Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power.ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗോത്രത്തിൽ കീശ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു ധനികൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ബെന്യാമീന്യനായ അഫീഹിന്റെ മകനായ ബെഖോറത്തിന്റെ മകനായ സെറോറിന്റെ മകനായ അബീയേലിന്റെ മകൻ ആയിരുന്നു.

And the asses of Kish Saul's father were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, Take now one of the servants with you, and arise, go seek the asses.ശൌലിന്റെ അപ്പനായ കീശിന്റെ കഴുതകൾ കാണാതെപോയിരുന്നു. കീശ് തന്റെ മകനായ ശൌലിനോടു: നീ ഒരു ഭൃത്യനെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു കഴുതകളെ അന്വേഷിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.അവൻ എഫ്രയീംമലനാട്ടിലും ശാലീശാദേശത്തുംകൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു; അവയെ കണ്ടില്ല; അവർ ശാലീംദേശത്തുകൂടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു; അവിടെയും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ബെന്യാമീൻ ദേശത്തുകൂടിയും സഞ്ചരിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും കണ്ടു കിട്ടിയില്ല.

And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us.സൂഫ് ദേശത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ശൌൽ കൂടെയുള്ള ഭൃത്യനോടു: വരിക, നമുക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകാം; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അപ്പൻ കഴുതകളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചിന്ത വിട്ടു നമ്മെക്കുറിച്ചു വിഷാദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he says comes surely to pass: now let us go thither; possibly he can show us our way that we should go.അതിന്നു അവൻ: ഈ പട്ടണത്തിൽ ഒരു ദൈവപുരുഷൻ ഉണ്ടു; അവൻ മാന്യൻ ആകുന്നു; അവൻ പറയുന്നതെല്ലാം ഒത്തുവരുന്നു; നമുക്കു അവിടെ പോകാം; നാം പോകുവാനുള്ള വഴി അവൻ പക്ഷേ പറഞ്ഞുതരും എന്നു അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?ശൌൽ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനോടു: നാം പോകുന്നു എങ്കിൽ ആ പുരുഷന്നു എന്താകുന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോകേണ്ടതു? നമ്മുടെ ഭാണ്ഡത്തിലെ അപ്പം തീർന്നുപോയല്ലോ; ദൈവപുരുഷന്നു കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലുവാൻ ഒരു സമ്മാനവും ഇല്ലല്ലോ; നമുക്കു എന്തുള്ളു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.ഭൃത്യൻ ശൌലിനോടു: എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ കാൽശേക്കെൽ വെള്ളിയുണ്ടു; ഇതു ഞാൻ ദൈവപുരുഷന്നു കൊടുക്കാം; അവൻ നമുക്കു വഴി പറഞ്ഞുതരും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.--

(in time past in Israel, when a man went to enquire of God, thus he spoke, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a Prophet was in time past called a Seer.)പണ്ടു യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ ദൈവത്തോടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ പോകുമ്പോൾ: വരുവിൻ; നാം ദർശകന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോക എന്നു പറയും; ഇപ്പോൾ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു പറയുന്നവനെ അന്നു ദർശകൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുവന്നു.--

Then said Saul to his servant, Well said; come, let us go. So they went unto the city where the man of God was.ശൌൽ ഭൃത്യനോടു: നല്ലതു; വരിക, നമുക്കു പോകാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ ദൈവപുരുഷൻ താമസിച്ചുവന്ന പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.

And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said unto them, Is the seer here?അവർ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കുള്ള കയറ്റം കയറിച്ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ വെള്ളംകോരുവാൻ പോകുന്ന ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളെ കണ്ടു അവരോടു: ദർശകൻ ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he is before you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for there is a sacrifice of the people to day in the high place:അവർ അവരോടു: ഉണ്ടു; അതാ, നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ; വേഗം ചെല്ലുവിൻ; ഇന്നു പൂജാഗിരിയിൽ ജനത്തിന്റെ വക ഒരു യാഗം ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ഇന്നു പട്ടണത്തിൽ വന്നിട്ടുണ്ടു.

As soon as all of you be come into the city, all of you shall immediately find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he comes, because he does bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time all of you shall find him.നിങ്ങൾ പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടന്ന ഉടനെ അവൻ പൂജാഗിരിയിൽ ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്നു പോകുമ്മുമ്പെ നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ കാണേണം; അവൻ യാഗത്തെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതാകകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ചെല്ലുവോളം ജനം ഭക്ഷിക്കയില്ല; അതിന്റെ ശേഷം മാത്രമേ ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ ഭക്ഷിക്കയുള്ളു; വേഗം ചെല്ലുവിൻ; ഇപ്പോൾ അവനെ കാണാം എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And they went up into the city: and when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out against them, in order to go up to the high place.അങ്ങനെ അവർ പട്ടണത്തിൽ ചെന്നു; പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടന്നപ്പോൾ ഇതാ, ശമൂവേൽ പൂജാഗിരിക്കു പോകുവാനായി അവരുടെ നേരെ വരുന്നു.

Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,എന്നാൽ ശൌൽ വരുന്നതിന്നു ഒരു ദിവസം മുമ്പെ യഹോവ അതു ശമൂവേലിന്നു വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി:

Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry has come unto me.നാളെ ഇന്നേരത്തു ബെന്യാമീൻ ദേശക്കാരനായ ഒരാളെ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കും; എന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഭരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അവനെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്യേണം; അവൻ എന്റെ ജനത്തെ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കും. എന്റെ ജനത്തിന്റെ നിലവിളി എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ അവരെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.

And when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said unto him, Behold the man whom I spoke to you of! this same shall reign over my people.ശമൂവേൽ ശൌലിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ യഹോവ അവനോടു: ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ആൾ ഇതാ; ഇവനാകുന്നു എന്റെ ജനത്തെ ഭരിപ്പാനുള്ളവൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray you, where the seer's house is.അന്നേരം ശൌൽ പടിവാതിൽക്കൽ ശമൂവേലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തി: ദർശകന്റെ വീടു എവിടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതരേണമേ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for all of you shall eat with me to day, and tomorrow I will let you go, and will tell you all that is in yours heart.ശമൂവേൽ ശൌലിനോടു: ദർശകൻ ഞാൻ തന്നേ; എന്റെ കൂടെ പൂജാഗിരിക്കു പോരുവിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ ഇന്നു എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കേണം; നാളെ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ യാത്രയയക്കാം; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഉള്ളതൊക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞുതരാം.

And as for yours asses that were lost three days ago, set not your mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on you, and on all your father's house?മൂന്നു ദിവസം മുമ്പെ കാണാതെപോയ കഴുതകളെക്കുറിച്ചു ചിന്തിക്കേണ്ടാ; അവയെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്നാൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ആഗ്രഹമൊക്കെയും ആരുടെമേൽ? നിന്റെമേലും നിന്റെ സർവ്വപിതൃഭവനത്തിന്മേലും അല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speak you so to me?അതിന്നു ശൌൽ: ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേൽഗോത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും ചെറുതായ ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗോത്രത്തിലുള്ളവനും എന്റെ കുടുംബം ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗോത്രത്തിലെ സകല കുടുംബങ്ങളിലുംവെച്ചു ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയതുമായിരിക്കെ നീ ഇങ്ങനെ എന്നോടു പറയുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the parlour, and made them sit in the chiefest place among them that were bidden, which were about thirty persons.പിന്നെ ശമൂവേൽ ശൌലിനെയും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യനെയും കൂട്ടി വിരുന്നുശാലയിൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവർക്കു പ്രധാനസ്ഥലം കൊടുത്തു; ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ ഏകദേശം മുപ്പതുപേർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And Samuel said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave you, of which I said unto you, Set it by you.ശമൂവേൽ വെപ്പുകാരനോടു: നിന്റെ പക്കൽ വെച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ഞാൻ തന്നിട്ടുള്ള ഓഹരി കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold that which is left! set it before you, and eat: for unto this time has it been kept for you since I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day.വെപ്പുകാരൻ കൈക്കുറകും അതിന്മേൽ ഉള്ളതും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽവെച്ചു. നിനക്കായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചു വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു ഇതാ; തിന്നുകൊൾക; ഞാൻ ഉത്സവത്തിന്നു ആളുകളെ ക്ഷണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു ഇതു ഉത്സവത്തിന്നു വേണ്ടി നിനക്കായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശമൂവേൽ പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ശൌൽ അന്നു ശമൂവേലിനോടു കൂടെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

And when they were come down from the high place into the city, Samuel communed with Saul upon the top of the house.അവർ പൂജാഗിരിയിൽനിന്നു പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിവന്നശേഷം അവൻ വീട്ടിന്റെ മുകളിൽ വെച്ചു ശൌലുമായി സംസാരിച്ചു.

And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send you away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.അവർ അതികാലത്തു അരുണോദയത്തിങ്കൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റു; ശമൂവേൽ മുകളിൽനിന്നു ശൌലിനെ വിളിച്ചു: എഴുന്നേൽക്ക, ഞാൻ നിന്നെ യാത്ര അയക്കാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ശൌൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റു, അവർ രണ്ടുപേരും, അവനും ശമൂവേലും തന്നേ, വെളിയിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on), but stand you still a while, that I may show you the word of God.പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ അറ്റത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ശമൂവേൽ ശൌലിനോടു: ഭൃത്യൻ മുമ്പെ കടന്നു പോകുവാൻ പറക; - അവൻ കടന്നുപോയി;-- ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അരുളപ്പാടു അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ അല്പം നിൽക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1 Samuel 10

Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD has anointed you to be captain over his inheritance?അപ്പോൾ ശമൂവേൽ തൈലപാത്രം എടുത്തു അവന്റെ തലയിൽ ഒഴിച്ചു അവനെ ചുംബിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: യഹോവ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തിന്നു പ്രഭുവായി നിന്നെ അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

When you are departed from me to day, then you shall find two men by Rachel's tomb in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will say unto you, The asses which you went to seek are found: and, lo, your father has left the care of the asses, and sorrows for you, saying, What shall I do for my son?നീ ഇന്നു എന്നെ പിരിഞ്ഞുപോകുമ്പോൾ ബെന്യാമീന്റെ അതിരിങ്കലെ സെൽസഹിൽ റാഹേലിന്റെ കല്ലറെക്കരികെവെച്ചു രണ്ടാളെ കാണും; നീ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോന്ന കഴുതകളെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ അപ്പൻ കഴുതയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ചിന്ത വിട്ടു: എന്റെ മകന്നുവേണ്ടി ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു വിഷാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവർ നിന്നോടു പറയും.

Then shall you go on forward from thence, and you shall come to the plain of Tabor, and there shall meet you three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine:അവിടെനിന്നു നീ മുമ്പോട്ടു ചെന്നു താബോരിലെ കരുവേലകത്തിന്നരികെ എത്തുമ്പോൾ ഒരുത്തൻ മൂന്നു ആട്ടിൻ കുട്ടിയെയും വേറൊരുത്തൻ മൂന്നു അപ്പവും വേറൊരുത്തൻ ഒരു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും ചുമന്നുകൊണ്ടു ഇങ്ങനെ മൂന്നു പുരുഷന്മാർ ബേഥേലിൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പോകുന്നതായി നിനക്കു എതിർപെടും.

And they will salute you, and give you two loaves of bread; which you shall receive of their hands.അവർ നിന്നോടു കുശലം ചോദിക്കും; നിനക്കു രണ്ടു അപ്പവും തരും; നീ അതു അവരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളേണം.

After that you shall come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall come to pass, when you are come thither to the city, that you shall meet a company of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a timbrel, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they shall prophesy:അതിന്റെ ശേഷം നീ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ പട്ടാളം ഉള്ള ദൈവഗിരിക്കു എത്തും; അവിടെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടക്കുമ്പോൾ മുമ്പിൽ വീണ, തപ്പു, കുഴൽ, കിന്നരം എന്നിവയോടുകൂടെ പൂജാഗിരിയിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണത്തെ കാണും; അവർ പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.

And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be turned into another man.യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു ശക്തിയോടെ നിന്റെമേൽ വന്നിട്ടു നീയും അവരോടുകൂടെ പ്രവചിക്കയും ആൾ മാറിയതുപോലെ ആയ്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യും.

And let it be, when these signs are come unto you, that you do as occasion serve you; for God is with you.ഈ അടയാളങ്ങൾ നിനക്കു സംഭവിക്കുമ്പോൾ യുക്തമെന്നു തോന്നുന്നതു ചെയ്ക; ദൈവം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു.

And you shall go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto you, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shall you tarry, till I come to you, and show you what you shall do.എന്നാൽ നീ എനിക്കു മുമ്പെ ഗില്ഗാലിലേക്കു പോകേണം; ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും കഴിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരും; ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു നീ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതെന്തെന്നു പറഞ്ഞുതരുവോളം ഏഴു ദിവസം അവിടെ കാത്തിരിക്കേണം.

And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.ഇങ്ങനെ അവൻ ശമൂവേലിനെ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ദൈവം അവന്നു വേറൊരു ഹൃദയംകൊടുത്തു; ആ അടയാളങ്ങളെല്ലാം അന്നു തന്നേ സംഭവിച്ചു.

And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.അവർ അവിടെ ഗിരിയിങ്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഒരു പ്രവാചകഗണം ഇതാ, അവന്നെതിരെ വരുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആത്മാവു ശക്തിയോടെ അവന്റെമേൽ വന്നു; അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ പ്രവചിച്ചു.

And it came to pass, when all that knew him in time past saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that has come unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?അവനെ മുമ്പെ അറിഞ്ഞവർ ഒക്കെയും അവൻ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: കീശിന്റെ മകന്നു എന്തു സംഭവിച്ചു? ശൌലും പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ ആയോ എന്നു ജനം തമ്മിൽ തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

And one of the same place answered and said, But who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets?അതിന്നു അവിടത്തുകാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ: ആരാകുന്നു അവരുടെ ഗുരുനാഥൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ആകയാൽ ശൌലും ഉണ്ടോ പ്രവാചകഗണത്തിൽ എന്നുള്ളതു പഴഞ്ചൊല്ലായി തീർന്നു.

And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.അവൻ പ്രവചിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം ഗിബെയയിൽ എത്തി.

And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Where went all of you? And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray you, what Samuel said unto you.ശമൂവേൽ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്നെ അറിയിക്കേണം എന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ ഇളയപ്പൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the asses were found. And said unto the children of Israel, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you:യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിനെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ച സകലരാജ്യക്കാരുടെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നും നിങ്ങളെ വിടുവിച്ചു.

And all of you have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and all of you have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. And Samuel said to all the people, See all of you him whom the LORD has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. 1 Samuel 11

And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What disturbs the people that they weep? And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever comes not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.അവൻ ബേസെക്കിൽവെച്ചു അവരെ എണ്ണി; യിസ്രായേല്യർ മൂന്നു ലക്ഷവും യെഹൂദ്യർ മുപ്പതിനായിരവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall all of you say unto the men of Jabeshgilead, Tomorrow, by that time the sun be hot, all of you shall have help. Therefore the men of Jabesh said, Tomorrow we will come out unto you, and all of you shall do with us all that seems good unto you.പിന്നെ യാബേശ്യർ: നാളെ ഞങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഇറങ്ങിവരും; നിങ്ങൾക്കു ബോധിച്ചതൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞയച്ചു.

And it was so on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.പിറ്റെന്നാൾ ശൌൽ ജനത്തെ മൂന്നു കൂട്ടമായി വിഭാഗിച്ചു; അവർ പ്രഭാതയാമത്തിൽ പാളയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലേക്കു ചെന്നു വെയിൽ മൂക്കുംവരെ അമ്മോന്യരെ സംഹരിച്ചു; ശേഷിച്ചവരോ രണ്ടു പേർ ഒന്നിച്ചിരിക്കാതവണ്ണം ചിതറിപ്പോയി.

And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.അനന്തരം ജനം ശമൂവേലിനോടു: ശൌൽ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു രാജാവായിരിക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു ആർ? അവരെ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരേണം; ഞങ്ങൾ അവരെ കൊന്നുകളയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: in order to day the LORD has wrought salvation in Israel.അതിന്നു ശൌൽ: ഇന്നു ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെയും കൊല്ലരുതു; ഇന്നു യഹോവ യസ്രായേലിന്നു രക്ഷ വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.പിന്നെ ശമൂവേൽ ജനത്തോടു: വരുവിൻ; നാം ഗില്ഗാലിൽ ചെന്നു, അവിടെവെച്ചു രാജത്വം പുതുക്കുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.അങ്ങനെ ജനമെല്ലാം ഗില്ഗാലിൽ ചെന്നു; അവർ ശൌലിനെ ഗില്ഗാലിൽ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽവെച്ചു രാജാവാക്കി. അവർ അവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങൾ കഴിച്ചു; ശൌലും യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ഏറ്റവും സന്തോഷിച്ചു.

1 Samuel 12

And Samuel said unto all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened unto your voice in all that all of you said unto me, and have made a king over you.അനന്തരം ശമൂവേൽ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതിൽ ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു, നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു രാജാവിനെയും വാഴിച്ചുതന്നു.

And now, behold, the king walks before you: and I am old and grayheaded; and, behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day.ഇപ്പോൾ രാജാവു നിങ്ങളുടെ നായകനായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാനോ വൃദ്ധനും നരച്ചവനുമായി; എന്റെ മക്കൾ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടു; എന്റെ ബാല്യം മുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നായകനായിരുന്നു.

And they said, You have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken ought of any man's hand.അതിന്നു അവർ: നീ ഞങ്ങളെ ചതിക്കയോ പീഡിപ്പിക്കയോ യാതൊരുത്തന്റെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വല്ലതും അപഹരിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said unto them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that all of you have not found ought in my hand. And Samuel said unto the people, It is the LORD that advanced Moses and Aaron, and that brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.അപ്പോൾ ശമൂവേൽ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: മോശെയെയും അഹരോനെയും കല്പിച്ചാക്കുകയും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവരികയും ചെയ്തവൻ യഹോവ തന്നേ.

Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.ആകയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഒത്തുനില്പിൻ; യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കും ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള സകലനീതികളെയും കുറിച്ചു ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ നിങ്ങളോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കും.

If all of you will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both all of you and also the king that reigns over you continue following the LORD your God:നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയെ മറുക്കാതെ യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവനെ സേവിച്ചു അവന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കയും നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളെ വാഴുന്ന രാജാവും നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു ചേർന്നിരിക്കയും ചെയ്താൽ കൊള്ളാം.

But if all of you will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers.എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയുടെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കാതെ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനയെ മറുത്താൽ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കു വിരോധമായിരുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾക്കും വിരോധമായിരിക്കും.

Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.ആകയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്നു യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾ കാൺകെ ചെയ്‍വാൻ പോകുന്ന ഈ വലിയ കാര്യം കണ്ടുകൊൾവിൻ.

Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that all of you may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which all of you have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.ഇതു കോതമ്പുകൊയ്ത്തിന്റെ കാലമല്ലോ; ഞാൻ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കും; അവൻ ഇടിയും മഴയും അയക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ ഒരു രാജാവിനെ ചോദിക്കയാൽ യഹോവയോടു ചെയ്ത ദോഷം എത്ര വലിയതെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അതിനാൽ കണ്ടറിയും.

So Samuel called unto the LORD; and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.അങ്ങനെ ശമൂവേൽ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; യഹോവ അന്നു ഇടിയും മഴയും അയച്ചു; ജനമെല്ലാം യഹോവയെയും ശമൂവേലിനെയും ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for your servants unto the LORD your God, that we die not: for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask us a king.ജനമെല്ലാം ശമൂവേലിനോടു: അടിയങ്ങൾക്കു വേണ്ടി നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കേണമേ; ഞങ്ങൾ മരിച്ചുപോകരുതേ; ഒരു രാജാവിനെ അപേക്ഷിച്ചതിൽ ഞങ്ങളുടെ സകലപാപങ്ങളോടും ഞങ്ങൾ ഈ ഒരു ദോഷവും കൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: all of you have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;ശമൂവേൽ ജനത്തോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഭയപ്പെടായ്‍വിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ ഈ ദോഷമൊക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറാതെ പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടെ യഹോവയെ സേവിപ്പിൻ.

And turn all of you not aside: for then should all of you go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.വിട്ടുമാറി, ഉപകാരമില്ലാത്തവയും രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ കഴിയാത്തവയുമായ മിത്ഥ്യാമൂർത്തികളോടു നിങ്ങൾ ചേരരുതു; അവ മിത്ഥ്യാവസ്തു തന്നേയല്ലോ.

For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it has pleased the LORD to make you his people.യഹോവ തന്റെ മഹത്തായ നാമംനിമിത്തം തന്റെ ജനത്തെ കൈവിടുകയില്ല; നിങ്ങളെ തന്റെ ജനമാക്കിക്കൊൾവാൻ യഹോവെക്കു ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:ഞാനോ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്‍വാൻ ഇടവരരുതേ; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു നല്ലതും ചൊവ്വുള്ളതുമായ വഴി ഉപദേശിക്കും.

²⁴

Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he has done for you.യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പരമാർത്ഥതയോടുംകൂടെ സേവിക്കമാത്രം ചെയ്‍വിൻ; അവൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു എത്ര വലിയ കാര്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഓർത്തുകൊൾവിൻ.

But if all of you shall still do wickedly, all of you shall be consumed, both all of you and your king.എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഇനിയും ദോഷം ചെയ്താൽ നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജാവും നശിച്ചുപോകും.
