And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെരൂശലേമിൽ തന്റെ അരമനയിലേക്കു സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവന്നപ്പോൾ

And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Should you help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon you from before the LORD.ഹനാനിയുടെ മകനായ യേഹൂദർശകൻ അവനെ എതിരേറ്റുചെന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് രാജാവിനോടു: ദുഷ്ടന്നു സഹായം ചെയ്യുന്നതു വിഹിതമോ? യഹോവയെ പകെക്കുന്നവരോടു നീ സ്നേഹം കാണിക്കുന്നുവോ അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയിങ്കൽനിന്നു കോപം നിന്റെമേൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Nevertheless there are good things found in you, in that you have taken away the groves out of the land, and have prepared yours heart to seek God.എങ്കിലും നീ അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെ നീക്കിക്കളകയും ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ മനസ്സുവെക്കയും ചെയ്തതിനാൽ നന്മയും നിന്നിൽ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beersheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the LORD God of their fathers.യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെരൂശലേമിൽ പാർത്തു, ബേർ-ശേബമുതൽ എഫ്രയീംമലനാടുവരെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ വീണ്ടും സഞ്ചരിച്ചു അവരെ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചു വരുത്തി.

And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,അവൻ ദേശത്തു പട്ടണംതോറും യെഹൂദയിലെ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിലൊക്കെയും ന്യായാധിപന്മാരെ നിയമിച്ചു:

And said to the judges, Take heed what all of you do: for all of you judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യുന്നതു സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ മനുഷ്യർക്കല്ല, യഹോവെക്കു വേണ്ടിയത്രേ ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്യുന്നതു; ന്യായപാലനത്തിൽ അവൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.ആകയാൽ യഹോവാഭയം നിങ്ങളിൽ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; സൂക്ഷിച്ചു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ പക്കൽ അന്യായവും മുഖപക്ഷവും കൈക്കൂലി വാങ്ങുന്നതും ഇല്ലല്ലോ.

Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.യെരൂശലേമിലും യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ലേവ്യരിലും പുരോഹിതന്മാരിലും യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരിലും ചിലരെ യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപാലനത്തിന്നായിട്ടും വ്യവഹാരം തീക്കേണ്ടതിന്നായിട്ടും നിയമിച്ചു;

And he charged them, saying, Thus shall all of you do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.അവർ യെരൂശലേമിൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നു. അവൻ അവരോടു കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവാ ഭയത്തോടും വിശ്വസ്തതയോടും ഏകാഗ്രഹൃദയത്തോടും കൂടെ ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം.

And what cause whatsoever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in your cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, all of you shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and all of you shall not trespass.അതതു പട്ടണത്തിൽ പാർക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാർ വിവിധരക്തപാതകങ്ങളെയും ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെയും കല്പനയെയും ചട്ടങ്ങളെയും വിധികളെയും സംബന്ധിച്ചു ഏതൊരു വ്യവഹാരവും നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നാൽ, അവർ യഹോവയോടു അകൃത്യം ചെയ്തിട്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെമേലും നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെമേലും ക്രോധം വരാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അവർക്കു ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിച്ചുകൊടുക്കേണം; നിങ്ങൾ കുറ്റക്കാരാകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തുകൊൾവിൻ.

And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king's matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.അതിന്റെ ശേഷം മോവാബ്യരും അമ്മോന്യരും അവരോടുകൂടെ മെയൂന്യരിൽ ചിലരും യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ നേരെ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു വന്നു.

Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There comes a great multitude against you from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.ചിലർ വന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: വലിയോരു ജനസമൂഹം കടലിന്നക്കരെ നിന്നു, അരാമിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ നേരെ വരുന്നു; ഇതാ അവർ ഏൻ-ഗെദിയെന്ന ഹസസോൻ-താമാരിൽ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു.

And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ താല്പര്യപ്പെട്ടു യെഹൂദയിൽ ഒക്കെയും ഒരു ഉപവാസം പ്രസിദ്ധംചെയ്തു.

And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.യഹോവയോടു സഹായം ചോദിപ്പാൻ യെഹൂദ്യർ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; സകല യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളിലുംനിന്നു അവർ യഹോവയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ വന്നു.

And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ പുതിയ പ്രാകാരത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ യെഹൂദയുടെയും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെയും സഭാമദ്ധ്യേ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

And said, O LORD God of our fathers, are not you God in heaven? and rule not you over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in yours hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand you?ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, നീ സ്വർഗ്ഗസ്ഥനായ ദൈവമല്ലോ; നീ ജാതികളുടെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളെയും ഭരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; ആർക്കും എതിർപ്പാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ശക്തിയും പരാക്രമവും നിനക്കുണ്ടല്ലോ.

Are not you our God, who did drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and gave it to the seed of Abraham your friend for ever?ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, നീ നിന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഈ ദേശത്തിലെ നിവാസികളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു അതു നിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കു ശാശ്വതമായി കൊടുത്തുവല്ലോ.

And they dwelt therein, and have built you a sanctuary therein for your name, saying,അവർ അതിൽ പാർത്തു; ന്യായവിധിയുടെ വാൾ, മഹാമാരി, ക്ഷാമം എന്നിങ്ങിനെയുള്ള വല്ല അനർത്ഥവും ഞങ്ങൾക്കു വരുമ്പോൾ, ഞങ്ങൾ ഈ ആലയത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പിലും നിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിലും നിന്നു--നിന്റെ നാമം ഈ ആലയത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ--ഞങ്ങളുടെ സങ്കടത്തിൽ നിന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കയും നീ കേട്ടു രക്ഷവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

If, when evil comes upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in your presence, (for your name is in this house,) and cry unto you in our affliction, then you will hear and help.അതിൽ തിരുനാമത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി നിനക്കു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരം പണിതു.

And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;യിസ്രായേൽ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു വരുമ്പോൾ അവർ അമ്മോന്യരേയും മോവാബ്യരേയും സേയീർ പർവ്വതക്കാരെയും ആക്രമിപ്പാൻ നീ അനുവാദം കൊടുത്തില്ലല്ലോ; അവർ അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ വിട്ടുമാറി.

Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit.ഇപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, നീ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു കൈവശമാക്കിത്തന്ന നിന്റെ അവകാശത്തിൽനിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ നീക്കിക്കളവാൻ അവർ വന്നു ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രതിഫലം തരുന്നു.

O our God, will you not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon you.ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമേ, നീ അവരെ ന്യായം വിധിക്കയില്ലയോ? ഞങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ വരുന്ന ഈ വലിയ സമൂഹത്തോടെതിർപ്പാൻ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ശക്തിയില്ല; എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു എന്നു അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല; എങ്കിലും ഞങ്ങളുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ നിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.അങ്ങനെ യെഹൂദ്യർ ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളോടും ഭാര്യമാരോടും മക്കളോടും കൂടെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിന്നു.

Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;അപ്പോൾ സഭാമദ്ധ്യേവെച്ചു യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു ആസാഫിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ മത്ഥന്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെയീയേലിന്റെ മകനായ ബെനായാവിന്റെ മകനായ സെഖർയ്യാവിന്റെ മകൻ യഹസീയേൽ എന്ന ഒരു ലേവ്യന്റെ മേൽ വന്നു.

And he said, Hearken all of you, all Judah, and all of you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat, Thus says the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: യെഹൂദ്യർ ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് രാജാവും ആയുള്ളോരേ, കേട്ടുകൊൾവിൻ; യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഈ വലിയ സമൂഹം നിമിത്തം ഭയപ്പെടരുതു, ഭ്രമിക്കയും അരുതു; യുദ്ധം നിങ്ങളുടേതല്ല, ദൈവത്തിന്റെതത്രേ.

Tomorrow go all of you down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and all of you shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.നാളെ അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവിൻ; ഇതാ, അവർ സീസ് കയറ്റത്തിൽകൂടി കയറി വരുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ അവരെ യെരൂവേൽമരുഭൂമിക്കെതിരെ തോട്ടിന്റെ അറ്റത്തുവെച്ചു കാണും.

All of you shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand all of you still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.ഈ പടയിൽ പൊരുതുവാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ആവശ്യം ഇല്ല; യെഹൂദയും യെരൂശലേമും ആയുള്ളോരേ, നിങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിരമായി നിന്നു യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരുത്തുന്ന രക്ഷ കണ്ടുകൊൾവിൻ; ഭയപ്പെടരുതു, ഭ്രമിക്കയും അരുതു; നാളെ അവരുടെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവിൻ; യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു.

And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.അപ്പോൾ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വണങ്ങി; യെഹൂദ്യർ ഒക്കെയും യെരൂശലേം നിവാസികളും യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.കെഹാത്യരും കോരഹ്യരുമായ ലേവ്യർ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ സ്തുതിപ്പാൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു.

And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and all of you inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall all of you be established; believe his prophets, so shall all of you prosper.പിന്നെ അവർ അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തെക്കോവമരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ യഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു: യെഹൂദ്യരും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും ആയുള്ളോരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾപിൻ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയിൽ വിശ്വസിപ്പിൻ; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഉറെച്ചുനില്ക്കും; അവന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരേയും വിശ്വസിപ്പിൻ; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ കൃതാർത്ഥരാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endures for ever.പിന്നെ അവൻ ജനത്തോടു ആലോചിച്ചിട്ടു, വിശുദ്ധാലങ്കാരം ധരിച്ചു സൈന്യത്തിന്നു മുമ്പിൽ നടന്നുകൊണ്ടു വാഴ്ത്തുവാനും: യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിപ്പിൻ, അവന്റെ ദയ എന്നേക്കും ഉള്ളതല്ലോ എന്നു ചൊല്ലുവാനും യഹോവെക്കു സംഗീതക്കാരെ നിയമിച്ചു.

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.അവർ പാടി സ്തുതിച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ: യഹോവ യെഹൂദെക്കു വിരോധമായി വന്ന അമ്മോന്യരുടെയും മോവാബ്യരുടെയും സേയീർപർവ്വതക്കാരുടെയും നേരെ പതിയിരിപ്പുകാരെ വരുത്തി; അങ്ങനെ അവർ തോറ്റുപോയി.

For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.അമ്മോന്യരും മോവാബ്യരും സേയീർപർവ്വതനിവാസികളോടു എതിർത്തു അവരെ നിർമ്മൂലമാക്കി നശിപ്പിച്ചു; സേയീർനിവാസികളെ സംഹരിച്ചശേഷം അവർ അന്യോന്യം നശിപ്പിച്ചു.

And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.യെഹൂദ്യർ മരുഭൂമിയിലെ കാവൽ ഗോപുരത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവർ പുരുഷാരത്തെ നോക്കി, അവർ നിലത്തു ശവങ്ങളായി കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; ഒരുത്തനും ചാടിപ്പോയിരുന്നില്ല.

And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.യെഹോശാഫാത്തും അവന്റെ പടജ്ജനവും അവരെ കൊള്ളയിടുവാൻ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അനവധി സമ്പത്തും വസ്ത്രവും വിശേഷവസ്തുക്കളും കണ്ടെത്തി; തങ്ങൾക്കു ചുമപ്പാൻ കഴിയുന്നതിലധികം ഊരി എടുത്തു; കൊള്ള അധികമുണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ മൂന്നു ദിവസം കൊള്ളയിട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day.നാലാം ദിവസം അവർ ബെരാഖാതാഴ്വരയിൽ ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂടി; അവർ അവിടെ യഹോവെക്കു സ്തോത്രം ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ഇന്നുവരെ ബെരാഖാതാഴ്വര എന്നു പേർ പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies.യഹോവ അവർക്കു ശത്രുക്കളുടെമേൽ ജയസന്തോഷം നില്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു യെഹൂദ്യരും യെരൂശലേമ്യരും എല്ലാം മുമ്പിൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്തുമായി സന്തോഷത്തോടെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു;

And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD.അവർ വീണകളോടും കിന്നരങ്ങളോടും കാഹളങ്ങളോടുംകൂടെ യെരൂശലേമിൽ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു.

²⁹

And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel.യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളോടു യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭീതി ആ ദേശങ്ങളിലെ സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളിന്മേലും വന്നു.

So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.ഇങ്ങനെ അവന്റെ ദൈവം ചുറ്റും വിശ്രമം നല്കിയതുകൊണ്ടു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ രാജ്യം സ്വസ്ഥമായിരുന്നു.

And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യെഹൂദയിൽ വാണു; വാണുതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചുവയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അസൂബാ എന്നു പേർ; അവൾ ശിൽഹിയുടെ മകൾ ആയിരുന്നു.

And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and departed not from it, doing that which was right in the sight of the LORD.അവൻ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ വഴിയിൽ നടന്നു അതു വിട്ടുമാറാതെ യഹോവെക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

Nevertheless the high places were not taken away: for as yet the people had not prepared their hearts unto the God of their fathers.എങ്കിലും പൂജാഗിരികൾക്കു നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം തങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിച്ചതുമില്ല.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Jehu the son of Hanani, who is mentioned in the book of the kings of Israel.യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങൾ ആദ്യാവസാനം യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ ചേർത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ഹനാനിയുടെ മകനായ യെഹൂവിന്റെ വൃത്താന്തത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly:അതിന്റെശേഷം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തു. അവൻ മഹാദുഷ്‌പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരനായിരുന്നു.

And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish: and they made the ships in Eziongaber.അവൻ തർശീശിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പാൻ കപ്പലുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതിൽ അവനോടു യോജിച്ചു; അവർ എസ്യോൻ-ഗേബെരിൽവെച്ചു കപ്പലുകളുണ്ടാക്കി.

Then Eliezer the son of Dodavah of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, the LORD has broken your works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.എന്നാൽ മാരേശക്കാരനായ ദോദാവയുടെ മകൻ എലീയേസെർ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി പ്രവചിച്ചു: നീ അഹസ്യാവോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിന്റെ പണികളെ ഉടെച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. കപ്പലുകൾ തർശീശിലേക്കു ഓടുവാൻ കഴിയാതെ ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയി.

Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his position.യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാം അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.അവന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായി അസർയ്യാവു, യെഹീയേൽ, സെഖർയ്യാവു, അസർയ്യാവു, മീഖായേൽ, ശെഫത്യാവു എന്നീ സഹോദരന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഇവരെല്ലാവരും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ.

Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.യെഹോരാം തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ രാജത്വം ഏറ്റു തന്നേത്താൽ ബലപ്പെടുത്തിയശേഷം തന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും യിസ്രായേൽപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരിൽ പലരെയും വാൾകൊണ്ടു കൊന്നു.

Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.യെഹോരാം വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ എട്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴിയിൽ നടന്നു; ആഹാബിന്റെ മകൾ അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായിരുന്നുവല്ലോ; അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

Nevertheless the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.എന്നാൽ യഹോവ ദാവീദിനോടു ചെയ്തിരുന്ന നിയമംനിമിത്തവും അവന്നും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കും ഒരു ദീപം എല്ലായ്പോഴും കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കനിമിത്തവും ദാവീദ്ഗൃഹത്തെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ അവന്നു മനസ്സില്ലായിരുന്നു.

In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.അവന്റെ കാലത്തു എദോം യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചു തങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെ വാഴിച്ചു.

Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and stroke the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.യെഹോരാം തന്റെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടും സകലരഥങ്ങളോടുംകൂടെ ചെന്നു രാത്രിയിൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്നെ വളഞ്ഞിരുന്ന എദോമ്യരെയും തേരാളികളെയും തോല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.എന്നാൽ എദോം ഇന്നുവരെ യെഹൂദയുടെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചുനില്ക്കുന്നു; അവൻ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ആ കാലത്തു തന്നേ ലിബ്നയും അവന്റെ മേലധികാരത്തോടു മത്സരിച്ചു.

Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.അവൻ യെഹൂദാപർവ്വതങ്ങളിൽ പൂജാഗിരികളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി; യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളെ പരസംഗം ചെയ്യുമാറാക്കി, യെഹൂദയെ തെറ്റിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the LORD God of David your father, Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,അവന്നു എലീയാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പക്കൽനിന്നു ഒരു എഴുത്തു വന്നതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നിന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നീ നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ വഴികളിലും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആസയുടെ വഴികളിലും നടക്കാതെ

But have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also have slain your brethren of your father's house, which were better than yourself:യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കയും ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ പരസംഗംപോലെ യെഹൂദയെയും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളെയും പരസംഗം ചെയ്യുമാറാക്കുകയും നിന്നെക്കാൾ നല്ലവരായ നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിലുള്ള നിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു

Behold, with a great plague will the LORD strike your people, and your children, and your wives, and all your goods:യഹോവ നിന്റെ ജനത്തെയും നിന്റെ മക്കളെയും നിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും നിന്റെ സകലവസ്തുവകകളെയും മഹാബാധകൊണ്ടു ബാധിക്കും.

And you shall have great sickness by disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.നിനക്കോ ദീനത്താൽ നിന്റെ കുടൽ കാലക്രമേണ പുറത്തു ചാടുംവരെ കുടലിൽ വ്യാധിപിടിച്ചു കഠിനദീനമുണ്ടാകും.

Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:യഹോവ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെയും കൂശ്യരുടെയും സമീപത്തുള്ള അരബികളുടെയും മനസ്സു യെഹോരാമിന്റെ നേരെ ഉണർത്തി;

And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was not a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.അവർ യെഹൂദയിലേക്കു വന്നു അതിനെ ആക്രമിച്ചു രാജധാനിയിൽ കണ്ട സകലവസ്തുവകകളെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരെയും അപഹരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ഇളയമകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസല്ലാതെ ഒരു മകനും അവന്നു ശേഷിച്ചില്ല.

And after all this the LORD stroke him in his bowels with an incurable disease.ഇതെല്ലാം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം യഹോവ അവനെ കുടലിൽ പൊറുക്കാത്ത വ്യാധികൊണ്ടു ബാധിച്ചു.

¹⁹

And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.കാലക്രമേണ രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു ദീനത്താൽ അവന്റെ കുടൽ പുറത്തുചാടി അവൻ കഠിനവ്യാധിയാൽ മരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ ജനം അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കു കഴിച്ച ദഹനംപോലെ അവന്നു വേണ്ടി ദഹനം കഴിച്ചില്ല.

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Nevertheless they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchers of the kings.അവൻ വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു വയസ്സാന്നയിരുന്നു; അവൻ എട്ടു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു ആർക്കും ഇഷ്ടനാകാതെ കഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി; അവനെ ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അടക്കംചെയ്തു, രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ കല്ലറകളിൽ അല്ലതാനും.
