഹോവേ, യിസ്രയേലിൽ നീ ദൈവമെന്നും ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ദാസൻ എന്നും ഈ കാര്യങ്ങളൊക്കെയും ഞാൻ നിന്റെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം ചെയ്തു എന്നും ഇന്നു വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരട്ടെ.

Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that you are the LORD God, and that you have turned their heart back again.യഹോവേ, എനിക്കു ഉത്തരമരുളേണമേ; നീ ദൈവം തന്നേ യഹോവേ; നീ തങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം വീണ്ടും തിരിച്ചു എന്നു ഈ ജനം അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു എനിക്കു ഉത്തരമരുളേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.ഉടനെ യഹോവയുടെ തീ ഇറങ്ങി ഹോമയാഗവും വിറകും മണ്ണും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചു തോട്ടിലെ വെള്ളവും വറ്റിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.ജനം എല്ലാം അതു കണ്ടു കവിണ്ണുവീണു: യഹോവ തന്നേ ദൈവം, യഹോവ തന്നേ ദൈവം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.ഏലീയാവു അവരോടു: ബാലിന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ പിടിപ്പിൻ; അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തനും ചാടിപ്പോകരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അവരെ പിടിച്ചു; ഏലീയാവു അവരെ താഴെ കീശോൻ തോട്ടിന്നരികെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get you up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.പിന്നെ ഏലീയാവു ആഹാബിനോടു: നീ ചെന്നു ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനം ചെയ്ക; വലിയ മഴയുടെ മുഴക്കം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,ആഹാബ് ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു മല കയറിപ്പോയി. ഏലീയാവോ കർമ്മേൽ പർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ മുകളിൽ കയറി നിലത്തു കുനിഞ്ഞു മുഖം തന്റെ മുഴങ്കാലുകളുടെ നടുവിൽ വെച്ചു തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനോടു:

And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.നീ ചെന്നു കടലിന്നു നേരെ നോക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ ചെന്നു നോക്കീട്ടു: ഒന്നും ഇല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: പിന്നെയും ഏഴുപ്രാവശ്യം ചെല്ലുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there arises a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare your chariot, and get you down that the rain stop you not.ഏഴാം പ്രാവശ്യമോ അവൻ: ഇതാ, കടലിൽനിന്നു ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെ കൈപോലെ ഒരു ചെറിയ മേഘം പൊങ്ങുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: നീ ചെന്നു ആഹാബിനോടു: മഴ നിന്നെ തടുക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രഥം പൂട്ടി ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോക എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ ഏലീയാവിന്മേൽ വന്നു; അവൻ അര മുറുക്കിയുംകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേലിൽ എത്തുംവരെ ആഹാബിന്നു മുമ്പായി ഓടി.

And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and likewise how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.ഏലീയാവു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവൻ സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്ന വിവരമൊക്കെയും ആഹാബ് ഈസേബെലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.ഈസേബെൽ ഏലീയാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരു ദൂതനെ അയച്ചു: നാളെ ഈ നേരത്തു ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ജീവനെ അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തന്റെ ജീവനെപ്പോലെ ആക്കുന്നില്ല എങ്കിൽ ദേവന്മാർ എന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.അവൻ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ജീവരക്ഷെക്കായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു യെഹൂദെക്കുൾപ്പെട്ട ബേർ-ശേബയിൽ ചെന്നു അവിടെ തന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരനെ താമസിപ്പിച്ചു.

But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.താനോ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി ചെന്നു ഒരു ചൂരച്ചെടിയുടെ തണലിൽ ഇരുന്നു മരിപ്പാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചു; ഇപ്പോൾ മതി, യഹോവേ, എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ എടുത്തുകൊള്ളേണമേ; ഞാൻ എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെക്കാൾ നല്ലവനല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.അങ്ങനെ അവൻ ചൂരച്ചെടിയുടെ തണലിൽ കിടന്നുറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ പെട്ടെന്നു ഒരു ദൂതൻ അവനെ തട്ടി അവനോടു: എഴുന്നേറ്റു തിന്നുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for you.യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതൻ രണ്ടാം പ്രാവശ്യം വന്നു അവനെ തട്ടി: എഴുന്നേറ്റു തിന്നുക; നിനക്കു ദൂരയാത്ര ചെയ്‍വാനുണ്ടല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.അവൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു തിന്നുകുടിച്ചു; ആ ആഹാരത്തിന്റെ ബലംകൊണ്ടു നാല്പതു പകലും നാല്പതു രാവും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പർവ്വതമായ ഹോരേബോളം നടന്നു.

And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What do you here, Elijah?അവിടെ അവൻ ഒരു ഗുഹയിൽ കടന്നു രാപാർത്തു; അപ്പോൾ അവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി, അവനോടു: ഏലീയാവേ, ഇവിടെ നിനക്കു എന്തു കാര്യം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down yours altars, and slain your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.അതിന്നു അവൻ: സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു വേണ്ടി ഞാൻ വളരെ ശുഷ്കാന്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ നിന്റെ നിയമത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു നിന്റെ യാഗപീഠങ്ങളെ ഇടിച്ചു നിന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു; ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ എനിക്കും ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:നീ പുറത്തു വന്നു പർവ്വതത്തിൽ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിൽക്ക എന്നു അവൻ കല്പിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ ഇതാ യഹോവ കടന്നുപോകുന്നു; ശക്തിയുള്ള ഒരു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പിൽ പർവ്വതങ്ങളെ കീറി പാറകളെ തകർത്തു; എന്നാൽ കാറ്റിൽ യഹോവ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; കാറ്റിന്റെ ശേഷം ഒരു ഭൂകമ്പം ഉണ്ടായി; ഭൂകമ്പത്തിലും യഹോവ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.ഭൂകമ്പത്തിന്റെ ശേഷം ഒരു തീ; തീയിലും യഹോവ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; തീയുടെ ശേഷം സാവധാനത്തിൽ ഒരു മൃദുസ്വരം ഉണ്ടായി.

And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What do you here, Elijah?ഏലീയാവു അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു തന്റെ പുതപ്പുകൊണ്ടു മുഖം മൂടി പുറത്തു വന്നു ഗുഹാമുഖത്തുനിന്നു: ഏലീയാവേ, ഇവിടെ നിനക്കു എന്തു കാര്യം എന്നു ചോദിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ശബ്ദം അവൻ കേട്ടു.

And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when you come, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:യഹോവ അവനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ദമ്മേശെക്കിന്റെ മരുഭൂമിവഴിയായി മടങ്ങിപ്പോക; നീ എത്തുമ്പോൾ ഹസായേലിനെ അരാമിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്ക.

And Jehu the son of Nimshi shall you anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shall you anoint to be prophet in your room.നിംശിയുടെ മകനായ യേഹൂവിനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യേണം; ആബേൽ-മെഹോലയിൽനിന്നുള്ള സാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ എലീശയെ നിനക്കു പകരം പ്രവാചകനായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്കയും വേണം.

And it shall come to pass, that him that escapes the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapes from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.ഹസായേലിന്റെ വാളിന്നു തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നവനെ യേഹൂ കൊല്ലും; യേഹൂവിന്റെ വാളിന്നു തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നവനെ എലീശാ കൊല്ലും.

Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which has not kissed him.എന്നാൽ ബാലിന്നു മടങ്ങാത്ത മുഴങ്കാലും അവനെ ചുംബനം ചെയ്യാത്ത വായുമുള്ളവരായി ആകെ ഏഴായിരംപേരെ ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിൽ ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray you, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you. And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. And Benhadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots; and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.അരാംരാജാവായ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് തന്റെ സൈന്യത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി; അവനോടുകൂടെ മുപ്പത്തുരണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരും കുതിരകളും രഥങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു ശമര്യയെ നിരോധിച്ചു അതിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു.

And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus says Benhadad,അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു അവനോടു:

Your silver and your gold is mine; your wives also and your children, even the best, are mine.നിന്റെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും എനിക്കുള്ളതു; നിന്റെ സൌന്ദര്യമേറിയ ഭാര്യമാരും പുത്രന്മാരും എനിക്കുള്ളവർ എന്നിങ്ങനെ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to your saying, I am yours, and all that I have.അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു: എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ, നീ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ഞാനും എനിക്കുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിനക്കുള്ളതു തന്നേ എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaks Benhadad, saying, Although I have sent unto you, saying, You shall deliver me your silver, and your gold, and your wives, and your children;ദൂതന്മാർ വീണ്ടും വന്നു: ബെൻ-ഹദദ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുന്നു: നിന്റെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും എനിക്കു തരേണമെന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചുവല്ലോ;

Yet I will send my servants unto you tomorrow about this time, and they shall search yours house, and the houses of your servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in yours eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.നാളെ ഈ നേരത്തു ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കും; അവർ നിന്റെ അരമനയും നിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെ വീടുകളും ശോധനചെയ്തു നിനക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളതൊക്കെയും കൈക്കലാക്കി കൊണ്ടുപോരും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeks mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു ദേശത്തുള്ള എല്ലാമൂപ്പന്മാരെയും വരുത്തി: അവൻ ദോഷം ഭാവിക്കുന്നതു നോക്കിക്കാണ്മിൻ; എന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും പുത്രന്മാരെയും എന്റെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും, അവൻ ആളയച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ വിരോധിച്ചില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And all the elders and all the people said unto him, Hearken not unto him, nor consent.എല്ലാമൂപ്പന്മാരും സകലജനവും അവനോടു: നീ കേൾക്കരുതു, സമ്മതിക്കയും അരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Benhadad, Tell my lord the king, All that you did send in order to your servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.ആകയാൽ അവൻ ബെൻ-ഹദദിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനോടു: നീ ആദ്യം അടിയന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം; എന്നാൽ ഈ കാര്യം എനിക്കു ചെയ്‍വാൻ കഴിവില്ല എന്നു ബോധിപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ദൂതന്മാർ ചെന്നു ഈ മറുപടി ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു

And Benhadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.ബെൻ-ഹദദ് അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: എന്നോടുകൂടെയുള്ള എല്ലാ പടജ്ജനത്തിന്നും കൈക്കു ഓരോ പിടിവാരുവാൻ ശമര്യയിലെ പൊടി മതിയാകുമെങ്കിൽ ദേവന്മാർ എന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടേ എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girds on his harness boast himself as he that puts it off.അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു: വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടുന്നവൻ അഴിച്ചുകളയുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ വമ്പുപറയരുതു എന്നു അവനോടു പറവിൻ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And it came to pass, when Ben-hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.എന്നാൽ അവനും രാജാക്കന്മാരും മണിപ്പന്തലിൽ കുടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഈ വാക്കു കേട്ടിട്ടു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ഒരുങ്ങിക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ അവർ പട്ടണത്തിന്നു നേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നൊരുങ്ങി.

And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus says the LORD, Have you seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into yours hand this day; and you shall know that I am the LORD.എന്നാൽ ഒരു പ്രവാചകൻ യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഈ മഹാസംഘത്തെ ഒക്കെയും നീ കണ്ടുവോ? ഞാൻ ഇന്നു അതിനെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും; ഞാൻ യഹോവ എന്നു നീ അറിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus says the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, You.ആരെക്കൊണ്ടു എന്നു ആഹാബ് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവൻ: ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരെക്കൊണ്ടു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആർ പട തുടങ്ങേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: നീ തന്നേ എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.അവൻ ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരെ എണ്ണി നോക്കി; അവർ ഇരുനൂറ്റിമുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടുപേരായിരുന്നു. അവരുടെശേഷം അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ പടജ്ജനത്തെയൊക്കെയും എണ്ണി ഏഴായിരം പേർ എന്നു കണ്ടു.

And they went out at noon. But Benhadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.അവർ ഉച്ചസമയത്തു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; എന്നാൽ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് തനിക്കു തുണയായിരുന്ന മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ മണിപ്പന്തലിൽ കുടിച്ചുമത്തനായിരുന്നു.

And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Benhadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാർ ആദ്യം പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ബെൻ-ഹദദ് ആളയച്ചു അന്വേഷിച്ചാറെ ശമര്യയിൽ നിന്നു ആളുകൾ വരുന്നുണ്ടെന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി.

And he said, Whether they be come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they be come out for war, take them alive.അപ്പോൾ അവൻ: അവർ സമാധാനത്തിന്നു വരുന്നെങ്കിലും അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിപ്പിൻ; അവർ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു വരുന്നെങ്കിലും അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them.പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നതോ, ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരും അവരെ തുടർന്നുപോന്ന സൈന്യവും ആയിരുന്നു.

And the king of Israel went out, and stroke the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.പിന്നെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു പുറപ്പെട്ടു കുതിരകളെയും രഥങ്ങളെയും പിടിച്ചു; അരാമ്യരെ കഠിനമായി തോല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.അരാംരാജാവിനോടു അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞതു: അവരുടെ ദേവന്മാർ പർവ്വതദേവന്മാരാകുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടത്രെ അവർ നമ്മെ തോല്പിച്ചതു; സമഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു അവരോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്താൽ നാം അവരെ തോല്പിക്കും.

And do this thing, Take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their rooms:അതുകൊണ്ടു നീ ഒരു കാര്യം ചെയ്യേണം: ആ രാജാക്കന്മാരെ അവനവന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നു മാറ്റി അവർക്കു പകരം ദേശാധിപതിമാരെ നിയമിക്കേണം.

And number you an army, like the army that you have lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot: and we will fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. And it came to pass at the return of the year, that Benhadad numbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.പിറ്റെ ആണ്ടിൽ ബെൻ-ഹദദ് അരാമ്യരെ എണ്ണിനോക്കി യിസ്രായേലിനോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്‍വാൻ അഫേക്കിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു.

And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and went against them: and the children of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.യിസ്രായേല്യരെയും എണ്ണിനോക്കി; അവർ ഭക്ഷണപദാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ എടുത്തു അവരുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യിസ്രായേല്യർ ആട്ടിൻ കുട്ടികളുടെ രണ്ടു ചെറിയ കൂട്ടംപോലെ അവരുടെ നേരെ പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി; അരാമ്യരോ ദേശത്തു നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

And they pitched one opposite to the other seven days. But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men that were left. So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Your servant Benhadad says, I pray you, let me live. Now the men did diligently observe whether any thing would come from him, and did hastily catch it: and they said, Your brother Benhadad. Then he said, Go all of you, bring him. And Ben-hadad said unto him, The cities, which my father took from your father, I will restore; and you shall make streets for you in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send you away with this covenant. And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Strike me, I pray you. Then said he unto him, Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as you are departed from me, a lion shall slay you. Then he found another man, and said, Strike me, I pray you. And the man stroke him, so that in smiting he wounded him.പിന്നെ അവൻ മറ്റൊരുത്തനെ കണ്ടു: എന്നെ അടിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ അവനെ അടിച്ചു മുറിവേല്പിച്ചു.

And as your servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And he said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Because you have let go out of your hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.അവൻ അവനോടു: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നാശത്തിന്നായിട്ടു ഞാൻ നിയമിച്ച ആളെ നീ വിട്ടയച്ചുകളകകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ജീവൻ അവന്റെ ജീവന്നും നിന്റെ ജനം അവന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നും പകരമായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the king of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased, and came to Samaria.അതുകൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു വ്യസനവും നീരസവും ഉള്ളവനായി അരമനയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശമര്യയിൽ എത്തി.

And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.അതിന്റെ ശേഷം സംഭവിച്ചതു: യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്നു യിസ്രെയേലിൽ ശമര്യരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ അരമനയുടെ സമീപത്തു ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്ത്: എന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അവകാശം ഞാൻ നിനക്കു തരികയില്ല എന്നു തന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കുനിമിത്തം ആഹാബ് വ്യസനവും നീരസവും പൂണ്ടു തന്റെ അരമനയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; ഭക്ഷണം ഒന്നും കഴിക്കാതെ കട്ടിലിന്മേൽ മുഖം തിരിച്ചു കിടന്നു.

But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is your spirit so sad, that you eat no bread?അപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈസേബെൽ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: ഭക്ഷണം ഒന്നും കഴിക്കാതെ ഇത്ര വ്യസനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു.

And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, You did blaspheme God and the king. And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.നാബോത്ത് മരിച്ചു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ആഹാബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു യിസ്രെയേല്യനായ നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ അവിടേക്കു പോയി.

And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവിന്നുണ്ടായതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he is gone down to possess it.നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശമര്യയിലെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബിനെ എതിരേല്പാൻ ചെല്ലുക; ഇതാ, അവൻ നാബോത്തിന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ അവിടേക്കു പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.

And you shall speak unto him, saying, Thus says the LORD, Have you killed, and also taken possession? And you shall speak unto him, saying, Thus says the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick your blood, even yours.നീ അവനോടു: നീ കുലചെയ്കയും കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുവോ എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിക്കന്നു. നായ്ക്കൾ നാബോത്തിന്റെ രക്തം നക്കിയ സ്ഥലത്തു വെച്ചു തന്നേ നിന്റെ രക്തവും നക്കിക്കളയും എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നീ അവനോടു പറക.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found you: because you have sold yourself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.ആഹാബ് ഏലീയാവോടു: എന്റെ ശത്രുവേ, നീ എന്നെ കണ്ടെത്തിയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: അതേ, ഞാൻ കണ്ടെത്തി. യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്‍വാൻ നീ നിന്നെ വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു

Behold, I will bring evil upon you, and will take away your posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisses against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,ഞാൻ നിന്റെ മേൽ അനർത്ഥം വരുത്തും; നിന്നെ അശേഷം നിർമ്മൂലമാക്കി യിസ്രായേലിൽ അഹാബിന്നുള്ള സ്വതന്ത്രനും അസ്വതന്ത്രനുമായ പുരുഷപ്രജയെ ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ നിഗ്രഹിച്ചുകളയും.

And will make yours house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith you have provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.നീ എന്നെ കോപിപ്പിക്കയും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും അഹീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ ബയെശയുടെ ഗൃഹത്തെപ്പോലെയും ആക്കും.

And of Jezebel also spoke the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.ഈസേബെലിനെക്കുറിച്ചു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു: നായ്ക്കൾ ഈസേബെലിനെ യിസ്രെയേലിന്റെ മതിലരികെവെച്ചു തിന്നുകളയും.

Him that dies of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dies in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.ആഹാബിന്റെ സന്തതിയിൽ പട്ടണത്തിൽ വെച്ചു മരിക്കുന്നവനെ നായ്ക്കൾ തിന്നും; വയലിൽവെച്ചു മരിക്കുന്നവനെ ആകാശത്തിലെ പക്ഷികൾ തിന്നും.

But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.എന്നാൽ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്‍വാൻ തന്നെത്താൻ വിറ്റുകളഞ്ഞ ആഹാബിനെപ്പോലെ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല; അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഈസേബെൽ അവനെ അതിന്നായി ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.യഹോവ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കക്കളഞ്ഞ അമോര്യർ ചെയ്തതുപോലെയൊക്കെയും അവൻ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ ചെന്നു സേവിച്ചു മഹാമ്ളേച്ഛത പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.

And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.ആഹാബ് ആ വാക്കു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ വസ്ത്രം കീറി, തന്റെ ദേഹം പറ്റെ രട്ടുടുത്തുകൊണ്ടു ഉപവസിച്ചു, രട്ടിൽ തന്നേ കിടക്കുകയും സാവധാനമായി നടക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു തിശ്ബ്യനായ ഏലീയാവിന്നു ഉണ്ടായി:

See you how Ahab humbles himself before me? because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.ആഹാബ് എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ തന്നെത്താൻ താഴ്ത്തിയതു കണ്ടുവോ? അവൻ എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ തന്നെത്താൻ താഴ്ത്തിയതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അവന്റെ ജീവകാലത്തു അനർത്ഥം വരുത്താതെ അവന്റെ മകന്റെ കാലത്തു അവന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നു അനർത്ഥം വരുത്തും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
