Job 1
1
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.ഊസ് ദേശത്തു ഇയ്യോബ് എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരുഷൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ നിഷ്കളങ്കനും നേരുള്ളവനും ദൈവഭക്തനും ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുന്നവനും ആയിരുന്നു.

And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.അവന്നു ഏഴു പുത്രന്മാരും മൂന്നു പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.

His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.അവന്നു ഏഴായിരം ആടും മൂവായിരം ഒട്ടകവും അഞ്ഞൂറു ഏർ കാളയും അഞ്ഞൂറു പെൺ കഴുതയുമായ മൃഗസമ്പത്തും ഏറ്റവും വളരെ ദാസജനവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ അവൻ സകലപൂർവ്വദിഗ്വാസികളിലും മഹാനായിരുന്നു.

And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ ദിവസത്തിൽ താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ വിരുന്നു കഴിക്കയും തങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഭക്ഷിച്ചു പാനം ചെയ്വാൻ തങ്ങളുടെ മൂന്നു സഹോദരിമാരെയും ആളയച്ചു വിളിപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു.

And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.എന്നാൽ വിരുന്നുനാളുകൾ വട്ടംതികയുമ്പോൾ ഇയ്യോബ് പക്ഷെ എന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ പാപം ചെയ്തു ദൈവത്തെ ഹൃദയംകൊണ്ടു ത്യജിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ആളയച്ചു അവരെ വരുത്തി ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കയും നന്നാ രാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവരുടെ സംഖ്യക്കു ഒത്തവണ്ണം ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളെ കഴിക്കയും ചെയ്യും. ഇങ്ങനെ ഇയ്യോബ് എല്ലായ്പോഴും ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.

Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.ഒരു ദിവസം ദൈവപുത്രന്മാർ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നില്പാൻ ചെന്നു; അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ സാത്താനും ചെന്നു.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence come you? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.യഹോവ സാത്താനോടു: നീ എവിടെനിന്നു വരുന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു സാത്താൻ യഹോവയോടു: ഞാൻ ഭൂമിയിൽ ഊടാടി സഞ്ചരിച്ചിട്ടു വരുന്നു എന്നുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and turns away from evil?യഹോവ സാത്താനോടു: എന്റെ ദാസനായ ഇയ്യോബിന്മേൽ നീ ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചുവോ? അവനെപ്പോലെ നിഷ്കളങ്കനും നേരുള്ളവനും ദൈവഭക്തനും ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുന്നവനും ഭൂമിയിൽ ആരും ഇല്ലല്ലോ എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Does Job fear God for nothing?അതിന്നു സാത്താൻ യഹോവയോടു: വെറുതെയോ ഇയ്യോബ് ദൈവഭക്തനായിരിക്കുന്നതു?

Have not you made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he has on every side? you have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.നീ അവന്നും അവന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നും അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തിന്നും ചുറ്റും വേലികെട്ടീട്ടില്ലയോ? നീ അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ മൃഗസമ്പത്തു ദേശത്തു പെരുകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

But put forth yours hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.തൃക്കൈ നീട്ടി അവന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും ഒന്നു തൊടുക; അവൻ നിന്നെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി ത്യജിച്ചുപറയും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power; only upon himself put not forth yours hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.ദൈവം സാത്താനോടു: ഇതാ, അവന്നുള്ളതൊക്കെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ മേൽ മാത്രം കയ്യേറ്റം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ സാത്താൻ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധി വിട്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി.

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:ഒരു ദിവസം ഇയ്യോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും മൂത്ത ജ്യേഷ്ഠന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ തിന്നുകയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ

And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:ഒരു ദൂതൻ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു: കാളകളെ പൂട്ടുകയും പെൺകഴുതകൾ അരികെ മേഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കയും ആയിരുന്നു;

And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.പെട്ടെന്നു ശെബായർ വന്നു അവയെ പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുപോകയും വേലക്കാരെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ വെട്ടിക്കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and has burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ വേറൊരുത്തൻ വന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ തീ ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു വീണു കത്തി, ആടുകളും വേലക്കാരും അതിന്നു ഇരയായ്പോയി; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ വന്നു: പെട്ടെന്നു കല്ദയർ മൂന്നു കൂട്ടമായി വന്നു ഒട്ടകങ്ങളെ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പോകയും വേലക്കാരെ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ വെട്ടിക്കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ഒരുത്തൻ മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:അവൻ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ മറ്റൊരുത്തൻ വന്നു; നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും മൂത്ത ജ്യേഷ്ഠന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ തിന്നുകയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and stroke the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell you.പെട്ടെന്നു മരുഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു ഒരു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു വന്നു വീട്ടിന്റെ നാലു മൂലെക്കും അടിച്ചു: അതു യൌവനക്കാരുടെമേൽ വീണു; അവർ മരിച്ചുപോയി; വിവരം നിന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ഞാനൊരുത്തൻ മാത്രം വഴുതിപ്പോന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,അപ്പോൾ ഇയ്യോബ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു വസ്ത്രം കീറി തല ചിരെച്ചു സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു:

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.നഗ്നനായി ഞാൻ എന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു, നഗ്നനായി തന്നേ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകും, യഹോവ തന്നു, യഹോവ എടുത്തു, യഹോവയുടെ നാമം വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെടുമാറാകട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.ഇതിലൊന്നിലും ഇയ്യോബ് പാപം ചെയ്കയോ ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഭോഷത്വം ആരോപിക്കയോ ചെയ്തില്ല.
