1And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.അനന്തരം രാജാവു ആളയച്ചു; അവർ യെഹൂദയിലും യെരൂശലേമിലുമുള്ള എല്ലാ മൂപ്പന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി.
2And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.രാജാവും സകലയെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരും യെരൂശലേമിലെ സകലനിവാസികളും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും പ്രവാചകന്മാരും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം ജനമൊക്കെയും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കു ചെന്നു; യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽവെച്ചു കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയ നിയമപുസ്തകത്തിലെ വാക്യങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം അവർ കേൾക്കെ അവൻ വായിച്ചു.
3And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.രാജാവു തൂണിന്നരികെ നിന്നുംകൊണ്ടു താൻ യഹോവയെ അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കയും അവന്റെ കല്പനകളും സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണമനസ്സോടുംകൂടെ പ്രമാണിക്കയും ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന നിയമത്തിന്റെ വാക്യങ്ങൾ നിവർത്തിക്കയും ചെയ്യാമെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്തു. ജനമൊക്കെയും ഈ നിയമത്തിൽ യോജിച്ചു.
4And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.രാജാവു മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ ഹിൽക്കീയാവോടും രണ്ടാം തരത്തിലുള്ള പുരോഹിതന്മാരോടും വാതിൽ കാക്കുന്നവരോടും ബാലിന്നും അശേരെക്കും ആകാശത്തിലെ സർവ്വസൈന്യത്തിന്നും വേണ്ടി ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ഉപകരണങ്ങളൊക്കെയും യഹോവയുടെ മന്ദിരത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോകുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചു; യെരൂശലേമിന്നു പുറത്തു കിദ്രോൻ പ്രദേശത്തുവെച്ചു അവയെ ചുട്ടു, ചാരം ബേഥേലിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
5And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ ചുറ്റിലുമുള്ള പൂജാഗിരികളിൽ ധൂപം കാട്ടുവാൻ യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാർ നിയമിച്ചിരുന്ന പൂജാഗിരികളെയും ബാലിന്നും സൂര്യന്നും ചന്ദ്രന്നും ഗ്രഹങ്ങൾക്കും ആകാശത്തിലെ സർവ്വസൈന്യത്തിന്നും ധൂപം കാട്ടിയവരെയും അവൻ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
6And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠയെയും അവൻ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽനിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിന്നു പുറത്തു കിദ്രോൻ തോട്ടിങ്കലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു കിദ്രോൻ താഴ്വീതിയിൽവെച്ചു ചുട്ടുപൊടിയാക്കി പൊടി സാമാന്യജനത്തിന്റെ ശവക്കുഴികളിന്മേൽ ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
7And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.സ്ത്രീകൾ അശേരെക്കു കൂടാരശീലകൾ നെയ്ത ഇടങ്ങളായി യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിങ്കലുള്ള പുരുഷമൈഥുനക്കാരുടെ വീടുകളെയും അവൻ ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
8And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man's left hand at the gate of the city.അവൻ യെഹൂദാപട്ടണങ്ങളിൽനിന്നു സകല പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും വരുത്തി, ഗേബമുതൽ ബേർ-ശേബവരെ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ ധൂപം കാട്ടിയിരുന്ന പൂജാഗിരികളെ അശുദ്ധമാക്കി, പട്ടണവാതിൽപ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കൽ ഇടത്തുഭാഗത്തു നഗരാധിപതിയായ യോശുവയുടെ വാതിൽക്കലുള്ള പടിവാതിലുകളുടെ പൂജാഗിരികളെയും അവൻ ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
9Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.എന്നാൽ പൂജാഗിരിപുരോഹിതന്മാർ യെരൂശലേമിലുള്ള യഹോവയുടെ യാഗപീഠത്തിങ്കൽ കയറിയില്ല; അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പം തിന്നതേയുള്ളു.
10And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.ആരും തന്റെ മകനെയോ മകളെയോ മോലെക്കിന്നു അഗ്നിപ്രവേശം ചെയ്യിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ബെൻ-ഹിന്നോംതാഴ്വരയിലെ ദഹനസ്ഥലവും അവൻ അശുദ്ധമാക്കി.
11And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിലേക്കുള്ള പ്രവേശനത്തിങ്കൽ വളപ്പിന്നകത്തുള്ള നാഥാൻ-മേലെക്ക് എന്ന ഷണ്ഡന്റെ അറെക്കരികെ യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാർ സൂര്യന്നു പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരുന്ന അശ്വബിംബങ്ങളെ അവൻ നീക്കി, സൂര്യരഥങ്ങളെ തീയിലിട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
12And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാർ ആഹാസിന്റെ മാളികയുടെ മേൽപുരയിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന ബലിപീഠങ്ങളെയും മനശ്ശെ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ രണ്ടു പ്രാകാരങ്ങളിലും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന ബലിപീഠങ്ങളെയും രാജാവു തകർത്തു അവിടെനിന്നു നീക്കി അവയുടെ പൊടി കിദ്രോൻ തോട്ടിൽ ഇട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
13And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.യെരൂശലേമിന്നെതിരെ നാശപർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ വലത്തു ഭാഗത്തു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായ ശലോമോൻ സീദോന്യരുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛബിംബമായ അസ്തോരെത്തിന്നും മോവാബ്യരുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛബിംബമായ കെമോശിന്നും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ മ്ളേച്ഛബിംബമായ മിൽക്കോമിന്നും പണിതിരുന്ന പൂജാഗിരികളെയും രാജാവു അശുദ്ധമാക്കി.
14And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.അവൻ വിഗ്രഹസ്തംഭങ്ങളെ തകർത്തു അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെ വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു, അവ നിന്നിരുന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങളെ മനുഷ്യാസ്ഥികൾകൊണ്ടു നിറെച്ചു.
15Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.അത്രയുമല്ല, യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാം ബേഥേലിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന യാഗപീഠവും പൂജാഗിരിയും അവൻ ഇടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; പൂജാഗിരി അവൻ ചുട്ടു പൊടിയാക്കി, അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠയും ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
16And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchers that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchers, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.എന്നാൽ യോശീയാവു തിരിഞ്ഞു നോക്കിയപ്പോൾ അവിടെ മലയിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന കല്ലറകൾ കണ്ടിട്ടു ആളയച്ചു കല്ലറകളിൽനിന്നു അസ്ഥികളെ എടുപ്പിച്ചു, ഈ കാര്യം മുന്നറിയിച്ചിരുന്ന ദൈവപുരുഷൻ പ്രസ്താവിച്ച യഹോവയുടെ വചനപ്രകാരം ആ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടു അതു അശുദ്ധമാക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
17Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the tomb of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that you have done against the altar of Bethel.ഞാൻ കാണുന്ന ആ ജ്ഞാപകസ്തംഭം എന്തു എന്നു അവൻ ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു ആ പട്ടണക്കാർ അവനോടു: അതു യെഹൂദയിൽനിന്നു വരികയും നീ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങളെ ബേഥേലിലെ യാഗപീഠത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു മുന്നറിയിക്കയും ചെയ്ത ദൈവ പുരുഷന്റെ കല്ലറയാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.അപ്പോൾ അവൻ: അതു ഇരിക്കട്ടെ; അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെ ആരും അനക്കരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ അവന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെയും ശമർയ്യയിൽനിന്നു വന്ന പ്രവാചകന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെയും വിട്ടേച്ചുപോയി.
19And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാർ ശമർയ്യാപട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന സകലപൂജാഗിരിക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളെയും യോശീയാവു നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു ബേഥേലിൽ അവൻ ചെയ്തതുപോലെയൊക്കെയും അവയോടും ചെയ്തു.
20And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men's bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.അവൻ അവിടെയുള്ള പൂജാഗിരിപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയൊക്കെയും ബലിപീഠങ്ങളിന്മേൽ വെട്ടിക്കൊല്ലിക്കയും അവയുടെ മേൽ മനുഷ്യാസ്ഥികൾ ചുടുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലകൂ മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.
21And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.അനന്തരം രാജാവു സകലജനത്തോടും: ഈ നിയമപുസ്കത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന പ്രകാരം നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു പെസഹ ആചരിപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
22Surely there was not held such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;യിസ്രായേലിന്നു ന്യായപാലനം ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ന്യായാധിപന്മാരുടെ കാലം മുതല്ക്കും യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെയും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെയും കാലത്തും ഇതുപോലെ ഒരു പെസഹ ആചരിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
23But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was held to the LORD in Jerusalem.യോശീയാരാജാവിന്റെ പതിനെട്ടാം ആണ്ടിൽ യെരൂശലേമിൽ യഹോവെക്കു ഈ പെസഹ ആചരിച്ചു.
24Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD.ഹിൽക്കീയാപുരോഹിതൻ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ കണ്ടെത്തിയ പുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരുന്ന ന്യായപ്രാമണത്തിന്റെ വാക്യങ്ങളെ നിവർത്തിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം യോശീയാവു വെളിച്ചപ്പാടന്മാരെയും ലക്ഷണം പറയുന്നവരെയും ഗൃഹബിംബങ്ങളെയും മറ്റുവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും യെഹൂദാദേശത്തും യെരൂശലേമിലും കണ്ട സകലമ്ളേച്ഛതകളെയും അശേഷം നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
25And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.അവനെപ്പോലെ പൂർണ്ണ ഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണമനസ്സോടും പൂർണ്ണശക്തിയോടും കൂടെ മോശെയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണ പ്രകാരമൊക്കെയും യഹോവയിങ്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞ ഒരു രാജാവു മുമ്പുണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല, പിമ്പു ഒരുത്തൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റിട്ടുമില്ല.
26Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him likewise.എങ്കിലും മനശ്ശെ യഹോവയെ കോപിപ്പിച്ച സകലകോപഹേതുക്കളും നിമിത്തം യെഹൂദയുടെ നേരെ ജ്വലിച്ച തന്റെ മഹാകോപത്തിന്റെ ഉഗ്രതയെ യഹോവ വിട്ടുമാറാതെ:
27And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.ഞാൻ യിസ്രായേലിനെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞതുപോലെ യെഹൂദയെയും എന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്നു നീക്കുകയും ഞാൻ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ഈ യെരൂശലേം നഗരത്തെയും എന്റെ നാമം അവിടെ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ആലയത്തെയും ത്യജിച്ചുകളകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു യഹോവ കല്പിച്ചു.
28Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?യോശീയാവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
29In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.അവന്റെ കാലത്തു മിസ്രയീംരാജാവായ ഫറവോൻ-നെഖോ അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ നേരെ ഫ്രാത്ത് നദിക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; യോശീയാരാജാവു അവന്റെ നേരെ ചെന്നു; അവൻ അവനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു മെഗിദ്ദോവിൽവെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു.
30And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's position.അവന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ മരിച്ചുപോയവനെ രഥത്തിൽ കയറ്റി മെഗിദ്ദോവിൽനിന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു അവന്റെ സ്വന്തകല്ലറയിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. പിന്നെ ദേശത്തെ ജനം യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസിനെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു വന്നു അഭിഷേകം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ അപ്പന്നുപകരം രാജാവാക്കി.
31Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.യെഹോവാഹാസ് വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തിമൂന്നു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ മൂന്നു മാസം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഹമൂതൽ എന്നു പേർ; അവൾ ലിബ്നക്കാരനായ യിരെമ്യാവിന്റെ മകൾ ആയിരുന്നു.
32And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.അവൻ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു.
33And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാഴാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഫറവോൻ-നെഖോ ഹമാത്ത് ദേശത്തിലെ രിബ്ളയിൽവെച്ചു അവനെ ബന്ധിച്ചു, ദേശത്തിന്നു നൂറു താലന്തു വെള്ളിയും ഒരു താലന്തു പൊന്നും പിഴ കല്പിച്ചു.
34And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.ഫറവോൻ-നെഖോ യോശീയാവിന്റെ മകനായ എല്യാക്കീമിനെ അവന്റെ അപ്പനായ യോശീയാവിന്നു പകരം രാജാവാക്കി; അവന്റെ പേർ യെഹോയാക്കീം എന്നു മാറ്റി; യെഹോവാഹാസിനെ അവൻ കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവൻ മിസ്രയീമിൽ ചെന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു മരിച്ചുപോയി.
35And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.ആ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും യെഹോയാക്കീം ഫറവോന്നു കൊടുത്തു; എന്നാൽ ഫറവോന്റെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം വെള്ളി കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ ദേശത്തു വരിയിട്ടു; അവൻ ദേശത്തെ ജനത്തിൽ ഓരോരുത്തന്റെയും പേരിൽ വരിയിട്ടതുപോലെ വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും അവരവരോടു പിരിച്ചെടുത്തു ഫറവോൻ-നെഖോവിന്നു കൊടുത്തു.
36Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.യെഹോയാക്കീം വാഴ്ചതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ അവന്നു ഇരുപത്തഞ്ചു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവൻ പതിനൊന്നു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമിൽ വാണു. അവന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു സെബീദാ എന്നു പേർ; അവൾ രൂമക്കാരനായ പെദായാവിന്റെ മകൾ ആയിരുന്നു.
