Deuteronomy 4

Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, in order to do them, that all of you may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers gives you.ഇപ്പോൾ യിസ്രായേലേ, നിങ്ങൾ ജീവിച്ചിരിപ്പാനും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശം ചെന്നു കൈവശമാക്കുവാനും തക്കവണ്ണം നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ഉപദേശിക്കുന്ന ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും കേൾപ്പിൻ.

All of you shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall all of you diminish ought from it, that all of you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനകളെ നിങ്ങൾ പ്രമാണിക്കേണം. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന വചനത്തോടു കൂട്ടുകയോ അതിൽനിന്നു കുറെക്കയോ ചെയ്യരുതു.

Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD your God has destroyed them from among you.ബാൽ-പെയോരിന്റെ സംഗതിയിൽ യഹോവ ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ണാലെ കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു: ബാൽ-പെയോരിനെ പിന്തുടർന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുവല്ലോ.

But all of you that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു പറ്റിച്ചേർന്നിരുന്ന നിങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെയും ഇന്നു ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നു.

Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that all of you should do so in the land where all of you go to possess it.നിങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ ചെല്ലുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചു നടപ്പാനായി എന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും ഉപദേശിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.അവയെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടപ്പിൻ; ഇതു തന്നേയല്ലോ ജാതികളുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും ആയിരിക്കുന്നതു. അവർ ഈ കല്പനകളൊക്കെയും കേട്ടിട്ടു: ഈ ശ്രേഷ്ഠജാതി ജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും ഉള്ള ജനം തന്നേ എന്നു പറയും.

For what nation is there so great, who has God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു നാം വിളിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്കുമ്പോഴൊക്കെയും അവൻ നമുക്കു അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ ദൈവം ഇത്ര അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ശ്രേഷ്ഠജാതി ഏതുള്ളു?

And what nation is there so great, that has statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വെക്കുന്ന ഈ സകലന്യായപ്രമാണവുംപോലെ ഇത്ര നീതിയുള്ള ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും ഉള്ള ശ്രേഷ്ഠജാതി ഏതുള്ളു?

Only take heed to yourself, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which yours eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life: but teach them your sons, and your sons' sons;കണ്ണാലെ കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങൾ നീ മറക്കാതെയും നിന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലത്തൊരിക്കലും അവ നിന്റെ മനസ്സിൽനിന്നു വിട്ടുപോകാതെയും ഇരിപ്പാൻ മാത്രം സൂക്ഷിച്ചു നിന്നെത്തന്നേ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ കാത്തുകൊൾക; നിന്റെ മക്കളോടും മക്കളുടെ മക്കളോടും അവയെ ഉപദേശിക്കേണം.

Specially the day that you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.വിശേഷാൽ ഹോരേബിൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന ദിവസത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായ കാര്യം മറക്കരുതു. അന്നു യഹോവ എന്നോടു: ജനത്തെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വിളിച്ചുകൂട്ടുക; ഞാൻ എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ അവരെ കേൾപ്പിക്കും; അവർ ഭൂമിയിൽ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നാൾ ഒക്കെയും എന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടുവാൻ പഠിക്കയും തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെ പഠിപ്പിക്കയും വേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

And all of you came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ അടുത്തുവന്നു പർവ്വതത്തിന്റെ അടിവാരത്തു നിന്നു; അന്ധകാരവും മേഘവും കൂരിരുളും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കെ പർവ്വതം ആകാശ മദ്ധ്യത്തോളം തീ കാളിക്കത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

And the LORD spoke unto you out of the midst of the fire: all of you heard the voice of the words, but saw no embodiment; only all of you heard a voice.യഹോവ തീയുടെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു; നിങ്ങൾ വാക്കുകളുടെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു; ശബ്ദംമാത്രം കേട്ടതല്ലാതെ രൂപം ഒന്നും കണ്ടില്ല.

And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ച തന്റെ നിയമമായ പത്തു കല്പന അവൻ നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കയും രണ്ടു കല്പലകയിൽ എഴുതുകയും ചെയ്തു.

And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that all of you might do them in the land where all of you go over to possess it.നിങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ കടന്നുചെല്ലുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചുനടക്കേണ്ടുന്നതിന്നുള്ള ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും നിങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിക്കേണമെന്നു യഹോവ അക്കാലത്തു എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

Take all of you therefore good heed unto yourselves; for all of you saw no manner of embodiment on the day that the LORD spoke unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:നിങ്ങൾ നന്നായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ; യഹോവ ഹോരേബിൽ തീയുടെ നടുവിൽ നിന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത നാളിൽ നിങ്ങൾ രൂപം ഒന്നും കണ്ടില്ലല്ലോ.

Lest all of you corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the embodiment of any figure, the likeness of male or female,അതു കൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങൾ ആണിന്റെയെങ്കിലും പെണ്ണിന്റെയെങ്കിലും സാദൃശ്യമോ,

The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flies in the air,ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള യാതൊരു മൃഗത്തിന്റെയും സാദൃശ്യമോ, ആകാശത്തു പറക്കുന്ന യാതൊരു പക്ഷിയുടെയും സാദൃശ്യമോ,

The likeness of any thing that creeps on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള യാതൊരു ഇഴജാതിയുടെയും സാദൃശ്യമോ, ഭൂമിക്കു കീഴെ വെള്ളത്തിലുള്ള യാതൊരു മത്സ്യത്തിന്റെയും സാദൃശ്യമോ, ഇങ്ങനെ യാതൊന്നിന്റെയും പ്രതിമയായ വിഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കി വഷളത്വം പ്രവർത്തിക്കരുതു.

And lest you lift up yours eyes unto heaven, and when you see the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, should be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD your God has divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.നീ ആകാശസൈന്യമായ സൂര്യനെയും ചന്ദ്രനെയും നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെയും നോക്കിക്കാണുമ്പോൾ അവയെ നമസ്കരിപ്പാനും സേവിപ്പാനും വശീകരിക്കപ്പെടരുതു; അവയെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴെങ്ങുമുള്ള സർവ്വജാതികൾക്കും പങ്കിട്ടു കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

But the LORD has taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as all of you are this day.നിങ്ങളെയോ ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ തനിക്കു അവകാശ ജനമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു നിങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീം എന്ന ഇരിമ്പുലയിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Furthermore the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and swore that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD your God gives you for an inheritance:എന്നാൽ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ നിമിത്തം എന്നോടു കോപിച്ചു; ഞാൻ യോർദ്ദാൻ കടക്കയില്ലെന്നും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരുന്ന നല്ല ദേശത്തിൽ ഞാൻ ചെല്ലുകയില്ലെന്നും സത്യംചെയ്തു.

But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but all of you shall go over, and possess that good land.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ യോർദ്ദാൻ കടക്കാതെ ഈ ദേശത്തുവെച്ചു മരിക്കും; നിങ്ങളോ കടന്നു ചെന്നു ആ നല്ലദേശം കൈവശമാക്കും.

Take heed unto yourselves, lest all of you forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD your God has forbidden you.നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള അവന്റെ നിയമം നിങ്ങൾ മറന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ വിരോധിച്ചതുപോലെ യാതൊന്നിന്റെയും സാദൃശ്യമായ വിഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കാതിരിപ്പാൻ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾവിൻ.

For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ദഹിപ്പിക്കുന്ന അഗ്നിയല്ലോ; തീക്ഷ്ണതയുള്ള ദൈവം തന്നേ.

²⁵

When you shall brought forth children, and children's children, and all of you shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD your God, to provoke him to anger:നീ മക്കളെയും മക്കളുടെ മക്കളെയും ജനിപ്പിച്ചു ദേശത്തു ഏറെക്കാലം പാർത്തു വഷളായിത്തീർന്നിട്ടു വല്ലതിന്റെയും സാദൃശ്യമായ വിഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കി നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു അനിഷ്ടമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു അവനെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചാൽ

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that all of you shall soon utterly perish from off the land unto which all of you go over Jordan to possess it; all of you shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.നിങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നുചെല്ലുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ വേഗത്തിൽ നശിച്ചുപോകുമെന്നു ഞാൻ ഇന്നു ആകാശത്തെയും ഭൂമിയെയും നിങ്ങൾക്കു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷിനിർത്തി പറയുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ അവിടെ ദീർഘായുസ്സോടിരിക്കാതെ നിർമ്മൂലമായ്പോകും.

²⁷

And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and all of you shall be left few in number among the heathen, where the LORD shall lead you.യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ചിതറിക്കും; യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ കൊണ്ടുപോയാക്കുന്ന ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിങ്ങൾ ചുരുക്കംപേരായി ശേഷിക്കും.

²⁸

And there all of you shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.കാണ്മാനും കേൾപ്പാനും ഭക്ഷിപ്പാനും മണക്കുവാനും പ്രാപ്തിയില്ലാത്തവയായി മരവും കല്ലുംകൊണ്ടു മനുഷ്യരുടെ കൈപ്പണിയായ ദേവന്മാരെ നിങ്ങൾ അവിടെ സേവിക്കും.

²⁹

But if from thence you shall seek the LORD your God, you shall find him, if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.എങ്കിലും അവിടെ വെച്ചു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നീ തിരകയും പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണമനസ്സോടുംകൂടെ അന്വേഷിക്കയും ചെയ്താൽ അവനെ കണ്ടെത്തും.

When you are in tribulation, and all these things are come upon you, even in the latter days, if you turn to the LORD your God, and shall be obedient unto his voice;നീ ക്ളേശത്തിലാകയും ഇവ ഒക്കെയും നിന്റെ മേൽ വരികയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ നീ ഭാവികാലത്തു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിക്കും.

³¹

(For the LORD your God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake you, neither destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore unto them.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കരുണയുള്ള ദൈവമല്ലോ; അവൻ നിന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയില്ല, നശിപ്പിക്കയില്ല, നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യംചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള തന്റെ നിയമം മറക്കയുമില്ല.

For ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there has been any such thing as this great thing is, or has been heard like it?ദൈവം മനുഷ്യനെ ഭൂമിയിൽ സൃഷ്ടിച്ച നാൾമുതൽ നിനക്കു മുമ്പുണ്ടായ പൂർവ്വകാലത്തിലും ആകാശത്തിന്റെ ഒരു അറ്റം തുടങ്ങി മറ്റെ അറ്റത്തോളവും എവിടെയെങ്കിലും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള മഹാകാര്യം നടന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ, കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്നു നീ അന്വേഷിക്ക.

Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?ഏതൊരു ജാതിയെങ്കിലും നീ കേട്ടതുപോലെ തീയുടെ നടുവിൽ നിന്നു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേൾക്കയും ജീവനോടിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

³⁴

Or has God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?അല്ലെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ മിസ്രയീമിൽവെച്ചു നീ കാൺകെ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്തതു പോലെ ഒക്കെയും പരീക്ഷകൾ, അടയാളങ്ങൾ, അത്ഭുതങ്ങൾ, യുദ്ധം, ബലമുള്ള കൈ, നീട്ടിയ ഭുജം, വലിയ ഭയങ്കരപ്രവൃത്തികൾ എന്നിവയാൽ ദൈവം ഒരു ജാതിയെ മറ്റൊരു ജാതിയുടെ നടുവിൽ നിന്നു തനിക്കായി ചെന്നെടുപ്പാൻ ഉദ്യമിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

³⁵

Unto you it was showed, that you might know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.നിനക്കോ ഇതു കാണ്മാൻ സംഗതിവന്നു; യഹോവ തന്നേ ദൈവം, അവനല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരുത്തനുമില്ല എന്നു നീ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

³⁶

Out of heaven he made you to hear his voice, that he might instruct you: and upon earth he showed you his great fire; and you heard his words out of the midst of the fire.അവൻ നിനക്കു ബുദ്ധിയുപദേശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു തന്റെ ശബ്ദം നിന്നെ കേൾപ്പിച്ചു; ഭൂമിയിൽ തന്റെ മഹത്തായ തീയും നിന്നെ കാണിച്ചു; നീ അവന്റെ വചനവും തീയുടെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു കേട്ടു.

³⁷

And because he loved your fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought you out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ അവരുടെ സന്തതിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

³⁸

To drive out nations from before you greater and mightier than you are, to bring you in, to give you their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.നിന്നെക്കാൾ വലിപ്പവും ബലവുമുള്ള ജാതികളെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളവാനും ഇന്നുള്ളതുപോലെ അവരുടെ ദേശത്തെ നിനക്കു അവകാശമായി തരേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുപോയാക്കുവാനും തന്റെ സാന്നിദ്ധ്യവും മഹാശക്തിയുംകൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീമിൽ നിന്നു നിന്നെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു.

Know therefore this day, and consider it in yours heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.ആകയാൽ മീതെ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലും താഴെ ഭൂമിയിലും യഹോവ തന്നേ ദൈവം, മറ്റൊരുത്തനുമില്ല എന്നു നീ ഇന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു മനസ്സിൽ വെച്ചുകൊൾക.

You shall keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you, and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days upon the earth, which the LORD your God gives you, for ever.നിനക്കും നിന്റെ മക്കൾക്കും നന്നായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു സദാകാലത്തേക്കും നല്കുന്ന ദേശത്തു നീ ദീർഘായുസ്സോടിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന അവന്റെ ചട്ടങ്ങളും കല്പനകളും പ്രാമണിക്ക.

Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;അക്കാലത്തു മോശെ യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ കിഴക്കു മൂന്നു പട്ടണം വേർതിരിച്ചു.

That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unexpectedly, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:പൂർവ്വദ്വേഷം കൂടാതെ അബദ്ധവശാൽ കൂട്ടുകാരനെ കൊന്നവൻ ആ പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നിൽ ഓടിക്കയറി അവിടെ ചെന്നു ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

Namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, of the Manassites.അങ്ങനെ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മലനാട്ടിലുള്ള ബേസെർ രൂബേന്യർക്കും ഗിലെയാദിലെ രാമോത്ത് ഗാദ്യർക്കും ബാശാനിലെ ഗോലാൻ മനശ്ശെയർക്കും നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.

And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:മോശെ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ച ന്യായപ്രമാണം ഇതു തന്നേ.

These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt.യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടശേഷം മോശെ യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ ഹെശ്ബോനിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്ന അമോർയ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ ദേശത്തു ബേത്ത്--പെയോരിന്നെതിരെയുള്ള താഴ്വരയിൽവെച്ചു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞ സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും ഇവ തന്നേ.

On this side Jordan, in the valley opposite to Bethpeor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel stroke, after they were come forth out of Egypt:മോശെയും യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളും മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടശേഷം ആ രാജാവിനെ തോല്പിച്ചു.

And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;അവന്റെ ദേശവും ബാശാൻ രാജാവായ ഓഗിന്റെ ദേശവുമായി

From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is Hermon,അർന്നോൻ താഴ്വരയുടെ അറ്റത്തുള്ള അരോവേർമുതൽ ഹെർമ്മോനെന്ന സീയോൻ പർവ്വതംവരെയും

And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ കിഴക്കു പിസ്ഗയുടെ ചരിവിന്നു താഴെ അരാബയിലെ കടൽവരെയുള്ള താഴ്വീതി ഒക്കെയും ഇങ്ങനെ യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ കിഴക്കുള്ള രണ്ടു അമോർയ്യ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെയും ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കി.

Deuteronomy 5

And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that all of you may learn them, and keep, and do them.മോശെ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: യിസ്രായേലേ, ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങളെ കേൾപ്പിക്കുന്ന ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും കേൾപ്പിൻ; അവയെ പഠിക്കയും പ്രമാണിച്ചനുസരിക്കയും ചെയ്‍വിൻ.

The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഹോരേബിൽവെച്ചു നമ്മോടു ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.ഈ നിയമം യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടല്ല, നമ്മോടു, ഇന്നു ഇവിടെ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്ന നമ്മോടു ഒക്കെയും തന്നേ ചെയ്തതു.

The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,യഹോവ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ തീയുടെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങളോടു അഭിമുഖമായി അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

(I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to show you the word of the LORD: for all of you were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,തീ ഹേതുവായി നിങ്ങൾ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കയറാഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു യഹോവയുടെ വചനം നിങ്ങളോടു അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ അക്കാലത്തു യഹോവെക്കും നിങ്ങൾക്കും മദ്ധ്യേനിന്നു. അവൻ കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:

I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.അടിമവീടായ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ദൈവം ആകുന്നു.

You shall have no other gods before me.ഞാനല്ലാതെ അന്യദൈവങ്ങൾ നിനക്കു ഉണ്ടാകരുതു.

You shall not make you any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:വിഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കരുതു; മീതെ സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ എങ്കിലും താഴെ ഭൂമിയിൽ എങ്കിലും ഭൂമിക്കു കിഴെ വെള്ളത്തിൽ എങ്കിലും ഉള്ള യാതൊന്നിന്റെയും പ്രതിമ അരുതു.

You shall not bow down yourself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,അവയെ നമസ്കരിക്കയോ സേവിക്കയോ ചെയ്യരുതു; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്ന ഞാൻ തീക്ഷ്ണതയുള്ള ദൈവം ആകുന്നു; എന്നെ പകെക്കുന്നവരിൽ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അകൃത്യം മൂന്നാമത്തെയും നാലാമത്തെയും തലമുറവരെ മക്കളുടെ മേൽ സന്ദർശിക്കയും

And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.എന്നെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവർക്കു ആയിരം തലമുറവരെ ദയകാണിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ നാമം വൃഥാ എടുക്കരുതു; തന്റെ നാമം വൃഥാ എടുക്കുന്നവനെ യഹോവ ശിക്ഷിക്കാതെ വിടുകയില്ല.

Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD your God has commanded you.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ശബ്ബത്തുനാൾ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു ആചരിക്ക.

Six days you shall labour, and do all your work:ആറുദിവസം അദ്ധ്വാനിച്ചു നിന്റെ വേല ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്ക.

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor yours ox, nor yours ass, nor any of your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates; that your manservant and your maidservant may rest as well as you.ഏഴാം ദിവസമോ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ശബ്ബത്താകുന്നു; അന്നു നീയും നിന്റെ മകനും മകളും നിന്റെ വേലക്കാരനും വേലക്കാരത്തിയും നിന്റെ കാളയും കഴുതയും നിനക്കുള്ള യാതൊരു നാൽക്കാലിയും നിന്റെ പടിവാതിലുകൾക്കകത്തുള്ള അന്യനും ഒരു വേലയും ചെയ്യരുതു; നിന്റെ വേലക്കാരനും വേലക്കാരത്തിയും നിന്നെപ്പോലെ സ്വസ്ഥമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

And remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD your God brought you out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the sabbath day.നീ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു അടിമയായിരുന്നു എന്നും അവിടെ നിന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നെ ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടും നീട്ടിയ ഭുജംകൊണ്ടും പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു എന്നും ഓർക്ക; അതുകൊണ്ടു ശബ്ബത്തുനാൾ ആചരിപ്പാൻ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

Honour your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you; that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which the LORD your God gives you.നിനക്കു ദീർഘായുസ്സു ഉണ്ടാകുവാനും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിനക്കു നന്നായിരിപ്പാനും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നിന്റെ അപ്പനെയും അമ്മയെയും ബഹുമാനിക്ക.

You shall not kill.കുല ചെയ്യരുതു.

¹⁸

Neither shall you commit adultery.വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുതു.

¹⁹

Neither shall you steal.മോഷ്ടിക്കരുതു.

Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbour.കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ നേരെ കള്ളസ്സാക്ഷ്യം പറയരുതു.

Neither shall you desire your neighbour's wife, neither shall you covet your neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is your neighbour's.കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയെ മോഹിക്കരുതു; കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭവനത്തെയും നിലത്തെയും അവന്റെ വേലക്കാരനെയും വേലക്കാരത്തിയെയും അവന്റെ കാളയെയും കഴുതയെയും കൂട്ടുകാരന്നുള്ള യാതൊന്നിനെയും മോഹിക്കരുതു.

These words the LORD spoke unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.ഈ വചനങ്ങൾ യഹോവ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ തീ, മേഘം, അന്ധകാരം എന്നിവയുടെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ സർവ്വസഭയോടും അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു; ഇതിന്നപ്പുറം ഒന്നും കല്പിച്ചില്ല; അവ രണ്ടു കല്പലകയിൽ എഴുതി എന്റെ പക്കൽ തന്നു.

And it came to pass, when all of you heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire,) that all of you came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and your elders;എന്നാൽ പർവ്വതം തീ കാളിക്കത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കയിൽ അന്ധകാരത്തിന്റെ നടുവിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ശബ്ദംകേട്ടപ്പോൾ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ സകല ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരും മൂപ്പന്മാരുമായി എന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു.

And all of you said, Behold, the LORD our God has showed us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God does talk with man, and he lives.ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ തന്റെ തേജസ്സും മഹത്വവും ഞങ്ങളെ കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ; തീയുടെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു അവന്റെ ശബ്ദം ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവം മനുഷ്യരോടു സംസാരിച്ചിട്ടും അവർ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുമെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ ഇന്നു കണ്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു.

Now therefore why should we die? for this great fire will consume us: if we hear the voice of the LORD our God any more, then we shall die.ആകയാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ എന്തിന്നു മരിക്കുന്നു? ഈ മഹത്തായ തീക്കു ഞങ്ങൾ ഇരയായ്തീരും; ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ശബ്ദം ഇനിയും കേട്ടാൽ ഞങ്ങൾ മരിച്ചുപോകും.

For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?ഞങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ യാതൊരു ജഡമെങ്കിലും തീയുടെ നടുവിൽനിന്നു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടിട്ടു ജീവനോടെ ഇരുന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

Go you near, and hear all that the LORD our God shall say: and speak you unto us all that the LORD our God shall speak unto you; and we will hear it, and do it.നീ അടുത്തുചെന്നു നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും കേൾക്ക; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഒക്കെയും ഞങ്ങളോടു പറക: ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടു അനുസരിച്ചുകൊള്ളാം.

²⁸

And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when all of you spoke unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto you: they have well said all that they have spoken.നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ച വാക്കുകൾ യഹോവ കേട്ടു എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു: ഈ ജനം നിന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞവാക്കു ഞാൻ കേട്ടു; അവർ പറഞ്ഞതു ഒക്കെയും നല്ലതു.

²⁹

O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!അവർക്കും അവരുടെ മക്കൾക്കും എന്നേക്കും നന്നായിരിപ്പാൻ അവർ എന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നും എന്റെ കല്പനകളൊക്കെയും പ്രമാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഇങ്ങനെയുള്ള ഹൃദയം അവർക്കു എപ്പോഴും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ എത്ര നന്നു.

Go say to them, Get you into your tents again.നിങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുവിൻ എന്നു അവരോടു ചെന്നു പറക.

But as for you, stand you here by me, and I will speak unto you all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.നീയോ ഇവിടെ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ നിൽക്ക; ഞാൻ അവർക്കു അവകാശമായി കൊടുക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തു അവർ അനുസരിച്ചു നടപ്പാൻ നീ അവരെ ഉപദേശിക്കേണ്ടുന്ന സകലകല്പനകളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കും.

All of you shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you: all of you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്‍വാൻ ജാഗ്രതയായിരിപ്പിൻ; ഇടത്തോട്ടെങ്കിലും വലത്തോട്ടെങ്കിലും മാറരുതു.

All of you shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that all of you may live, and that it may be well with you, and that all of you may prolong your days in the land which all of you shall possess.നിങ്ങൾ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിങ്ങൾക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തു ദീർഘായുസ്സോടിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള എല്ലാവഴിയിലും നടന്നുകൊൾവിൻ.

Deuteronomy 6

Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that all of you might do them in the land where all of you go to possess it:നിങ്ങൾ കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ കടന്നുചെല്ലുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങൾ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ ജീവകാലം ഒക്കെയും നീയും നിന്റെ മകനും മകന്റെ മകനും ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ എല്ലാചട്ടങ്ങളും കല്പനകളും പ്രമാണിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന്നും

That you might fear the LORD your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.നീ ദീർഘായുസ്സോടിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നുമായി നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുവാൻ കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള കല്പനകളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും ഇവ ആകുന്നു.

Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that all of you may increase mightily, as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you, in the land that flows with milk and honey.ആകയാൽ യിസ്രായേലേ, നിനക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റവും വർദ്ധിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും നീ കേട്ടു ജാഗ്രതയോടെ അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്ക.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:യിസ്രായേലേ, കേൾക്ക; യഹോവ നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമാകുന്നു; യഹോവ ഏകൻ തന്നേ.

And you shall love the LORD your God with all yours heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നീ പൂർണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂർണ്ണമനസ്സോടും പൂർണ്ണശക്തിയോടും കൂടെ സ്നേഹിക്കേണം.

And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in yours heart:ഇന്നു ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന ഈ വചനങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കേണം.

And you shall teach them diligently unto your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in yours house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.നീ അവയെ നിന്റെ മക്കൾക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊടുക്കയും നീ വീട്ടിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോഴും വഴി നടക്കുമ്പോഴും കിടക്കുമ്പോഴും എഴുന്നേല്ക്കുമ്പോഴും അവയെക്കുറിച്ചു സംസാരിക്കയും വേണം.

And you shall bind them for a sign upon yours hand, and they shall be as frontlets between yours eyes.അവയെ അടയാളമായി നിന്റെ കൈമേൽ കെട്ടേണം; അവ നിന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾക്കു മദ്ധ്യേ പട്ടമായി ഇരിക്കേണം.

And you shall write them upon the posts of your house, and on your gates.അവയെ നിന്റെ വീട്ടിന്റെ കട്ടിളകളിൻ മേലും പടിവാതിലുകളിലും എഴുതേണം.

And it shall be, when the LORD your God shall have brought you into the land which he swore unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you great and goodly cities, which you builded not,നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിനക്കു തരുമെന്നു അബ്രാഹാം, യിസ്ഹാക്, യാക്കോബ്, എന്ന നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു നിന്നെ കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു നീ പണിയാത്ത വലുതും നല്ലതുമായ പട്ടണങ്ങളും

And houses full of all good things, which you filled not, and wells dug, which you dug not, vineyards and olive trees, which you planted not; when you shall have eaten and be full;നീ നിറെക്കാതെ സകലസമ്പത്തും നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന വീടുകളും നീ കുഴിക്കാത്ത കിണറുകളും നീ നട്ടുണ്ടാക്കാത്ത മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടങ്ങളും ഒലിവുതോട്ടങ്ങളും നിനക്കു തരികയും നീ തിന്നു തൃപ്തി പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ

Then beware lest you forget the LORD, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.നിന്നെ അടിമവീടായ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന യഹോവയെ മറക്കാതിരിപ്പാൻ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊൾക.

You shall fear the LORD your God, and serve him, and shall swear by his name.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു അവനെ സേവിക്കേണം; അവന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ സത്യം ചെയ്യേണം.

¹⁴

All of you shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കോപം നിനക്കു വിരോധമായി ജ്വലിച്ചു നിന്നെ ഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു നശിപ്പിക്കാതിരിപ്പാൻ ചുറ്റുമിരിക്കുന്ന ജാതികളുടെ ദേവന്മാരായ അന്യ ദൈവങ്ങളുടെ പിന്നാലെ നീ പോകരുതു;

(For the LORD your God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD your God be kindled against you, and destroy you from off the face of the earth.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ തീക്ഷ്ണതയുള്ള ദൈവം ആകുന്നു.

All of you shall not tempt the LORD your God, as all of you tempted him in Massah.നിങ്ങൾ മസ്സയിൽവെച്ചു പരീക്ഷിച്ചതുപോലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ പരീക്ഷിക്കരുതു.

All of you shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള കല്പനകളും സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും നിങ്ങൾ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ പ്രമാണിക്കേണം.

And you shall do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which the LORD swore unto your fathers.നിനക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും യഹോവ നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത നല്ലദേശം നീ ചെന്നു കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ

To cast out all yours enemies from before you, as the LORD has spoken.നിന്റെ സകലശത്രുക്കളെയും നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടിച്ചുകളയേണ്ടതിന്നും നീ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ന്യായവും ഹിതവുമായുള്ളതിനെ ചെയ്യേണം.

And when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD our God has commanded you?നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും എന്തു എന്നു നാളെ നിന്റെ മകൻ നിന്നോടു ചോദിക്കുമ്പോൾ നീ നിന്റെ മകനോടു പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:

Then you shall say unto your son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand:ഞങ്ങൾ മിസ്രയീമിൽ ഫറവോന്നു അടിമകൾ ആയിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ യഹോവ ബലമുള്ള കൈകൊണ്ടു ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീമിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു.

And the LORD showed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes:മിസ്രയീമിന്റെയും ഫറവോന്റെയും അവന്റെ സകല കുടുംബത്തിന്റെയും മേൽ ഞങ്ങൾ കാൺകെ യഹോവ മഹത്തും ഉഗ്രവുമായുള്ള അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.

And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he swore unto our fathers.ഞങ്ങളേയോ താൻ നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത ദേശം തരുവാൻ അതിൽ കൊണ്ടുവന്നാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവിടെ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു

And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.എല്ലായ്പോഴും നമുക്കു നന്നായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഇന്നത്തെപ്പോലെ അവൻ നമ്മെ ജീവനോടെ രക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നുമായി നാം നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ ഭയപ്പെടുവാനും ഈ എല്ലാ ചട്ടങ്ങളെയും ആചരിപ്പാനും യഹോവ നമ്മോടു കല്പിച്ചു.

And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us.നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നാം അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ ഈ സകലകല്പനകളും ആചരിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം കാത്തുകൊള്ളുന്നു എങ്കിൽ നാം നീതിയുള്ളവരായിരിക്കും.

Deuteronomy 7

When the LORD your God shall bring you into the land where you go to possess it, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you;നീ കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ ചെല്ലുന്ന ദേശത്തു നിന്നെ കടത്തുകയും നിന്നെക്കാൾ പെരുപ്പവും ബലവുമുള്ള ജാതികളായ ഹിത്യർ, ഗിർഗ്ഗശ്യർ, അമോർയ്യർ, കനാന്യർ, പെരിസ്യർ, ഹിവ്യർ, യെബൂസ്യർ എന്നീ ഏഴു മഹാജാതികളെ നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളകയും

And when the LORD your God shall deliver them before you; you shall strike them, and utterly destroy them; you shall make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them:നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവരെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കയും നീ അവരെ തോല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ അവരെ നിർമ്മൂലമാക്കിക്കളയേണം; അവരോടു ഉടമ്പടി ചെയ്കയോ കൃപ കാണിക്കയോ അരുതു.

Neither shall you make marriages with them; your daughter you shall not give unto his son, nor his daughter shall you take unto your son.അവരുമായി വിവാഹസംബന്ധം ചെയ്യരുതു; നിന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെ അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കു കൊടുക്കയോ അവരുടെ പുത്രിമാരെ നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കു എടുക്കയോ ചെയ്യരുതു.

For they will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy you suddenly.അന്യദൈവങ്ങളെ സേവിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവർ നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ എന്നോടു അകറ്റിക്കളയും; യഹോവയുടെ കോപം നിങ്ങൾക്കു വിരോധമായി ജ്വലിച്ചു നിങ്ങളെ വേഗത്തിൽ നശിപ്പിക്കും.

But thus shall all of you deal with them; all of you shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.ആകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ അവരോടു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യേണം; അവരുടെ ബലിപീഠങ്ങൾ ഇടിക്കേണം; അവരുടെ ബിംബങ്ങളെ തകർക്കേണം; അവരുടെ അശേരപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെ വെട്ടിക്കളയേണം; അവരുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ തീയിൽ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളയേണം.

For you are an holy people unto the LORD your God: the LORD your God has chosen you to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു നീ ഒരു വിശുദ്ധജനം ആകുന്നു; ഭൂതലത്തിലുള്ള സകലജാതികളിലുംവെച്ചു നിന്നെ തനിക്കു സ്വന്തജനമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because all of you were more in number than any people; for all of you were the few of all people:നിങ്ങൾ സംഖ്യയിൽ സകലജാതികളെക്കാളും പെരുപ്പമുള്ളവരാകകൊണ്ടല്ല യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതു; നിങ്ങൾ സകലജാതികളെക്കാളും കുറഞ്ഞവരല്ലോ ആയിരുന്നതു.

But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, has the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു താൻ ചെയ്ത സത്യം പാലിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും അത്രേ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ ബലമുള്ള കയ്യാൽ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു അടിമവീടായ മിസ്രയീമിലെ രാജാവായ ഫറവോന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു വീണ്ടെടുത്തതു.

Know therefore that the LORD your God, he is God, the faithful God, which keeps covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;ആകയാൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ തന്നേ ദൈവം; അവൻ തന്നേ സത്യദൈവം എന്നു നീ അറിയേണം: അവൻ തന്നെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു തന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവർക്കു ആയിരം തലമുറവരെ നിയമവും ദയയും പാലിക്കുന്നു.

And repays them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hates him, he will repay him to his face.തന്നെ പകെക്കുന്നവരെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ അവർക്കു നേരിട്ടു പകരം കൊടുക്കുന്നു; തന്നെ പകെക്കുന്നവന്നു അവൻ താമസിയാതെ നേരിട്ടു പകരം കൊടുക്കും.

You shall therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command you this day, to do them.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ ഇന്നു നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന കല്പനകളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും വിധികളും നീ പ്രമാണിച്ചുനടക്കേണം.

Wherefore it shall come to pass, if all of you hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD your God shall keep unto you the covenant and the mercy which he swore unto your fathers:നിങ്ങൾ ഈ വിധികൾ കേട്ടു പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടന്നാൽ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യംചെയ്ത നിയമവും ദയയും നിനക്കായിട്ടു പാലിക്കും.

And he will love you, and bless you, and multiply you: he will also bless the fruit of your womb, and the fruit of your land, your corn, and your wine, and yours oil, the increase of your cattle, and the flocks of your sheep, in the land which he swore unto your fathers to give you.അവൻ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കും; അവൻ നിനക്കു തരുമെന്നു നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു സത്യംചെയ്ത ദേശത്തു നിന്റെ ഗർഭഫലവും നിന്റെ കൃഷിഫലവും ധാന്യവും വീഞ്ഞും എണ്ണയും നിന്റെ കന്നുകാലികളുടെ പേറും ആടുകളുടെ പിറപ്പും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും.

¹⁴

You shall be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.നീ സകലജാതികളെക്കാളും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും; വന്ധ്യനും വന്ധ്യയും നിങ്ങളിലാകട്ടെ നിന്റെ നാൽക്കാലികളിലാകട്ടെ ഉണ്ടാകയില്ല.

¹⁵

And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, upon you; but will lay them upon all them that hate you.യഹോവ സകലരോഗവും നിങ്കൽനിന്നു അകറ്റിക്കളയും; നീ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന മിസ്രയീമ്യരുടെ ദുർവ്വ്യാധികളിൽ ഒന്നും അവൻ നിന്റെ മേൽ വരുത്താതെ നിന്നെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവർക്കും അവയെ കൊടുക്കും.

¹⁶

And you shall consume all the people which the LORD your God shall deliver you; yours eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shall you serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto you.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കുന്ന സകലജാതികളെയും നീ മുടിച്ചുകളയേണം; നിനക്കു അവരോടു കനിവു തോന്നരുതു; അവരുടെ ദേവന്മാരെ നീ സേവിക്കരുതു; അതു നിനക്കു കണിയായിത്തീരും.

If you shall say in yours heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?ഈ ജാതികൾ എന്നെക്കാൾ പെരുപ്പം ഉള്ളവർ; അവരെ നീക്കിക്കളവാൻ എനിക്കു എങ്ങനെ കഴിയും എന്നു നീ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ പറയുമായിരിക്കും എന്നാൽ അവരെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു;

You shall not be afraid of them: but shall well remember what the LORD your God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഫറവോനോടും എല്ലാ മിസ്രയീമ്യരോടും ചെയ്തതായി

The great temptations which yours eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD your God brought you out: so shall the LORD your God do unto all the people of whom you are afraid.നിന്റെ കണ്ണാലെ കണ്ട വലിയ പരീക്ഷകളും അടയാളങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ച ബലമുള്ള കയ്യും നീട്ടിയ ഭുജവും നീ നല്ലവണ്ണം ഓർക്കേണം; നീ പേടിക്കുന്ന സകലജാതികളോടും നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യും.

Moreover the LORD your God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from you, be destroyed.അത്രയുമല്ല, ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവരും നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഒളിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നവരും നശിച്ചുപോകുംവരെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ കടുന്നലിനെ അയക്കും.

You shall not be affrighted at them: for the LORD your God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.നീ അവരെക്കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിക്കരുതു; നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ എന്ന വലിയവനും ഭയങ്കരനുമായ ദൈവം നിങ്ങളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഉണ്ടു.

And the LORD your God will put out those nations before you by little and little: you may not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon you.ആ ജാതികളെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കുറേശ്ശ കുറേശ്ശയായി നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയും; കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങൾ പെരുകി നിനക്കു ഉപദ്രവമാകാതിരിപ്പാൻ അവരെ ക്ഷണത്തിൽ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകൂടാ.

But the LORD your God shall deliver them unto you, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവരെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കയും അവർ നശിച്ചുപോകുംവരെ അവർക്കു മഹാപരാഭവം വരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യും. അവരുടെ രാജാക്കന്മാരെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കും; നീ അവരുടെ പേർ ആകാശത്തിൻ കീഴിൽനിന്നു ഇല്ലാതെയാക്കേണം.

And he shall deliver their kings into yours hand, and you shall destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed them.അവരെ സംഹരിച്ചുതീരുവോളം ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ നിൽക്കയില്ല.

²⁵

The graven images of their gods shall all of you burn with fire: you shall not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto you, lest you be snared therin: for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.അവരുടെ ദേവപ്രതിമകളെ തീയിൽ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടുകളയേണം; നീ വശീകരിക്കപ്പെടാതിരിപ്പാൻ അവയിന്മേലുള്ള വെള്ളിയും പൊന്നും മോഹിച്ചു എടുത്തുകൊള്ളരുതു; അതു നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവെക്കു അറെപ്പാകുന്നു.

²⁶

Neither shall you bring an abomination into yours house, lest you be a cursed thing like it: but you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly detest it; for it is a cursed thing.നീയും അതുപോലെ ശാപമായ്തീരാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അറെപ്പായുള്ളതു നിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോകരുതു; അതു നിനക്കു തീരെ അറെപ്പും വെറുപ്പുമായിരിക്കേണം; അതു ശാപഗ്രസ്തമല്ലോ.
