Job 7

Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of a worker?മർത്യന്നു ഭൂമിയിൽ യുദ്ധസേവയില്ലയോ? അവന്റെ ജീവകാലം കൂലിക്കാരന്റെ ജീവകാലംപോലെ തന്നേ.

As a servant earnestly desires the shadow, and as a worker looks for the reward of his work:വേലക്കാരൻ നിഴൽ വാഞ്ഛിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയും കൂലിക്കാരൻ കൂലിക്കു കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെയും

So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.വ്യർത്ഥമാസങ്ങൾ എനിക്കു അവകാശമായ്‍വന്നു, കഷ്ടരാത്രികൾ എനിക്കു ഓഹരിയായ്തീർന്നു.

When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be gone? and I am full of tossings back and forth unto the dawning of the day.കിടക്കുന്നേരം: ഞാൻ എപ്പോൾ എഴുന്നേല്ക്കും എന്നു പറയുന്നു; രാത്രിയോ ദീർഘിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; വെളുക്കുവോളം എനിക്കുരുളുക തന്നേ പണി.

My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dust; my skin is broken, and become loathsome.എന്റെ ദേഹം പുഴുവും മൺകട്ടയും ഉടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ ത്വക്കിൽ പുൺവായ്കൾ അടഞ്ഞു വീണ്ടും പഴുത്തുപൊട്ടുന്നു.

My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope.എന്റെ നാളുകൾ നെയ്ത്തോടത്തിലും വേഗതയുള്ളതു; പ്രത്യാശകൂടാതെ അവ കഴിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

O remember that my life is wind: mine eye shall no more see good.എന്റെ ജീവൻ ഒരു ശ്വാസം മാത്രം എന്നോർക്കേണമേ; എന്റെ കണ്ണു ഇനി നന്മയെ കാണുകയില്ല.

The eye of him that has seen me shall see me no more: yours eyes are upon me, and I am not.എന്നെ കാണുന്നവന്റെ കണ്ണു ഇനി എന്നെ കാണുകയില്ല; നിന്റെ കണ്ണു എന്നെ നോക്കും; ഞാനോ, ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കും.

As the cloud is consumed and vanishes away: so he that goes down to the grave shall come up no more.മേഘം ക്ഷയിച്ചു മാഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നതുപോലെ പാതാളത്തിലിറങ്ങുന്നവൻ വീണ്ടും കയറിവരുന്നില്ല.

He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.അവൻ തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിവരികയില്ല; അവന്റെ ഇടം ഇനി അവനെ അറികയുമില്ല.

Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ വായടെക്കയില്ല; എന്റെ മനഃപീഡയിൽ ഞാൻ സംസാരിക്കും; എന്റെ മനോവ്യസനത്തിൽ ഞാൻ സങ്കടം പറയും.

Am I a sea, or a whale, that you set a watch over me?നീ എനിക്കു കാവലാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞാൻ കടലോ കടലാനയോ ആകുന്നുവോ?

When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaints;എന്റെ കട്ടിൽ എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കും; എന്റെ മെത്ത എന്റെ വ്യസനം ശമിപ്പിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞാൽ

Then you scare me with dreams, and terrify me through visions:നീ സ്വപ്നംകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ അരട്ടുന്നു; ദർശനംകൊണ്ടും എന്നെ ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.

So that my soul chooses strangling, and death rather than my life.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ ഞെക്കിക്കുലയും ഈ അസ്ഥിക്കൂടത്തെക്കാൾ മരണവും തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നു.

I loathe it; I would not live always: let me alone; for my days are vanity.ഞാൻ അഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നേക്കും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കയില്ല; എന്നെ വിടേണമേ; എന്റെ ജീവകാലം ഒരു ശ്വാസം മാത്രമല്ലോ.

What is man, that you should magnify him? and that you should set yours heart upon him?മർത്യനെ നീ ഗണ്യമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും അവന്റെമേൽ ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും

And that you should visit him every morning, and try him every moment?അവനെ രാവിലെതോറും സന്ദർശിച്ചു മാത്രതോറും പരീക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും അവൻ എന്തുള്ളു?

How long will you not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?നീ എത്രത്തോളം നിന്റെ നോട്ടം എങ്കൽ നിന്നു മാറ്റാതിരിക്കും? ഞാൻ ഉമിനീർ ഇറക്കുവോളം എന്നെ വിടാതെയുമിരിക്കും?

I have sinned; what shall I do unto you, O you preserver of men? why have you set me as a mark against you, so that I am a burden to myself?ഞാൻ പാപം ചെയ്തുവെങ്കിൽ, മനുഷ്യപാലകനേ, ഞാൻ നിനക്കെന്തു ചെയ്യുന്നു? ഞാൻ എനിക്കു തന്നേ ഭാരമായിരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം നീ എന്നെ നിനക്കു ലക്ഷ്യമായി വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു?

And why do you not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and you shall seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.എന്റെ അതിക്രമം നീ ക്ഷമിക്കാതെയും അകൃത്യം മോചിക്കാതെയും ഇരിക്കുന്നതെന്തു? ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ പൊടിയിൽ കിടക്കും; നീ എന്നെ അന്വേഷിച്ചാൽ ഞാൻ ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കും.

Job 8

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,അതിന്നു ശൂഹ്യനായ ബിൽദാദ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

How long will you speak these things? and how long shall the words of your mouth be like a strong wind?എത്രത്തോളം നീ ഇങ്ങനെ സംസാരിക്കും? നിന്റെ വായിലെ വാക്കുകൾ വങ്കാറ്റുപോലെ ഇരിക്കും?

Does God pervert judgment? or does the Almighty pervert justice?ദൈവം ന്യായം മറിച്ചുകളയുമോ? സർവ്വശക്തൻ നീതിയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുമോ?

If your children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;നിന്റെ മക്കൾ അവനോടു പാപം ചെയ്തെങ്കിൽ അവൻ അവരെ അവരുടെ അതിക്രമങ്ങൾക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

If you would seek unto God early, and make your supplication to the Almighty;നീ ദൈവത്തെ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ അന്വേഷിക്കയും സർവ്വശക്തനോടപേക്ഷിക്കയും ചെയ്താൽ,

If you were pure and upright; surely now he would awake for you, and make the habitation of your righteousness prosperous.നീ നിർമ്മലനും നേരുള്ളവനുമെങ്കിൽ അവൻ ഇപ്പോൾ നിനക്കു വേണ്ടി ഉണർന്നുവരും; നിന്റെ നീതിയുള്ള വാസസ്ഥലത്തെ യഥാസ്ഥാനത്താക്കും.

Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end should greatly increase.നിന്റെ പൂർവ്വസ്ഥിതി അല്പമായ്തോന്നും; നിന്റെ അന്ത്യസ്ഥിതി അതിമഹത്തായിരിക്കും.

For enquire, I pray you, of the former age, and prepare yourself to the search of their fathers:നീ പണ്ടത്തെ തലമുറയോടു ചോദിക്ക; അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അന്വേഷണ ഫലം ഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊൾക.

(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)നാം ഇന്നലെ ഉണ്ടായവരും ഒന്നുമറിയാത്തവരുമല്ലോ; ഭൂമിയിൽ നമ്മുടെ ജീവകാലം ഒരു നിഴലത്രെ.

Shall not they teach you, and tell you, and utter words out of their heart?അവർ നിനക്കു ഉപദേശിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞുതരും; തങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽനിന്നു വാക്കുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കും.

Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?ചെളിയില്ലാതെ ഞാങ്ങണ വളരുമോ? വെള്ളമില്ലാതെ പോട്ടപ്പുല്ലു വളരുമോ?

Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.അതു അരിയാതെ പച്ചയായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ മറ്റു എല്ലാ പുല്ലിന്നും മുമ്പെ വാടിപ്പോകുന്നു.

So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:ദൈവത്തെ മറക്കുന്ന എല്ലാവരുടെയും പാത അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ; വഷളന്റെ ആശ നശിച്ചുപോകും;

Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.അവന്റെ ആശ്രയം അറ്റുപോകും; അവന്റെ ശരണം ചിലന്തിവലയത്രെ.

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.അവൻ തന്റെ വീട്ടിനെ ആശ്രയിക്കും; അതോ നിൽക്കയില്ല; അവൻ അതിനെ മുറുകെ പിടിക്കും; അതോ നിലനിൽക്കയില്ല.

He is green before the sun, and his branch shoots forth in his garden.വെയിലത്തു അവൻ പച്ചയായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ചില്ലികൾ അവന്റെ തോട്ടത്തിൽ പടരുന്നു.

His roots are wrapped about the heap, and sees the place of stones.അവന്റെ വേർ കൽക്കുന്നിൽ പിണയുന്നു; അതു കല്ലടുക്കിൽ ചെന്നു പിടിക്കുന്നു.

If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen you.അവന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു അവനെ നശിപ്പിച്ചാൽ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ല എന്നു അതു അവനെ നിഷേധിക്കും.

Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.ഇതാ, ഇതു അവന്റെ വഴിയുടെ സന്തോഷം; പൊടിയിൽനിന്നു മറ്റൊന്നു മുളെച്ചുവരും.

Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:ദൈവം നിഷ്കളങ്കനെ നിരസിക്കയില്ല; ദുഷ്‌പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരെ താങ്ങുകയുമില്ല.

Till he fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with rejoicing.അവൻ ഇനിയും നിന്റെ വായിൽ ചിരിയും നിന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിൽ ഉല്ലാസഘോഷവും നിറെക്കും.

They that hate you shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nothing.നിന്നെ പകക്കുന്നവർ ലജ്ജ ധരിക്കും; ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കൂടാരം ഇല്ലാതെയാകും.

Job 9

Then Job answered and said,അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

I know it is so truthfully: but how should man be just with God?അതു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ എന്നു എനിക്കും അറിയാം നിശ്ചയം; ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ മർത്യൻ നീതിമാനാകുന്നതെങ്ങിനെ?

If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.അവന്നു അവനോടു വ്യവഹരിപ്പാൻ ഇഷ്ടം തോന്നിയാൽ ആയിരത്തിൽ ഒന്നിന്നു ഉത്തരം പറവാൻ കഴികയില്ല.

He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?അവൻ ജ്ഞാനിയും മഹാശക്തനുമാകുന്നു; അവനോടു, ശഠിച്ചിട്ടു ഹാനിവരാത്തവൻ ആർ?

Which removes the mountains, and they know not: which overturns them in his anger.അവൻ പർവ്വതങ്ങളെ അവ അറിയാതെ നീക്കിക്കളയുന്നു; തന്റെ കോപത്തിൽ അവയെ മറിച്ചുകളയുന്നു.

Which shakes the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.അവൻ ഭൂമിയെ സ്വസ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നു ഇളക്കുന്നു; അതിന്റെ തൂണുകൾ കുലുങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു.

Which commands the sun, and it rises not; and seals up the stars.അവൻ സൂര്യനോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നു; അതു ഉദിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെ പൊതിഞ്ഞു മുദ്രയിടുന്നു.

Which alone spreads out the heavens, and treads upon the waves of the sea.അവൻ തനിച്ചു ആകാശത്തെ വിരിക്കുന്നു; സമുദ്രത്തിലെ തിരമാലകളിന്മേൽ അവൻ നടക്കുന്നു.

Which makes Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.അവൻ സപ്തർഷി, മകയിരം, കാർത്തിക, ഇവയെയും തെക്കെ നക്ഷത്രമണ്ഡലത്തെയും ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

Which does great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.അവൻ ആരാഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്ത വങ്കാര്യങ്ങളെയും എണ്ണമില്ലാത്ത അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Lo, he goes by me, and I see him not: he passes on also, but I perceive him not.അവൻ എന്റെ അരികെ കൂടി കടക്കുന്നു; ഞാൻ അവനെ കാണുന്നില്ല; അവൻ കടന്നുപോകുന്നു; ഞാൻ അവനെ അറിയുന്നതുമില്ല.

Behold, he takes away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What do you?അവൻ പറിച്ചെടുക്കുന്നു; ആർ അവനെ തടുക്കും? നീ എന്തു ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു ആർ ചോദിക്കും?

If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.ദൈവം തന്റെ കോപത്തെ പിൻ വലിക്കുന്നില്ല; രഹബിന്റെ തുണയാളികൾ അവന്നു വഴങ്ങുന്നു.

How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him?പിന്നെ ഞാൻ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നതും അവനോടു വാദിപ്പാൻ വാക്കു തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നതും എങ്ങനെ?

Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.ഞാൻ നീതിമാനായിരുന്നാലും അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞുകൂടാ; എന്റെ പ്രതിയോഗിയോടു ഞാൻ യാചിക്കേണ്ടിവരും.

If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.ഞാൻ വിളിച്ചിട്ടു അവൻ ഉത്തരം അരുളിയാലും എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേൾക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ വിശ്വസിക്കയില്ല.

For he breaks me with a tempest, and multiplies my wounds without cause.കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ എന്നെ തകർക്കുംന്നുവല്ലോ; കാരണംകൂടാതെ എന്റെ മുറിവുകളെ പെരുക്കുന്നു.

He will not suffer me to take my breath, but fills me with bitterness.ശ്വാസംകഴിപ്പാൻ എന്നെ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നില്ല; കൈപ്പുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ വയറു നിറെക്കുന്നു.

If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead?ബലം വിചാരിച്ചാൽ: അവൻ തന്നേ ബലവാൻ; ന്യായവിധി വിചാരിച്ചാൽ: ആർ എനിക്കു അവധി നിശ്ചയിക്കും?

If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.ഞാൻ നീതിമാനായാലും എന്റെ സ്വന്ത വായ് എന്നെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കും; ഞാൻ നിഷ്കളങ്കനായാലും അവൻ എനിക്കു വക്രത ആരോപിക്കും.

Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.ഞാൻ നിഷ്കളങ്കൻ; ഞാൻ എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ കരുതുന്നില്ല; എന്റെ ജീവനെ ഞാൻ നിരസിക്കുന്നു.

This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroys the perfect and the wicked.അതെല്ലാം ഒരുപോലെ; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ പറയുന്നതു: അവൻ നിഷ്കളങ്കനെയും ദുഷ്ടനെയും നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.ബാധ പെട്ടെന്നു കൊല്ലുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ നിർദ്ദോഷികളുടെ നിരാശ കണ്ടു അവൻ ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

²⁴

The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covers the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?ഭൂമി ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അതിലെ ന്യായാധിപന്മാരുടെ മുഖം അവൻ മൂടിക്കളയുന്നു; അതു അവനല്ലെങ്കിൽ പിന്നെ ആർ?

Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.എന്റെ ആയുഷ്കാലം ഓട്ടാളനെക്കാൾ വേഗം പോകുന്നു; അതു നന്മ കാണാതെ ഓടിപ്പോകുന്നു.

²⁶

They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle that hastes to the prey.അതു ഓടകൊണ്ടുള്ള വള്ളംപോലെയും ഇരയെ റാഞ്ചുന്ന കഴുകനെപ്പോലെയും കടന്നു പോകുന്നു.

²⁷

If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort myself:ഞാൻ എന്റെ സങ്കടം മറുന്നു മുഖവിഷാദം കളഞ്ഞു. പ്രസന്നതയോടെ ഇരിക്കുമെന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ,

I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that you will not hold me innocent.ഞാൻ എന്റെ വ്യസനം ഒക്കെയും ഓർത്തു ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു; നീ എന്നെ നിർദ്ദോഷിയായി എണ്ണുകയില്ലെന്നു ഞാൻ അറിയുന്നു.

If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?എന്നെ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കുകയേയുള്ളു; പിന്നെ ഞാൻ വൃഥാ പ്രയത്നിക്കുന്നതെന്തിന്നു?

If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;ഞാൻ ഹിമംകൊണ്ടു എന്നെ കഴുകിയാലും ക്ഷാരജലംകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കൈ വെടിപ്പാക്കിയാലും

Yet shall you plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall detest me.നീ എന്നെ ചേറ്റുകുഴിയിൽ മുക്കിക്കളയും; എന്റെ വസ്ത്രംപോലും എന്നെ വെറുക്കും.

For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.ഞാൻ അവനോടു പ്രതിവാദിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നും ഞങ്ങളൊരുമിച്ചു ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിന്നു ചെല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നും അവൻ എന്നെപ്പോലെ മനുഷ്യനല്ലല്ലോ.

Neither is there any arbitrator between us, that might lay his hand upon us both.ഞങ്ങളെ ഇരുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞു നിർത്തേണ്ടതിന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ നടുവിൽ ഒരു മദ്ധ്യസ്ഥനുമില്ല.

³⁴

Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:അവൻ തന്റെ വടി എങ്കൽനിന്നു നീക്കട്ടെ; അവന്റെ ഘോരത്വം എന്നെ പേടിപ്പിക്കാതിരിക്കട്ടെ;

³⁵

Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അവനെ പേടിക്കാതെ സംസാരിക്കും; ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ സ്ഥിതി അങ്ങനെയല്ലല്ലോ.
