Job 4

Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,അതിന്നു തേമാന്യനായ എലീഫസ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

If we analyse to commune with you, will you be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?നിന്നോടു സംസാരിപ്പാൻ തുനിഞ്ഞാൽ നീ മുഷിയുമോ? എന്നാൽ വാക്കടക്കുവാൻ ആർക്കു കഴിയും?

Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands.നീ പലരേയും ഉപദേശിച്ചു തളർന്ന കൈകളെ ശക്തീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

Your words have raised up him that was falling, and you have strengthened the feeble knees.വീഴുന്നവനെ നിന്റെ വാക്കു താങ്ങി കുഴയുന്ന മുഴങ്കാൽ നീ ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

But now it has come upon you, and you faint; it touches you, and you are troubled.ഇപ്പോൾ നിനക്കതു ഭവിച്ചിട്ടു നീ വിഷാദിക്കുന്നു; നിനക്കതു തട്ടീട്ടു നീ ഭ്രമിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

Is not this your fear, your confidence, your hope, and the uprightness of your ways?നിന്റെ ഭക്തി നിന്റെ ആശ്രയമല്ലയോ? നിന്റെ നടപ്പിന്റെ നിർമ്മലത നിന്റെ പ്രത്യാശയല്ലയോ?

Remember, I pray you, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?ഓർത്തു നോക്കുക: നിർദ്ദോഷിയായി നശിച്ചവൻ ആർ? നേരുള്ളവർ എവിടെ മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയിട്ടുള്ളു?

Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.ഞാൻ കണ്ടേടത്തോളം അന്യായം ഉഴുതു കഷ്ടത വിതെക്കുന്നവർ അതു തന്നേ കൊയ്യുന്നു.

By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ശ്വാസത്താൽ അവർ നശിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ കോപത്തിന്റെ ഊത്തിനാൽ മുടിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.സിംഹത്തിന്റെ ഗർജ്ജനവും കേസരിയുടെ നാദവും ബാലസിംഹങ്ങളുടെ ദന്തങ്ങളും അറ്റുപോയി.

The old lion perishes for lack of prey, and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad.സിംഹം ഇരയില്ലായ്കയാൽ നശിക്കുന്നു; സിംഹിയുടെ കുട്ടികൾ ചിതറിപ്പോകുന്നു;

Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof.എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ഒരു ഗൂഢവചനം എത്തി; അതിന്റെ മന്ദസ്വരം എന്റെ ചെവിയിൽ കടന്നു.

In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men,മനുഷ്യർക്കു ഗാഢനിദ്ര പിടിക്കുന്നേരം രാത്രിദർശനങ്ങളാലുള്ള മനോഭാവനകളിൽ ഭയവും നടുക്കവും എന്നെ പിടിച്ചു.

Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.എന്റെ അസ്ഥികൾ ഒക്കെയും കുലുങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:ഒരാത്മാവു എന്റെ മുഖത്തിന്നെതിരെ കടന്നു എന്റെ ദേഹത്തിന്നു രോമഹർഷം ഭവിച്ചു.

It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,ഒരു പ്രതിമ എന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നെതിരെ നിന്നു; എങ്കിലും അതിന്റെ രൂപം ഞാൻ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞില്ല; മന്ദമായോരു സ്വരം ഞാൻ കേട്ടതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?മർത്യൻ ദൈവത്തിലും നീതിമാൻ ആകുമോ? നരൻ സ്രഷ്ടാവിലും നിർമ്മലനാകുമോ?

¹⁸

Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:ഇതാ, സ്വദാസന്മാരിലും അവന്നു വിശ്വാസമില്ല; തന്റെ ദൂതന്മാരിലും അവൻ കുറ്റം ആരോപിക്കുന്നു.

How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?പൊടിയിൽനിന്നുത്ഭവിച്ചു മണ്പുരകളിൽ പാർത്തു പുഴുപോലെ ചതെഞ്ഞു പോകുന്നവരിൽ എത്ര അധികം!

They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.ഉഷസ്സിന്നും സന്ധ്യെക്കും മദ്ധ്യേ അവർ തകർന്നു പോകുന്നു; ആരും ഗണ്യമാക്കാതെ അവർ എന്നേക്കും നശിക്കുന്നു.

Does not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.അവരുടെ കൂടാരക്കയറു അറ്റുപോയിട്ടു അവർ ജ്ഞാനഹീനരായി മരിക്കുന്നില്ലയോ?

Job 5

Call now, if there be any that will answer you; and to which of the saints will you turn?വിളിച്ചുനോക്കുക; ഉത്തരം പറയുന്നവനുണ്ടോ? നീ വിശുദ്ധന്മാരിൽ ആരെ ശരണം പ്രാപിക്കും?

For wrath kills the foolish man, and envy slays the silly one.നീരസം ഭോഷനെ കൊല്ലുന്നു; ഈർഷ്യ മൂഢനെ ഹിംസിക്കുന്നു.

I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.മൂഢൻ വേരൂന്നുന്നതു ഞാൻ കണ്ടു ക്ഷണത്തിൽ അവന്റെ പാർപ്പിടത്തെ ശപിച്ചു.

His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.അവന്റെ മക്കൾ രക്ഷയോടകന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; അവർ രക്ഷകനില്ലാതെ വാതിൽക്കൽവെച്ചു തകർന്നുപോകുന്നു.

Whose harvest the hungry eats up, and takes it even out of the thorns, and the robber swallows up their substance.അവന്റെ വിളവു വിശപ്പുള്ളവൻ തിന്നുകളയും; മുള്ളുകളിൽനിന്നും അതിനെ പറിച്ചെടുക്കും; അവരുടെ സമ്പത്തു ദാഹമുള്ളവർ കപ്പിക്കളയും.

Although affliction comes not out of the dust, neither does trouble spring out of the ground;അനർത്ഥം ഉത്ഭവിക്കുന്നതു പൂഴിയിൽനിന്നല്ല; കഷ്ടത മുളെക്കുന്നതു നിലത്തുനിന്നുമല്ല;

Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.തീപ്പൊരി ഉയരെ പറക്കുംപോലെ മനുഷ്യൻ കഷ്ടതെക്കായി ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:ഞാനോ ദൈവത്തിങ്കലേക്കു നോക്കുമായിരുന്നു; എന്റെ കാര്യം ദൈവത്തിങ്കൽ ഏല്പിക്കുമായിരുന്നു;

Which does great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:അവൻ, ആരാഞ്ഞുകൂടാത്ത വങ്കാര്യങ്ങളും അസംഖ്യമായ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Who gives rain upon the earth, and sends waters upon the fields:അവൻ ഭൂതലത്തിൽ മഴപെയ്യിക്കുന്നു; വയലുകളിലേക്കു വെള്ളം വിടുന്നു.

¹¹

To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.അവൻ താണവരെ ഉയർത്തുന്നു; ദുഃഖിക്കുന്നവരെ രക്ഷയിലേക്കു കയറ്റുന്നു.

He dissapoints the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.അവൻ ഉപായികളുടെ സൂത്രങ്ങളെ അബദ്ധമാക്കുന്നു; അവരുടെ കൈകൾ കാര്യം സാധിപ്പിക്കയുമില്ല.

He takes the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the perverse is carried headlong.അവൻ ജ്ഞാനികളെ അവരുടെ കൌശലത്തിൽ പിടിക്കുന്നു; വക്രബുദ്ധികളുടെ ആലോചന മറിഞ്ഞുപോകുന്നു.

They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.പകൽസമയത്തു അവർക്കു ഇരുൾ നേരിടുന്നു; ഉച്ചസമയത്തു അവർ രാത്രിയിലെന്നപോലെ തപ്പിനടക്കുന്നു.

But he saves the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.അവൻ ദരിദ്രനെ അവരുടെ വായെന്ന വാളിങ്കൽനിന്നും ബലവാന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും രക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

So the poor has hope, and iniquity stops her mouth.അങ്ങനെ എളിയവന്നു പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു; നീതികെട്ടവനോ വായ്പൊത്തുന്നു.

Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not you the chastening of the Almighty:ദൈവം ശാസിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യൻ ഭാഗ്യവാൻ; സർവ്വശക്തന്റെ ശിക്ഷ നീ നിരസിക്കരുതു.

For he makes sore, and binds up: he wounds, and his hands make whole.അവൻ മുറിവേല്പക്കിയും മുറി കെട്ടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവൻ ചതെക്കയും തൃക്കൈ പൊറുപ്പിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

He shall deliver you in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch you.ആറു കഷ്ടത്തിൽനിന്നു അവൻ നിന്നെ വിടുവിക്കും; ഏഴാമത്തേതിലും തിന്മ നിന്നെ തൊടുകയില്ല.

In famine he shall redeem you from death: and in war from the power of the sword.ക്ഷാമകാലത്തു അവൻ നിന്നെ മരണത്തിൽനിന്നും യുദ്ധത്തിൽ വാളിന്റെ വെട്ടിൽനിന്നും വിടുവിക്കും.

You shall be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shall you be afraid of destruction when it comes.നാവെന്ന ചമ്മട്ടിക്കു നീ ഗുപ്തനാകും; നാശം വരുമ്പോൾ നീ ഭയപ്പെടുകയില്ല.

At destruction and famine you shall laugh: neither shall you be afraid of the beasts of the earth.നാശവും ക്ഷാമവും കണ്ടു നീ ചിരിക്കും; കാട്ടുമൃഗങ്ങളെ നീ പേടിക്കയില്ല.

²³

For you shall be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.വയലിലെ കല്ലുകളോടു നിനക്കു സഖ്യതയുണ്ടാകും; കാട്ടിലെ മൃഗങ്ങൾ നിന്നോടു ഇണങ്ങിയിരിക്കും.

²⁴

And you shall know that your tabernacle shall be in peace; and you shall visit your habitation, and shall not sin.നിന്റെ കൂടാരം നിർഭയം എന്നു നീ അറിയും; നിന്റെ പാർപ്പിടം നീ പരിശോധിക്കും, ഒന്നും കാണാതെയിരിക്കയില്ല.

²⁵

You shall know also that your seed shall be great, and yours offspring as the grass of the earth.നിന്റെ സന്താനം അസംഖ്യമെന്നും നിന്റെ പ്രജ നിലത്തെ പുല്ലുപോലെയെന്നും നീ അറിയും.

²⁶

You shall come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of corn comes in in his season.തക്ക സമയത്തു കറ്റക്കൂമ്പാരം അടുക്കിവെക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നീ പൂർണ്ണവാർദ്ധക്യത്തിൽ കല്ലറയിൽ കടക്കും.

Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know you it for your good.ഞങ്ങൾ അതു ആരാഞ്ഞുനോക്കി, അതു അങ്ങനെതന്നേ ആകുന്നു; നീ അതു കേട്ടു ഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊൾക.

Job 6

But Job answered and said,അതിന്നു ഇയ്യോബ് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ:

Oh that my grief were thoroughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!അയ്യോ എന്റെ വ്യസനം ഒന്നു തൂക്കിനോക്കിയെങ്കിൽ! എന്റെ വിപത്തു സ്വരൂപിച്ചു തുലാസിൽ വെച്ചെങ്കിൽ!

For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.അതു കടല്പുറത്തെ മണലിനെക്കാൾ ഭാരമേറുന്നതു. അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ വാക്കു തെറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നു.

For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinks up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.സർവ്വശക്തന്റെ അസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ എന്നിൽ തറെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവയുടെ വിഷം എന്റെ ആത്മാവു കുടിക്കുന്നു; ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഘോരത്വങ്ങൾ എന്റെ നേരെ അണിനിരന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Does the wild ass bray when he has grass? or lows the ox over his fodder?പുല്ലുള്ളേടത്തു കാട്ടുകഴുത ചിനെക്കുമോ? തീറ്റി തിന്നുമ്പോൾ കാള മുക്കുറയിടുമോ?

Can that which is unpleasing be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?രുചിയില്ലാത്തതു ഉപ്പുകൂടാതെ തിന്നാമോ? മുട്ടയുടെ വെള്ളെക്കു രുചിയുണ്ടോ?

The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful food.തൊടുവാൻ എനിക്കു വെറുപ്പു തോന്നുന്നതു എനിക്കു അറെപ്പുള്ള ഭക്ഷണമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!അയ്യോ, എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ സാധിച്ചെങ്കിൽ! എന്റെ വാഞ്ഛ ദൈവം എനിക്കു നല്കിയെങ്കിൽ!

Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!എന്നെ തകർക്കുവാൻ ദൈവം പ്രസാദിച്ചെങ്കിൽ! തൃക്കൈ നീട്ടി എന്നെ ഖണ്ഡിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞെങ്കിൽ!

Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.അങ്ങനെ എനിക്കു ആശ്വാസം ലഭിക്കുമായിരുന്നു; കനിവറ്റ വേദനയിൽ ഞാൻ ഉല്ലസിക്കുമായിരുന്നു. പരിശുദ്ധന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഞാൻ നിഷേധിച്ചിട്ടില്ലല്ലോ;

What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?ഞാൻ കാത്തിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ ശക്തി എന്തുള്ളു? ദീർഘക്ഷമ കാണിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്റെ അന്തം എന്തു?

Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?എന്റെ ബലം കല്ലിന്റെ ബലമോ? എന്റെ മാംസം താമ്രമാകുന്നുവോ?

Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?ഞാൻ കേവലം തുണയില്ലാത്തവനല്ലയോ? രക്ഷ എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോയില്ലയോ?

To him that is afflicted pity should be showed from his friend; but he forsakes the fear of the Almighty.ദുഃഖിതനോടു സ്നേഹിതൻ ദയ കാണിക്കേണ്ടതാകുന്നു; അല്ലാഞ്ഞാൽ അവൻ സർവ്വശക്തന്റെ ഭയം ത്യജിക്കും.

My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;എന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർ ഒരു തോടുപോലെ എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു; വറ്റിപ്പോകുന്ന തോടുകളുടെ ചാൽപോലെ തന്നേ.

Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:നീർക്കട്ടകൊണ്ടു അവ കലങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നു; ഹിമം അവയിൽ ഉരുകി കാണാതെപോകുന്നു.

What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.ചൂടുപിടിക്കുന്നേരം അവ വറ്റിപ്പോകുന്നു; ഉഷ്ണം ആകുമ്പോൾ അവ അവിടെനിന്നു പൊയ്പോകുന്നു.

The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.സ്വാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ വഴി വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു ചെല്ലുന്നു; അവ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ചെന്നു നശിച്ചുപോകുന്നു.

The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.തേമയുടെ സ്വാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ തിരിഞ്ഞുനോക്കുന്നു; ശെബയുടെ യാത്രാഗണം അവെക്കായി പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവർ ലജ്ജിക്കുന്നു; അവിടത്തോളം ചെന്നു നാണിച്ചു പോകുന്നു.

For now all of you are nothing; all of you see my casting down, and are afraid.നിങ്ങളും ഇപ്പോൾ അതുപോലെ ആയി വിപത്തു കണ്ടിട്ടു നിങ്ങൾ പേടിക്കുന്നു.

Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?എനിക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു തരുവിൻ; നിങ്ങളുടെ സമ്പത്തിൽനിന്നു എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി കൈക്കൂലി കൊടുപ്പിൻ;

Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?വൈരിയുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു എന്നെ വിടുവിപ്പിൻ; നിഷ്ഠൂരന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നു എന്നെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പിൻ എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടോ?

²⁴

Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.എന്നെ ഉപദേശിപ്പിൻ; ഞാൻ മിണ്ടാതെയിരിക്കാം; ഏതിൽ തെറ്റിപ്പോയെന്നു എനിക്കു ബോധം വരുത്തുവിൻ.

How forcible are right words! but what does your arguing reprove?നേരുള്ള വാക്കുകൾക്കു എത്ര ബലം! നിങ്ങളുടെ ശാസനെക്കോ എന്തു ഫലം?

²⁶

Do all of you imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?വാക്കുകളെ ആക്ഷേപിപ്പാൻ വിചാരിക്കുന്നുവോ? ആശയറ്റവന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ കാറ്റിന്നു തുല്യമത്രേ.

²⁷

Yea, all of you overwhelm the fatherless, and all of you dig a pit for your friend.അനാഥന്നു നിങ്ങൾ ചീട്ടിടുന്നു; സ്നേഹിതനെക്കൊണ്ടു കച്ചവടം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

²⁸

Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.ഇപ്പോൾ ദയ ചെയ്തു എന്നെ ഒന്നു നോക്കുവിൻ; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുഖത്തു നോക്കി ഭോഷ്കുപറയുമോ?

²⁹

Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.ഒന്നുകൂടെ നോക്കുവിൻ; നീതികേടു ഭവിക്കരുതു. ഒന്നുകൂടെ നോക്കുവിൻ; എന്റെ കാര്യം നീതിയുള്ളതു തന്നേ.

Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?എന്റെ നാവിൽ അനീതിയുണ്ടോ? എന്റെവായി അനർത്ഥം തിരിച്ചറികയില്ലയോ?
