And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.ശമൂവേൽ മരിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേൽ ഒക്കെയും ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിലപിച്ചു, രാമയിൽ അവന്റെ വീട്ടിന്നരികെ അവനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. ദാവീദ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു പാരാൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പോയി പാർത്തു.

And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.കർമ്മേലിൽ വ്യാപാരമുള്ള ഒരു മാവോന്യൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ മഹാ ധനികനായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു മൂവായിരം ചെമ്മരിയാടും ആയിരം കോലാടും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവന്നു കർമ്മേലിൽ ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന അടിയന്തരം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was rude and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.അവന്നു നാബാൽ എന്നും അവന്റെ ഭാര്യക്കു അബീഗയിൽഎന്നും പേർ. അവൾ നല്ല വിവേകമുള്ളവളും സുന്ദരിയും അവനോ നിഷ്ഠൂരനും ദുഷ്കർമ്മിയും ആയിരുന്നു. അവൻ കാലേബ് വംശക്കാരൻ ആയിരുന്നു.

And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep.നാബാലിന്നു ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന അടിയന്തരം ഉണ്ടെന്നു ദാവീദ് മരുഭൂമിയിൽ കേട്ടു.

And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:ദാവീദ് പത്തു ബാല്യക്കാരെ അയച്ചു, അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങൾ കർമ്മേലിൽ നാബാലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു എന്റെ പേരിൽ അവന്നു വന്ദനം ചൊല്ലി:

And thus shall all of you say to him that lives in prosperity, Peace be both to you, and peace be to yours house, and peace be unto all that you have.നന്നായിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിനക്കും നിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്നും നന്നായിരിക്കട്ടെ; നിനക്കുള്ള സകലത്തിന്നും നന്നായിരിക്കട്ടെ.

And now I have heard that you have shearers: now your shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.നിനക്കു ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന അടിയന്തരം ഉണ്ടെന്നു ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. നിന്റെ ഇടയന്മാർ ഞങ്ങളോടു കൂടെ ഇരുന്നപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ അവരെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചില്ല; അവർ കർമ്മേലിൽ ഇരുന്ന കാലത്തൊക്കെയും അവർക്കു ഒന്നും കാണാതെ പോയതുമില്ല.

Ask your young men, and they will show you. Wherefore let the young men find favour in yours eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray you, whatsoever comes to yours hand unto your servants, and to your son David.നിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാരോടു ചോദിച്ചാൽ അവരും നിന്നോടു പറയും; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഈ ബാല്യക്കാരോടു ദയതോന്നേണം; നല്ല നാളിലല്ലോ ഞങ്ങൾ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നതു; നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ വരുന്നതു അടിയങ്ങൾക്കും നിന്റെ മകനായ ദാവീദിന്നും തരേണമേ എന്നു അവനോടു പറവിൻ.

And when David's young men came, they spoke to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.ദാവീദിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാർ ചെന്നു നാബാലിനോടു ഈ വാക്കുകളെല്ലാം ദാവീദിന്റെ പേരിൽ അറിയിച്ചു കാത്തുനിന്നു.

And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants these days that break away every man from his master.നാബാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ദാവീദ് ആർ? യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകൻ ആർ? യജമാനന്മാരെ വിട്ടു പൊയ്ക്കളയുന്ന ദാസന്മാർ ഇക്കാലത്തു വളരെ ഉണ്ടു.

Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?ഞാൻ എന്റെ അപ്പവും വെള്ളവും എന്റെ ആടുകളെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നവർക്കായി ഒരുക്കിയ മാംസവും എടുത്തു എവിടുത്തുകാർ എന്നു അറിയാത്തവർക്കു കൊടുക്കുമോ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

So David's young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.ദാവീദിന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാർ മടങ്ങിവന്നു വിവരമൊക്കെയും അവനോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

And David said unto his men, Gird all of you on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ ആളുകളോടു: എല്ലാവരും വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടിക്കൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ എല്ലാവരും വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടി; ദാവീദും വാൾ അരെക്കു കെട്ടി; ഏകദേശം നാനൂറുപേർ ദാവീദിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; ഇരുനൂറുപേർ സാമാനങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ പാർത്തു.

But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.എന്നാൽ ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ നാബാലിന്റെ ഭാര്യയായ അബീഗയിലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: ദാവീദ് നമ്മുടെ യജമാനന്നു വന്ദനം ചൊല്ലുവാൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു; അവനോ അവരെ ശകാരിച്ചു അയച്ചു.

But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:എന്നാൽ ആ പുരുഷന്മാർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഏറ്റവും ഉപകാരമുള്ളവരായിരുന്നു; ഞങ്ങൾ വയലിൽ അവരുമായി സഹവാസം ചെയ്തിരുന്ന കാലത്തൊരിക്കലും അവർ ഞങ്ങളെ ഉപദ്രവിച്ചില്ല; ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഒന്നും കാണാതെ പോയതുമില്ല.

They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.ഞങ്ങൾ ആടുകളെ മേയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു അവരോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോഴൊക്കെയും രാവും പകലും അവർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു മതിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.

Now therefore know and consider what you will do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him.ആകയാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നു ആലോചിച്ചുനോക്കേണം; നമ്മുടെ യജമാനന്നും അവന്റെ സകലഭവനത്തിന്നും ദോഷം നിർണ്ണയിച്ചുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവനോ ദുസ്സ്വഭാവിയാകകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ആർക്കും ഒന്നും മിണ്ടിക്കൂടാ.

Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses.ഉടനെ അബീഗയിൽ ഇരുനൂറു അപ്പവും രണ്ടു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും പാകം ചെയ്ത അഞ്ചു ആടും അഞ്ചു പറ മലരും നൂറു ഉണക്ക മുന്തിരിക്കുലയും ഇരുനൂറു അത്തിയടയും എടുത്തു കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറ്റി ബാല്യക്കാരോടു;

And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal.നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്കു മുമ്പായി പോകുവിൻ; ഞാൻ ഇതാ, പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. തന്റെ ഭർത്താവായ നാബാലിനോടു അവൾ ഒന്നും അറിയിച്ചില്ലതാനും.

And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert on the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.അവൾ കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി മലയുടെ മറവിൽകൂടി ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ ഇതാ, ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും അവളുടെ നേരെ വരുന്നു; അവൾ അവരെ എതിരേറ്റു.

Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained unto him: and he has requited me evil for good.എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ്: മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അവന്നു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞാൻ വെറുതെയല്ലോ കാത്തതു; അവന്റെ വക ഒന്നും കാണാതെ പോയതുമില്ല; അവനോ നന്മെക്കു പകരം എനിക്കു തിന്മചെയ്തു.

So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that pisses against the wall.അവന്നുള്ള സകലത്തിലും പുരുഷപ്രജയായ ഒന്നിനെയെങ്കിലും പുലരുംവരെ ഞാൻ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചേച്ചാൽ ദൈവം ദാവീദിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കൾക്കു തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground,അബീഗയിൽ ദാവീദിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ കഴുതപ്പുറത്തുനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി ദാവീദിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let yours handmaid, I pray you, speak in yours audience, and hear the words of yours handmaid.അവൾ അവന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ വീണു പറഞ്ഞതു: യജമാനനേ, കുറ്റം എന്റെമേൽ ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; അടിയൻ ഒന്നു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്ളട്ടെ; അടിയന്റെ വാക്കുകളെ കേൾക്കേണമേ.

²⁵

Let not my lord, I pray you, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I yours handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom you did send.ദുസ്സ്വഭാവിയായ ഈ നാബാലിനെ യജമാനൻ ഗണ്യമാക്കരുതേ; അവൻ തന്റെ പേർപോലെ തന്നെ ആകുന്നു; നാബാൽ എന്നല്ലോ അവന്റെ പേർ; ഭോഷത്വം അത്രേ അവന്റെ പക്കൽ ഉള്ളതു. അടിയനോ, യജമാനൻ അയച്ച ബാല്യക്കാരെ കണ്ടിരുന്നില്ല.

²⁶

Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, seeing the LORD has withheld you from coming to shed blood, and from avenging yourself with yours own hand, now let yours enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.ആകയാൽ യജമാനനേ, യഹോവയാണ, നിന്നാണ, രക്തപാതകവും സ്വന്തകയ്യാൽ പ്രതികാരവും ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം യഹോവ നിന്നെ തടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളും യജമാനന്നു ദോഷം വിചാരിക്കുന്നവരും നാബാലിനെപ്പോലെ ആകട്ടെ.

²⁷

And now this blessing which yours handmaid has brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.ഇപ്പോൾ യജമാനന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അടിയൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ കാഴ്ച യജമാനന്റെ പരിചാരകരായ ബാല്യക്കാർക്കു ഇരിക്കട്ടെ.

²⁸

I pray you, forgive the trespass of yours handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fights the battles of the LORD, and evil has not been found in you all your days.അടിയന്റെ കുറ്റം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ, യഹോവ യജമാനന്നു സ്ഥിരമായോരു ഭവനം പണിയും; യഹോവയുടെ യുദ്ധങ്ങളെയല്ലോ യജമാനൻ നടത്തുന്നതു. ആയുഷ്കാലത്തൊരിക്കലും നിന്നിൽ ദോഷം കാണുകയില്ല.

²⁹

Yet a man has risen to pursue you, and to seek your soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God; and the souls of yours enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling.മനുഷ്യൻ നിന്നെ പിന്തുർന്നു നിനക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റാലും യജമാനന്റെ പ്രാണൻ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ പക്കൽ ജീവഭാണ്ഡത്തിൽ കെട്ടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും; നിന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ പ്രാണങ്ങളെയോ അവൻ കവിണയുടെ തടത്തിൽനിന്നു എന്നപോലെ എറിഞ്ഞുകളയും.

And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you, and shall have appointed you ruler over Israel;എന്നാൽ യഹോവ യജമാനന്നു വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ നന്മയും നിവൃത്തിച്ചുതന്നു നിന്നെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു പ്രഭുവാക്കിവെക്കുമ്പോൾ

That this shall be no grief unto you, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that you have shed blood causeless, or that my lord has avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember yours handmaid.അകാരണമായി രക്തം ചിന്നുകയും യജമാനൻ താൻ തന്നേ പ്രതികാരം നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തുപോയി എന്നുള്ള ചഞ്ചലവും മനോവ്യഥയും യജമാനന്നു ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല; എന്നാൽ യഹോവ യജമാനന്നു നന്മ ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ അടിയനെയും ഓർത്തുകൊള്ളേണമേ.

And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent you this day to meet me:ദാവീദ് അബീഗയിലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്നെ എതിരേല്പാൻ നിന്നെ ഇന്നു അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു സ്തോത്രം.

And blessed be your advice, and blessed be you, which have kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.നിന്റെ വിവേകം സ്തുത്യം; രക്തപാതകവും സ്വന്തകയ്യാൽ പ്രതികാരവും ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം എന്നെ ഇന്നു തടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന നീയും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൾ.

For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel lives, which has kept me back from hurting you, except you had hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisses against the wall.നിന്നോടു ദോഷം ചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം എന്നെ തടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയാണ, നീ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു എന്നെ എതിരേറ്റു വന്നിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ നേരം പുലരുമ്പോഴേക്കു പുരുഷപ്രജയൊന്നും നാബാലിന്നു ശേഷിക്കയില്ലായിരുന്നു.

So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to yours house; see, I have hearkened to your voice, and have accepted your person.പിന്നെ അവൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു ദാവീദ് അവളുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വാങ്ങി അവളോടു: സമാധാനത്തോടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോക; ഇതാ, ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു നിന്റെ മുഖം ആദരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.അബീഗയിൽ നാബാലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ തന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ രാജവിരുന്നുപോലെ ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; നാബാലിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ആനന്ദത്തിലായി അവന്നു നന്നാ ലഹരിപിടിച്ചിരുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൾ നേരം വെളുക്കുംവരെ വിവരം ഒന്നും അവനെ അറിയിച്ചില്ല.

But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.എന്നാൽ രാവിലെ നാബാലിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു ഇറങ്ങിയശേഷം അവന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവനോടു വിവരം അറിയിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവന്റെ ഉള്ളിൽ നിർജ്ജീവമായി അവൻ കല്ലിച്ചുപോയി.

And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD stroke Nabal, that he died.പത്തുദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം യഹോവ നാബാലിനെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു, അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി.

And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and has kept his servant from evil: for the LORD has returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.നാബാൽ മരിച്ചു എന്നു ദാവീദ് കേട്ടപ്പോൾ: എന്നെ നിന്ദിച്ച നിന്ദെക്കായിട്ടു നാബാലിനോടു വ്യവഹരിക്കയും തന്റെ ദാസനെ തിന്മചെയ്യാതവണ്ണം തടുക്കയും ചെയ്ത യഹോവെക്കു സ്തോത്രം. നാബാലിന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത യഹോവ അവന്റെ തലയിൽ തന്നേ വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് അബീഗയിലിനെ തനിക്കു ഭാര്യയായിപരിഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവളോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ ആളയച്ചു.

And when the servants of David were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spoke unto her, saying, David sent us unto you, to take you to him to wife.ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ കർമ്മേലിൽ അബീഗയിലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവളോടു: നീ ദാവീദിന്നു ഭാര്യയായ്തീരുവാൻ നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുചെല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളെ അവൻ നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let yours handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.അവൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിലംവരെ തല കുനിച്ചു: ഇതാ, അടിയൻ യജമാനന്റെ ദാസന്മാരുടെ കാലുകളെ കഴുകുന്ന ദാസി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Abigail hasted, and arose and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.ഉടനെ അബീഗയിൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്റെ പരിചാരകികളായ അഞ്ചു ബാല്യക്കാരത്തികളുമായി കഴുതപ്പുറത്തു കയറി ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ചെന്നു അവന്നു ഭാര്യയായി തീർന്നു.

David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.യിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നു ദാവീദ് അഹീനോവമിനെയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവർ ഇരുവരും അവന്നു ഭാര്യമാരായ്തീർന്നു.

But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim.ശൌലോ തന്റെ മകളും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായിരുന്ന മീഖളിനെ ഗല്ലീമ്യനായ ലയീശിന്റെ മകൻ ഫല്തിക്കു കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു.

And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?അനന്തരം സീഫ്യർ ഗിബെയയിൽ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു; ദാവീദ് മരുഭൂമിക്കു തെക്കുള്ള ഹഖീലാക്കുന്നിൽ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.ശൌൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ദാവീദിനെ തിരയുവാൻ സീഫ് മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; യിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരുന്ന മൂവായിരംപേരും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.ശൌൽ മരുഭൂമിക്കു തെക്കുള്ള ഹഖീലാക്കുന്നിൽ പെരുവഴിക്കരികെ പാളയം ഇറങ്ങി. ദാവീദോ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പാർത്തു, ശൌൽ തന്നേ തേടി മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed.അതുകൊണ്ടു ദാവീദ് ചാരന്മാരെ അയച്ചു ശൌൽ ഇന്നേടത്തു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു.

And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him.ദാവീദ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശൌൽ പാളയം ഇറങ്ങിയിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു ചെന്നു; ശൌലും അവന്റെ സേനാപതിയായ നേരിന്റെ മകൻ അബ്നേരും കിടക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലം ദാവീദ് കണ്ടു; ശൌൽ കൈനിലയുടെ നടുവിൽ കിടന്നുറങ്ങി; പടജ്ജനം അവന്റെ ചുറ്റും പാളയമിറങ്ങിയിരുന്നു.

Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with you.ദാവീദ് ഹിത്യനായ അഹീമേലെക്കിനോടും സെരൂയയുടെ മകനും യോവാബിന്റെ സഹോദരനുമായ അബീശായിയോടും: പാളയത്തിൽ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കലേക്കു ആർ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പോരും എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കൂടെ പോരും എന്നു അബീശായി പറഞ്ഞു.

So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും അബീശായിയും രാത്രിയിൽ പടജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു; ശൌൽ കൈനിലെക്കകത്തു കിടന്നുറങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ കുന്തം അവന്റെ തലെക്കൽ നിലത്തു തറെച്ചിരുന്നു; അബ്നേരും പടജ്ജനവും അവന്നു ചുറ്റും കിടന്നിരുന്നു.

Then said Abishai to David, God has delivered yours enemy into yours hand this day: now therefore let me strike him, I pray you, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not strike him the second time.അബീശായി ദാവീദിനോടു: ദൈവം നിന്റെ ശത്രുവിനെ ഇന്നു നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ അവനെ കുന്തംകൊണ്ടു നിലത്തോടു ചേർത്തു ഒരു കുത്തായിട്ടു കുത്തട്ടെ; രണ്ടാമതു കുത്തുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?ദാവീദ് അബീശായിയോടു: അവനെ നശിപ്പിക്കരുതു; യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തന്റെ മേൽ കൈ വെച്ചിട്ടു ആർ ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കാതെപോകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

David said furthermore, As the LORD lives, the LORD shall strike him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.യഹോവയാണ, യഹോവ അവനെ സംഹരിക്കും; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവൻ മരിപ്പാനുള്ള ദിവസം വരും; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവൻ പടെക്കു ചെന്നു നശിക്കും;

The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed: but, I pray you, take you now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തന്റെമേൽ കൈ വെപ്പാൻ യഹോവ സംഗതിവരുത്തരുതേ; എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ തലെക്കൽ ഉള്ള കുന്തവും ജലപാത്രവും എടുത്തുകൊൾക; നമുക്കു പോകാം എന്നു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞു.

So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's bolster; and they got them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awaked: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് കുന്തവും ജലപാത്രവും ശൌലിന്റെ തലെക്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തു അവർ പോകയും ചെയ്തു; ആരും കണ്ടില്ല, ആരും അറിഞ്ഞില്ല, ആരും ഉണർന്നതുമില്ല; അവർ എല്ലാവരും ഉറങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു; യഹോവയാൽ ഗാഢനിദ്ര അവരുടെമേൽ വീണിരുന്നു.

Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill far off; a great space being between them:ദാവീദ് അപ്പുറം കടന്നുചെന്നു ദൂരത്തു ഒരു മലമുകളിൽ നിന്നു; അവർക്കു മദ്ധ്യേ മതിയായ അകലമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answer you not, Abner? And David said to Abner, Are not you a valiant man? and who is like to you in Israel? wherefore then have you not kept your lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king your lord.ദാവീദ് അബ്നേരിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ ഒരു പുരുഷൻ അല്ലയോ? യിസ്രായേലിൽ നിനക്കു തുല്യൻ ആരുള്ളു? അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കെ നിന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ നീ കാത്തുകൊള്ളാതിരുന്നതു എന്തു? നിന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവിനെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ ജനത്തിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ അവിടെ വന്നിരുന്നുവല്ലോ.

This thing is not good that you have done. As the LORD lives, all of you are worthy to die, because all of you have not kept your master, the LORD's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster.നീ ചെയ്ത കാര്യം നന്നായില്ല; യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനായ നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനനെ കാത്തുകൊള്ളാതിരിക്കയാൽ യഹോവയാണ നിങ്ങൾ മരണയോഗ്യർ ആകുന്നു. രാജാവിന്റെ കുന്തവും അവന്റെ തലെക്കൽ ഇരുന്ന ജലപാത്രവും എവിടെ എന്നു നോക്കുക.

And Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this your voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.അപ്പോൾ ശൌൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ ശബ്ദം തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു: എന്റെ മകനെ, ദാവീദേ, ഇതു നിന്റെ ശബ്ദമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ദാവീദ് എന്റെ ശബ്ദം തന്നേ, യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Wherefore does my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand?യജമാനൻ ഇങ്ങനെ അടിയനെ തേടിനടക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? അടിയൻ എന്തു ചെയ്തു? അടിയന്റെ പക്കൽ എന്തു ദോഷം ഉള്ളു?

Now therefore, I pray you, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred you up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.ആകയാൽ യജമാനനായ രാജാവു അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കേണമേ; തിരുമേനിയെ അടിയന്നു വിരോധമായി ഉദ്യോഗിപ്പിക്കുന്നതു യഹോവയാകുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അവൻ ഒരു വഴിപാടു ഏറ്റു പ്രസാദിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ; മനുഷ്യർ എങ്കിലോ അവർ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കട്ടെ. നീ പോയി അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു യഹോവയുടെ അവകാശത്തിൽ എനിക്കു പങ്കില്ലാതാകുംവണ്ണം അവർ എന്നെ ഇന്നു പുറത്തു തള്ളിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.ദാവീദ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: രാജാവേ, കുന്തം ഇതാ; ബാല്യക്കാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ വന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോകട്ടെ.

The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the LORD delivered you into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed.യഹോവ ഓരോരുത്തന്നു അവനവന്റെ നീതിക്കും വിശ്വസ്തതെക്കും ഒത്തവണ്ണം പകരം നല്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിന്നെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു; എങ്കിലും യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തന്റെ മേൽ കൈവെപ്പാൻ എനിക്കു മനസ്സായില്ല.

And, behold, as your life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ ജീവൻ ഇന്നു എനിക്കു വിലയേറിയതായിരുന്നതുപോലെ എന്റെ ജീവൻ യഹോവെക്കു വിലയേറിയതായിരിക്കട്ടെ; അവൻ എന്നെ സകല കഷ്ടതയിൽ നിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

Then Saul said to David, Blessed be you, my son David: you shall both do great things, and also shall still prevail. 1 Samuel 27

And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.അനന്തരം ദാവീദ്: ഞാൻ ഒരു ദിവസം ശൌലിന്റെ കയ്യാൽ നശിക്കേയുള്ളു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ ദേശത്തിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോകയല്ലാതെ എനിക്കു വേറെ നിവൃത്തിയില്ല; ശൌൽ അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽദേശത്തൊക്കെയും എന്നെ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതു മതിയാക്കും; ഞാൻ അവന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകും എന്നു മനസ്സിൽ നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.

And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു; താനും കൂടെയുള്ള അറുനൂറുപേരും ഗത്ത്‌രാജാവായ മാവോക്കിന്റെ മകൻ ആഖീശിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.ദാവീദ് ഫെലിസ്ത്യദേശത്തു പാർത്തകാലം ഒരു ആണ്ടും നാലു മാസവും ആയിരുന്നു.

And Achish said, Where have all of you made a road to day? And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And David said to Achish, Surely you shall know what your servant can do. Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that has a familiar spirit at Endor.അപ്പോൾ ശൌൽ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: എനിക്കു ഒരു വെളിച്ചപ്പാടത്തിയെ അന്വേഷിപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു ചോദിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: ഏൻ-ദോരിൽ ഒരു വെളിച്ചപ്പാടത്തി ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray you, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto you.ശൌൽ വേഷംമാറി വേറെ വസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു രണ്ടാളെയും കൂട്ടി പോയി രാത്രിയിൽ ആ സ്ത്രീയുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തി: വെളിച്ചപ്പാടാത്മാവുകൊണ്ടു നീ എനിക്കായി പ്രശ്നം നോക്കുകയും ഞാൻ പറയുന്നവനെ വരുത്തിത്തരികയും ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the woman said unto him, Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then lay you a snare for my life, to cause me to die?സ്ത്രീ അവനോടു: ശൌൽ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളതു, അവൻ വെളിച്ചപ്പാടന്മാരെയും മന്ത്രവാദികളെയും ദേശത്തുനിന്നു ഛേദിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുതന്നേ നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നെ കൊല്ലിപ്പാൻ നീ എന്റെ ജീവന്നു കണി വെക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Saul swore to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD lives, there shall no punishment happen to you for this thing.യഹോവയാണ ഈ കാര്യംകൊണ്ടു നിനക്കു ഒരു ദോഷവും ഭവിക്കയില്ല എന്നു ശൌൽ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ അവളോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto you? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.ഞാൻ ആരെ വരുത്തിത്തരേണ്ടു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ശമൂവേലിനെ വരുത്തിത്തരേണം എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, Why have you deceived me? for you are Saul.സ്ത്രീ ശമൂവേലിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ഉച്ചത്തിൽ നിലവിളിച്ചു, ശൌലിനോടു: നീ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചതു എന്തു? നീ ശൌൽ ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what saw you? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.രാജാവു അവളോടു: ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; നീ കാണുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: ഒരു ദേവൻ ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു കയറിവരുന്നതു ഞാൻ കാണുന്നു എന്നു സ്ത്രീ ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man comes up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.അവൻ അവളോടു: അവന്റെ രൂപം എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവൾ: ഒരു വൃദ്ധൻ കയറിവരുന്നു; അവൻ ഒരു അങ്കിയും ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാറെ അതു ശമൂവേൽ എന്നറിഞ്ഞു ശൌൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

And Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answers me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called you, that you may make known unto me what I shall do.ശമൂവേൽ ശൌലിനോടു: നീ എന്നെ വിളിച്ചതിനാൽ എന്റെ സ്വസ്ഥതെക്കു ഭംഗം വരുത്തിയതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു; അതിന്നു ശൌൽ: ഞാൻ മഹാകഷ്ടത്തിലായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ എന്നോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നു; ദൈവം എന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാരെക്കൊണ്ടാകട്ടെ സ്വപ്നംകൊണ്ടാകട്ടെ എന്നോടു ഉത്തരമരുളുന്നില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യേണമെന്നു എനിക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതരേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ വിളിപ്പിച്ചു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said Samuel, Wherefore then do you ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from you, and is become yours enemy?അതിന്നു ശമൂവേൽ പറഞ്ഞതു: ദൈവം നിന്നെ വിട്ടുമാറി നിനക്കു ശത്രുവായ്തീർന്നിരിക്കെ നീ എന്തിന്നു എന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുന്നു?

And the LORD has done to him, as he spoke by me: for the LORD has rent the kingdom out of yours hand, and given it to your neighbour, even to David:യഹോവ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു പറയിച്ചതുപോലെ അവൻ നിന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; രാജത്വം യഹോവ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു പറിച്ചെടുത്തു നിന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനായ ദാവീദിന്നു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

Because you obeyed not the voice of the LORD, nor executed his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore has the LORD done this thing unto you this day.നീ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന കേട്ടില്ല; അമാലേക്കിന്റെമേൽ അവന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം നടത്തിയതുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ ഈ കാര്യം ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines: and tomorrow shall you and your sons be with me: the LORD also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.യഹോവ നിന്നെയും യിസ്രായേലിനെയും ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും; നാളെ നീയും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും എന്നോടുകൂടെ ആകും; യിസ്രായേൽപാളയത്തെ യഹോവ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും.

Then Saul fell immediately all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.പെട്ടെന്നു ശൌൽ നെടുനീളത്തിൽ നിലത്തു വീണു ശമൂവേലിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ നിമിത്തം ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടുപോയി; അവനിൽ ഒട്ടും ബലമില്ലാതെയായി; അന്നു രാവും പകലും മുഴുവൻ അവൻ ഒന്നും ഭക്ഷിച്ചിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നു.

And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, yours handmaid has obeyed your voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto your words which you spoke unto me.അപ്പോൾ ആ സ്ത്രീ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു, അവൻ ഏറ്റവും പരിഭ്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു അവനോടു: അടിയൻ നിന്റെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു ജീവനെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു, നീ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

Now therefore, I pray you, hearken you also unto the voice of yours handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength, when you go on your way.ആകയാൽ അടിയന്റെ വാക്കു നീയും കേൾക്കേണമേ. ഞാൻ ഒരു കഷണം അപ്പം നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ വെക്കട്ടെ; നീ തിന്നേണം; എന്നാൽ നിന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോകുവാൻ നിനക്കു ബലം ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.അതിന്നു അവൻ: വേണ്ടാ, ഞാൻ തിന്നുകയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; എങ്കിലും അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരും ആ സ്ത്രീയും അവനെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു; അവൻ അവരുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു നിലത്തുനിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു മെത്തമേൽ ഇരുന്നു.

And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:സ്ത്രീയുടെ വീട്ടിൽ ഒരു തടിച്ച പശുക്കിടാവു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൾ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ അതിനെ അറുത്തു മാവും എടുത്തുകുഴെച്ചു പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പം ചുട്ടു.

And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.അവൾ അതു ശൌലിന്റെയും ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചു. അവർ തിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു രാത്രിയിൽ തന്നേ പോയി.
