In the seventh year of Jehu Jehoash began to reign; and forty years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.യേഹൂവിന്റെ ഏഴാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെഹോവാശ് വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങി; അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം വാണു. ബേർ-ശേബക്കാരത്തിയായ അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു സിബ്യാ എന്നു പേർ.

And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.യെഹോയാദാപുരോഹിതൻ യെഹോവാശിനെ ഉപദേശിച്ചുപോന്ന കാലത്തൊക്കെയും അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു ഇഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.എങ്കിലും പൂജാഗിരികൾക്കു നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളിൽ യാഗം കഴിച്ചും ധൂപം കാട്ടിയും പോന്നു.

And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passes the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that comes into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,യെഹോവാശ് പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു: യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ നിവേദിതമായി പിരിഞ്ഞുകിട്ടുന്ന ദ്രവ്യമൊക്കെയും ഓരോ ആളെ മതിച്ച വിലയും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ ഓരോരുത്തൻ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന സ്വമേധാദാനമായ ദ്രവ്യമൊക്കെയും

Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, where ever any breach shall be found.ഓരോ പുരോഹിതനും താന്താന്റെ പരിചയക്കാരോടു വാങ്ങി ആലയത്തിന്നു അറ്റകുറ്റം കാണുന്നേടത്തൊക്കെയും അറ്റകുറ്റം തീർക്കേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

But it was so, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash the priests had not repaired the breaches of the house.എന്നാൽ യെഹോവാശ് രാജാവിന്റെ ഇരുപത്തിമൂന്നാം ആണ്ടിൽ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീർത്തിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നു.

Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair all of you not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.ആകയാൽ യെഹോവാശ് രാജാവു യെഹോയാദാപുരോഹിതനെയും ശേഷം പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും വരുത്തി അവരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീർക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? ഇനി നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ പരിചയക്കാരോടു ദ്രവ്യം വാങ്ങാതെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീർക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു കൊടുപ്പിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the priests consented to receive no more money of the people, neither to repair the breaches of the house.അങ്ങനെ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ തങ്ങൾ മേലാൽ ജനത്തോടു ദ്രവ്യം വാങ്ങാതിരിപ്പാനും ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീർക്കാതിരിപ്പാനും സമ്മതിച്ചു.

But Jehoiada the priest took a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the house of the LORD: and the priests that kept the door put therein all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.അപ്പോൾ യെഹോയാദാപുരോഹിതൻ ഒരു പെട്ടകം എടുത്തു അതിന്റെ മൂടിയിൽ ഒരു ദ്വാരം ഉണ്ടാക്കി യാഗപീഠത്തിന്നരികെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കുള്ള പ്രവേശനത്തിന്റെ വലത്തു ഭാഗത്തു വെച്ചു; വാതിൽ കാക്കുന്ന പുരോഹിതന്മാർ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു വരുന്ന ദ്രവ്യം ഒക്കെയും അതിൽ ഇടും.

And it was so, when they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up, and they put up in bags, and told the money that was found in the house of the LORD.പെട്ടകത്തിൽ ദ്രവ്യം വളരെയായി എന്നു കാണുമ്പോൾ രാജാവിന്റെ രായസക്കാരനും മഹാപുരോഹിതനും കൂടെച്ചെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ കണ്ട ദ്രവ്യം എണ്ണി സഞ്ചികളിൽ കെട്ടും.

And they gave the money, being told, into the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of the house of the LORD: and they laid it out to the carpenters and builders, that wrought upon the house of the LORD,അവർ ദ്രവ്യം യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പണി നടത്തുന്ന വിചാരകന്മാരുടെ പക്കൽ തൂക്കിക്കൊടുക്കും; അവർ അതു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ പണിചെയ്യുന്ന ആശാരിമാർക്കും ശില്പികൾക്കും

And to stone workers, and hewers of stone, and to buy timber and hewed stone to repair the breaches of the house of the LORD, and for all that was laid out for the house to repair it.കല്പണിക്കാർക്കും കല്ലുവെട്ടുകാർക്കും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീർപ്പാൻ വേണ്ടുന്ന മരവും ചെത്തിയ കല്ലും വാങ്ങുന്നതിന്നും ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീർപ്പാൻ വേണ്ടുന്ന ചെലവൊക്കെയും കഴിക്കുന്നതിന്നും കൊടുക്കും.

Nevertheless there were not made for the house of the LORD bowls of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets, any vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that was brought into the house of the LORD:യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ പിരിഞ്ഞുകിട്ടിയ ദ്രവ്യംകൊണ്ടു വെള്ളിക്കിണ്ണം, കത്രിക, കലം കാഹളം എന്നിങ്ങനെ പൊന്നും വെള്ളിയുംകൊണ്ടുള്ള യാതൊരു ഉപകരണങ്ങളും അവർ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയംവകെക്കു ഉണ്ടാക്കാതെ

But they gave that to the workmen, and repaired therewith the house of the LORD.പണിചെയ്യുന്നവർക്കു മാത്രം അതു കൊടുക്കും; അങ്ങനെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്നു അറ്റകുറ്റം തീർക്കും.

Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.എന്നാൽ പണിചെയ്യുന്നവർക്കു കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ദ്രവ്യം ഏറ്റുവാങ്ങിയവരോടു അവർ കണക്കു ചോദിച്ചില്ല; വിശ്വാസത്തിന്മേൽ ആയിരുന്നു അവർ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചുപോന്നതു.

The trespass money and sin money was not brought into the house of the LORD: it was the priests'.അകൃത്യയാഗത്തിന്റെ ദ്രവ്യവും പാപയാഗത്തിന്റെ ദ്രവ്യവും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നില്ല; അതു പുരോഹിതന്മാർക്കുള്ളതായിരുന്നു.

Then Hazael king of Syria went up, and fought against Gath, and took it: and Hazael set his face to go up to Jerusalem.ആ കാലത്തു അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേൽ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഗത്തിനെ യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു പിടിച്ചു; ഹസായേൽ യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ നേരെയും വരേണ്ടതിന്നു

And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചാറെ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോവാശ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത്, യെഹോരാം, അഹസ്യാവു എന്നീ യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാർ നിവേദിച്ചിരുന്ന സകലനിവേദിതവസ്തുക്കളും താൻ നിവേദിച്ചിരുന്ന വസ്തുക്കളും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലെ ഭണ്ഡാരത്തിലും രാജധാനിയിലും ഉള്ള പൊന്നൊക്കെയും എടുത്തു അരാം രാജാവായ ഹസായേലിന്നു കൊടുത്തു; അങ്ങനെ അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിനെ വിട്ടുപോയി.

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?യോവാശിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goes down to Silla.യോവാശിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ മത്സരിച്ചു കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി സില്ലായിലേക്കു പോകുന്ന വഴിക്കലുള്ള മില്ലോഗൃഹത്തിൽ വെച്ചു അവനെ കൊന്നു.

For Jozachar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, stroke him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in his position.ശിമെയാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യോസാഖാർ, ശോമേരിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോസാബാദ് എന്നീ ഭൃത്യന്മരായിരുന്നു അവനെ വെട്ടിക്കൊന്നതു. ദാവീദിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ അവന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അമസ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായ്തീർന്നു.

2 Kings 13

In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശിന്റെ ഇരുപത്തിമൂന്നാം ആണ്ടിൽ യേഹൂവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസ് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി ശമർയ്യയിൽ പതിനേഴു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not from it.അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറാതെ അവയിൽ തന്നേ നടന്നു.

And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, all their days.ആകയാൽ യഹോവയുടെ കോപം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ചു; അവൻ അവരെ അരാംരാജാവായ ഹസായേലിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഹസായേലിന്റെ മകനായ ബെൻ-ഹദദിന്റെ കയ്യിലും നിരന്തരം വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.

And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.എന്നാൽ യെഹോവാഹാസ് യഹോവയോടു കൃപെക്കായി അപേക്ഷിച്ചു; അരാംരാജാവു യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഞെരുക്കിയ ഞെരുക്കം യഹോവ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടു.

(And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as in time past.യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ഒരു രക്ഷകനെ കൊടുത്തതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ അരാമ്യരുടെ അധികാരത്തിൽനിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോയി; യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ പണ്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ തങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ വസിപ്പാൻ സംഗതിവന്നു.

Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)എങ്കിലും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച യൊരോബെയാം ഗൃഹത്തിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ അവർ വിട്ടുമാറാതെ അവയിൽ തന്നേ നടന്നു; അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠെക്കു ശമർയ്യയിൽ നീക്കം വന്നില്ല.

Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.അവൻ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്നു അമ്പതു കുതിരച്ചേവകരെയും പത്തു രഥങ്ങളെയും പതിനായിരം കാലാളുകളെയും അല്ലാതെ മറ്റു യാതൊരു പടജ്ജനത്തെയും ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ല; അരാംരാജാവു അവരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു മെതിക്കളത്തിലെ പൊടിപോലെ ആക്കിയിരുന്നു.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തിയും യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his position.യെഹോവാഹാസ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമർയ്യയിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശ് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മുപ്പത്തേഴാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശ് യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി ശമർയ്യയിൽ പതിനൊന്നു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?യോവാശിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അമസ്യാവോടു യുദ്ധത്തിൽ കാണിച്ച പരാക്രമവും യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.യോവാശ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; യൊരോബെയാം സിംഹാസനം കയറി; യോവാശിനെ ശമർയ്യയിൽ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരോടു കൂടെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.ആ കാലത്തു എലീശാ മരണഹേതുകമായ രോഗംപിടിച്ചു കിടന്നു; അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യോവാശ് അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവന്റെ മുഖത്തിന്മീതെ കുനിഞ്ഞു കരഞ്ഞു; എന്റെ പിതാവേ, എന്റെ പിതാവേ, യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ തേരും തേരാളികളുമായുള്ളോവേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.എലീശാ അവനോടു: അമ്പും വില്ലും എടുക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അവൻ അമ്പും വില്ലും എടുത്തു.

And he said to the king of Israel, Put yours hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.അപ്പോൾ അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു നിന്റെ കൈ വില്ലിന്മേൽ വെക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ കൈവെച്ചപ്പോൾ എലീശാ തന്റെ കൈ രാജാവിന്റെ കൈമേൽ വെച്ചു.

And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for you shall strike the Syrians in Aphek, till you have consumed them.കിഴക്കെ കിളിവാതിൽ തുറക്ക എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ അതു തുറന്നപ്പോൾ: എയ്ക എന്നു എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞു. എയ്താറെ അവൻ: അതു യഹോവയുടെ ജയാസ്ത്രം, അരാമ്യർക്കു നേരെയുള്ള ജയാസ്ത്രം തന്നേ; നീ അഫേക്കിൽവെച്ചു അരാമ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചു അശേഷം സംഹരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Strike upon the ground. And he stroke three times, and stayed.അമ്പു എടുക്ക എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ എടുത്തു; നിലത്തടിക്ക എന്നു അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം അടിച്ചു നിർത്തി.

And the man of God was angry with him, and said, You should have smitten five or six times; then had you smitten Syria till you had consumed it: whereas now you shall strike Syria but three times.അപ്പോൾ ദൈവപുരുഷൻ അവനോടു കോപിച്ചു; നീ അഞ്ചാറു പ്രവാശ്യം അടിക്കേണ്ടിയിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ നീ അരാമ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചു അശേഷം സംഹരിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; ഇപ്പോഴോ നീ അരാമ്യരെ മൂന്നു പ്രാവശ്യം മാത്രം തോല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.എന്നാൽ എലീശാ മരിച്ചു; അവർ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു; പിറ്റെ ആണ്ടിൽ മോവാബ്യരുടെ പടക്കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ ദേശത്തെ ആക്രമിച്ചു.

And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the tomb of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.ചിലർ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ ഒരു പടക്കൂട്ടത്തെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അയാളെ എലീശാവിന്റെ കല്ലറയിൽ ഇട്ടു; അവൻ അതിൽ വീണു എലീശയുടെ അസ്ഥികളെ തൊട്ടപ്പോൾ ജീവിച്ചു കാലൂന്നി എഴുന്നേറ്റു.

But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.എന്നാൽ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും അരാമ്യരാജാവായ ഹസായേൽ യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഞെരുക്കിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ യെഹോവാഹാസിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യോവാശിന്റെ മകൻ അമസ്യാവു രാജാവായി.

He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.രാജത്വം അവന്നു സ്ഥിരമായപ്പോൾ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ രാജാവിനെ കൊന്ന ഭൃത്യന്മാരെ അവൻ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.അവൻ ഉപ്പുതാഴ്വരയിൽവെച്ചു എദോമ്യരിൽ പതിനായിരം പേരെ കൊന്നു, സേലയെ യുദ്ധംചെയ്തു പിടിച്ചു അതിന്നു യൊക്തെയേൽ എന്നു പേർ വിളിച്ചു; അതു ഇന്നുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

But Amaziah would not hear. And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു, യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളൊന്നും വിട്ടുമാറിയില്ല.

He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spoke by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.ഗത്ത്-ഹേഫർകാരനായ അമിത്ഥായിയുടെ മകനായ യോനാപ്രവാചകൻ എന്ന തന്റെ ദാസൻ മുഖാന്തരം യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരം അവൻ ഹമാത്തിന്റെ അതിർമുതൽ അരാബയിലെ കടൽവരെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദേശത്തെ വീണ്ടും സ്വാധീനമാക്കി.

Sixteen years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned two and fifty years in Jerusalem. This was the word of the LORD which he spoke unto Jehu, saying, Your sons shall sit on the throne of Israel unto the fourth generation. Then Menahem stroke Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he stroke it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.മെനഹേം തിപ്സഹും അതിലുള്ള സകലവും തിർസ്സാതൊട്ടു അതിന്നു ചേർന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളും ശൂന്യമാക്കി; അവർ പട്ടണവാതിൽ തുറന്നു കൊടുക്കായ്കയാൽ അവൻ അതിനെ ശൂന്യമാക്കുകയും അതിലെ ഗർഭിണികളെയൊക്കെയും പിളർന്നുകളകയും ചെയ്തു.

In the nine and thirtieth year of Azariah king of Judah began Menahem the son of Gadi to reign over Israel, and reigned ten years in Samaria.യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അസർയ്യാവിന്റെ മുപ്പത്തൊമ്പതാം ആണ്ടിൽ ഗാദിയുടെ മകൻ മെനഹേം യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി ശമർയ്യയിൽ പത്തു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not all his days from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ ജീവപര്യന്തം വിട്ടുമാറിയതുമില്ല.

And Menahem exacted the money of Israel, even of all the mighty men of wealth, of each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. In the second year of Pekah the son of Remaliah king of Israel began Jotham the son of Uzziah king of Judah to reign.യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ രെമല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ പേക്കഹിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഉസ്സീയാവിന്റെ മകൻ യോഥാം രാജാവായി.

Five and twenty years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. Nevertheless the high places were not removed: the people sacrificed and burned incense still in the high places. He built the higher gate of the house of the LORD.എങ്കിലും പൂജാഗിരികൾക്കു നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളിൽ യാഗം കഴിച്ചും ധൂപം കാട്ടിയും പോന്നു; അവൻ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ മേലത്തെ വാതിൽ പണിതു.

In those days the LORD began to send against Judah Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah.ആ കാലത്തു യഹോവ അരാംരാജാവായ രെസീനെയും രെമല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ പേക്കഹിനെയും യെഹൂദെക്കു നേരെ അയച്ചുതുടങ്ങി.
