And it came to pass after this, that David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And the LORD said unto him, Go up. And David said, Where shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.അനന്തരം ദാവീദ് യഹോവയോടു: ഞാൻ യെഹൂദ്യനഗരങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നിലേക്കു ചെല്ലേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. യഹോവ അവനോടു: ചെല്ലുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. ഞാൻ എവിടേക്കു ചെല്ലേണ്ടു എന്നു ദാവീദ് ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഹെബ്രോനിലേക്കു എന്നു അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.

So David went up thither, and his two wives also, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail Nabal's wife the Carmelite.അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് യിസ്രെയേൽക്കാരത്തി അഹീനോവം, കർമ്മേല്യൻ നാബാലിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായിരുന്ന അബീഗയിൽ എന്നീ രണ്ടു ഭാര്യമാരുമായി അവിടേക്കു ചെന്നു.

And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.അപ്പോൾ യെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാർ വന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു ദാവീദിനെ യെഹൂദാഗൃഹത്തിന്നു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു.

And David sent messengers unto the men of Jabeshgilead, and said unto them, Blessed be all of you of the LORD, that all of you have showed this kindness unto your lord, even unto Saul, and have buried him.ഗിലെയാദിലെ യാബേശ് നിവാസികൾ ആയിരുന്നു ശൌലിനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തതു എന്നു ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവുകിട്ടി. ദാവീദ്, ഗിലെയാദിലെ യാബേശ് നിവാസികളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു: നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനനായ ശൌലിനോടു ഇങ്ങനെ ദയകാണിച്ചു അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയാൽ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ.

And now the LORD show kindness and truth unto you: and I also will requite you this kindness, because all of you have done this thing.യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു ദയയും വിശ്വസ്തതയും കാണിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; നിങ്ങൾ ഈ കാര്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു ഞാനും നിങ്ങൾക്കു നന്മ ചെയ്യും.

Therefore now let your hands be strengthened, and be all of you valiant: for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah have anointed me king over them.ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു ശൂരന്മാരായിരിപ്പിൻ; നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനനായ ശൌൽ മരിച്ചുപോയല്ലോ; യെഹൂദാഗൃഹം എന്നെ തങ്ങൾക്കു രാജാവായിട്ടു അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

But Abner the son of Ner, captain of Saul's host, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him over to Mahanaim;എന്നാൽ ശൌലിന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ നേരിന്റെ മകൻ അബ്നേർ ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ ഈശ്-ബോശെത്തിനെ മഹനയീമിലേക്കു കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി,

Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David.ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ ഈശ്-ബോശെത്ത് യിസ്രായേലിൽ രാജാവായപ്പോൾ അവന്നു നാല്പതു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം വാണു. യെഹൂദാഗൃഹമോ ദാവീദിനോടു ചേർന്നുനിന്നു.

And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met together by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, the one on the one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.അപ്പോൾ സെരൂയയുടെ മകനായ യോവാബും ദാവീദിന്റെ ചേവകരും പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഗിബെയോനിലെ കുളത്തിന്നരികെവെച്ചു അവരെ നേരിട്ടു; അവർ കുളത്തിന്റെ ഇപ്പുറത്തും മറ്റേവർ കുളത്തിന്റെ അപ്പുറത്തും ഇരുന്നു.

And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.അബ്നേർ യോവാബിനോടു: ബാല്യക്കാർ എഴുന്നേറ്റു നമ്മുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒന്നു കളിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, which pertained to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.അങ്ങനെയാകട്ടെ എന്നു യോവാബും പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ ബെന്യാമീന്യരുടെയും ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ ഈശ്-ബോശെത്തിന്റെയും ഭാഗത്തുനിന്നു പന്ത്രണ്ടുപേരും ദാവീദിന്റെ ചേവകരിൽ പന്ത്രണ്ടുപേരും എണ്ണമൊത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തമ്മിൽ അടുത്തു.

And they caught every one his fellow by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellow's side; so they fell down together: wherefore that place was called Helkathhazzurim, which is in Gibeon.ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ എതിരാളിയെ മുടിക്കു പിടിച്ചു വിലാപ്പുറത്തു വാൾ കുത്തിക്കടത്തി ഒരുമിച്ചു വീണു; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഗിബെയോനിലെ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ഹെൽക്കത്ത്-ഹസ്സൂരീം എന്നു പേരായി.

And there was a very sore battle that day; and Abner was beaten, and the men of Israel, before the servants of David.അന്നു യുദ്ധം ഏറ്റവും കഠിനമായി, അബ്നേരും യിസ്രായേല്യരും ദാവീദിന്റെ ചേവകരോടു തോറ്റുപോയി.

And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was as light of foot as a wild roe.അവിടെ യോവാബ്, അബീശായി, അസാഹേൽ ഇങ്ങനെ സെരൂയയുടെ മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അസാഹേൽ കാട്ടുകലയെപ്പോലെ ശീഘ്രഗാമി ആയിരുന്നു.

And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.അസാഹേൽ അബ്നേരിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നു; അബ്നേരിനെ പിന്തുടരുന്നതിൽ വലത്തോട്ടോ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ മാറിയില്ല.

Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Are you Asahel? And he answered, I am.അബ്നേർ പിറകോട്ടു നോക്കി: നീ അസാഹേലോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: അതേ എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And Abner said to him, Turn you aside to your right hand or to your left, and lay you hold on one of the young men, and take you his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.അബ്നേർ അവനോടു: നീ വലത്തോട്ടോ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ തിരിഞ്ഞു, ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തനെ പിടിച്ചു അവന്റെ ആയുധവർഗ്ഗം എടുത്തുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എങ്കിലും അസാഹേലിന്നു അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറുവാൻ മനസ്സായില്ല.

And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn you aside from following me: wherefore should I strike you to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab your brother?അബ്നേർ അസാഹേലിനോടു: എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോക; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വെട്ടിവീഴിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? പിന്നെ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ യോവാബിന്റെ മുഖത്തു എങ്ങനെ നോക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Nevertheless he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear stroke him under the fifth rib, that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass, that as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.എന്നാറെയും വിട്ടുമാറുവാൻ അവന്നു മനസ്സായില്ല; അബ്നേർ അവനെ കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു പിറകോട്ടു വയറ്റത്തു കുത്തി; കുന്തം മറുവശത്തു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവൻ അവിടെ തന്നെ വീണു മരിച്ചു. അസാഹേൽ മരിച്ചുകിടന്നേടത്തു വന്നവർ ഒക്കെയും നിന്നുപോയി.

Joab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lies before Giah by the way of the wilderness of Gibeon.യോവാബും അബീശായിയും അബ്നോരിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നു; അവർ ഗിബെയോൻ മരുഭൂമിയിലെ വഴിയരികെ ഗീഹിന്റെ മുമ്പിലുള്ള അമ്മാക്കുന്നിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിച്ചു.

And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together after Abner, and became one troop, and stood on the top of an hill.ബെന്യാമീന്യർ അബ്നേരിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരേ കൂട്ടമായി കൂടി ഒരു കുന്നിൻ മുകളിൽനിന്നു.

Then Abner called to Joab, and said, Shall the sword devour for ever? know you not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then, before you bid the people return from following their brethren?അപ്പോൾ അബ്നേർ യോവാബിനോടു: വാൾ എന്നും സംഹരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കേണമോ? ഒടുവിൽ കൈപ്പുണ്ടാകുമെന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ? സഹോരദന്മാരെ പിന്തുടരുന്നതു മതിയാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ജനത്തോടു കല്പിപ്പാൻ നീ എത്രത്തോളം താമസിക്കും എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Joab said, As God lives, unless you had spoken, surely then in the morning the people had gone up every one from following his brother.അതിന്നു യോവാബ്: ദൈവത്താണ, നീ പറഞ്ഞില്ലെങ്കിൽ ജനം രാവിലെ തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ പിന്തുടരാതെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Joab blew a trumpet, and all the people stood still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.ഉടനെ യോവാബ് കാഹളം ഊതിച്ചു, ജനം ഒക്കെയും നിന്നു, യിസ്രായേലിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നില്ല പൊരുതതുമില്ല.

And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plain, and passed over Jordan, and went through all Bithron, and they came to Mahanaim.അബ്നേരും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും അന്നു രാത്രിമുഴുവനും അരാബയിൽകൂടി നടന്നു യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നു ബിത്രോനിൽകൂടി ചെന്നു മഹനയീമിൽ എത്തി.

And Joab returned from following Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David's servants nineteen men and Asahel.യോവാബും അബ്നേരിനെ പിന്തുടരുന്നതു വിട്ടു മടങ്ങി, ജനത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഒന്നിച്ചു കൂട്ടിയപ്പോൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ ചേവരകരിൽ പത്തൊമ്പതുപേരും അസാഹേലും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin, and of Abner's men, so that three hundred and threescore men died.എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ ചേവകർ ബെന്യാമീന്യരെയും അബ്നേരിന്റെ ആളുകളെയും തോല്പിക്കയും അവരിൽ മുന്നൂറ്ററുപതുപേരെ സംഹരിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.

And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the tomb of his father, which was in Bethlehem. And Joab and his men went all night, and they came to Hebron at break of day.അസാഹേലിനെ അവർ എടുത്തു ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമിൽ അവന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ കല്ലറയിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; യോവാബും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും നടന്നു പുലർച്ചെക്കു ഹെബ്രോനിൽ എത്തി

Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും തമ്മിൽ ദീർഘകാലം യുദ്ധം നടന്നു; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിന്നു ബലം കൂടിക്കൂടിയും ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹം ക്ഷയിച്ചു ക്ഷയിച്ചും വന്നു.

And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;ദാവീദിന്നു ഹെബ്രോനിൽവെച്ചു പുത്രന്മാർ ജനിച്ചു; യിസ്രെയേൽക്കാരത്തിയായ അഹീനോവം പ്രസവിച്ച അമ്നോൻ അവന്റെ ആദ്യജാതൻ.

And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;കർമ്മേല്യൻ നാബാലിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായിരുന്ന അബീഗയിൽ പ്രസവിച്ച കിലെയാബ് രണ്ടാമത്തവൻ; ഗെശൂർരാജാവായ തൽമയിയുടെ മകൾ മയഖയുടെ മകനായ അബ്ശാലോം മൂന്നാമത്തവൻ;

And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;ഹഗ്ഗീത്തിന്റെ മകനായ അദോനീയാവു നാലാമത്തവൻ; അബീതാലിന്റെ മകനായ ശെഫത്യാവു അഞ്ചാമത്തവൻ;

And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David's wife. These were born to David in Hebron.ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ എഗ്ളാ പ്രസവിച്ച യിത്രെയാം ആറാമത്തവൻ. ഇവരാകുന്നു ഹെബ്രോനിൽവെച്ചു ദാവീദിന്നു ജനിച്ചവർ.

And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഗൃഹവും തമ്മിൽ യുദ്ധം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കാലത്തു അബ്നേർ ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ തന്നെത്താൻ ബലപ്പെടുത്തിയിരുന്നു.

And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ishbosheth said to Abner, Wherefore have you gone in unto my father's concubine?എന്നാൽ ശൌലിന്നു അയ്യാവിന്റെ മകളായി രിസ്പാ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു വെപ്പാട്ടി ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഈശ്-ബോശെത്ത് അബ്നേരിനോടു: നീ എന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

Then was Abner very angry for the words of Ishbosheth, and said, Am I a dog's head, which against Judah do show kindness this day unto the house of Saul your father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David, that you charge me to day with a fault concerning this woman?അബ്നേർ ഈശ്-ബോശെത്തിന്റെ വാക്കുനിമിത്തം ഏറ്റവും കോപിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഞാൻ യെഹൂദാ പക്ഷത്തിലുള്ള ഒരു നായ്ത്തലയോ? ഇന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തോടും അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരോടും സ്നേഹിതന്മാരോടും ദയ കാണിക്കയും നിന്നെ ദാവീദിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കെ ഇന്നു ഈ സ്ത്രീ നിമിത്തം നീ എന്നെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുന്നുവോ?

So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD has sworn to David, even so I do to him;ശൌലിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്നു രാജത്വം മാറ്റുകയും ദാവീദിന്റെ സിംഹാസനം ദാൻമുതൽ ബേർ-ശേബവരെ യിസ്രായേലിലും യെഹൂദയിലും സ്ഥാപിക്കയും ചെയ്‍വാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം

To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.യഹോവ ദാവീദിനോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഞാൻ അവന്നു സാധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കാതിരുന്നാൽ ദൈവം അബ്നേരിനോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.അവൻ അബ്നേരിനെ ഭയപ്പെടുകകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു പിന്നെ ഒരു വാക്കും പറവാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make your league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with you, to bring about all Israel unto you.അനന്തരം അബ്നേർ ഹെബ്രോനിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു: ദേശം ആർക്കുള്ളതു? എന്നോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്ക; എന്നാൽ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനെയും നിന്റെ പക്ഷത്തിൽ വരുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ സഹായം നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

And he said, Well; I will make a league with you: but one thing I require of you, that is, You shall not see my face, except you first bring Michal Saul's daughter, when you come to see my face.അതിന്നു അവൻ: നല്ലതു; ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്യാം; എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഒരു കാര്യം നിന്നോടു ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നു: നീ എന്നെ കാണ്മാൻ വരുമ്പോൾ ആദ്യം തന്നേ ശൌലിന്റെ മകളായ മീഖളിനെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വരാതിരുന്നാൽ നീ എന്റെ മുഖം കാൺകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul's son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.ദാവീദ് ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ ഈശ്-ബോശെത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു: ഞാൻ വിവാഹനിശ്ചയത്തിന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നൂറു അഗ്രചർമ്മംകൊടുത്തു വാങ്ങിയ എന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ മീഖളിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരിക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

And Ishbosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.ഈശ്-ബോശെത്ത് അവളെ ലയീശിന്റെ മകനായി അവളുടെ ഭർത്താവായ ഫല്തിയേലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്നു വരുത്തി.

And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.അവളുടെ ഭർത്താവു കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടു ബഹൂരീംവരെ അവളുടെ പിന്നാലെ വന്നു. അബ്നേർ അവനോടു: നീ മടങ്ങിപ്പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, All of you sought for David in times past to be king over you:അവൻ മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി, എന്നാൽ അബ്നേർ യിസ്രായേൽമൂപ്പന്മാരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു: ദാവീദിനെ രാജാവായി കിട്ടുവാൻ കുറെ കാലമായല്ലോ നിങ്ങൾ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു.

And Abner also spoke in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ അബ്നേർ ബെന്യാമീന്യരോടും പറഞ്ഞു; പിന്നെ അബ്നേർ യിസ്രായേലിന്നും ബെന്യാമീൻ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും സമ്മതമായതെല്ലാം ദാവീദിനോടു അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഹെബ്രോനിൽ പോയി.

So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.ഇങ്ങനെ അബ്നേരും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുപതു പുരുഷന്മാരും ഹെബ്രോനിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു. ദാവീദ് അബ്നേരിന്നും കൂടെയുള്ളവർക്കും വേണ്ടി ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.

And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with you, and that you may reign over all that yours heart desires. Then Joab came to the king, and said, What have you done? behold, Abner came unto you; why is it that you have sent him away, and he is quite gone?യോവാബ് രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: എന്താകുന്നു ഈ ചെയ്തതു? അബ്നേർ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നിരുന്നല്ലോ; അവനെ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചതെന്തു?

You know Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive you, and to know your going out and your coming in, and to know all that you do.അവൻ പോയല്ലോ! നേരിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്നേരിനെ നീ അറികയില്ലേ? നിന്നെ ചതിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ പോക്കും വരവും ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും നീ ചെയ്യുന്നതൊക്കെയും അറിവാനുമല്ലോ അവൻ വന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:ദാവീദ് അതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ നേരിന്റെ മകനായ അബ്നേരിന്റെ രക്തം സംബന്ധിച്ചു എനിക്കും എന്റെ രാജത്വത്തിന്നും യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒരിക്കലും കുറ്റം ഇല്ല.

Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that has an issue, or that is a leper, or that leans on a staff, or that falls on the sword, or that lacks bread.അതു യോവാബിന്റെ തലമേലും അവന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്മേലൊക്കെയും ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; യോവാബിന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിൽ സ്രവക്കാരനോ കുഷ്ഠരോഗിയോ വടികുത്തി നടക്കുന്നവനോ വാളിനാൽ വീഴുന്നവനോ ആഹാരത്തിന്നു മുട്ടുള്ളവനോ വിട്ടൊഴിയാതിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So Joab, and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.അബ്നേർ ഗിബെയോനിലെ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ തങ്ങളുടെ അനുജനായ അസാഹേലിനെ കൊന്നതു നിമിത്തം യോവാബും അവന്റെ സഹോദരനായ അബീശായിയും ഇങ്ങനെ അവനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.അവർ അബ്നേരിനെ ഹെബ്രോനിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ രാജാവു അബ്നേരിന്റെ ശവക്കുഴിക്കൽ ഉറക്കെ കരഞ്ഞു; സകലജനവും കരഞ്ഞു.

Your hands were not bound, nor your feet put into fetters: as a man falls before wicked men, so fell you. And when all the people came to cause David to eat food while it was yet day, David swore, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.നേരം വൈകുംമുമ്പേ ജനമെല്ലാം ദാവീദിനെ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു വന്നപ്പോൾ: സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കും മുമ്പെ ഞാൻ അപ്പം എങ്കിലും മറ്റു യാതൊന്നെങ്കിലും ആസ്വദിച്ചാൽ ദൈവം എന്നോടു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു ദാവീദ് സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.ഇതു ജനമെല്ലാം അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ: രാജാവു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും സർവ്വജനത്തിന്നും ബോധിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെ ഇതും അവർക്കു ബോധിച്ചു.

For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.നേരിന്റെ പുത്രനായ അബ്നേരിനെ കൊന്നതു രാജാവിന്റെ അറിവോടെയല്ല എന്നു സകലജനത്തിന്നും യിസ്രായേലിന്നൊക്കെയും അന്നു ബോധ്യമായി.

And the king said unto his servants, Know all of you not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?രാജാവു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ഇന്നു യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു പ്രഭുവും മഹാനുമായവൻ പട്ടുപോയി എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നില്ലയോ?

2 Samuel 4

And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.അബ്നേർ ഹെബ്രോനിൽവെച്ചു മരിച്ചു പോയതു ശൌലിന്റെ മകൻ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ധൈര്യം ക്ഷയിച്ചു യിസ്രായേല്യരൊക്കെയും ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോയി.

And Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son that was lame of his feet. He was five years old when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathan out of Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled: and it came to pass, as she made haste to flee, that he fell, and became lame. And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron. David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.ദാവീദ് വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പതു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

And David said on that day, Whosoever gets up to the watercourse, and strikes the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind that are hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.അന്നു ദാവീദ്: ആരെങ്കിലും യെബൂസ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചാൽ അവൻ നീർപ്പാത്തിയിൽകൂടി കയറി ദാവീദിന്നു വെറുപ്പായുള്ള മുടന്തരെയും കുരുടരെയും പിടിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതു കൊണ്ടു കുരുടരും മുടന്തരും വീട്ടിൽ വരരുതു എന്നൊരു ചൊല്ലു നടപ്പായി.

So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.ദാവീദ് കോട്ടയിൽ വസിച്ചു, അതിന്നു ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരമെന്നു പേരിട്ടു. ദാവീദ് അതിനെ മില്ലോ തുടങ്ങി ചുറ്റിലും ഉള്ളിലോട്ടും പണിതുറപ്പിച്ചു.

And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ തന്നോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ദാവീദ് മേല്ക്കുമേൽ പ്രബലനായിത്തീർന്നു.

And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and stone workers: and they built David an house.സോർരാജാവായ ഹീരാം ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ദൂതന്മാരെയും ദേവദാരുക്കളെയും ആശാരികളെയും കല്പണിക്കാരെയും അയച്ചു; അവർ ദാവീദിന്നു ഒരു അരമന പണിതു.

And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel's sake.ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിൽ തന്നെ രാജാവായി സ്ഥിരപ്പെടുത്തുകയും അവന്റെ ജനമായ യിസ്രായേൽ നിമിത്തം തന്റെ രാജത്വം ഉന്നതമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു എന്നു ദാവീദ് അറിഞ്ഞു.

And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.ഹെബ്രോനിൽനിന്നു വന്നശേഷം ദാവീദ് യെരൂശലേമിൽവെച്ചു അധികം വെപ്പാട്ടികളെയും ഭാര്യമാരെയും പരിഗ്രഹിച്ചു; ദാവീദിന്നു പിന്നെയും പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ജനിച്ചു.

And these be the names of those that were born unto him in Jerusalem; Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,യെരൂശലേമിൽവെച്ചു അവന്നു ജനിച്ചവരുടെ പേരുകളാവിതു: ശമ്മൂവ, ശോബാബ്, നാഥാൻ, ശലോമോൻ,

Ibhar also, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,യിബ്ഹാർ, എലിശൂവ, നേഫെഗ്, യാഫീയ,

And Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.എലീശാമാ, എല്യാദാവു, എലീഫേലെത്ത്,

But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി അഭിഷേകം ചെയ്തു എന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ ഒക്കെയും ദാവീദിനെ പിടിപ്പാൻ വന്നു; ദാവീദ് അതു കേട്ടിട്ടു ദുർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ കടന്നു പാർത്തു.

The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ വന്നു രെഫായീം താഴ്വരയിൽ പരന്നു.

And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? will you deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into yours hand.അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് യഹോവയോടു: ഞാൻ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെടേണമോ? അവരെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. പുറപ്പെടുക; ഞാൻ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ ദാവീദിനോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

And David came to Baalperazim, and David stroke them there, and said, The LORD has broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് ബാൽ-പെരാസീമിൽ ചെന്നു; അവിടെവെച്ചു ദാവീദ് അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു; വെള്ളച്ചാട്ടംപോലെ യഹോവ എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ തകർത്തുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ടു ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ബാൽ-പെരാസീം എന്നു പേർ പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.അവിടെ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ ഇട്ടേച്ചുപോയി; ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും അവയെ എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോന്നു.

And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ പിന്നെയും വന്നു രെഫായീംതാഴ്വരിയിൽ പരന്നു.

And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, You shall not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them opposite to the mulberry trees.ദാവീദ് യഹോവയോടു ചോദിച്ചപ്പോൾ: നീ നേരെ ചെല്ലാതെ അവരുടെ പിമ്പുറത്തുകൂടി വളഞ്ഞുചെന്നു ബാഖാവൃക്ഷങ്ങൾക്കു എതിരെവെച്ചു അവരെ നേരിടുക.

And let it be, when you hear the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall bestir yourself: for then shall the LORD go out before you, to strike the host of the Philistines.ബാഖാവൃക്ഷങ്ങളുടെ അഗ്രങ്ങളിൽകൂടി അണിനടക്കുന്ന ഒച്ചപോലെ കേൾക്കും; അപ്പോൾ വേഗത്തിൽ ചെല്ലുക; ഫെലിസ്ത്യസൈന്യത്തെ തോല്പിപ്പാൻ യഹോവ നിനക്കു മുമ്പായി പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി.

And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and stroke the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gazer.യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ദാവീദ് ചെയ്തു, ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ ഗേബമുതൽ ഗേസെർവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു.
