Acts 25

Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.ഫെസ്തൊസ് സംസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ വന്നിട്ടു മൂന്നു നാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം കൈസര്യയിൽ നിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി..

Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,അപ്പോൾ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പ്രധാനികളും പൌലൊസിന്റെ നേരെ അവന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ അന്യായം ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു;

And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.ദയചെയ്തു അവനെ യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു വരുത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു അവർ പൌലൊസിന്നു പ്രതികൂലമായി അവനോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു;

But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.വഴിയിൽവെച്ചു അവനെ ഒടുക്കിക്കളവാൻ അവർ ഒരു പതിയിരിപ്പുനിർത്തി. അതിന്നു ഫെസ്തൊസ്: പൌലൊസിനെ കൈസര്യയിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ വേഗം അവിടേക്കു പോകുന്നുണ്ടു;

Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.നിങ്ങളിൽ പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ളവർ കൂടെ വന്നു ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ നേരെ അന്യായം ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ബോധിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.അവൻ ഏകദേശം എട്ടു പത്തു ദിവസം അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ താമസിച്ചശേഷം കൈസര്യക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി; പിറ്റെന്നു ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു പൌലൊസിനെ വരുത്തുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.അവൻ വന്നാറെ യെരൂശലേമിൽ നിന്നു വന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാർ ചുറ്റും നിന്നു അവന്റെ നേരെ കഠിനകുറ്റം പലതും ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.പൌലൊസോ: യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തോടാകട്ടെ ദൈവാലയത്തോടാകട്ടെ കൈസരോടാകട്ടെ ഞാൻ ഒരു കുറ്റവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പ്രതിവാദിച്ചാറെ ആ കുറ്റങ്ങളെ തെളിയിപ്പാൻ അവർക്കു കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല.

But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Will you go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?എന്നാൽ ഫെസ്തൊസ് യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ പ്രീതി സമ്പാദിപ്പാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചു പൌലൊസിനോടു: യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു ചെന്നു അവിടെ എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽവെച്ചു ഈ സംഗതികളെക്കുറിച്ചു വിസ്താരംനടപ്പാൻ നിനക്കു സമ്മതമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു പൌലൊസ് ഞാൻ കൈസരുടെ ന്യായാസനത്തിന്നു മുമ്പാകെ നില്ക്കുന്നു;

Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as you very well know.അവിടെ എന്നെ വിസ്തരിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; യെഹൂദന്മാരോടു ഞാൻ ഒരു അന്യായവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല; അതു നീയും നല്ലവണ്ണം അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.ഞാൻ അന്യായം ചെയ്തു മരണയോഗ്യമായതു വല്ലതും പ്രവൃത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ മരണശിക്ഷ ഏല്ക്കുന്നതിന്നു എനിക്കു വിരോധമില്ല. ഇവർ എന്റെനേരെ ബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന അന്യായം നേരല്ല എന്നു വരികിലോ എന്നെ അവർക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പാൻ ആർക്കും കഴിയുന്നതല്ല;

Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Have you appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shall you go.ഞാൻ കൈസരെ അഭയംചൊല്ലുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ ഫെസ്തൊസ് തന്റെ ആലോചന സഭയോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടു: കൈസരെ നീ അഭയം ചൊല്ലിയിരിക്കുന്നു; കൈസരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു നീ പോകും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.ഒട്ടുനാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം അഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവും ബെർന്നീക്കയും ഫെസ്തോസിനെ വന്ദനം ചെയ്‍വാൻ കൈസര്യയിൽ എത്തി.

And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:കുറെ നാൾ അവിടെ പാർക്കുമ്പോൾ ഫെസ്തൊസ് പൌലൊസിന്റെ സംഗതി രാജാവിനോടു വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതു: ഫേലിക്സ് വിട്ടേച്ചുപോയോരു തടവുകാരൻ ഉണ്ടു.

About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.ഞാൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ ചെന്നപ്പോൾ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ മഹാപുരോഹീതന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു അവന്റെ നേരെ അന്യായം ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു. വിധിക്കു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.എന്നാൽ പ്രതിവാദികളെ അഭിമുഖമായി കണ്ടു അന്യായത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രതിവാദിപ്പാൻ ഇടകിട്ടുംമുമ്പെ യാതൊരു മനുഷ്യനെയും ഏല്പിച്ചു കൊടുക്കുന്നതു റോമക്കാർക്കു മര്യാദയല്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

Therefore, when they were come here, without any delay on the next day I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.ആകയാൽ അവർ ഇവിടെ വന്നു കൂടിയാറെ ഞാൻ ഒട്ടും താമസിയാതെ പിറ്റെന്നു തന്നേ ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു ആ പുരുഷനെ കൊണ്ടുവരുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:വാദികൾ അവന്റെ ചുറ്റും നിന്നു ഞാൻ നിരൂപിച്ചിരുന്ന കുറ്റം

But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.ഒന്നും ബോധിപ്പിക്കാതെ സ്വന്തമതത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പൌലൊസ് പറയുന്ന മരിച്ചുപോയ യേശു എന്നൊരുവനെക്കുറിച്ചും ചില തർക്കസംഗതികളെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതേയുള്ളു.

And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ വിചാരണ നടത്തേണ്ടതു എങ്ങനെയെന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയായ്കയാൽ: നിനക്കു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു പോയി അവിടെ ഈ സംഗതികളെക്കുറിച്ചു വിസ്താരം നടപ്പാൻ സമ്മതമുണ്ടോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.എന്നാൽ പൌലൊസ് ചക്രവർത്തിതിരുമനസ്സിലെ വിധിക്കായി തന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കേണം എന്നു അഭയംചൊല്ലുകയാൽ കൈസരുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കുവോളം അവനെ സൂക്ഷിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. Tomorrow, said he, you shall hear him.ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ പ്രസംഗം കേൾപ്പാൻ എനിക്കും ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നു അഗ്രിപ്പാവു ഫെസ്തൊസിനോടു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു: നാളെ കേൾക്കാം എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

And on the next day, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth.പിറ്റെന്നു അഗ്രിപ്പാവു ബെർന്നീക്കയുമായി വളരെ ആഡംബരത്തോടെ വന്നു. സഹസ്രാധിപതികളോടും നഗരത്തിലെ പ്രധാനികളോടും കൂടെ വിചാരണമണ്ഡപത്തിൽ വന്നാറെ ഫെസ്തൊസിന്റെ കല്പനയാൽ പൌലൊസിനെ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, all of you see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.അപ്പോൾ ഫെസ്തൊസ് പറഞ്ഞതു: അഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവേ, ഇവിടെ വന്നു കൂടിയിരിക്കുന്ന സകല പുരുഷന്മാരുമായുള്ളോരേ, യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ സമൂഹം എല്ലാം യെരൂശലേമിലും ഇവിടെയും വെച്ചു എന്നോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കയും അവനെ ജീവനോടെ വെച്ചേക്കരുതു എന്നു നിലവിളിക്കയും ചെയ്ത ഈ മനുഷ്യനെ നിങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ.

But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself has appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.അവൻ മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു ഞാൻ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു; അവൻ തന്നെയും ചക്രവർത്തിതിരുമനസ്സിലെ അഭയം ചൊല്ലുകയാൽ അവനെ അയക്കേണം എന്നു വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before you, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു തിരുമേനിക്കു എഴുതുവാൻ എനിക്കു നിശ്ചയമായതു ഒന്നുമില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു വിസ്താരം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു എഴുതുവാൻ വല്ലതും ഉണ്ടാകേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിലും വിശേഷാൽ അഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവേ, തിരുമുമ്പിലും വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

For it seems to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not likewise to signify the crimes laid against him.തടവുകാരനെ അയക്കുമ്പോൾ അവന്റെ പേരിലുള്ള കുറ്റം കാണിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതു യുക്തമല്ല എന്നു തോന്നുന്നു.

Acts 26

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, You are permitted to speak for yourself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:അഗ്രിപ്പാവു പൌലൊസിനോടു: നീന്റെ കാര്യം പറവാൻ അനുവാദം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ പൌലൊസ് കൈനീട്ടി പ്രതിവാദിച്ചതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before you concerning all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:അഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവേ, യെഹൂദന്മാർ എന്റെ മേൽ ചുമത്തുന്ന എല്ലാ കുറ്റങ്ങളെയും കുറിച്ചു ഇന്നു തിരുമുമ്പാകെ പ്രതിവാദിപ്പാൻ ഇടവന്നതുകൊണ്ടു,

Especially because I know you to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I plead to you to hear me patiently.വിശേഷാൽ നീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിലെ ആചാരങ്ങളും തർക്കങ്ങളും എല്ലാം അറിയുന്നവൻ ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ ഭാഗ്യവാൻ എന്നു നിരൂപിക്കുന്നു; അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ പ്രതിവാദം ക്ഷമയോടേ കേൾക്കേണമെന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;എന്റെ ജാതിക്കാരുടെ ഇടയിലും യെരൂശലേമിലും ആദിമുതൽ ബാല്യംതുടങ്ങിയുള്ള എന്റെ നടപ്പു യെഹൂദന്മാർ എല്ലാവരും അറിയുന്നു.

Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.ഞാൻ നമ്മുടെ മാർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ സൂക്ഷ്മത ഏറിയ മതഭേദപ്രകാരം പരീശനായി ജീവിച്ചു എന്നു അവർ ആദിമുതൽ അറിയുന്നു; അവർക്കു മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ സാക്ഷ്യം പറയാം.

And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers:ദൈവത്താൽ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കു ലഭിച്ചതും

Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.നമ്മുടെ പന്ത്രണ്ടു ഗോത്രങ്ങളും രാപ്പകൽ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ ആരാധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു എത്തിപ്പിടിപ്പാൻ ആശിക്കുന്നതും ആയ വാഗ്ദത്തത്തിലുള്ള പ്രത്യാശഹേതുവായിട്ടത്രേ ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ വിസ്താരത്തിൽ ആയിരിക്കുന്നതു. ആ പ്രത്യാശയെച്ചൊല്ലി ആകുന്നു രാജാവേ, യെഹൂദന്മാർ എന്റെമേൽ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തുന്നതു.

Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?ദൈവം മരിച്ചവരെ ഉയിർപ്പിക്കുന്നതു വിശ്വാസയോഗ്യമല്ല എന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കു തോന്നുന്നതു എന്തു?

I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.നസറായനായ യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി പലതും പ്രവർത്തിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാനും വിചാരിച്ചു സത്യം.

Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.അതു ഞാൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ ചെയ്തിട്ടുമുണ്ടു; മഹാ പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടു അധികാരപത്രം വാങ്ങി വിശുദ്ധന്മാരിൽ പലരെയും തടവിൽ ആക്കി അടെച്ചു; അവരെ നിഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന സമയം ഞാനും സമ്മതം കൊടുത്തു.

And I punished them often in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.ഞാൻ എല്ലാ പള്ളികളിലും അവരെ പലപ്പോഴും ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു ദൂഷണം പറവാൻ നിർബന്ധിക്കയും അവരുടെ നേരെ അത്യന്തം ഭ്രാന്തുപിടിച്ചു അന്യപട്ടണങ്ങളോളവും ചെന്നു അവരെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്തുവരികയിൽ ഞാൻ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരുടെ അധികാരത്തോടും ആജ്ഞയോടും കൂടെ ദമസ്കൊസിലേക്കു യാത്രപോകുമ്പോൾ,

At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.രാജാവേ, നട്ടുച്ചെക്കു ഞാൻ വഴിയിൽവെച്ചു സൂര്യന്റെ പ്രകാശത്തെ കവിഞ്ഞൊരു വെളിച്ചം ആകാശത്തിൽ നിന്നു എന്നെയും എന്നോടു കൂടെ യാത്രചെയ്യുന്നവരെയും ചുറ്റി പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു.

And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecute you me? it is hard for you to kick against the pricks.ഞങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും നിലത്തു വീണപ്പോൾ: ശൌലെ, ശൌലെ, നീ എന്നെ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു? മുള്ളിന്റെ നേരെ ഉതെക്കുന്നതു നിനക്കു വിഷമം ആകുന്നു എന്നു എബ്രായഭാഷയിൽ എന്നോടു പറയുന്നൊരു ശബ്ദം ഞാൻ കേട്ടു.

And I said, Who are you, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom you persecute.നീ ആരാകുന്നു കർത്താവേ, എന്നു ഞാൻ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു കർത്താവു: നീ ഉപദ്രവിക്കുന്ന യേശു തന്നേ ഞാൻ;

But rise, and stand upon your feet: for I have appeared unto you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of these things which you have seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto you;എങ്കിലും എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിവിർന്നു നിൽക്ക; നീ എന്നെ കണ്ടതിന്നും ഇനി ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷൻ ആവാനിരിക്കുന്നതിന്നും നിന്നെ ശുശ്രൂഷകനും സാക്ഷിയുമായി നിയമിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.

Delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send you,ജനത്തിന്റെയും ജാതികളുടെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

¹⁸

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.അവർക്കു പാപമോചനവും എന്നിലുള്ള വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ശുദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവകാശവും ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരുടെ കണ്ണു തുറപ്പാനും അവരെ ഇരുളിൽനിന്നു വെളിച്ചത്തിലേക്കും സാത്താന്റെ അധികാരത്തിൽ നിന്നു ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കും തിരിപ്പാനും ഞാൻ ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്നെ അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കുന്നു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:അതുകൊണ്ടു അഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവേ, ഞാൻ സ്വർഗ്ഗീയദർശനത്തിന്നു അനുസരണക്കേടു കാണിക്കാതെ

But showed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.ആദ്യം ദമസ്കൊസിലും യെരൂശലേമിലും യെഹൂദ്യദേശത്തെങ്ങും ഉള്ളവരോടും പിന്നെ ജാതികളോടും മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു മാനസാന്തരത്തിന്നു യോഗ്യമായ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ ചെയ്യേണം എന്നു പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.ഇതു നിമിത്തം യെഹൂദന്മാർ ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ വെച്ചു എന്നെ പിടിച്ചു കൊല്ലുവാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു.

Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:എന്നാൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സഹായം ലഭിക്കയാൽ ഞാൻ ഇന്നുവരെ നിൽക്കയും ചെറിയവരോടും വലിയവരോടും സാക്ഷ്യം പറഞ്ഞു പോരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should show light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.ക്രിസ്തു കഷ്ടം അനുഭവിക്കയും മരിച്ചവരുടെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തിൽ ആദ്യനായി ജനത്തോടും ജാതികളോടും വെളിച്ചം അറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു പ്രവാചകന്മാരും മോശെയും ഭാവികാലത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു പ്രസ്താവിച്ചതൊഴികെ വേറെയൊന്നും ഞാൻ പറയുന്നില്ല.

And as he thus spoke for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, you are out of your mind; much learning does make you mad.ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രതിവാദിക്കയിൽ ഫെസ്തൊസ്: പൌലൊസേ, നിനക്കു ഭ്രാന്തുണ്ടു; വിദ്യാ ബഹുത്വത്താൽ നിനക്കു ഭ്രാന്തു പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഉറക്കെ പറഞ്ഞു.

But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.അതിന്നു പൌലൊസ്: രാജശ്രീ ഫെസ്തൊസേ, എനിക്കു ഭ്രാന്തില്ല; ഞാൻ സത്യവും സുബോധവുമായ വാക്കത്രേ സംസാരിക്കുന്നതു.

For the king knows of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.രാജാവിന്നു ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു അറിവുള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ഞാൻ പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യത്തോടെ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്നു ഇതു ഒന്നും മറവായിരിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്നു എനിക്കു നിശ്ചയമുണ്ടു; അതു ഒരു കോണിൽ നടന്നതല്ല.

King Agrippa, believe you the prophets? I know that you believe.അഗ്രിപ്പാരാജാവേ, പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നുവോ? വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost you persuade me to be a Christian.അഗ്രിപ്പാ പൌലൊസിനോടു: ഞാൻ ക്രിസ്ത്യാനിയായിത്തിരുവാൻ നീ എന്നെ അല്പംകൊണ്ടു സമ്മതിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. - അതിന്നു പൌലൊസ്;

And Paul said, I would to God, that not only you, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.നീ മാത്രമല്ല, ഇന്നു എന്റെ പ്രസംഗം കേൾക്കുന്നവർ എല്ലാവരും അല്പംകൊണ്ടാകട്ടെ അധികം കൊണ്ടാകട്ടെ ഈ ചങ്ങല ഒഴികെ എന്നെപ്പോലെ ആകേണം എന്നു ഞാൻ ദൈവത്തോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:അപ്പോൾ രാജാവും ദേശാധിപതിയും ബെർന്നീക്കയും അവരോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നവരും എഴുന്നേറ്റു മാറി നിന്നു:

And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds.ഈ മനുഷ്യൻ മരണത്തിന്നോ ചങ്ങലെക്കോ യോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar.കൈസരെ അഭയം ചൊല്ലിയിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ അവനെ വിട്ടയപ്പാൻ കഴിയുമായിരുന്നു എന്നു അഗ്രിപ്പാവു ഫെസ്തൊസിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

Acts 27

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.ഞങ്ങൾ കപ്പൽ കയറി ഇതല്യെക്കു പോകേണം എന്നു കല്പനയായപ്പോൾ പൌലൊസിനെയും മറ്റു ചില തടവുകാരെയും ഔഗുസ്ത്യപട്ടാളത്തിലെ ശതാധിപനായ യൂലിയൊസിനെ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.അങ്ങനെ ഞങ്ങൾ ആസ്യക്കര പറ്റി ഓടുവാനുള്ള ഒരു അദ്രമുത്ത്യകപ്പലിൽ കയറി നീക്കി; തെസ്സലൊനിക്കയിൽ നിന്നുള്ള മക്കെദോന്യക്കാരനായ അരിസ്തർഹൊസും ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously pleaded Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.പിറ്റെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ സീദോനിൽ എത്തി; യൂലിയൊസ് പൌലൊസിനോടു ദയ കാണിച്ചു, സ്നേഹിതന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ പോയി സൽക്കാരം കൈക്കൊൾവാൻ അനുവദിച്ചു.

And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.അവിടെ നിന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ നീക്കി, കാറ്റു പ്രതികൂലമാകയാൽ കുപ്രൊസ് ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഓടി;

And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.കിലിക്യ പംഫുല്യ കടൽവഴിയായി ചെന്നു ലുക്കിയയിലെ മുറാപ്പട്ടണത്തിൽ എത്തി.

And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.അവിടെ ശതാധിപൻ ഇതല്യെക്കു പോകുന്ന ഒരു അലെക്സന്ത്രിയക്കപ്പൽ കണ്ടു ഞങ്ങളെ അതിൽ കയറ്റി.

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come opposite to Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, opposite to Salmone;പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങൾ ബഹുദിവസം പതുക്കെ ഓടി, ക്നീദൊസ് തൂക്കിൽ പ്രയാസത്തോടെ എത്തി, കാറ്റു സമ്മതിക്കായ്കയാൽ ക്രേത്തദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ശല്മോനെക്കു നേരെ ഓടി,

And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh unto which was the city of Lasea.കരപറ്റി പ്രയാസത്തോടെ ലസയ്യപട്ടണത്തിന്റെ സമീപത്തു ശുഭതുറമുഖം എന്നു പേരുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തി.

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,ഇങ്ങനെ വളരെ നാൾ ചെന്നശേഷം നോമ്പും കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കെ കപ്പലോട്ടം വൈഷമ്യം ആകകൊണ്ടു പൌലൊസ്:

And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.പുരുഷന്മാരേ, ഈ യാത്രയിൽ ചരക്കിന്നും കപ്പലിന്നും മാത്രമല്ല നമ്മുടെ പ്രാണങ്ങൾക്കും ഏറിയ കഷ്ടനഷ്ടങ്ങൾ വരും എന്നു ഞാൻ കാണുന്നു എന്നു അവരെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.

Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.ശതാധിപനോ പൌലൊസ് പറഞ്ഞതിനെക്കാൾ മാലുമിയുടെയും കപ്പലുടമസ്ഥന്റെയും വാക്കു അധികം വിശ്വസിച്ചു.

And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lies toward the south west and north west.ആ തുറമുഖം ശീതകാലം കഴിപ്പാൻ തക്കതല്ലായ്കയാൽ അവിടെ നിന്നു നീക്കി തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായും വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായും തുറന്നു കിടക്കുന്ന ഫൊയ്നീക്യ എന്ന ക്രേത്തതുറമുഖത്തു കഴിവുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ചെന്നു ശീതകാലം കഴിക്കേണം എന്നു മിക്കപേരും ആലോചന പറഞ്ഞു.

And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.തെക്കൻ കാറ്റു മന്ദമായി ഊതുകയാൽ താല്പര്യം സാധിച്ചു എന്നു തോന്നി, അവർ അവിടെ നിന്നു നങ്കൂരം എടുത്തു ക്രേത്ത ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഓടി.

But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.കുറെ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടു അതിന്നു വിരോധമായി ഈശാനമൂലൻ എന്ന കൊടങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചു.

And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.കപ്പൽ കാറ്റിന്റെ നേരെ നില്പാൻ കഴിയാതവണ്ണം കുടുങ്ങുകയാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ കൈവിട്ടു അങ്ങനെ പാറിപ്പോയി.

And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:ക്ളൌദ എന്ന ചെറിയ ദ്വീപിന്റെ മറപറ്റി ഓടീട്ടു പ്രയാസത്തോടെ തോണി കൈവശമാക്കി.

Which when they had taken up, they used support cables, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksand, strake sail, and so were driven.അതു വലിച്ചുകയറ്റീട്ടു അവർ കപ്പൽ ചുറ്റിക്കെട്ടിയും മറ്റും ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തി; പിന്നെ മണത്തിട്ടമേൽ അകപ്പെടും എന്നു പേടിച്ചു പായി ഇറക്കി അങ്ങനെ പാറിപ്പോയി.

And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;ഞങ്ങൾ കൊടുങ്കാറ്റിനാൽ അത്യന്തം അലയുകകൊണ്ടു പിറ്റെന്നു അവർ ചരക്കു പുറത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.

And the third day we cast out with our own hands the cordage of the ship.മൂന്നാം നാൾ അവർ സ്വന്തകയ്യാൽ കപ്പൽകോപ്പും കടലിൽ ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.

And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.വളരെ നാളായിട്ടു സൂര്യനെയോ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെയോ കാണാതെയും വല്ലാത്ത കൊടുങ്കാറ്റു അടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടും ഇരിക്കയാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ രക്ഷപ്പെടും എന്നുള്ള ആശ ഒക്കെയും അറ്റുപോയി.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, all of you should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.അവർ വളരെ പട്ടിണി കിടന്നശേഷം പൌലോസ് അവരുടെ നടുവിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു പറഞ്ഞതു: പുരുഷന്മാരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചു ക്രേത്തയിൽനിന്നു നീക്കാതെയും ഈ കഷ്ട നഷ്ടങ്ങൾ സമ്പാദിക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതായിരുന്നു.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.എങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോൾ ധൈര്യത്തോടിരിപ്പാൻ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; കപ്പലിന്നു അല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങളിൽ ആരുടെയും പ്രാണന്നു ഹാനി വരികയില്ല.

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,എന്റെ ഉടയവനും ഞാൻ സേവിച്ചുവരുന്നവനുമായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദൂതൻ ഈ രാത്രിയിൽ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽനിന്നു:

Saying, Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God has given you all them that sail with you.പൌലൊസേ, ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; നീ കൈസരുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നിൽക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; നിന്നോടുകൂടെ യാത്രചെയ്യുന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും ദൈവം നിനക്കു ദാനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.അതുകൊണ്ടു പുരുഷന്മാരേ, ധൈര്യത്തോടിരിപ്പിൻ; എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ തന്നേ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ ദൈവത്തെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.

²⁶

Nevertheless we must be cast upon a certain island.എങ്കിലും നാം ഒരു ദ്വീപിന്മേൽ മുട്ടി വീഴേണ്ടതാകുന്നു.

But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the sailors deemed that they drew near to some country;പതിന്നാലാം രാത്രിയായപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ അദ്രിയക്കടലിൽ അലയുന്നേരം അർദ്ധരാത്രിയിൽ ഒരു കരെക്കു സമീപിക്കുന്നു എന്നു കപ്പൽക്കാർക്കു തോന്നി.

And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.അവർ ഈയം ഇട്ടു ഇരുപതു മാറെന്നു കണ്ടു കുറയ അപ്പുറം പോയിട്ടു വീണ്ടും ഈയം ഇട്ടു പതിനഞ്ചു മറ്റൊന്നു കണ്ടു.

Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.പാറ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ അകപ്പെടും എന്നു പേടിച്ചു അവർ അമരത്തു നിന്നു നാലു നങ്കൂരം ഇട്ടു, നേരം വെളുപ്പാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

And as the sailors were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the bow,എന്നാൽ കപ്പൽക്കാർ കപ്പൽ വിട്ടു ഓടിപ്പോകുവാൻ വിചാരിച്ചു അണിയത്തുനിന്നു നങ്കൂരം ഇടുവാൻ പോകുന്നു എന്നുള്ള ഭാവത്തിൽ തോണി കടലിൽ ഇറക്കി.

Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, all of you cannot be saved.അപ്പോൾ പൌലൊസ് ശതാധിപനോടും പടയാളികളോടും: ഇവർ കപ്പലിൽ താമസിച്ചല്ലാതെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു രക്ഷപ്പെടുവാൻ കഴിയുന്നതല്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.പടയാളികൾ തോണിയുടെ കയറു അറുത്തു അതു വീഴിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take food, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that all of you have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.നേരം വെളുക്കാറായപ്പോൾ പൌലൊസ് എല്ലാവരോടും ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു: നിങ്ങൾ ഒന്നും ഭക്ഷിക്കാതെ കാത്തുകൊണ്ടു പട്ടിണി കിടക്കുന്നതു ഇന്നു പതിന്നാലാം ദിവസം ആകുന്നുവല്ലോ.

Wherefore I pray you to take some food: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.അതുകൊണ്ടു ആഹാരം കഴിക്കേണം എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു; അതു നിങ്ങളുടെ രക്ഷെക്കുള്ളതല്ലോ; നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരുത്തന്റെയും തലയിലെ ഒരു രോമംപോലും നഷ്ടമാകയില്ല നിശ്ചയം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു അപ്പം എടുത്തു എല്ലാവരും കാൺകെ ദൈവത്തെ വാഴ്ത്തിട്ടു നുറുക്കി തിന്നുതുടങ്ങി.

Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some food.അപ്പോൾ എല്ലാവരും ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.കപ്പലിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ആകപ്പാടെ ഇരുനൂറ്റെഴുപത്താറു ആൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

³⁸

And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.അവർ തിന്നു തൃപ്തിവന്നശേഷം ധാന്യം കടലിൽ കളഞ്ഞു കപ്പലിന്റെ ഭാരം കുറെച്ചു.

³⁹

And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.വെളിച്ചമായപ്പോൾ ഇന്ന ദേശം എന്നു അവർ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല എങ്കിലും കരയുള്ളോരു തുറ കണ്ടു, കഴിയും എങ്കിൽ കപ്പൽ അതിലേക്കു ഓടിക്കേണം എന്നു ഭാവിച്ചു.

And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoisted up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.നങ്കൂരം അറുത്തു കടലിൽ വിട്ടു ചുക്കാന്റെ കെട്ടും അഴിച്ചു പെരുമ്പായ് കാറ്റുമുഖമായി കൊടുത്തു കരെക്കു നേരെ ഓടി.

And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the front part stuck fast, and remained immoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.ഇരുകടൽ കൂടിയോരു സ്ഥലത്തിന്മേൽ ചെന്നു കയറുകയാൽ കപ്പൽ അടിഞ്ഞു അണിയം ഉറെച്ചു ഇളക്കമില്ലാതെയായി; അമരം തിരയുടെ കേമത്താൽ ഉടഞ്ഞുപോയി.

And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.തടവുകാരിൽ ആരും നീന്തി ഓടിപ്പോകാതിരിപ്പാൻ അവരെ കൊല്ലേണം എന്നു പടയാളികൾ ആലോചിച്ചു.

But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:ശതാധിപനോ പൌലൊസിനെ രക്ഷിപ്പാൻ ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു അവരുടെ താല്പര്യം തടുത്തു, നീന്തുവാൻ കഴിയുന്നവർ ആദ്യം ചാടി കരെക്കു പറ്റുവാനും

And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.ശേഷമുള്ളവർ പലകമേലും കപ്പലിന്റെ ഖണ്ഡങ്ങളുടെ മേലുമായി എത്തുവാനും കല്പിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ എല്ലാവരും കരയിൽ എത്തി രക്ഷപ്പെടുവാൻ സംഗതിവന്നു.
