Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why are you alone, and no man with you?ദാവീദ് നോബിൽ പുരോഹിതനായ അഹീമേലെക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു; അഹീമേലെക്ക് ദാവീദിനെ സംഭ്രമത്തോടെ എതിരേറ്റു അവനോടു: ആരും കൂടെ ഇല്ലാതെ തനിച്ചുവരുന്നതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king has commanded me a business, and has said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabouts I send you, and what I have commanded you: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.ദാവീദ് പുരോഹിതനായ അഹീമേലെക്കിനോടു: രാജാവു എന്നെ ഒരു കാര്യം ഏല്പിച്ചു: ഞാൻ നിന്നെ അയക്കുന്നതും നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതുമായ കാര്യം ഒന്നും ആരും അറിയരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ ബാല്യക്കാർ ഇന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു വരേണമെന്നു ഞാൻ ചട്ടം കെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

Now therefore what is under yours hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ കൈവശം വല്ലതും ഉണ്ടോ? ഒരഞ്ചപ്പം അല്ലെങ്കിൽ തൽക്കാലം കൈവശമുള്ളതെന്തെങ്കിലും എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.അതിന്നു പുരോഹിതൻ ദാവീദിനോടു: വിശുദ്ധമായ അപ്പം അല്ലാതെ സാമാന്യമായതു കൈവശം ഇല്ല; ബാല്യക്കാർ സ്ത്രീകളോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ തരാമെന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Truthfully women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.ദാവീദ് പുരോഹിതനോടു: ഈ മൂന്നു ദിവസമായി സ്ത്രീകൾ ഞങ്ങളോടു അകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതു ഒരു സാമാന്യയാത്ര എങ്കിലും ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെടുമ്പേൾ തന്നേ ബാല്യക്കാരുടെ യാത്രക്കോപ്പുകൾ ശുദ്ധമായിരുന്നു; ഇന്നോ അവരുടെ കോപ്പുകൾ എത്ര അധികം ശുദ്ധമായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the showbread, that was taken from before the LORD, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.അങ്ങനെ പുരോഹിതൻ അവന്നു വിശുദ്ധമായ അപ്പം കൊടുത്തു; അപ്പം മാറ്റുന്ന ദിവസം ചൂടുള്ള അപ്പം വെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിന്നു നീക്കിയ കാഴ്ചയപ്പം അല്ലാതെ അവിടെ വേറെ അപ്പം ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.

Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the LORD; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.എന്നാൽ അന്നു ശൌലിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരിൽ ദോവേഗ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു എദോമ്യനെ അവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ അടെച്ചിട്ടിരുന്നു; അവൻ ശൌലിന്റെ ഇടയന്മാർക്കു പ്രമാണി ആയിരുന്നു.

And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under yours hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste.ദാവീദ് അഹീമേലെക്കിനോടു: ഇവിടെ നിന്റെ കൈവശം കുന്തമോ വാളോ ഉണ്ടോ? രാജാവിന്റെ കാര്യം തിടുക്കമായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ എന്റെ വാളും ആയുധങ്ങളും കൊണ്ടുപോന്നില്ല, എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you slew in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if you will take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.അപ്പോൾ പുരോഹിതൻ: ഏലാ താഴ്വരയിൽവെച്ചു നീ കൊന്ന ഫെലിസ്ത്യനായ ഗൊല്യാത്തിന്റെ വാൾ ഏഫോദിന്റെ പുറകിൽ ഒരു ശീലയിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞു വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതു വേണമെങ്കിൽ എടുത്തുകൊൾക; അതല്ലാതെ വേറെ ഒന്നുമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു തുല്യം മറ്റൊന്നുമില്ല; അതു എനിക്കു തരേണം എന്നു ദാവീദ് പറഞ്ഞു.

And David arose and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.പിന്നെ ദാവീദ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു അന്നു തന്നേ ശൌലിന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഗത്ത്‌രാജാവായ ആഖീശിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഓടിച്ചെന്നു.

And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?എന്നാൽ ആഖീശിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ അവനോടു: ഇവൻ ദേശത്തിലെ രാജാവായ ദാവീദ് അല്ലയോ? ശൌൽ ആയിരത്തെ കൊന്നു ദാവീദോ പതിനായിരത്തെ എന്നു അവർ നൃത്തങ്ങളിൽ ഗാനപ്രതിഗാനം ചെയ്തതു ഇവനെക്കുറിച്ചല്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.ദാവീദ് ഈ വാക്കുകളെ മനസ്സിലാക്കീട്ടു ഗത്ത് രാജാവായ ആഖീശിനെ ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.

And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scratch on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.അവരുടെ മുമ്പാകെ തന്റെ പ്രകൃതി മാറ്റി, അവരുടെ കൈകളിൽ ഇരിക്കെ ബുദ്ധിഭ്രമം നടിച്ചു വാതിലിന്റെ കതകുകളിൽ വരെച്ചു താടിമേൽ തുപ്പൽ ഒലിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, all of you see the man is mad: wherefore then have all of you brought him to me?ആഖീശ് തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ ഭ്രാന്തൻ എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നില്ലയോ? അവനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതു എന്തിന്നു?

Have I need of mad men, that all of you have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഭ്രാന്തു കളിപ്പാൻ ഇവനെ കൊണ്ടുവരേണ്ടതിന്നു എനിക്കു ഇവിടെ ഭ്രാന്തന്മാർ കുറവുണ്ടോ? എന്റെ അരമനയിലോ ഇവൻ വരേണ്ടതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

1 Samuel 22

David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് അവിടം വിട്ടു അദുല്ലാംഗുഹയിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോയി; അവന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും അവന്റെ പിതൃഭവനമൊക്കെയും അതു കേട്ടു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.ഞെരുക്കമുള്ളവർ, കടമുള്ളവർ, സന്തുഷ്ടിയില്ലാത്തവർ എന്നീവകക്കാർ ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നുകൂടി; അവൻ അവർക്കു തലവനായിത്തീർന്നു; അവനോടുകൂടെ ഏകദേശം നാനൂറുപേർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray you, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.അനന്തരം ദാവീദ് അവിടം വിട്ടു മോവാബിലെ മിസ്പയിൽ ചെന്നു, മോവാബ്‌രാജാവിനോടു: ദൈവം എനിക്കു വേണ്ടി എന്തുചെയ്യും എന്നു അറിയുവോളം എന്റെ അപ്പനും അമ്മയും നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു പാർപ്പാൻ അനുവദിക്കേണമേ എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.അവൻ അവരെ മോവാബ്‌രാജാവിന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു; ദാവീദ് ദുർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ താമസിച്ച കാലമൊക്കെയും അവർ അവിടെ പാർത്തു.

And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get you into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.എന്നാൽ ഗാദ്പ്രവാചകൻ ദാവീദിനോടു: ദുർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ പാർക്കാതെ യെഹൂദാദേശത്തേക്കു പൊയ്ക്കൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഹേരെത്ത് കാട്ടിൽവന്നു.

When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)ദാവീദിനെയും കൂടെയുള്ളവരെയും കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശൌൽ കേട്ടു; അന്നു ശൌൽ കയ്യിൽ കുന്തവുമായി ഗിബെയയിലെ കുന്നിന്മേലുള്ള പിചുലവൃക്ഷത്തിൻ ചുവട്ടിൽ ഇരിക്കയായിരുന്നു; അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ എല്ലാവരും അവന്റെ ചുറ്റും നിന്നിരുന്നു.

Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, all of you Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;ശൌൽ ചുറ്റും നില്ക്കുന്ന തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: ബെന്യാമീന്യരേ, കേട്ടുകൊൾവിൻ; യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കൊക്കെയും നിലങ്ങളും മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളും തന്നു നിങ്ങളെ എല്ലാവരെയും സഹസ്രാധിപന്മാരും ശതാധിപന്മാരും ആക്കുമോ?

That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that shows me that my son has made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or shows unto me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ മകൻ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകനോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തതു എന്നെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്റെ മകൻ എന്റെ ദാസനെ ഇന്നു എനിക്കായി പതിയിരിപ്പാൻ ഉത്സാഹിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതിങ്കൽ മനസ്താപമുള്ളവരോ അതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു എനിക്കു അറിവു തരുന്നവരോ നിങ്ങളിൽ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ലല്ലോ.

Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.അപ്പോൾ ശൌലിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ നിന്നിരുന്ന എദോമ്യനായ ദോവേഗ്: നോബിൽ അഹീതൂബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹീമേലക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകൻ വന്നതു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു.

And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.അവൻ അവന്നുവേണ്ടി യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചു, അവന്നു ഭക്ഷണസാധനവും ഫെലിസ്ത്യനായ ഗൊല്യാത്തിന്റെ വാളും കൊടുത്തു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.ഉടനെ രാജാവു അഹീതൂബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹീമേലെക്ക് പുരോഹിതനെയും അവന്റെ പിതൃഭവനക്കാരായ നോബിലെ സകല പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും വിളിപ്പിച്ചു; അവർ എല്ലാവരും രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു.

And Saul said, Hear now, you son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.അപ്പോൾ ശൌൽ: അഹീതൂബിന്റെ മകനേ, കേൾക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. തിരുമേനീ, അടിയൻ എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And Saul said unto him, Why have all of you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?ശൌൽ അവനോടു: യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകൻ ഇന്നു എനിക്കായി പതിയിരിപ്പാൻ തുനിയത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവന്നു അപ്പവും വാളും കൊടുക്കയും അവന്നു വേണ്ടി ദൈവത്തോടു ചോദിക്കയും ചെയ്തതിനാൽ നീയും അവനും എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കിയതു എന്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, which is the king's son in law, and goes at your bidding, and is honourable in yours house?അഹീമേലെക്ക് രാജാവിനോടു: തിരുമനസ്സിലെ സകലഭൃത്യന്മാരിലും വെച്ചു ദാവീദിനോളം വിശ്വസ്തൻ ആരുള്ളു? അവൻ രാജാവിന്റെ മരുമകനും അവിടത്തെ ആലോചനയിൽ ചേരുന്നവനും രാജധാനിയിൽ മാന്യനും ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.അവന്നു വേണ്ടി ദൈവത്തോടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോഴോ തുടങ്ങിയതു? അങ്ങനെയല്ല. രാജാവു അടിയന്റെമേലും അടിയന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്മേലും കുറ്റം ഒന്നും ചുമത്തരുതേ; അടിയൻ ഇതിലെങ്ങും യാതൊന്നും അറിഞ്ഞവനല്ല എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And the king said, You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you, and all your father's house.അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു: അഹീമേലെക്കേ, നീ മരിക്കേണം; നീയും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനമൊക്കെയും തന്നെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.പിന്നെ രാജാവു അരികെ നില്ക്കുന്ന അകമ്പടികളോടു: ചെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുവിൻ; അവരും ദാവീദിനോടു ചേർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ ഓടിപ്പോയതു അവർ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും എന്നെ അയിറിച്ചില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ യഹോവയുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ കൈ നീട്ടുന്നതിന്നു രാജാവിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ തുനിഞ്ഞില്ല.

And the king said to Doeg, Turn you, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.അപ്പോൾ രാജാവു ദോവേഗിനോടു: നീ ചെന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ കൊല്ലുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. എദോമ്യനായ ദോവേഗ് ചെന്നു പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ വെട്ടി പഞ്ഞിനൂൽകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഏഫോദ് ധരിച്ച എണ്പത്തഞ്ചുപേരെ അന്നു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.

And Nob, the city of the priests, stroke he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and infants, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.പുരോഹിതനഗരമായ നോബിന്റെ പുരുഷന്മാർ, സ്ത്രീകൾ, ബാലന്മാർ, ശിശുക്കൾ, കാള, കഴുത, ആടു എന്നിങ്ങനെ ആസകലം വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ അവൻ സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.എന്നാൽ അഹീതൂബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹീമേലെക്കിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ അബ്യാഥാർ എന്നൊരുത്തൻ തെറ്റിയൊഴിഞ്ഞു ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഓടിപ്പോയി.

And Abiathar showed David that Saul had slain the LORD's priests.ശൌൽ യഹോവയുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരെ കൊന്ന വിവരം അബ്യാഥാർ ദാവീദിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.

And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of your father's house.ദാവീദ് അബ്യാഥാരിനോടു: എദോമ്യനായ ദോവേഗ് അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ശൌലിനോടു അറിയിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ അന്നു തന്നേ നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.

Abide you with me, fear not: for he that seeks my life seeks your life: but with me you shall be in safeguard.നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിന്നൊക്കെയും ഞാൻ മരണത്തിന്നു കാരണമായല്ലോ. എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ പാർക്ക; ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; എനിക്കു ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നവൻ നിനക്കും ജീവഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ നോക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിനക്കു നിർഭയവാസം ഉണ്ടാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshing floors.അനന്തരം ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ കെയീലയുടെ നേരെ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നും അവർ കളങ്ങളിൽ കവർച്ച ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നും ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടി.

Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and strike these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and strike the Philistines, and save Keilah.ദാവീദ് യഹോവയോടു; ഞാൻ ഈ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ ചെന്നു തോല്പിക്കേണമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. യഹോവ ദാവീദിനോടു: ചെന്നു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചു കെയീലയെ രക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

And David's men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?എന്നാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ ആളുകൾ അവനോടു: നാം ഇവിടെ യെഹൂദയിൽ തന്നേ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു പാർക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; പിന്നെ കെയീലയിൽ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ സൈന്യത്തിന്റെ നേരെ എങ്ങനെ ചെല്ലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into yours hand.ദാവീദ് വീണ്ടും യഹോവയോടു ചോദിച്ചു. യഹോവ അവനോടു: എഴുന്നേറ്റു കെയീലയിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുക; ഞാൻ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and stroke them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും കെയീലയിലേക്കു പോയി ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടു പൊരുതു അവരുടെ ആടുമാടുകളെ അപഹരിച്ചു അവരെ കഠനിമായി തോല്പിച്ചു കെയീലാനിവാസികളെ രക്ഷിച്ചു.

And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God has delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that has gates and bars.ദാവീദ് കെയീലയിൽ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശൌലിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടി; ദൈവം അവനെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; വാതിലും ഓടാമ്പലും ഉള്ള പട്ടണത്തിൽ കടന്നിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു അവൻ കുടുങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ശൌൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.പിന്നെ ശൌൽ ദാവീദിനേയും അവന്റെ ആളുകളെയും വളയേണ്ടതിന്നു കെയീലയിലേക്കു പോകുവാൻ സകലജനത്തേയും യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി.

And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring here the ephod.ശൌൽ തന്റെ നേരെ ദോഷം ആലോചിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ദാവീദ് അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ പുരോഹിതനായ അബ്യാഥാരിനോടു: ഏഫോദ് ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.പിന്നെ ദാവീദ്: യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേ, ശൌൽ കെയീലയിലേക്കു വന്നു എന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഈ പട്ടണം നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ പോകുന്നു എന്നു അടിയൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? O LORD God of Israel, I plead to you, tell your servant. Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver you up.ദാവീദ് പിന്നെയും: കെയീലപൌരന്മാർ എന്നെയും എന്റെ ആളുകളെയും ശൌലിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കുമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അവർ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went anywhere they could go. And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.തന്റെ ജീവനെ തേടി ശൌൽ പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ദാവീദ് കണ്ടു; അന്നു ദാവീദ് സീഫ് മരുഭൂമിയിലെ ഒരു കാട്ടിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.

And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.അനന്തരം ശൌലിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാഥാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ആ കാട്ടിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അവനെ ദൈവത്തിൽ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തി അവനോടു: ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ,

And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you; and you shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto you; and that also Saul my father knows.എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൌലിന്നു നിന്നെ പിടികിട്ടുകയില്ല; നീ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവാകും; അന്നു ഞാൻ നിനക്കു രണ്ടാമനും ആയിരിക്കും; അതു എന്റെ അപ്പനായ ശൌലും അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.ഇങ്ങനെ അവർ തമ്മിൽ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്തു; ദാവീദ് കാട്ടിൽ താമസിക്കയും യോനാഥാൻ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പോകയും ചെയ്തു.

Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?അനന്തരം സീഫ്യർ ഗിബെയയിൽ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: ദാവീദ് ഞങ്ങളുടെ സമീപം മരുഭൂമിക്കു തെക്കുള്ള ഹഖീലാമലയിലെ വനദുർഗ്ഗങ്ങളിൽ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king's hand.ആകയാൽ രാജാവേ, തിരുമനസ്സിലെ ആഗ്രഹംപോലെ വന്നുകൊള്ളേണം; അവനെ രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരുന്ന കാര്യം ഞങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Saul said, Blessed be all of you of the LORD; for all of you have compassion on me.അതിന്നു ശൌൽ പറഞ്ഞതു: നിങ്ങൾക്കു എന്നോടു മനസ്സലിവു തോന്നിയിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയാൽ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടവർ.

Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there: for it is told me that he deals very subtlely.നിങ്ങൾ പോയി ഇനിയും സൂക്ഷ്മമായി അന്വേഷിച്ചു അവന്റെ സഞ്ചാരം എവിടെയൊക്കെ ആകുന്നു എന്നും അവിടങ്ങളിൽ അവനെ കണ്ടവർ ആരെല്ലാമെന്നും അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ; അവൻ വലിയ ഉപായി ആകുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides himself, and come all of you again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah.ആകയാൽ അവൻ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഒളിപ്പിടങ്ങളെല്ലാം കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞുവന്നു സൂക്ഷ്മവിവരം എന്നെ അറിയിപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പോരും; അവൻ ദേശത്തു എങ്ങാനും ഉണ്ടെന്നു വരികിൽ ഞാൻ അവനെ യെഹൂദാസഹസ്രങ്ങളിലൊക്കെയും അന്വേഷിച്ചു പിടിക്കും.

And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.അങ്ങനെ അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശൌലിന്നു മുമ്പെ സീഫിലേക്കു പോയി; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും മരുഭൂമിയുടെ തെക്കു അരാബയിലെ മാവോൻ മരുവിൽ ആയിരുന്നു.

Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David; wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.ശൌലും അവന്റെ പടജ്ജനവും അവനെ തിരയുവാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു. അതു ദാവീദിന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ മാവോൻ മരുവിലെ സേലയിൽ ചെന്നു താമസിച്ചു. ശൌൽ അതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ മാവോൻ മരുവിൽ ദാവീദിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നു.

And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.ശൌൽ പർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ ഇപ്പുറത്തും ദാവീദും ആളുകളും പർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ അപ്പുറത്തുംകൂടി നടന്നു; ശൌലിനെ ഒഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുവാൻ ദാവീദ് ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു; ശൌലും പടജ്ജനവും ദാവീദിനെയും അവന്റെ ആളുകളെയും വളഞ്ഞുപിടിപ്പാൻ അടുത്തു.

But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste you, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land.അപ്പോൾ ശൌലിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരു ദൂതൻ വന്നു: ക്ഷണം വരേണം; ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ ദേശത്തെ ആക്രമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth.ഉടനെ ശൌൽ ദാവീദിനെ പിന്തുടരുന്നതു വിട്ടു ഫെലിസ്ത്യരുടെ നേരെ പോയി; ആകയാൽ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു സേലഹമ്മാഹ്ളെക്കോത്ത് എന്നു പേരായി.

And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.ദാവീദോ അവിടം വിട്ടു കയറിപ്പോയി ഏൻ-ഗെദിയിലെ ദുർഗ്ഗങ്ങളിൽ ചെന്നു പാർത്തു.

1 Samuel 24

And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi.ശൌൽ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരെ ഓടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞിട്ടു മടങ്ങിവന്നപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് ഏൻ- ഗെദിമരുഭൂമിയിൽ ഉണ്ടെന്നു അവന്നു അറിവു കിട്ടി.

Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.അപ്പോൾ ശൌൽ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരുന്ന മൂവായിരംപേരെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ദാവീദിനെയും അവന്റെ ആളുകളെയും തിരയുവാൻ കാട്ടാട്ടിൻ പാറകളിൽ ചെന്നു.

And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.അവൻ വഴിയരികെയുള്ള ആട്ടിൻ തൊഴുത്തിങ്കൽ എത്തി; അവിടെ ഒരു ഗുഹ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ശൌൽ കാൽമടക്കത്തിന്നു അതിൽ കടന്നു; എന്നാൽ ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും ഗുഹയുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്നു.

And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto you, Behold, I will deliver yours enemy into yours hand, that you may do to him as it shall seem good unto you. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privately.ദാവീദിന്റെ ആളുകൾ അവനോടു: ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ശത്രുവിനെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും; നിനക്കു ബോധിച്ചതുപോലെ അവനോടു ചെയ്യാം എന്നു യഹോവ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ദിവസം ഇതാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശൌലിന്റെ മേലങ്കിയുടെ അറ്റം പതുക്കെ മുറിച്ചെടുത്തു.

And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart stroke him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.ശൌലിന്റെ വസ്ത്രാഗ്രം മുറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു പിന്നത്തേതിൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ മനസ്സാക്ഷി കുത്തിത്തുടങ്ങി.

And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD's anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.അവൻ തന്റെ ആളുകളോടു: യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനായ എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ നേരെ കയ്യെടുക്കുന്നതായ ഈ കാര്യം ചെയ്‍വാൻ യഹോവ എനിക്കു ഇടവരുത്തരുതേ; അവൻ യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.ഇങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ ആളുകളെ ശാസിച്ചു അമർത്തി; ശൌലിനെ ദ്രോഹിപ്പാൻ അവരെ അനുവദിച്ചതുമില്ല. ശൌൽ ഗുഹയിൽനിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തന്റെ വഴിക്കുപോയി.

David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.ദാവീദും എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഗുഹയിൽനിന്നു പുറത്തിറങ്ങി ശൌലിനോടു: എന്റെ യജമാനനായ രാജാവേ എന്നു വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു. ശൌൽ തിരിഞ്ഞുനോക്കിയപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.

And David said to Saul, Wherefore hear you men's words, saying, Behold, David seeks your hurt?ദാവീദ് ശൌലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: ദാവീദ് നിനക്കു ദോഷം വിചാരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നവരുടെ വാക്കു നീ കേൾക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

Behold, this day yours eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered you to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill you: but mine eye spared you; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD's anointed.യഹോവ ഇന്നു ഗുഹയിൽവെച്ചു നിന്നെ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു എന്നു നിന്റെ കണ്ണാലെ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ; നിന്നെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ ചിലർ പറഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും ഞാൻ ചെയ്തില്ല; എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ നേരെ ഞാൻ കയ്യെടുക്കയില്ല; അവൻ യഹോവയുടെ അഭിഷിക്തനല്ലോ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of your robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of your robe, and killed you not, know you and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against you; yet you hunt my soul to take it.എന്റെ പിതാവേ, കാൺക, എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്റെ മേലങ്കിയുടെ അറ്റം ഇതാ കാൺക; നിന്റെ മേലങ്കിയുടെ അറ്റം ഞാൻ മുറിക്കയും നിന്നെ കൊല്ലാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതിനാൽ എന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ദോഷവും ദ്രോഹവും ഇല്ല; ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിട്ടുമില്ല എന്നു കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾക. നീയോ എനിക്കു പ്രാണഹാനി വരുത്തുവാൻ തേടിനടക്കുന്നു.

The LORD judge between me and you, and the LORD avenge me of you: but mine hand shall not be upon you.യഹോവ എനിക്കും നിനക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ ന്യായം വിധിക്കട്ടെ; യഹോവ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി നിന്നോടു പ്രതികാരം ചെയ്യട്ടെ; എന്നാൽ എന്റെ കൈ നിന്റെമേൽ വീഴുകയില്ല.

As says the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceeds from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon you.ദുഷ്ടത ദുഷ്ടനിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നല്ലോ പഴഞ്ചൊൽ പറയുന്നതു; എന്നാൽ എന്റെ കൈ നിന്റെമേൽ വീഴുകയില്ല.

After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom do you pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.ആരെ തേടിയാകുന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു പുറപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു? ആരെയാകുന്നു പിന്തുടരുന്നതു? ഒരു ചത്തനായെ, ഒരു ചെള്ളിനെ അല്ലയോ?

The LORD therefore be judge, and judge between me and you, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of yours hand.ആകയാൽ യഹോവ ന്യായാധിപനായി എനിക്കും നിനക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ ന്യായം വിധിക്കയും എന്റെ കാര്യം നോക്കി വ്യവഹരിച്ചു എന്നെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമാറാകട്ടെ.

And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this your voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.ദാവീദ് ശൌലിനോടു ഈ വാക്കുകൾ സംസാരിച്ചു തീർന്നശേഷം ശൌൽ: എന്റെ മകനേ, ദാവീദേ, ഇതു നിന്റെ ശബ്ദമോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

And he said to David, You are more righteous than I: for you have rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded you evil.പിന്നെ അവൻ ദാവീദിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: നീ എന്നെക്കാൾ നീതിമാൻ; ഞാൻ നിനക്കു തിന്മചെയ്തതിന്നു നീ എനിക്കു നന്മ പകരം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

And you have showed this day how that you have dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into yours hand, you killed me not.യഹോവ എന്നെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചാറെയും നീ എന്നെ കൊല്ലാതെ വിട്ടതിനാൽ നീ എനിക്കു ഗുണം ചെയ്തതായി ഇന്നു കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward you good for that you have done unto me this day.ശത്രുവിനെ കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയാൽ ആരെങ്കിലും അവനെ വെറുതെ വിട്ടയക്കുമോ? നീ ഇന്നു എനിക്കു ചെയ്തതിന്നു യഹോവ നിനക്കു നന്മ പകരം ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

And now, behold, I know well that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in yours hand.എന്നാൽ നീ രാജാവാകും; യിസ്രായേൽരാജത്വം നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ സ്ഥിരമാകും എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.

Swear now therefore unto me by the LORD, that you will not cut off my seed after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father's house.ആകയാൽ നീ എന്റെ ശേഷം എന്റെ സന്തതിയെ നിർമ്മൂലമാക്കി എന്റെ പേർ എന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിൽ നിന്നു മായിച്ചുകളകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ ഇപ്പോൾ എന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്യേണം.

And David swore unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men got them up unto the hold.അങ്ങനെ ദാവീദ് ശൌലിനോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു; ശൌൽ അരമനയിലേക്കു പോയി; ദാവീദും അവന്റെ ആളുകളും ദുർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കും പോയി.
