Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,അതിന്റെശേഷം പാർസിരാജാവായ അർത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാവിന്റെ വാഴ്ചകാലത്തു എസ്രാ ബാബേലിൽനിന്നു വന്നു. അവൻ സെരായാവിന്റെ മകൻ; അവൻ അസർയ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ; അവൻ ഹിൽക്കീയാവിന്റെ മകൻ;

The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,അവൻ ശല്ലൂമിന്റെ മകൻ; അവൻ സാദോക്കിന്റെ മകൻ; അവൻ അഹീത്തൂബിന്റെ മകൻ;

This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.ഈ എസ്രാ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നല്കിയ മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽ വിദഗ്ദ്ധനായ ശാസ്ത്രി ആയിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ അവന്നു അനുകൂലമായിരിക്കയാൽ രാജാവു അവന്റെ അപേക്ഷ ഒക്കെയും അവന്നു നല്കി.

And there went up some of the children of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.അവനോടുകൂടെ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളിലും പുരോഹിതന്മാരിലും ലേവ്യരിലും സംഗീതക്കാരിലും വാതിൽകാവൽക്കാരിലും ദൈവാലയദാസന്മാരിലും ചിലർ അർത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്റെ ഏഴാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെരൂശലേമിൽ വന്നു.

And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.അഞ്ചാം മാസത്തിൽ ആയിരുന്നു അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ വന്നതു; അതു രാജാവിന്റെ ഏഴാം ആണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.ഒന്നാം മാസം ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി അവൻ ബാബേലിൽനിന്നു യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു; തന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൈ തനിക്കു അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ അഞ്ചാം മാസം ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി യെരൂശലേമിൽ എത്തി.

For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം പരിശോധിപ്പാനും അതു അനുസരിച്ചു നടപ്പാനും യിസ്രായേലിൽ അതിന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും ഉപദേശിപ്പാനും എസ്രാ മനസ്സുവെച്ചിരുന്നു.

Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD, and of his statutes to Israel.യിസ്രായേലിനോടുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനകളുടെയും ചട്ടങ്ങളുടെയും വാക്യങ്ങളിൽ വിദഗ്ദ്ധശാസ്ത്രീയായ എസ്രാപുരോഹിതന്നു അർത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാരാജാവു കൊടുത്ത എഴുത്തിന്റെ പകർപ്പാവിതു:

Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.രാജാധിരാജാവായ അർത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാവു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽ ശാസ്ത്രീയായ എസ്രാപുരോഹിതന്നു എഴുതുന്നതു: ഇത്യാദി.

I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with you.നമ്മുടെ രാജ്യത്തുള്ള യിസ്രായേൽജനത്തിലും അവന്റെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരിലും ലേവ്യരിലും യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോകുവാൻ മനസ്സുള്ള ഏവനും നിന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരുന്നതിന്നു ഞാൻ കല്പന കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

Forasmuch as you are sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of your God which is in yours hand;നിന്റെ കൈവശം ഇരിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം യെഹൂദയിലെയും യെരൂശലേമിലെയും കാര്യം അന്വേഷിപ്പാനും രാജാവും അവന്റെ മന്ത്രിമാരും

And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,യെരൂശലേമിൽ അധിവസിക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഔദാര്യമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും,

And all the silver and gold that you can find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:ബാബേൽ സംസ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നൊക്കെയും നിനക്കു ലഭിക്കുന്ന വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും എല്ലാം യെരൂശലേമിൽ തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയം വകെക്കു ജനവും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും തരുന്ന ഔദാര്യദാനങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാനും രാജാവും അവന്റെ ഏഴു മന്ത്രിമാരും നിന്നെ അയക്കുന്നു.

That you may buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their food offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.ആകയാൽ നീ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ആ ദ്രവ്യംകൊണ്ടു കാളകളെയും ആട്ടുകൊറ്റന്മാരെയും കുഞ്ഞാടുകളെയും അവെക്കു വേണ്ടുന്ന ഭോജനയാഗങ്ങളെയും പാനീയയാഗങ്ങളെയും മേടിച്ചു യെരൂശലേമിലുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിലെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ അർപ്പിക്കേണം.

And whatsoever shall seem good to you, and to your brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.ശേഷിപ്പുള്ള വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നുംകൊണ്ടു ചെയ്‍വാൻ നിനക്കും നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കും യുക്തമെന്നു തോന്നുംപോലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു പ്രസാദമാകുംവണ്ണം ചെയ്തുകൊൾവിൻ.

The vessels also that are given you for the service of the house of your God, those deliver you before the God of Jerusalem.നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിലെ ശുശ്രൂഷെക്കായിട്ടു നിന്റെ കൈവശം തന്നിരിക്കുന്ന ഉപകരണങ്ങളും നീ യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ ഏല്പിക്കേണം.

And whatsoever more shall be necessary for the house of your God, which you shall have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിന്നു പിന്നെയും ആവശ്യമുള്ളതായി കൊടുക്കേണ്ടിവരുന്നതു നീ രാജാവിന്റെ ഭണ്ഡാരഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്നു കൊടുത്തു കൊള്ളേണം.

And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,അർത്ഥഹ്ശഷ്ടാരാജാവായ നാം നദിക്കു അക്കരെയുള്ള സകലഭണ്ഡാരവിചാരകന്മാർക്കും കല്പന കൊടുക്കുന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിൽ ശാസ്ത്രിയായ എസ്രാപുരോഹിതൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും നൂറു താലന്ത് വെള്ളിയും നൂറു കോർ കോതമ്പും നൂറു ബത്ത് വീഞ്ഞും നൂറു ബത്ത് എണ്ണയുംവരെയും

Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.ഉപ്പു വേണ്ടുംപോലെയും ജാഗ്രതയോടെ കൊടുക്കേണം.

²³

Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?രാജാവിന്റെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെയും രാജ്യത്തിന്മേൽ ക്രോധം വരാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിന്നു അവകാശമുള്ളതൊക്കെയും കൃത്യമായി ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

Also we certify you, that concerning any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.പുരോഹിതന്മാർ, ലേവ്യർ, സംഗീതക്കാർ, വാതിൽകാവൽക്കാർ, ദൈവാലയദാസന്മാർ എന്നിവർക്കും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഈ ആലയത്തിൽ ശുശ്രൂഷിക്കുന്ന യാതൊരുത്തന്നും കരമോ നികുതിയോ ചുങ്കമോ ചുമത്തുന്നതു വിഹിതമല്ല എന്നും നാം നിങ്ങൾക്കു അറിവുതരുന്നു.

And you, Ezra, after the wisdom of your God, that is in yours hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach all of you them that know them not.നീയോ എസ്രയേ, നിനക്കു നിന്റെ ദൈവം നല്കിയ ജ്ഞാനപ്രകാരം നദിക്കക്കരെ പാർക്കുന്ന സകലജനത്തിന്നും, നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്ന ഏവർക്കും തന്നേ, ന്യായം പാലിച്ചുകൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അധികാരികളെയും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരെയും നിയമിക്കേണം; അറിയാത്തവർക്കോ നിങ്ങൾ അവയെ ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊടക്കേണം.

²⁶

And whosoever will not do the law of your God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണവും രാജാവിന്റെ ന്യയാപ്രമാണവും അനുസരിക്കാത്ത ഏവനെയും ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ന്യായം വിസ്തരിച്ചു മരണമോ പ്രവാസമോ പിഴയോ തടവോ അവന്നു കല്പിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

²⁷

Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:യെരൂശലേമിലെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തെ അലങ്കരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇങ്ങനെ രാജാവിന്നു തോന്നിക്കയും രാജാവിന്റെയും അവന്റെ മന്ത്രിമാരുടെയും രാജാവിന്റെ സകല പ്രഭുവീരന്മാരുടെയും ദയ എനിക്കു ലഭിക്കുമാറാക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ.

²⁸

And has extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.ഇങ്ങനെ എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ എനിക്കു അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നതിനാൽ ഞാൻ ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരേണ്ടതിന്നു യിസ്രായേലിലെ ചില തലവന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി.

Ezra 8

These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.അർത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു ബാബേലിൽനിന്നു എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോന്ന പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരും അവരുടെ വംശാവലികളുമാവിതു:

Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershom: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.ഫീനെഹാസിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ഗേർശോം; ഈഥാമാരിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ദാനീയേൽ; ദാവീദിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ഹത്തൂശ്;

Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.ശെഖന്യാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ പറോശിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ സെഖർയ്യാവും അവനോടുകൂടെ വംശാവലിയിൽ എഴുതിയിരുന്ന നൂറ്റമ്പതു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

Of the sons of Pahathmoab; Elihoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.പഹത്ത്-മോവാബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ സെരഹ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ എല്യെഹോവേനായിയും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുനൂറു പുരുഷന്മാരും,

Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.ശെഖന്യാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ യഹസീയേലിന്റെ മകനും അവനോടുകൂടെ മുന്നൂറു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.ആദീന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ യോനാഥാന്റെ മകനായ ഏബെദും അവനോടു കൂടെ അമ്പതു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.ഏലാമിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ അഥല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാവും അവനോടുകൂടെ എഴുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him fourscore males.ശെഫത്യാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ മീഖായേലിന്റെ മകനായ സെബദ്യാവും അവനോടുകൂടെ എണ്പതു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.യോബാവിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ യെഹീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ ഓബദ്യാവും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുനൂറ്റിപതിനെട്ടു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him an hundred and threescore males.ശെലോമീത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ യോസിഫ്യാവിന്റെ മകനും അവനോടുകൂടെ നൂറ്ററുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males.ബേബായിയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ബേബായിയുടെ മകനായ സെഖർയ്യാവും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുപത്തെട്ടു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.അസാദിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ഹക്കാതാന്റെ മകനായ യോഹാനാനും അവനോടുകൂടെ നൂറ്റിപ്പത്തു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.അദോനീക്കാമിന്റെ ഒടുവിലത്തെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ എലീഫേലെത്ത്, യെയീയേൽ, ശെമയ്യാവു എന്നിവരും അവരോടുകൂടെ അറുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.ബിഗ്വായുടെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ഊഥായിയും സബൂദും അവരോടുകൂടെ എഴുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരും.

And I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.ഇവരെ ഞാൻ അഹവായിലേക്കു ഒഴുകുന്ന ആറ്റിന്നരികെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി; അവിടെ ഞങ്ങൾ മൂന്നു ദിവസം പാളയമടിച്ചു പാർത്തു; ഞാൻ ജനത്തെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും പരിശോധിച്ചുനോക്കിയപ്പോൾ ലേവ്യരിൽ ആരെയും അവിടെ കണ്ടില്ല.

Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ എലീയേസെർ, അരീയേൽ, ശെമയ്യാവു, എൽനാഥാൻ, യാരീബ്, എൽനാഥാൻ നാഥാൻ, സെഖർയ്യാവു, മെശുല്ലാം എന്നീ തലവന്മാരെയും യോയാരീബ്, എൽനാഥാൻ എന്ന ഉപാദ്ധ്യായന്മാരെയും വിളിപ്പിച്ചു,

And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.കാസിഫ്യാ എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തിലെ പ്രധാനിയായ ഇദ്ദോവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിന്നു ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാരെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന്നു അവർ കാസിഫ്യയിലെ ഇദ്ദോവോടും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരായ ദൈവാലയദാസന്മാരോടും പറയേണ്ടുന്ന വാക്കുകളെ അവർക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൈ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നതിനാൽ അവർ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മകനായ ലേവിയുടെ മകനായ മഹ്ളിയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ വിവേകമുള്ളോരു പുരുഷൻ ശേരബ്യാവു, അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ, സഹോദരന്മാർ

And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;ഇങ്ങനെ പതിനെട്ടുപേരെയും മെരാരിപുത്രന്മാരിൽ, ഹശബ്യാവു അവനോടുകൂടെ യെശയ്യാവു, അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ, സഹോദരന്മാർ

Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.ഇങ്ങനെ ഇരുപതുപേരെയും ദാവീദും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും ലേവ്യർക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷക്കാരായികൊടുത്ത ദൈവാലയദാസന്മാരിൽ ഇരുനൂറ്റിരുപതുപേരേയും ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ കൂട്ടി കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവരുടെ പേരൊക്കെയും കുറിച്ചുവെച്ചിരുന്നു.

Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.അനന്തരം ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ ഞങ്ങളെത്തന്നേ താഴ്ത്തേണ്ടതിന്നും ഞങ്ങൾക്കും ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികൾക്കും ഞങ്ങളുടെ സകലസമ്പത്തിന്നും വേണ്ടി ശുഭയാത്ര അവനോടു യാചിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഞാൻ അവിടെ അഹവാആറ്റിന്റെ അരികെവെച്ചു ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധപ്പെടുത്തി.

For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൈ അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്ന ഏവർക്കും അനുകൂലമായും അവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ഏവർക്കും പ്രതികൂലമായും ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ രാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു വഴിയിൽ ശത്രുവിന്റെ നേരെ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തുണയായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു പടയാളികളെയും കുതിരച്ചേവകരെയും രാജാവിനോടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ലജ്ജിച്ചിരുന്നു.

So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was implored of us.അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങൾ ഉപവസിച്ചു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തോടു അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു; അവൻ ഞങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാർത്ഥന കേട്ടു.

Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,പിന്നെ ഞാൻ പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ പ്രധാനികളിൽവെച്ചു ശേരെബ്യാവെയും ഹശബ്യാവെയും അവരോടുകൂടെ അവരുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരിൽ പത്തുപേരെയും ഇങ്ങനെ പന്ത്രണ്ടുപേരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:രാജാവും അവന്റെ മന്ത്രിമാരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും അവിടെയുള്ള യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയംവകെക്കു അർപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന വഴിപാടായ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും ഉപകരണങ്ങളും ഞാൻ അവർക്കു തൂക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;ഞാൻ അവരുടെ കയ്യിൽ അറുനൂറ്റമ്പതു താലന്ത് വെള്ളിയും നൂറു താലന്ത് വെള്ളിയുപകരണങ്ങളും നൂറു താലന്ത് പൊന്നും

Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.ആയിരം തങ്കക്കാശു വിലയുള്ള ഇരുപതു പൊൻ പാത്രങ്ങളും പൊന്നുപോലെ വിലയുള്ളതായി മിനുക്കിയ നല്ല താമ്രംകൊണ്ടുള്ള രണ്ടു പാത്രങ്ങളും തൂക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു.

And I said unto them, All of you are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.ഞാൻ അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിശുദ്ധന്മാരാകുന്നു; ഉപകരണങ്ങളും വിശുദ്ധം തന്നേ; വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു ഔദാര്യ ദാനമാകുന്നു;

Watch all of you, and keep them, until all of you weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.നിങ്ങൾ അവയെ യെരൂശലേമിൽ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ അറകളിൽ പുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെയും ലേവ്യരുടെയും പ്രധാനികൾക്കും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർക്കും തൂക്കി ഏല്പിക്കുംവരെ ജാഗരിച്ചു കാത്തുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.അങ്ങനെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും ആ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും ഉപകരണങ്ങളും യെരൂശലേമിൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകേണ്ടതിന്നു തൂക്കപ്രകാരം ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങി.

Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.യെരൂശലേമിന്നു പോകുവാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ ഒന്നാം മാസം പന്ത്രണ്ടാം തിയ്യതി അഹവാ ആറ്റിങ്കൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കൈ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു അനുകൂലമായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും വഴിയിൽ പതിയിരിക്കുന്നവന്റെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നും ഞങ്ങളെ കാത്തു രക്ഷിച്ചു.

And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങൾ യെരൂശലേമിൽ എത്തി അവിടെ മൂന്നു ദിവസം പാർത്തു.

Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;നാലാം ദിവസം ഞങ്ങൾ ആ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും ഉപകരണങ്ങളും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിൽ ഊരീയാപുരോഹിതന്റെ മകനായ മെരേമോത്തിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ തൂക്കിക്കൊടുത്തു; അവനോടു കൂടെ ഫീനെഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ എലെയാസാരും അവരോടുകൂടെ യേശുവയുടെ മകനായ യോസാബാദ്, ബിന്നൂവിയുടെ മകനായ നോവദ്യാവു എന്നീ ലേവ്യരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.എല്ലാം എണ്ണപ്രകാരവും തൂക്കപ്രകാരവും കൊടുത്തു; തൂക്കം ഒക്കെയും ആ സമയം തന്നേ എഴുതിവെച്ചു.

Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.പ്രവാസത്തിൽനിന്നു മടങ്ങിവന്ന പ്രവാസികൾ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങൾക്കായിട്ടു എല്ലാ യിസ്രായേലിന്നും വേണ്ടി പന്ത്രണ്ടു കാളയെയും തൊണ്ണൂറ്റാറു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും എഴുപത്തേഴു കുഞ്ഞാടിനെയും പാപയാഗത്തിന്നായിട്ടു പന്ത്രണ്ടു വെള്ളാട്ടുകൊറ്റനെയും അർപ്പിച്ചു; അതൊക്കെയും യഹോവെക്കു ഹോമയാഗം ആയിരുന്നു.

And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.അവർ രാജാവിന്റെ ആജ്ഞാപത്രങ്ങൾ നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ രാജാവിന്റെ സംസ്ഥാനപതിമാർക്കും നാടുവാഴികൾക്കും കൊടുത്തു: അവർ ജനത്തിന്നും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയത്തിന്നും വേണ്ടുന്ന സഹായം ചെയ്തു.

Ezra 9

Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.അതിന്റെശേഷം പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു: യിസ്രായേൽജനവും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും ദേശനിവാസികളോടു വേർപെടാതെ കനാന്യർ, ഹിത്യർ, പെരിസ്യർ, യെബൂസ്യർ, അമ്മോന്യർ, മോവാബ്യർ, മിസ്രയീമ്യർ, അമോർയ്യർ എന്നിവരുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛതകളെ ചെയ്തുവരുന്നു.

For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.അവരുടെ പുത്രിമാരെ അവർ തങ്ങൾക്കും തങ്ങളുടെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കും ഭാര്യമാരായി എടുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു വിശുദ്ധസന്തതി ദേശനിവാസികളോടു ഇടകലർന്നു പോയി; പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെയും പ്രമാണികളുടെയും കൈ തന്നേ ഈ അകൃത്യത്തിൽ ഒന്നാമതായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.

And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonished.ഈ വർത്തമാനം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എന്റെ വസ്ത്രവും മേലങ്കിയും കീറി എന്റെ തലയിലും താടിയിലുമുള്ള രോമം വലിച്ചു പറിച്ചു സ്തംഭിച്ചു കുത്തിയിരുന്നു.

Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonished until the evening sacrifice.പ്രവാസികളുടെ അകൃത്യംനിമിത്തം യിസ്രായേലിൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനത്തിങ്കൽ വിറെക്കുന്നവരൊക്കെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നുകൂടി; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ സന്ധ്യായാഗംവരെ സ്തംഭിച്ചു കുത്തിയിരുന്നു.

And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God,സന്ധ്യായാഗത്തിന്റെ സമയത്തു ഞാൻ എന്റെ ആത്മതപനം വിട്ടു എഴുന്നേറ്റു കീറിയ വസ്ത്രത്തോടും മേലങ്കിയോടും കൂടെ മുട്ടുകുത്തി എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിങ്കലേക്കു കൈ മലർത്തി പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ മുഖം എന്റെ ദൈവമായ നിങ്കലേക്കു ഉയർത്തുവാൻ ലജ്ജിച്ചു നാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ തലെക്കുമീതെ പെരുകി കവിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ കുറ്റം ആകാശത്തോളം വളർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ കാലംമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞങ്ങൾ വലിയ കുറ്റക്കാരായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾനിമിത്തം ഞങ്ങളും ഞങ്ങളുടെ രാജാക്കന്മാരും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ വിദേശരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ വാളിന്നും പ്രവാസത്തിന്നും കവർച്ചെക്കും അപമാനത്തിന്നും ഏല്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

For we were bondmen; yet our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.ഞങ്ങൾ ദാസന്മാരാകുന്നു സത്യം; എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദാസ്യസ്ഥിതിയിൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവം ഞങ്ങളെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കാതെ, ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയം പണികയും അതിന്റെ ശൂന്യങ്ങളെ നന്നാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ജീവശക്തി നല്കുവാനും യെഹൂദയിലും യെരൂശലേമിലും ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു സങ്കേതം തരുവാനും പാർസിരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്‍ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ദയ ലഭിക്കുമാറാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken your commandments,ഇപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, ഇതിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ എന്തുപകാരം പറയേണ്ടു?

Which you have commanded by your servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which all of you go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.നിങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ ചെല്ലുന്ന ദേശം ദേശനിവാസികളുടെ മലിനതയാലും ഒരു അറ്റംമുതൽ മറ്റെ അറ്റംവരെ അവർ നിറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന മ്ളേച്ഛതയാലും അവരുടെ അശുദ്ധിയാലും മലിനപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശമത്രേ.

Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that all of you may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ശക്തിപ്പെട്ടു ദേശത്തിന്റെ നന്മ അനുഭവിച്ചു അതു എന്നേക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കൾക്കു അവകാശമായി വെച്ചേക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ പുത്രിമാരെ അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കു കൊടുക്കാതെയും അവരുടെ പുത്രിമാരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കു എടുക്കാതെയും അവരുടെ സമാധാനവും നന്മയും ഒരിക്കലും കരുതാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണം എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ പ്രവാചകന്മാർമുഖാന്തരം നീ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത കല്പനകളെ ഞങ്ങൾ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that you our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this;ഇപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്‌പ്രവൃത്തികളും മഹാപാതകവും ഹേതുവായി ഇതെല്ലാം ഞങ്ങളുടെ മേൽ വന്നശേഷം ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം ഞങ്ങളെ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഇങ്ങനെ ഒരു ശേഷിപ്പിനെ തന്നിരിക്കെ

Should we again break your commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? would not you be angry with us till you had consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ കല്പനകളെ വീണ്ടും ലംഘിക്കയും ഈ മ്ളേച്ഛത ചെയ്യുന്ന ജാതികളോടു സംബന്ധം കൂടുകയും ചെയ്യാമോ? ചെയ്താൽ ഒരു ശേഷിപ്പോ തെറ്റി ഒഴിഞ്ഞവരോ ഉണ്ടാകാതവണ്ണം നീ ഞങ്ങളെ മുടിച്ചുകളയുവോളം ഞങ്ങളോടു കോപിക്കയില്ലയോ?

O LORD God of Israel, you are righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before you in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before you because of this.യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നീ നീതിമാൻ; ഞങ്ങളോ ഇന്നുള്ളതു പോലെ തെറ്റി ഒഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു ശേഷിപ്പത്രേ; ഞങ്ങളുടെ പാതകത്തോടുകൂടെ ഇതാ, ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അതു നിമിത്തം നിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നില്പാൻ ആർക്കും കഴിവില്ല.
