1
The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായി ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോന്റെ സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ.

To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും പ്രാപിപ്പാനും വിവേകവചനങ്ങളെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും

To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;പരിജ്ഞാനം, നീതി, ന്യായം, നേർ എന്നിവെക്കായി പ്രബോധനം ലഭിപ്പാനും

To give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.അല്പബുദ്ധികൾക്കു സൂക്ഷ്മബുദ്ധിയും ബാലന്നു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വകതിരിവും നല്കുവാനും

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:ജ്ഞാനി കേട്ടിട്ടു വിദ്യാഭിവൃദ്ധിപ്രാപിപ്പാനും, ബുദ്ധിമാൻ സദുപദേശം സമ്പാദിപ്പാനും

To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങളും അലങ്കാരവചനങ്ങളും ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ മൊഴികളും കടങ്കഥകളും മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാനും അവ ഉതകുന്നു.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.യഹോവാഭക്തി ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭമാകുന്നു; ഭോഷന്മാരോ ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും നിരസിക്കുന്നു.

My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother:മകനേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേൾക്ക. അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയുമരുതു;

For they shall be an ornament of grace unto your head, and chains about your neck.അവ നിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന്നു അലങ്കാരമാലയും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്നു സരപ്പളിയും ആയിരിക്കും.

My son, if sinners entice you, consent you not.മകനേ, പാപികൾ നിന്നെ വശീകരിച്ചാൽ വഴിപ്പെട്ടുപോകരുതു.

If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privately for the innocent without cause:ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരിക; നാം രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്ക; നിർദ്ദോഷിയെ കാരണം കൂടാതെ പിടിപ്പാൻ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്ക.

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:പാതാളംപോലെ അവരെ ജീവനോടെയും കുഴിയിൽ ഇറങ്ങുന്നവരെപ്പോലെ അവരെ സർവ്വാംഗമായും വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളക.

We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:നമുക്കു വലിയേറിയ സമ്പത്തൊക്കെയും കിട്ടും; നമ്മുടെ വീടുകളെ കൊള്ളകൊണ്ടു നിറെക്കാം.

Cast in your lot among us; let us all have one purse:നിനക്കു ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ സമാംശം കിട്ടും; നമുക്കു എല്ലാവർക്കും സഞ്ചി ഒന്നായിരിക്കും; എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവർ പറഞ്ഞാൽ;

My son, walk not you in the way with them; refrain your foot from their path:മകനേ, നീ അവരുടെ വഴിക്കു പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ കാൽ അവരുടെ പാതയിൽ വെക്കയുമരുതു.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.അവരുടെ കാൽ ദോഷം ചെയ്വാൻ ഓടുന്നു; രക്തം ചൊരിയിപ്പാൻ അവർ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നു.

Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.പക്ഷി കാൺകെ വലവിരിക്കുന്നതു വ്യർത്ഥമല്ലോ.

And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privately for their own lives.അവർ സ്വന്ത രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; സ്വന്തപ്രാണഹാനിക്കായി ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of the owners thereof.ദുരാഗ്രഹികളായ ഏവരുടെയും വഴികൾ അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ; അതു അവരുടെ ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയുന്നു.

Wisdom cries without; she utters her voice in the streets:ജ്ഞാനമായവൾ വീഥിയിൽ ഘോഷിക്കുന്നു; വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു സ്വരം കേൾപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she utters her words, saying,അവൾ ആരവമുള്ള തെരുക്കളുടെ തലെക്കൽ നിന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു; നഗരദ്വാരങ്ങളിലും നഗരത്തിന്നകത്തും പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നതു:

How long, all of you simple ones, will all of you love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?ബുദ്ധിഹീനരേ, നിങ്ങൾ ബുദ്ധീഹിനതയിൽ രസിക്കയും പരിഹാസികളേ, നിങ്ങൾ പരിഹാസത്തിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കയും ഭോഷന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങൾ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എത്രത്തോളം?

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.എന്റെ ശാസനെക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ; ഞാൻ എന്റെ മനസ്സു നിങ്ങൾക്കു പൊഴിച്ചു തരും; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കും.

Because I have called, and all of you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;ഞാൻ വിളിച്ചിട്ടു നിങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതെയും ഞാൻ കൈ നീട്ടീട്ടു ആരും കൂട്ടാക്കാതെയും

But all of you have set at nothing all my counsel, and refused my reproof:നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ആലോചന ഒക്കെയും ത്യജിച്ചുകളകയും എന്റെ ശാസനയെ ഒട്ടും അനുസരിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes;ഞാനും നിങ്ങളുടെ അനർത്ഥദിവസത്തിൽ ചിരിക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭവിക്കുമ്പോൾ പരിഹസിക്കും.

When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes upon you.നിങ്ങൾ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുപോലെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ആപത്തു ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെയും വരുമ്പോൾ, കഷ്ടവും സങ്കടവും നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ.

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:അപ്പോൾ അവർ എന്നെ വിളിക്കും; ഞാൻ ഉത്തരം പറകയില്ല. എന്നെ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; കണ്ടെത്തുകയുമില്ല.

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:അവർ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുത്തല്ലോ; യഹോവാഭക്തിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.

They refused my counsel: they despised all my reproof.അവർ എന്റെ ആലോചന അനുസരിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ശാസന ഒക്കെയും നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.അവർ സ്വന്തവഴിയുടെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കയും തങ്ങളുടെ ആലോചനകളാൽ തൃപ്തി പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.ബുദ്ധിഹീനരുടെ പിന്മാറ്റം അവരെ കൊല്ലും; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ നിശ്ചിന്ത അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കും.

But whoso hearkens unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കുന്നവനോ നിർഭയം വസിക്കയും ദോഷഭയം കൂടാതെ സ്വൈരമായിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.
