Proverbs 31

The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.ലെമൂവേൽരാജാവിന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ; അവന്റെ അമ്മ അവന്നു ഉപദേശിച്ചു കൊടുത്ത അരുളപ്പാടു.

What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?മകനേ, എന്തു? ഞാൻ പ്രസവിച്ച മകനേ എന്തു? എന്റെ നേർച്ചകളുടെ മകനേ, എന്തു?

Give not your strength unto women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.സ്ത്രീകൾക്കു നിന്റെ ബലത്തെയും രാജാക്കന്മാരെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നവർക്കു നിന്റെ വഴികളെയും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:വീഞ്ഞു കുടിക്കുന്നതു രാജാക്കന്മാർക്കു കൊള്ളരുതു; ലെമൂവേലേ, രാജാക്കന്മാർക്കു അതു കൊള്ളരുതു; മദ്യസക്തി പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർക്കു കൊള്ളരുതു.

Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.അവർ കുടിച്ചിട്ടു നിയമം മറന്നുപോകുവാനും അരിഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ ന്യായം മറിച്ചുകളവാനും ഇടവരരുതു.

Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.നശിക്കുമാറായിരിക്കുന്നവന്നു മദ്യവും മനോവ്യസനമുള്ളവന്നു വീഞ്ഞും കൊടുക്ക.

Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.അവൻ കുടിച്ചിട്ടു തന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം മറക്കയും തന്റെ അരിഷ്ടത ഓർക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യട്ടെ.

Open your mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.ഊമന്നു വേണ്ടി നിന്റെ വായ് തുറക്ക; ക്ഷയിച്ചുപോകുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും കാര്യത്തിൽ തന്നേ.

Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.നിന്റെ വായ് തുറന്നു നീതിയോടെ ന്യായം വിധിക്ക; എളിയവന്നും ദരിദ്രന്നും ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തുകൊടുക്ക.

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.സാമർത്ഥ്യമുള്ള ഭാര്യയെ ആർക്കു കിട്ടും? അവളുടെ വില മുത്തുകളിലും ഏറും.

The heart of her husband does safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.ഭർത്താവിന്റെ ഹൃദയം അവളെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ലാഭത്തിന്നു ഒരു കുറവുമില്ല.

She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.അവൾ തന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലമൊക്കെയും അവന്നു തിന്മയല്ല നന്മ തന്നേ ചെയ്യുന്നു.

She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands.അവൾ ആട്ടുരോമവും ചണവും സമ്പാദിച്ചു താല്പര്യത്തോടെ കൈകൊണ്ടു വേലചെയ്യുന്നു.

She is like the merchants' ships; she brings her food from far.അവൾ കച്ചവടക്കപ്പൽ പോലെയാകുന്നു; ദൂരത്തുനിന്നു ആഹാരം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു.

She rises also while it is yet night, and gives food to her household, and a portion to her maidens.അവൾ നന്നരാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റു, വീട്ടിലുള്ളവർക്കു ആഹാരവും വേലക്കാരത്തികൾക്കു ഓഹരിയും കൊടുക്കുന്നു.

She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.അവൾ ഒരു നിലത്തിന്മേൽ ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചു അതു മേടിക്കുന്നു; കൈനേട്ടംകൊണ്ടു അവൾ ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

She girds her loins with strength, and strengthens her arms.അവൾ ബലംകൊണ്ടു അര മുറക്കുകയും ഭുജങ്ങളെ ശക്തീകരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

She perceives that her merchandise is good: her candle goes not out by night.തന്റെ വ്യാപാരം ആദായമുള്ളതെന്നു അവൾ ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു; അവളുടെ വിളക്കു രാത്രിയിൽ കെട്ടുപോകുന്നതുമില്ല.

She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.അവൾ വിടുത്തലെക്കു കൈ നീട്ടുന്നു; അവളുടെ വിരൽ കതിർ പിടിക്കുന്നു.

She stretches out her hand to the poor; yea, she reachs forth her hands to the needy.അവൾ തന്റെ കൈ എളിയവർക്കു തുറക്കുന്നു; ദരിദ്രന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു കൈ നീട്ടുന്നു.

She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.തന്റെ വീട്ടുകാരെച്ചൊല്ലി അവൾ ഹിമത്തെ പേടിക്കുന്നില്ല; അവളുടെ വീട്ടിലുള്ളവർക്കൊക്കെയും ചുവപ്പു കമ്പളി ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.

She makes herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.അവൾ തനിക്കു പരവതാനി ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു; ശണപടവും ധൂമ്രവസ്ത്രവും അവളുടെ ഉടുപ്പു.

Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.ദേശത്തിലെ മൂപ്പന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവളുടെ ഭർത്താവു പട്ടണവാതിൽക്കൽ പ്രസിദ്ധനാകുന്നു.

She makes fine linen, and sells it; and delivers girdles unto the merchant.അവൾ ശണവസ്ത്രം ഉണ്ടാക്കി വില്ക്കുന്നു; അരക്കച്ച ഉണ്ടാക്കി കച്ചവടക്കാരനെ ഏല്പിക്കുന്നു.

Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.ബലവും മഹിമയും അവളുടെ ഉടുപ്പു; ഭാവികാലം ഓർത്തു അവൾ പുഞ്ചിരിയിടുന്നു.

She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.അവൾ ജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ വായ് തുറക്കുന്നു; ദയയുള്ള ഉപദേശം അവളുടെ നാവിന്മേൽ ഉണ്ടു.

She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness.വീട്ടുകാരുടെ പെരുമാറ്റം അവൾ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു നോക്കുന്നു; വെറുതെ ഇരുന്നു അഹോവൃത്തി കഴിക്കുന്നില്ല.

Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.അവളുടെ മക്കൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവളെ ഭാഗ്യവതി എന്നു പുകഴ്ത്തുന്നു; അവളുടെ ഭർത്താവും അവളെ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നതു:

Many daughters have done virtuously, but you excel them all.അനേകം തരുണികൾ സാമർത്ഥ്യം കാണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടു; നീയോ അവരെല്ലാവരിലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠയായിരിക്കുന്നു.

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the LORD, she shall be praised.ലാവണ്യം വ്യാജവും സൌന്ദര്യം വ്യർത്ഥവും ആകുന്നു; യഹോവാഭക്തിയുള്ള സ്ത്രീയോ പ്രശംസിക്കപ്പെടും.

Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.അവളുടെ കൈകളുടെ ഫലം അവൾക്കു കൊടുപ്പിൻ; അവളുടെ സ്വന്തപ്രവൃത്തികൾ പട്ടണവാതിൽക്കൽ അവളെ പ്രശംസിക്കട്ടെ.

Ecclesiastes 1

The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.യെരൂശലേമിലെ രാജാവായി ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ സഭാപ്രസംഗിയുടെ വചനങ്ങൾ.

Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.ഹാ മായ, മായ എന്നു സഭാപ്രസംഗി പറയുന്നു; ഹാ മായ, മായ, സകലവും മായയത്രേ.

What profit has a man of all his labour which he takes under the sun?സൂര്യന്നു കീഴിൽ പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്ന സകലപ്രയത്നത്താലും മനുഷ്യന്നു എന്തു ലാഭം?

One generation passes away, and another generation comes: but the earth abides for ever.ഒരു തലമുറ പോകുന്നു; മറ്റൊരു തലമുറ വരുന്നു;

The sun also arises, and the sun goes down, and hastes to his place where he arose.ഭൂമിയോ എന്നേക്കും നില്ക്കുന്നു; സൂര്യൻ ഉദിക്കുന്നു; സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുന്നു; ഉദിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു തന്നേ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെല്ലുന്നു.

The wind goes toward the south, and turns about unto the north; it whirls about continually, and the wind returns again according to his circuits.കാറ്റു തെക്കോട്ടു ചെന്നു വടക്കോട്ടു ചുറ്റിവരുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ കാറ്റു ചുറ്റിച്ചുറ്റി തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു പരിവർത്തനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.സകലനദികളും സമുദ്രത്തിലേക്കു ഒഴുകിവീഴുന്നു; എന്നിട്ടും സമുദ്രം നിറയുന്നില്ല; നദികൾ ഒഴുകിവീഴുന്ന ഇടത്തേക്കു പിന്നെയും പിന്നെയും ചെല്ലുന്നു.

All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.സകലകാര്യങ്ങളും ശ്രമാവഹങ്ങളാകുന്നു; മനുഷ്യൻ പറഞ്ഞാൽ തീരുകയില്ല; കണ്ടിട്ടു കണ്ണിന്നു തൃപ്തി വരുന്നില്ല; കേട്ടിട്ടു ചെവി നിറയുന്നതുമില്ല.

The thing that has been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതു ഉണ്ടാകുവാനുള്ളതും, ചെയ്തുകഴിഞ്ഞതു ചെയ്‍വാനുള്ളതും ആകുന്നു; സൂര്യന്നു കീഴിൽ പുതുതായി യാതൊന്നും ഇല്ല.

Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it has been already of old time, which was before us.ഇതു പുതിയതു എന്നു പറയത്തക്കവണ്ണം വല്ലതും ഉണ്ടോ? നമുക്കു മുമ്പെ, പണ്ടത്തെ കാലത്തു തന്നേ അതുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.പുരാതന ജനത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഓർമ്മയില്ലല്ലോ; വരുവാനുള്ളവരെക്കുറിച്ചു പിന്നത്തേതിൽ വരുവാനുള്ളവർക്കും ഓർമ്മയുണ്ടാകയില്ല.

I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.സഭാപ്രസംഗിയായ ഞാൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായിരുന്നു.

And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail has God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴിൽ സംഭവിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ ആരാഞ്ഞറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ മനസ്സുവെച്ചു; ഇതു ദൈവം മനുഷ്യർക്കു കഷ്ടപ്പെടുവാൻ കൊടുത്ത വല്ലാത്ത കഷ്ടപ്പാടു തന്നേ.

I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ നടക്കുന്ന സകല പ്രവൃത്തികളും ഞാൻ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു; അവയൊക്കെയും മായയും വൃഥാപ്രയത്നവും അത്രേ.

That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is lacking cannot be numbered.വളവുള്ളതു നേരെ ആക്കുവാൻ വഹിയാ; കുറവുള്ളതു എണ്ണിത്തികെപ്പാനും വഹിയാ.

I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have got more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.ഞാൻ മനസ്സിൽ ആലോചിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: യെരൂശലേമിൽ എനിക്കു മുമ്പുണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാവരെക്കാളും അധികം ജ്ഞാനം ഞാൻ സമ്പാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ഹൃദയം ജ്ഞാനവും അറിവും ധാരാളം പ്രാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.ജ്ഞാനം ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും ഭ്രാന്തും ഭോഷത്വവും അറിവാനും ഞാൻ മനസ്സുവെച്ചു; ഇതും വൃഥാപ്രയത്നമെന്നു കണ്ടു.

For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increases knowledge increases sorrow.ജ്ഞാനബാഹുല്യത്തിൽ വ്യസനബാഹുല്യം ഉണ്ടു; അറിവു വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നവൻ ദുഃഖവും വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

Ecclesiastes 2

I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove you with delight, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.ഞാൻ എന്നോടു തന്നേ പറഞ്ഞു: വരിക; ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സന്തോഷംകൊണ്ടു പരീക്ഷിക്കും; സുഖം അനുഭവിച്ചുകൊൾക.

I said of laughter, It is mad: and of delight, What does it?എന്നാൽ അതും മായ തന്നേ. ഞാൻ ചിരിയെക്കുറിച്ചു അതു ഭ്രാന്തു എന്നും സന്തോഷത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അതുകൊണ്ടെന്തു ഫലം എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു.

I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.മനുഷ്യർക്കു ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴെ ജീവപര്യന്തം ചെയ്‍വാൻ നല്ലതു ഏതെന്നു ഞാൻ കാണുവോളം എന്റെ ഹൃദയം എന്നെ ജ്ഞാനത്തോടെ നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കെ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ ദേഹത്തെ വീഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു സന്തോഷിപ്പിപ്പാനും ഭോഷത്വം പിടിച്ചു കൊൾവാനും എന്റെ മനസ്സിൽ നിരൂപിച്ചു.

I made me great works; I built me houses; I planted me vineyards:ഞാൻ മഹാപ്രവൃത്തികളെ ചെയ്തു; എനിക്കു അരമനകളെ പണിതു; മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി.

I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:ഞാൻ തോട്ടങ്ങളെയും ഉദ്യാനങ്ങളെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കി; അവയിൽ സകലവിധ ഫലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെയും നട്ടു.

I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that brings forth trees:വൃക്ഷം വെച്ചുപിടിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന തോപ്പു നനെപ്പാൻ കുളങ്ങളും കുഴിപ്പിച്ചു.

I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:ഞാൻ ദാസന്മാരെയും ദാസിമാരെയും വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി; വീട്ടിൽ ജനിച്ച ദാസന്മാരും എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; യെരൂശലേമിൽ എനിക്കുമുമ്പു ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഏവരിലും അധികം ആടുമാടുകളായ ബഹുസമ്പത്തു എനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

I gathered me also silver and gold, and the exclusive treasure of kings and of the provinces: I got me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.ഞാൻ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും രാജാക്കന്മാർക്കും സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾക്കും ഉള്ള ഭണ്ഡാരവും സ്വരൂപിച്ചു; സംഗീതക്കാരെയും സംഗീതക്കാരത്തികളെയും മനുഷ്യരുടെ പ്രമോദമായ അനവധി സ്ത്രീജനത്തെയും സമ്പാദിച്ചു.

So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ, എനിക്കുമുമ്പു യെരൂശലേമിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എല്ലാവരിലും മഹാനായിത്തീർന്നു അഭിവൃദ്ധി പ്രാപിച്ചു; ജ്ഞാനവും എന്നിൽ ഉറെച്ചുനിന്നു.

And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.എന്റെ കണ്ണു ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതൊന്നും ഞാൻ അതിന്നു നിഷേധിച്ചില്ല; എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു ഒരു സന്തോഷവും വിലക്കിയില്ല; എന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നവും നിമിത്തം എന്റെ ഹൃദയം സന്തോഷിച്ചു; എന്റെ സകലപ്രയത്നത്തിലും എനിക്കുണ്ടായ അനുഭവം ഇതു തന്നേ.

Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.ഞാൻ എന്റെ കൈകളുടെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളെയും ഞാൻ ചെയ്‍വാൻ ശ്രമിച്ച സകലപരിശ്രമങ്ങളെയും നോക്കി; എല്ലാം മായയും വൃഥാപ്രയത്നവും അത്രേ; സൂര്യന്റെ കീഴിൽ യാതൊരു ലാഭവും ഇല്ല എന്നു കണ്ടു.

And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what can the man do that comes after the king? even that which has been already done.ഞാൻ ജ്ഞാനവും ഭ്രാന്തും ഭോഷത്വവും നോക്കുവാൻ തിരിഞ്ഞു; രാജാവിന്റെ ശേഷം വരുന്ന മനുഷ്യൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യും? പണ്ടു ചെയ്തതു തന്നേ.

Then I saw that wisdom excels folly, as far as light excels darkness.വെളിച്ചം ഇരുളിനെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ജ്ഞാനം ഭോഷത്വത്തെക്കാൾ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു.

The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walks in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happens to them all.ജ്ഞാനിക്കു തലയിൽ കണ്ണുണ്ടു; ഭോഷൻ ഇരുട്ടിൽ നടക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ അവർക്കു എല്ലാവർക്കും ഗതി ഒന്നു തന്നേ എന്നു ഞാൻ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു.

Then said I in my heart, As it happens to the fool, so it happens even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ എന്നോടു: ഭോഷന്നും എനിക്കും ഗതി ഒന്നു തന്നേ; പിന്നെ ഞാൻ എന്തിന്നു അധികം ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഇതും മായയത്രേ എന്നു ഞാൻ മനസ്സിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

For there is no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dies the wise man? as the fool.ഭോഷനെക്കുറിച്ചാകട്ടെ ജ്ഞാനിയെക്കുറിച്ചാകട്ടെ ശാശ്വതമായ ഓർമ്മയില്ല; വരുംകാലത്തും അവരെ ഒക്കെയും മറന്നുപോകും; അയ്യോ ഭോഷൻ മരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ജ്ഞാനിയും മരിക്കുന്നു;

Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.അങ്ങനെ സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ നടക്കുന്ന കാര്യം എനിക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ ജീവനെ വെറുത്തു; എല്ലാം മായയും വൃഥാപ്രയത്നവും അത്രേ.

Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ ഞാൻ പ്രയത്നിച്ച പ്രയത്നം ഒക്കെയും ഞാൻ വെറുത്തു; എന്റെ ശേഷം വരുവാനിരിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യന്നു ഞാൻ അതു വെച്ചേക്കേണ്ടിവരുമല്ലോ.

And who knows whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have showed myself wise under the sun. This is also vanity.അവൻ ജ്ഞാനിയായിരിക്കുമോ ഭോഷനായിരിക്കുമോ? ആർക്കറിയാം? എന്തായാലും ഞാൻ സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ പ്രയത്നിച്ചതും ജ്ഞാനം വിളങ്ങിച്ചതും ആയ സകലപ്രയത്നഫലത്തിന്മേലും അവൻ അധികാരം പ്രാപിക്കും. അതും മായ അത്രേ.

Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun.ആകയാൽ സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ പ്രയത്നിച്ച സർവ്വപ്രയത്നത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ നിരാശപ്പെടുത്തുവാൻ തുടങ്ങി.

For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that has not laboured therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil.ഒരുത്തൻ ജ്ഞാനത്തോടും അറിവോടും സാമർത്ഥ്യത്തോടുംകൂടെ പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്നു; എങ്കിലും അതിൽ പ്രയത്നിക്കാത്ത ഒരുത്തന്നു അവൻ അതിനെ അവകാശമായി വെച്ചേക്കേണ്ടിവരുന്നു; അതും മായയും വലിയ തിന്മയും അത്രേ.

For what has man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he has laboured under the sun?സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്ന സകലപ്രയത്നംകൊണ്ടും ഹൃദയപരിശ്രമംകൊണ്ടും മനുഷ്യന്നു എന്തു ഫലം?

For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart takes not rest in the night. This is also vanity.അവന്റെ നാളുകൾ ഒക്കെയും ദുഃഖകരവും അവന്റെ കഷ്ടപ്പാടു വ്യസനകരവും അല്ലോ; രാത്രിയിലും അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്നു സ്വസ്ഥതയില്ല; അതും മായ അത്രേ.

There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.തിന്നു കുടിച്ചു തന്റെ പ്രയത്നത്താൽ സുഖം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നതല്ലാതെ മനുഷ്യന്നു മറ്റൊരു നന്മയുമില്ല; അതും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നുള്ളതു എന്നു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു.

For who can eat, or who else can hasten hereunto, more than I?അവൻ നല്കീട്ടല്ലാതെ ആർ ഭക്ഷിക്കും ആർ അനുഭവിക്കും?

For God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.തനിക്കു പ്രസാദമുള്ള മനുഷ്യന്നു അവൻ ജ്ഞാനവും അറിവും സന്തോഷവും കൊടുക്കുന്നു; പാപിക്കോ ദൈവം തനിക്കു പ്രസാദമുള്ളവന്നു അനുഭവമാകുവാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ധനം സമ്പാദിക്കയും സ്വരൂപിക്കയും ചെയ്‍വാനുള്ള കഷ്ടപ്പാടു കൊടുക്കുന്നു. അതും മായയും വൃഥാപ്രയത്നവും അത്രേ.
