And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel.അരാമും യിസ്രായേലും മൂന്നു സംവത്സരം തമ്മിൽ യുദ്ധം കൂടാതെ പാർത്തു.

And it came to pass in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.മൂന്നാം ആണ്ടിലോ യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

And the king of Israel said unto his servants, Know all of you that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we be still, and take it not out of the hand of the king of Syria?യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു തന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു: ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്ത് നമുക്കുള്ളതെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അറിയുന്നുവോ? നാം അതിനെ അരാംരാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ നിന്നു പിടിക്കാതെ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said unto Jehoshaphat, Will you go with me to battle to Ramothgilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.അവൻ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ ഗിലെയാദിലെരാമോത്തിൽ യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോരുമോ? എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു: ഞാനും നീയും എന്റെ ജനവും നിന്റെ ജനവും എന്റെ കുതിരകളും നിന്റെ കുതിരകളും ഒരുപോലെയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray you, at the word of the LORD to day.എന്നാൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു: ഇന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിച്ചാലും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall I go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു ഏകദേശം നാനൂറു പ്രവാചകന്മാരെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി അവരോടു: ഞാൻ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവർ പുറപ്പെടുക; കർത്താവു അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?എന്നാൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത്: നാം അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനായിട്ടു ഇവിടെ ഇനി ആരും ഇല്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: നാം യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം ഇനി യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവു എന്നൊരുത്തൻ ഉണ്ടു. എന്നാൽ അവൻ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ഗണമല്ല ദോഷം തന്നേ പ്രവചിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു എനിക്കു അവനോടു ഇഷ്ടമില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. രാജാവു അങ്ങനെ പറയരുതേ എന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.

Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, Hasten here Micaiah the son of Imlah.അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനെ വിളിച്ചു, യിമ്ളയുടെ മകനായ മീഖായാവെ വേഗത്തിൽ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah sat each on his throne, having put on their robes, in a void place in the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചു ശമര്യയുടെ പടിവാതിൽ പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കൽ ഒരു വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നു; പ്രവാചകന്മാർ ഒക്കെയും അവരുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ പ്രവചിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron: and he said, Thus says the LORD, With these shall you push the Syrians, until you have consumed them.കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു തനിക്കു ഇരിമ്പു കൊണ്ടു കൊമ്പു ഉണ്ടാക്കി: ഇവകൊണ്ടു നീ അരാമ്യരെ അവർ ഒടുങ്ങുംവരെ കുത്തിക്കളയും എന്നിപ്രകാരം യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the king's hand.പ്രവാചകന്മാരൊക്കെയും അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ പ്രവചിച്ചു: ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പുറപ്പെടുക; നീ കൃതാർത്ഥനാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spoke unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let your word, I pray you, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.മീഖായാവെ വിളിപ്പാൻ പോയ ദൂതൻ അവനോടു: നോകൂ, പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ വാക്കുകൾ ഒരുപോലെ രാജാവിന്നു ഗുണമായിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ വാക്കും അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തന്റേതുപോലെ ഇരിക്കേണം; നീയും ഗുണമായി പറയേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Micaiah said, As the LORD lives, what the LORD says unto me, that will I speak.അതിന്നു മീഖായാവു: യഹോവയാണ, യഹോവ എന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു തന്നേ ഞാൻ പ്രസ്താവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramothgilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.അവൻ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നപ്പോൾ രാജാവു അവനോടു: മീഖായാവേ, ഞങ്ങൾ ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു പോകയോ പോകാതിരിക്കയോ എന്തു വേണ്ടു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: പുറപ്പെടുവിൻ; നിങ്ങൾ കൃതാർത്ഥരാകും; യഹോവ അതു രാജാവിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure you that you tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?രാജാവു അവനോടു: നീ യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ സത്യമല്ലാതെ യാതൊന്നും എന്നോടു പറയരുതെന്നും എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തു പറയേണം എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.അതിന്നു അവൻ: ഇടയനില്ലാത്ത ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ യിസ്രായേൽ ഒക്കെയും പർവ്വതങ്ങളിൽ ചിതറിയിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു; അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ: ഇവർക്കു നാഥനില്ല; അവർ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിപ്പോകട്ടെ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell you that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: ഇവൻ എന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു ദോഷമല്ലാതെ ഗുണം പ്രവചിക്കയില്ലെന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Hear you therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.അതിന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്നാൽ നീ യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്ക: യഹോവ തന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നതും സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലെ സൈന്യം ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വലത്തും ഇടത്തും നില്ക്കുന്നതും ഞാൻ കണ്ടു.

And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.ആഹാബ് ചെന്നു ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിൽവെച്ചു പട്ടുപോകത്തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ ആർ വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു ഒരുത്തൻ ഇങ്ങനെയും ഒരുത്തൻ അങ്ങനെയും പറഞ്ഞു.

And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him.എന്നാറെ ഒരു ആത്മാവു മുമ്പോട്ടു വന്നു യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിന്നു: ഞാൻ അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You shall persude him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.ഏതിനാൽ എന്നു യഹോവ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു അവൻ: ഞാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു അവന്റെ സകല പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായിൽ ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. നീ അവനെ വശീകരിക്കും, നിനക്കും സാധിക്കും; നീ ചെന്നു അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്ക എന്നു അവൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets, and the LORD has spoken evil concerning you.ആകയാൽ ഇതാ, യഹോവ ഭോഷ്കിന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ നിന്റെ ഈ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെയും വായിൽ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ നിന്നെക്കുറിച്ചു അനർത്ഥം കല്പിച്ചുമിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

But Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near, and stroke Micaiah on the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto you?അപ്പോൾ കെനയനയുടെ മകനായ സിദെക്കീയാവു അടുത്തുചെന്നു മീഖായാവിന്റെ ചെകിട്ടത്തു അടിച്ചു: നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്‍വാൻ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു എന്നെ വിട്ടു ഏതു വഴിയായി കടന്നുവന്നു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

And Micaiah said, Behold, you shall see in that day, when you shall go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.അതിന്നു മീഖായാവു: നീ ഒളിപ്പാനായിട്ടു അറ തേടി നടക്കുന്ന ദിവസത്തിൽ നീ കാണും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁶

And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king's son;അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു പറഞ്ഞതു: മീഖായാവെ പിടിച്ചു നഗരാധിപതിയായ ആമോന്റെയും രാജകുമാരനായ യോവാശിന്റെയും അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു ഇവനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ ആക്കി,

And say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.ഞാൻ സമാധാനത്തോടെ വരുവോളം ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ അപ്പവും ഞെരുക്കത്തിന്റെ വെള്ളവും കൊടുത്തു പോഷിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു രാജാവു കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവരോടു പറക.

And Micaiah said, If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.അതിന്നു മീഖായാവു: നീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ മടങ്ങിവരുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ യഹോവ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. സകലജാതികളുമായുള്ളോരേ, കേട്ടുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നും അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവും യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തും ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്തിലേക്കു പോയി.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and enter into the battle; but put you on your robes. And the king of Israel disguised himself, and went into the battle.യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു: ഞാൻ വേഷംമാറി പടയിൽ കടക്കും; നീയോ രാജവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചുകൊൾക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു വോഷംമാറി പടയിൽ കടന്നു.

But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, save only with the king of Israel.എന്നാൽ അരാംരാജാവു തന്റെ മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടു രഥനായകന്മാരോടു: നിങ്ങൾ യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവിനോടു മാത്രമല്ലാതെ ചെറിയവരോടോ വലിയവരോടോ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out.ആകയാൽ രഥനായകന്മാർ യെഹോശാഥാത്തിനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ: ഇവൻ തന്നേ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനോടു പൊരുതുവാൻ തിരിഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് നിലവിളിച്ചു.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജവല്ല എന്നു രഥനായകന്മാർ കണ്ടിട്ടു അവനെ വിട്ടുമാറി പോന്നു.

³⁴

And a certain man drew a bow at random, and stroke the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn yours hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.എന്നാൽ ഒരുത്തൻ യദൃച്ഛയാ വില്ലു കുലെച്ചു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനെ കവചത്തിന്നും പതക്കത്തിന്നും ഇടെക്കു എയ്തു; അവൻ തന്റെ സാരഥിയോടു: നിന്റെ കൈ തിരിച്ചു എന്നെ പടയിൽ നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോക; ഞാൻ കഠിനമായി മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the battle increased that day: and the king was stayed up in his chariot against the Syrians, and died at even: and the blood ran out of the wound into the midst of the chariot.അന്നു പട കഠിനമായി തീർന്നതുകൊണ്ടു രാജാവു അരാമ്യർക്കു എതിരെ രഥത്തിൽ നിവിർന്നുനിന്നു; സന്ധ്യാസമയത്തു അവൻ മരിച്ചുപോയി. മുറിവിൽനിന്നു രക്തം രഥത്തിന്നകത്തു ഒഴുകിയിരുന്നു.

And there went a proclamation throughout the host about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city, and every man to his own country.സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ പട്ടണത്തിലേക്കും താന്താന്റെ ദേശത്തേക്കും പോകട്ടെ എന്നു പാളയത്തിൽ ഒരു പരസ്യം പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

So the king died, and was brought to Samaria; and they buried the king in Samaria.അങ്ങനെ രാജാവു മരിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമര്യയിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു; അവർ രാജാവിനെ ശമര്യയിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.

And one washed the chariot in the pool of Samaria; and the dogs licked up his blood; and they washed his armour; according unto the word of the LORD which he spoke.രഥം ശമര്യയിലെ കുളത്തിൽ കഴുകിയപ്പോൾ യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചിരുന്ന വചനപ്രകാരം നായ്ക്കൾ അവന്റെ രക്തം നക്കി; വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീകളും അവിടെ കുളിച്ചു.

Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, and the ivory house which he made, and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?ആഹാബിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവൻ ആനക്കൊമ്പുകൊണ്ടു പണിത അരമനയുടെയും അവൻ പണിത എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെയും വിവരവും യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

So Ahab slept with his fathers; and Ahaziah his son reigned in his position.ആഹാബ് തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.

And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.ആസയുടെ മകനായ യഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ആഹാബിന്റെ നാലാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെഹൂദയിൽ രാജാവായി.

Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു മുപ്പത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു; അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു അസൂബാ എന്നു പേർ; അവൾ ശിൽഹിയുടെ മകൾ ആയിരുന്നു.

And he walked in all the ways of Asa his father; he turned not aside from it, doing that which was right in the eyes of the LORD: nevertheless the high places were not taken away; for the people offered and burnt incense yet in the high places.അവൻ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ എല്ലാവഴിയിലും നടന്നു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറാതെ യഹോവെക്കു പ്രസാദമായതു ചെയ്തു. പൂജാഗിരികൾക്കുമാത്രം നീക്കം വന്നില്ല; ജനം പൂജാഗിരികളിൽ യാഗം കഴിക്കയും ധൂപം കാട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.

And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു സഖ്യത ചെയ്തു.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might that he showed, and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവന്റെ പരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും അവൻ ചെയ്ത യുദ്ധവും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

And the remnant of the sodomites, which remained in the days of his father Asa, he took out of the land.തന്റെ അപ്പനായ ആസയുടെ കാലത്തു ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്ന പുരുഷമൈഥുനക്കാരെ അവൻ ദേശത്തുനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

There was then no king in Edom: a deputy was king.ആ കാലത്തു എദോമിൽ രാജാവില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഒരു ദേശാധിപതി രാജസ്ഥാനം വഹിച്ചു.

Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ അഹസ്യാവു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പതിനേഴാം ആണ്ടിൽ ശമര്യയിൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി; യിസ്രായേലിൽ രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:അവൻ തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വഴിയിലും അമ്മയുടെ വഴിയിലും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ വഴിയിലും നടന്നു യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.

Now therefore thus says the LORD, You shall not come down from that bed on which you are gone up, but shall surely die. And Elijah departed.ഇതുനിമിത്തം നീ കയറിയിരിക്കുന്ന കട്ടിലിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങാതെ നിശ്ചയമായി മരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറക. അങ്ങനെ ഏലീയാവു പോയി.

Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty. Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume you and your fifty. And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in your sight.ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു തീ ഇറങ്ങി അമ്പതുപേർക്കധിപതിമാരായ മുമ്പിലത്തെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും അവരുടെ അമ്പതീതു ആളെയും ദഹിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ; എന്നാൽ എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ ആദരിക്കേണമേ എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതൻ ഏലീയാവോടു: ഇവനോടുകൂടെ പോക; അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനോടുകൂടെ രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

And he said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Forasmuch as you have sent messengers to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to enquire of his word? therefore you shall not come down off that bed on which you are gone up, but shall surely die.അവനോടു: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ യിസ്രായേലിൽ ദൈവം ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞിട്ടോ നീ എക്രോനിലെ ദേവനായ ബാൽസെബൂബിനോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പാൻ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചതു? ഇതുനിമിത്തം നീ കയറിയിരിക്കുന്ന കട്ടിലിൽനിന്നു ഇറങ്ങാതെ നിശ്ചയമായി മരിക്കും.

So he died according to the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram reigned in his position in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; because he had no son.ഏലീയാവു പറഞ്ഞ യഹോവയുടെ വചനപ്രകാരം തന്നേ അവൻ മരിച്ചു പോയി; അവന്നു മകനില്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവന്നു പകരം യെഹോരാം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാമിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ രാജാവായി.

And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.യഹോവ ഏലീയാവെ ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു എടുത്തുകൊൾവാൻ ഭാവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു എലീശയോടു കൂടെ ഗിൽഗാലിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.

And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray you; for the LORD has sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Know you that the LORD will take away your master from your head to day? And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Know you that the LORD will take away your master from your head to day? And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view far off: and they two stood by Jordan.പ്രവാചകശിഷ്യന്മാരിൽ അമ്പതുപേർ ചെന്നു അവർക്കെതിരെ ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു; അവർ ഇരുവരും യോർദ്ദാന്നരികെ നിന്നു.

And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and stroke the waters, and they were divided here and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.അപ്പോൾ ഏലീയാവു തന്റെ പുതപ്പു എടുത്തു മടക്കി വെള്ളത്തെ അടിച്ചു; അതു അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും പിരിഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവർ ഇരുവരും ഉണങ്ങിയ നിലത്തുകൂടി അക്കരെക്കു കടന്നു.

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for you, before I be taken away from you. And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.അവർ സംസാരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അഗ്നിരഥവും അഗ്ന്യശ്വങ്ങളും വന്നു അവരെ തമ്മിൽ വേർപിരിച്ചു; അങ്ങനെ ഏലീയാവു ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റിൽ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്കു കയറി.

And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah does rest on Elisha. And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with your servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray you, and seek your master: lest possibly the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, All of you shall not send.അവർ അവനോടു: ഇതാ, അടിയങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ അമ്പതു ബലശാലികൾ ഉണ്ടു; അവർ ചെന്നു നിന്റെ യജമാനനെ അന്വേഷിക്കട്ടെ; പക്ഷേ യഹോവയുടെ ആത്മാവു അവനെ എടുത്തു വല്ല മലയിലോ താഴ്വരയിലോ എങ്ങാനും ഇട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: നിങ്ങൾ അയക്കരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.അവർ അവനെ അത്യന്തം നിർബ്ബന്ധിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവൻ: എന്നാൽ അയച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അമ്പതുപേരെ അയച്ചു; അവർ മൂന്നുദിവസം അന്വേഷിച്ചിട്ടും അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയില്ല.

And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?അവൻ യെരീഹോവിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ മടങ്ങിവന്നു; അവൻ അവരോടു: പോകരുതു എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞില്ലയോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray you, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees: but the water is nil, and the ground barren.അനന്തരം ആ പട്ടണക്കാർ എലീശയോടു: ഈ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ ഇരിപ്പു മനോഹരമായതെന്നു യജമാനൻ കാണുന്നുവല്ലോ; എന്നാൽ വെള്ളം ചീത്തയും ദേശം ഗർഭനാശകവും ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.അതിന്നു അവൻ: ഒരു പുതിയ തളിക കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അതിൽ ഉപ്പു ഇടുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവർ അതു അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus says the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.അവൻ നീരുറവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു അതിൽ ഉപ്പു ഇട്ടു. ഞാൻ ഈ വെള്ളം പഥ്യമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇനി ഇതിനാൽ മരണവും ഗർഭനാശവും ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spoke.എലീശാ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ആ വെള്ളം ഇന്നുവരെ പഥ്യമായിത്തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, you bald head; go up, you bald head.പിന്നെ അവൻ അവിടെനിന്നു ബേഥേലിലേക്കു പോയി; അവൻ വഴിയിൽ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ ബാലന്മാർ പട്ടണത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു വന്നു അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു അവനോടു: മൊട്ടത്തലയാ, കയറി വാ; മൊട്ടത്തലയാ, കയറി വാ; എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.അവൻ പിന്നോക്കം തിരിഞ്ഞു അവനെ നോക്കി യഹോവനാമത്തിൽ അവരെ ശപിച്ചു; അപ്പോൾ കാട്ടിൽനിന്നു രണ്ടു പെൺകരടി ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു അവരിൽ നാല്പത്തിരണ്ടു ബാലന്മാരെ കീറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ പതിനെട്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ ആഹാബിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോരാം ശമർയ്യയിൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവായി; അവൻ പന്ത്രണ്ടു സംവത്സരം വാണു.

And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made.അവൻ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായതു ചെയ്തു; തന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയേയും പോലെ അല്ലതാനും; തന്റെ അപ്പൻ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ബാൽവിഗ്രഹം അവൻ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not from it.എന്നാലും യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ അവൻ വിട്ടുമാറാതെ മുറുകെ പിടിച്ചു.

And Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder, and rendered unto the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambs, and an hundred thousand rams, with the wool.മോവാബ് രാജാവായ മേശെക്കു അനവധി ആടുണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിന്നു ഒരു ലക്ഷം കുഞ്ഞാടുകളുടെയും ഒരു ലക്ഷം ആട്ടുകൊറ്റന്മാരുടെയും രോമം കൊടുത്തുവന്നു.

But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.എന്നാൽ ആഹാബ് മരിച്ചശേഷം മോവാബ് രാജാവു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവിനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു.

And king Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbered all Israel.ആ കാലത്തു യെഹോരാം രാജാവു ശമർയ്യയിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഒക്കെയും എണ്ണിനോക്കി.

And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me: will you go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as you are, my people as your people, and my horses as your horses.പിന്നെ അവൻ: മോവാബ്‌രാജാവു എന്നോടു മത്സരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; മോവാബ്യരോടു യുദ്ധത്തിന്നു നീ കൂടെ പോരുമോ എന്നു യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിനോടു ആളയച്ചു ചോദിപ്പിച്ചു. അതിന്നു അവൻ: ഞാൻ പോരാം; നീയും ഞാനും എന്റെ ജനവും നിന്റെ ജനവും എന്റെ കുതിരകളും നിന്റെ കുതിരകളും ഒരുപോലെയല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way through the wilderness of Edom.നാം ഏതു വഴിയായി പോകേണം എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു: എദോംമരുഭൂമിവഴിയായി തന്നേ എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു യെഹൂദാരാജാവും എദോംരാജാവുമായി പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവർ ഏഴു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി ചുറ്റിനടന്നശേഷം അവരോടുകൂടെയുള്ള സൈന്യത്തിന്നും മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കും വെള്ളം കിട്ടാതെയായി.

And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു: അയ്യോ, ഈ മൂന്നു രാജാക്കന്മാരെയും യഹോവ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തിയതു അവരെ മോവാബ്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.എന്നാൽ യഹോശാഫാത്ത്: നാം യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇവിടെ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകൻ ആരുമില്ലയോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ: ഏലീയാവിന്റെ കൈക്കു വെള്ളം ഒഴിച്ച ശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മകൻ എലീശാ ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.അവന്റെ പക്കൽ യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു ഉണ്ടു എന്നു യെഹോശാഫാത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവും യെഹോശാഫാത്തും എദോംരാജാവും കൂടെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു.

And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with you? get you to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the LORD has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.എലീശാ യിസ്രായേൽ രാജാവിനോടു: എനിക്കും നിനക്കും തമ്മിൽ എന്തു? നീ നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലും നിന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ പ്രവാചകന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കലും ചെല്ലുക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവു അവനോടു: അങ്ങനെയല്ല; ഈ മൂന്നു രാജാക്കന്മാരെയും മോവാബ്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ അവരെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.അതിന്നു എലീശാ: ഞാൻ സേവിച്ചുനില്ക്കുന്ന സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയാണ, യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ യെഹോശാഫാത്തിന്റെ മുഖം ഞാൻ ആദരിച്ചില്ല എങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ നോക്കുകയോ കടാക്ഷിക്കയോ ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു;

But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഒരു വീണക്കാരനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. വീണക്കാരൻ വായിക്കുമ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ അവന്റെമേൽ വന്നു.

And he said, Thus says the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഈ താഴ്വരയിൽ അനേകം കുഴികൾ വെട്ടുവിൻ.

For thus says the LORD, All of you shall not see wind, neither shall all of you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that all of you may drink, both all of you, and your cattle, and your beasts.നിങ്ങൾ കാറ്റു കാണുകയില്ല, മഴയും കാണുകയില്ല; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ ആടുമാടുകളും നിങ്ങളുടെ മൃഗവാഹനങ്ങളും കുടിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ഈ താഴ്വര വെള്ളംകൊണ്ടു നിറയും.

And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.ഇതു പോരാ എന്നു യഹോവെക്കു തോന്നീട്ടു അവൻ മോവാബ്യരെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചുതരും.

And all of you shall strike every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and ruin every good piece of land with stones.നിങ്ങൾ ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളും ശ്രേഷ്ഠനഗരങ്ങളുമെല്ലാം ജയിച്ചടക്കുകയും നല്ലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെല്ലാം മുറിക്കയും നീരുറവുകളെല്ലാം അടെച്ചുകളകയും നല്ല നിലങ്ങളെല്ലാം കല്ലുവാരിയിട്ടു ചീത്തയാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.

And it came to pass in the morning, when the food offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.പിറ്റെന്നാൾ രാവിലെ ഭോജനയാഗത്തിന്റെ സമയത്തു വെള്ളം എദോംവഴിയായി വരുന്നതുകണ്ടു; ദേശം വെള്ളംകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞു.

And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armour, and upward, and stood in the border.എന്നാൽ ഈ രാജാക്കന്മാർ തങ്ങളോടു യുദ്ധം ചെയ്‍വാൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു എന്നു മോവാബ്യരൊക്കെയും കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ ആയുധം ധരിപ്പാൻ തക്ക പ്രായത്തിലും മേലോട്ടുമുള്ളവരെ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടി അതിരിങ്കൽ ചെന്നുനിന്നു.

And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:രാവിലെ അവർ എഴുന്നേറ്റപ്പോൾ സൂര്യൻ വെള്ളത്തിന്മേൽ ഉദിച്ചിട്ടു മോവാബ്യർക്കു തങ്ങളുടെ നേരെയുള്ള വെള്ളം രക്തംപോലെ ചുവപ്പായി തോന്നി:

And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.അതു രക്തമാകുന്നു; ആ രാജാക്കന്മാർ തമ്മിൽ പൊരുതു അന്യോന്യം സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; ആകയാൽ മോവാബ്യരേ, കൊള്ളെക്കു വരുവിൻ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.

And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and stroke the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country.അവർ യിസ്രായേൽപാളയത്തിങ്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേല്യർ എഴുന്നേറ്റു മോവാബ്യരെ തോല്പിച്ചോടിച്ചു; അവർ ദേശത്തിൽ കടന്നുചെന്നു മോവാബ്യരെ പിന്നെയും തോല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof; nevertheless the slingers went about it, and stroke it.പട്ടണങ്ങളെ അവർ ഇടിച്ചു നല്ലനിലമൊക്കെയും ഓരോരുത്തൻ ഓരോ കല്ലു ഇട്ടു നികത്തി നീരുറവുകളെല്ലാം അടെച്ചു നല്ലവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെല്ലാം മുറിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; കീർഹരേശെത്തിൽ മാത്രം അവർ അതിന്റെ കല്ലു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ വിട്ടേച്ചു. എന്നാൽ കവിണക്കാർ അതിനെ വളഞ്ഞു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.മോവാബ്‌രാജാവു പട തനിക്കു അതിവിഷമമായി എന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോൾ എദോംരാജാവിനെ അണിമുറിച്ചാക്രമിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എഴുനൂറു ആയുധ പാണികളെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു; എങ്കിലും സാധിച്ചില്ല.

Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his position, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.ആകയാൽ അവൻ തന്റെ ശേഷം വാഴുവാനുള്ള ആദ്യജാതനെ പിടിച്ചു മതിലിന്മേൽ ദഹനയാഗം കഴിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേല്യരുടെമേൽ മഹാകോപം വന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ അവനെ വിട്ടു സ്വദേശത്തേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.
