Proverbs 4

Hear, all of you children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.മക്കളേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേട്ടു വിവേകം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിൻ.

For I give you good doctrine, forsake all of you not my law.ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു സൽബുദ്ധി ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉപദേശം നിങ്ങൾ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.

For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.ഞാൻ എന്റെ അപ്പന്നു മകനും എന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഓമനയും ഏകപുത്രനും ആയിരുന്നു;

He taught me also, and said unto me, Let yours heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.അവൻ എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു, എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊൾക; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു ജീവിക്ക.

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക: വിവേകം നേടുക; മറക്കരുതു; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമരുതു.

Forsake her not, and she shall preserve you: love her, and she shall keep you.അതിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; അതിൽ പ്രിയം വെക്കുക; അതു നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും;

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding.ജ്ഞാനംതന്നേ പ്രധാനം; ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക; നിന്റെ സകലസമ്പാദ്യത്താലും വിവേകം നേടുക.

Exalt her, and she shall promote you: she shall bring you to honour, when you do embrace her.അതിനെ ഉയർത്തുക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉയർത്തും; അതിനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്താൽ അതു നിനക്കു മാനം വരുത്തും.

She shall give to yours head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.അതു നിന്റെ തലയെ അലങ്കാരമാല അണിയിക്കും; അതു നിന്നെ ഒരു മഹത്വകിരീടം ചൂടിക്കും.

Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of your life shall be many.മകനേ കേട്ടു എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊൾക; എന്നാൽ നിനക്കു ദീർഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകും.

I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths.ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗം ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു: നേരെയുള്ള പാതയിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ നടത്തുന്നു.

When you go, your steps shall not be straitened; and when you run, you shall not stumble.നടക്കുമ്പോൾ നിന്റെ കാലടിക്കു ഇടുക്കം വരികയില്ല; ഓടുമ്പോൾ നീ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.

Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is your life.പ്രബോധനം മുറുകെ പിടിക്ക; വിട്ടുകളയരുതു; അതിനെ കാത്തുകൊൾക, അതു നിന്റെ ജീവനല്ലോ.

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പാതയിൽ നീ ചെല്ലരുതു; ദുർജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കയുമരുതു;

Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.അതിനോടു അകന്നുനിൽക്ക; അതിൽ നടക്കരുതു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറി കടന്നുപോക.

¹⁶

For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.അവർ ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉറങ്ങുകയില്ല; വല്ലവരെയും വീഴിച്ചിട്ടല്ലാതെ അവർക്കു ഉറക്കം വരികയില്ല.

For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരംകൊണ്ടു അവർ ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു; ബലാൽക്കാരത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു അവർ പാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day.നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചംപോലെ; അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികം ശോഭിച്ചു വരുന്നു.

The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെവഴി അന്ധകാരംപോലെയാകുന്നു; ഏതിങ്കൽ തട്ടി വീഴും എന്നു അവർ അറിയുന്നില്ല.

My son, attend to my words; incline yours ear unto my sayings.മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾക്കു ശ്രദ്ധതരിക; എന്റെ മൊഴികൾക്കു നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിക്ക.

Let them not depart from yours eyes; keep them in the midst of yours heart.അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽനിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിൽ അവയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കുക.

For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.അവയെ കിട്ടുന്നവർക്കു അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ സർവ്വദേഹത്തിന്നും സൌഖ്യവും ആകുന്നു.

Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.സകലജാഗ്രതയോടുംകൂടെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കാത്തുകൊൾക; ജീവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം അതിൽനിന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നതു.

Put away from you a perverse mouth, and perverse lips put far from you.വായുടെ വക്രത നിങ്കൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളക; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വികടം നിങ്കൽനിന്നകറ്റുക.

²⁵

Let yours eyes look right on, and let yours eyelids look straight before you.നിന്റെ കണ്ണു നേരെ നോക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമ ചൊവ്വെ മുമ്പോട്ടു മിഴിക്കട്ടെ.

²⁶

Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established.നിന്റെ കാലുകളുടെ പാതയെ നിരപ്പാക്കുക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

²⁷

Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove your foot from evil.ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിയരുതു; നിന്റെ കാലിനെ ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുമാറാക്കുക.

Proverbs 5

My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow yours ear to my understanding:മകനേ, വകതിരിവിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങൾ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ പാലിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

That you may regard discretion, and that your lips may keep knowledge.ജ്ഞാനത്തെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു എന്റെ ബോധത്തിന്നു ചെവി ചായിക്ക.

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ അധരങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു തേൻ ഇറ്റിറ്റു വീഴുന്നു; അവളുടെ അണ്ണാക്കു എണ്ണയെക്കാൾ മൃദുവാകുന്നു.

But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.പിന്നത്തേതിലോ അവൾ കാഞ്ഞിരംപോലെ കൈപ്പും ഇരുവായ്ത്തലവാൾപോലെ മൂർച്ചയും ഉള്ളവൾ തന്നേ.

Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.അവളുടെ കാലുകൾ മരണത്തിലേക്കു ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുന്നു; അവളുടെ കാലടികൾ പാതാളത്തിലേക്കു ഓടുന്നു.

Lest you should ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that you can not know them.ജീവന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ അവൾ ചെല്ലാതവണ്ണം അവളുടെ പാതകൾ അസ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൾ അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

Hear me now therefore, O all of you children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.ആകയാൽ മക്കളേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾപ്പിൻ; എന്റെ വായിലെ മൊഴികളെ വിട്ടുമാറരുതു.

Remove your way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:നിന്റെ വഴിയെ അവളോടു അകറ്റുക; അവളുടെ വീട്ടിന്റെ വാതിലോടു അടുക്കരുതു.

Lest you give yours honour unto others, and your years unto the cruel:നിന്റെ യൌവനശക്തി അന്യന്മാർക്കും നിന്റെ ആണ്ടുകൾ ക്രൂരന്നും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

Lest strangers be filled with your wealth; and your labours be in the house of a stranger;കണ്ടവർ നിന്റെ സമ്പത്തു തിന്നുകളയരുതു. നിന്റെ പ്രയത്നഫലം വല്ലവന്റെയും വീട്ടിൽ ആയ്പോകരുതു.

And you mourn at the last, when your flesh and your body are consumed,നിന്റെ മാംസവും ദേഹവും ക്ഷയിച്ചിട്ടു നീ ഒടുവിൽ നെടുവീർപ്പിട്ടുകൊണ്ടു:

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;അയ്യോ! ഞാൻ പ്രബോധനം വെറുക്കയും എന്റെ ഹൃദയം ശാസനയെ നിരസിക്കയും ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!എന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാരുടെ വാക്കു ഞാൻ അനുസരിച്ചില്ല; എന്നെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചവർക്കു ഞാൻ ചെവികൊടുത്തില്ല.

I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.സഭയുടെയും സംഘത്തിന്റെയും മദ്ധ്യേ ഞാൻ ഏകദേശം സകലദോഷത്തിലും അകപ്പെട്ടുപോയല്ലോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ പറവാൻ സംഗതിവരരുതു.

Drink waters out of yours own cistern, and running waters out of yours own well.നിന്റെ സ്വന്തജലാശയത്തിലെ തണ്ണീരും സ്വന്തകിണറ്റിൽനിന്നു ഒഴുകുന്ന വെള്ളവും കുടിക്ക.

¹⁶

Let your fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.നിന്റെ ഉറവുകൾ വെളിയിലേക്കും നിന്റെ നീരൊഴുക്കുകൾ വീഥിയിലേക്കും ഒഴുകിപ്പോകേണമോ?

¹⁷

Let them be only yours own, and not strangers' with you.അവ നിനക്കും അന്യന്മാർക്കും കൂടെയല്ല നിനക്കു മാത്രമേ ഇരിക്കാവു.

¹⁸

Let your fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of your youth.നിന്റെ ഉറവു അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ യൌവനത്തിലെ ഭാര്യയിൽ സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊൾക.

Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and be you ravished always with her love.കൌതുകമുള്ള പേടമാനും മനോഹരമായ ഇളമാൻ പേടയും പോലെ അവളുടെ സ്തനങ്ങൾ എല്ലാകാലത്തും നിന്നെ രമിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ; അവളുടെ പ്രേമത്താൽ നീ എല്ലായ്പോഴും മത്തനായിരിക്ക.

And why will you, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?മകനേ, നീ പരസ്ത്രീയെ കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കുന്നതും അന്യസ്ത്രീയുടെ മാറിടം തഴുകുന്നതും എന്തു?

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he ponders all his activities.മനുഷ്യന്റെ വഴികൾ യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ നടപ്പു ഒക്കെയും അവൻ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.

His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sins.ദുഷ്ടന്റെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾ അവനെ പിടിക്കും; തന്റെ പാപപാശങ്ങളാൽ അവൻ പിടിപെടും.

²³

He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.പ്രബോധനം കേൾക്കായ്കയാൽ അവൻ മരിക്കും; മഹാഭോഷത്വത്താൽ അവൻ വഴിതെറ്റിപ്പോകും.

Proverbs 6

My son, if you be guarantor for your friend, if you have stricken your hand with a stranger,മകനേ, കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു വേണ്ടി നീ ജാമ്യം നിൽക്കയോ അന്യന്നു വേണ്ടി കയ്യടിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ,

You are snared with the words of your mouth, you are taken with the words of your mouth.നിന്റെ വായിലെ വാക്കുകളാൽ നീ കുടുങ്ങിപ്പോയി; നിന്റെ വായിലെ മൊഴികളാൽ പിടിപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, when you are come into the hand of your friend; go, humble yourself, and make sure your friend.ആകയാൽ മകനേ, ഇതു ചെയ്ക; നിന്നെത്തന്നേ വിടുവിക്ക; കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ കയ്യിൽ നീ അകപ്പെട്ടുപോയല്ലോ; നീ ചെന്നു, താണുവീണു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു മുട്ടിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്ക.

Give not sleep to yours eyes, nor slumber to yours eyelids.നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നു ഉറക്കവും നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമെക്കു നിദ്രയും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

Deliver yourself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.മാൻ നായാട്ടുകാരന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും പക്ഷി വേട്ടക്കാരന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും എന്നപോലെ നീ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ വിടുവിക്ക,

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:മടിയാ, ഉറുമ്പിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുക; അതിന്റെ വഴികളെ നോക്കി ബുദ്ധിപഠിക്ക.

Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,അതിന്നു നായകനും മേൽവിചാരകനും അധിപതിയും ഇല്ലാതിരുന്നിട്ടും

Provides her food in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.വേനൽക്കാലത്തു തന്റെ ആഹാരം ഒരുക്കുന്നു; കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു തന്റെ തീൻ ശേഖരിക്കുന്നു.

How long will you sleep, O sluggard? when will you arise out of your sleep?മടിയാ, നീ എത്രനേരം കിടന്നുറങ്ങും? എപ്പോൾ ഉറക്കത്തിൽ നിന്നെഴുന്നേല്ക്കും?

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:കുറേക്കൂടെ ഉറക്കം; കുറേക്കൂടെ നിദ്ര; കുറെക്കൂടെ കൈകെട്ടിക്കിടക്ക.

So shall your poverty come as one that travels, and your lack as an armed man.അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം വഴിപോക്കനെപ്പോലെയും നിന്റെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടു ആയുധപാണിയെപ്പോലെയും വരും.

A naughty person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth.നിസ്സാരനും ദുഷ്കർമ്മിയുമായവൻ വായുടെ വക്രതയോടെ നടക്കുന്നു.

He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers;അവൻ കണ്ണിമെക്കുന്നു; കാൽകൊണ്ടു പരണ്ടുന്നു; വിരൽകൊണ്ടു ആംഗ്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു.

Perverseness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows discord.അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ വക്രതയുണ്ടു; അവൻ എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദോഷം നിരൂപിച്ചു വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ആപത്തു പെട്ടെന്നു വരും; ക്ഷണത്തിൽ അവൻ തകർന്നുപോകും; പ്രതിശാന്തിയുണ്ടാകയുമില്ല.

These six things does the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:ആറു കാര്യം യഹോവ വെറുക്കുന്നു; ഏഴു കാര്യം അവന്നു അറെപ്പാകുന്നു:

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,ഗർവ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും വ്യാജമുള്ള നാവും കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ചൊരിയുന്ന കയ്യും

¹⁸

An heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,ദുരുപായം നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ഹൃദയവും ദോഷത്തിന്നു ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ഓടുന്ന കാലും

¹⁹

A false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.ഭോഷ്കു പറയുന്ന കള്ളസാക്ഷിയും സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നവനും തന്നേ.

My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not the law of your mother:മകനേ, നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്ക; അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയുമരുതു.

Bind them continually upon yours heart, and tie them about your neck.അതു എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ബന്ധിച്ചുകൊൾക; നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിൽ അതു കെട്ടിക്കൊൾക.

When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and when you awake, it shall talk with you.നീ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അതു നിനക്കു വഴികാണിക്കും. നീ ഉറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; നീ ഉണരുമ്പോൾ അതു നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കും.

For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:കല്പന ഒരു ദീപവും ഉപദേശം ഒരു വെളിച്ചവും പ്രബോധനത്തിന്റെ ശാസനകൾ ജീവന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗവും ആകുന്നു.

²⁴

To keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.അവ ദുഷ്ടസ്ത്രീയുടെ വശീകരണത്തിൽനിന്നും പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ ചക്കരവാക്കുകളിൽനിന്നും നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

²⁵

Lust not after her beauty in yours heart; neither let her take you with her eyelids.അവളുടെ സൌന്ദര്യത്തെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ മോഹിക്കരുതു; അവൾ കണ്ണിമകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെ വശീകരിക്കയുമരുതു.

²⁶

For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീനിമിത്തം പെറുക്കിത്തിന്നേണ്ടിവരും; വ്യഭിചാരിണി വിലയേറിയ ജീവനെ വേട്ടയാടുന്നു.

²⁷

Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്നു തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം വെന്തു പോകാതെ മടിയിൽ തീ കൊണ്ടുവരാമോ?

²⁸

Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?ഒരുത്തന്നു കാൽ പൊള്ളാതെ തീക്കനലിന്മേൽ നടക്കാമോ?

²⁹

So he that goes in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever touches her shall not be innocent.കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുന്നവൻ ഇങ്ങനെ തന്നേ; അവളെ തൊടുന്ന ഒരുത്തനും ശിക്ഷവരാതെയിരിക്കയില്ല.

³⁰

Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;കള്ളൻ വിശന്നിട്ടു വിശപ്പടക്കുവാൻ മാത്രം കട്ടാൽ ആരും അവനെ നിരസിക്കുന്നില്ല.

³¹

But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.അവനെ പിടികിട്ടിയാൽ അവൻ ഏഴിരട്ടി മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാം; തന്റെ വീട്ടിലെ വസ്തുവക ഒക്കെയും കൊടുക്കാം;

But whoso commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: he that does it destroys his own soul.സ്ത്രീയോടു വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ, ബുദ്ധിഹീനൻ; അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ സ്വന്തപ്രാണനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.പ്രഹരവും അപമാനവും അവന്നു ലഭിക്കും; അവന്റെ നിന്ദ മാഞ്ഞുപോകയുമില്ല.

³⁴

For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.ജാരശങ്ക പുരുഷന്നു ക്രോധഹേതുവാകുന്നു; പ്രതികാരദിവസത്തിൽ അവൻ ഇളെക്കുകയില്ല.
