And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spoke before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:യോസേഫിന്റെ മക്കളുടെ കുടുംബങ്ങളിൽ മനശ്ശെയുടെ മകനായ മാഖീരിന്റെ മകനായ ഗിലെയാദിന്റെ മക്കളുടെ കുടുംബത്തലവന്മാർ അടുത്തുവന്നു മോശെയുടെയും യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ ഗോത്രപ്രധാനികളായ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെയും മുമ്പാകെ പറഞ്ഞതു:

And they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾക്കു ദേശം ചീട്ടിട്ടു അവകാശമായി കൊടുപ്പാൻ യഹോവ യജമാനനോടു കല്പിച്ചു; ഞങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരനായ ശെലോഫഹാദിന്റെ അവകാശം അവന്റെ പുത്രിമാർക്കു കൊടുപ്പാൻ യജമാനന്നു യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന ഉണ്ടായി.

And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe unto which they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.എന്നാൽ അവർ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ മറ്റു ഗോത്രങ്ങളിലെ പുരുഷന്മാരിൽ വല്ലവർക്കും ഭാര്യമാരായാൽ അവരുടെ അവകാശം ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അവകാശത്തിൽനിന്നു വിട്ടുപോകയും അവർ ചേരുന്ന ഗോത്രത്തിന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു കൂടുകയും ചെയ്യും; ഇങ്ങനെ അതു ഞങ്ങളുടെ അവകാശത്തിന്റെ ഓഹരിയിൽനിന്നു പൊയ്പോകും.

And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe unto which they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ യോബേൽ സംവത്സരം വരുമ്പോൾ അവരുടെ അവകാശം അവർ ചേരുന്ന ഗോത്രത്തിന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു കൂടുകയും അങ്ങനെ അവരുടെ അവകാശം ഞങ്ങളുടെ പിതൃഗോത്രത്തിന്റെ അവകാശത്തിൽനിന്നു വിട്ടുപോകയും ചെയ്യും.

And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph has said well.അപ്പോൾ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ വചനപ്രകാരം യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു കല്പിച്ചതു: യോസേഫിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ ഗോത്രം പറഞ്ഞതു ശരി തന്നേ.

This is the thing which the LORD does command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.യഹോവ ശെലോഫഹാദിന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെക്കുറിച്ചു കല്പിക്കുന്നകാര്യം എന്തെന്നാൽ: അവർ തങ്ങൾക്കു ബോധിച്ചവർക്കു ഭാര്യമാരായിരിക്കട്ടെ; എങ്കിലും തങ്ങളുടെ പിതൃഗോത്രത്തിലെ കുടുംബത്തിലുള്ളവർക്കു മാത്രമേ ആകാവു.

So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ അവകാശം ഒരു ഗോത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നു മറ്റൊരു ഗോത്രത്തിലേക്കു മാറരുതു; യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ പിതൃഗോത്രത്തിന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു ചേർന്നിരിക്കേണം;

And every daughter, that possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അവകാശം കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ യാതൊരു ഗോത്രത്തിലും അവകാശം ലഭിക്കുന്ന ഏതുകന്യകയും തന്റെ പിതൃഗോത്രത്തിലെ ഒരു കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഒരുത്തന്നു ഭാര്യയാകേണം.

Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.അങ്ങനെ അവകാശം ഒരു ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നു മറ്റൊരു ഗോത്രത്തിലേക്കു മാറാതെ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു ചേർന്നിരിക്കേണം.

Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:യഹോവ മോശെയോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ശെലോഫഹാദിന്റെ പുത്രിമാർ ചെയ്തു.

For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their father's brothers' sons:ശെലോഫഹാദിന്റെ പുത്രിമാരായ മഹ്ളാ, തിർസാ, ഹൊഗ്ളാ, മിൽക്കാ, നോവാ എന്നിവർ തങ്ങളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കു ഭാര്യമാരായി.

And they were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.യോസേഫിന്റെ മകനായ മനശ്ശെയുടെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ കുടുംബങ്ങളിൽ അവർ ഭാര്യമാരാകയും അവരുടെ അവകാശം അവരുടെ പിതൃകുടുംബത്തിന്റെ ഗോത്രത്തിൽതന്നേ ഇരിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

These are the commandments and the judgments, which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.യെരീഹോവിന്നെതിരെ യോർദ്ദാന്നരികെ മോവാബ് സമഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു യഹോവ മോശെമുഖാന്തരം യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു കല്പിച്ച കല്പനകളും വിധികളും ഇവ തന്നേ.

Deuteronomy 1

These be the words which Moses spoke unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain opposite to the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.സൂഫിന്നെതിരെ പാരാന്നും തോഫെലിന്നും ലാബാന്നും ഹസേരോത്തിന്നും ദീസാഹാബിന്നും നടുവെ യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അരാബയിൽവെച്ചു മോശെ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും പറഞ്ഞ വചനങ്ങൾ ആവിതു:

(There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadeshbarnea.)സേയീർപർവ്വതം വഴിയായി ഹോരേബിൽനിന്നു കാദേശ് ബർന്നേയയിലേക്കു പതിനൊന്നു ദിവസത്തെ വഴി ഉണ്ടു.

And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, according unto all that the LORD had given him in commandment unto them;നാല്പതാം സംവത്സരം പതിനൊന്നാം മാസം ഒന്നാം തിയ്യതി മോശെ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടു യഹോവ അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു പോലെ ഒക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞു.

After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:ഹെശ്ബോനിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്ന അമോർയ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനെയും അസ്താരോത്തിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്ന ബാശാൻ രാജാവായ ഓഗിനെയും എദ്രെയിൽവെച്ചു സംഹരിച്ചശേഷം

On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ മോവാബ് ദേശത്തുവെച്ചു മോശെ ഈ ന്യായപ്രമാണം വിവരിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയതു എങ്ങനെയെന്നാൽ:

The LORD our God spoke unto us in Horeb, saying, All of you have dwelt long enough in this mount:ഹോരേബിൽവെച്ചു നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മോടു കല്പിച്ചതു: നിങ്ങൾ ഈ പർവ്വതത്തിങ്കൽ പാർത്തതു മതി.

Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.തിരിഞ്ഞു യാത്രചെയ്തു അമോർയ്യരുടെ പർവ്വതത്തിലേക്കും അതിന്റെ അയൽപ്രദേശങ്ങളായ അരാബാ, മലനാടു, താഴ്വീതി, തെക്കേദേശം, കടൽക്കര എന്നിങ്ങനെയുള്ള കനാന്യദേശത്തേക്കും ലെബാനോനിലേക്കും ഫ്രാത്ത് എന്ന മഹാനദിവരെയും പോകുവിൻ.

Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.ഇതാ, ഞാൻ ആ ദേശം നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങൾ കടന്നു യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നും യാക്കോബിന്നും അവരുടെ സന്തതിക്കും കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു അവരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തെ കൈവശമാക്കുവിൻ.

And I spoke unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:അക്കാലത്തു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എനിക്കു ഏകനായി നിങ്ങളെ വഹിപ്പാൻ കഴികയില്ല.

The LORD your God has multiplied you, and, behold, all of you are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ വർദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇതാ നിങ്ങൾ ഇന്നു പെരുപ്പത്തിൽ ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾ പോലെ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.

(The LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as all of you are, and bless you, as he has promised you!)നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ ഇപ്പോഴുള്ളതിനെക്കാൾ ഇനിയും ആയിരം ഇരട്ടിയാക്കി, താൻ നിങ്ങളോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുമാറാകട്ടെ.

How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?ഞാൻ ഏകനായി നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാരവും നിങ്ങളുടെ ചുമടും നിങ്ങളുടെ വ്യവഹാരങ്ങളും വഹിക്കുന്നതു എങ്ങനെ?

Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.അതതു ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നു ജ്ഞാനവും വിവേകവും പ്രസിദ്ധിയുമുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാരെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൻ; അവരെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തലവന്മാരാക്കും.

And all of you answered me, and said, The thing which you have spoken is good for us to do.അതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു: നീ പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യം നല്ലതു എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരായി ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രസിദ്ധിയുമുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാരെ ആയിരംപേർക്കു അധിപതിമാർ, നൂറുപേർക്കു അധിപതിമാർ, അമ്പതുപേർക്കു അധിപതിമാർ, പത്തുപേർക്കു അധിപതിമാർ ഇങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തലവന്മാരും ഗോത്രപ്രമാണികളുമായി നിയമിച്ചു.

And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.അന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ന്യായാധിപന്മാരോടു ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചതു: നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കു തമ്മിലുള്ള കാര്യങ്ങളെ കേട്ടു, ആർക്കെങ്കിലും സഹോദരനോടോ പരദേശിയോടോ വല്ലകാര്യവും ഉണ്ടായാൽ അതു നീതിയോടെ വിധിപ്പിൻ.

All of you shall not respect persons in judgment; but all of you shall hear the small as well as the great; all of you shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.ന്യായവിസ്താരത്തിൽ മുഖം നോക്കാതെ ചെറിയവന്റെ കാര്യവും വലിയവന്റെ കാര്യവും ഒരുപോലെ കേൾക്കേണം; മനുഷ്യനെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; ന്യായവിധി ദൈവത്തിന്നുള്ളതല്ലോ. നിങ്ങൾക്കു അധികം പ്രയാസമുള്ള കാര്യം എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ; അതു ഞാൻ തീർക്കും

And I commanded you at that time all the things which all of you should do.അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യേണ്ടുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങളൊക്കെയും ഞാൻ അക്കാലത്തു നിങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചുവല്ലോ.

And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which all of you saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as the LORD our God commanded us; and we came to Kadeshbarnea.പിന്നെ നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നാം ഹോരേബിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടശേഷം നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ടഭയങ്കരമായ മഹാമരുഭൂമിയിൽകൂടി നാം അമോർയ്യരുടെ മലനാട്ടിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു കാദേശ്ബർന്നേയയിൽ എത്തി.

And I said unto you, All of you are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God does give unto us.അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു: നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമുക്കു തരുന്ന അമോർയ്യരുടെ മലനാടുവരെ നിങ്ങൾ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.

Behold, the LORD your God has set the land before you: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of your fathers has said unto you; fear not, neither be discouraged.ഇതാ, നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആ ദേശം നിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ വെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു പോലെ നീ ചെന്നു അതു കൈവശമാക്കിക്കൊൾക; ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; അധൈര്യപ്പെടുകയും അരുതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And all of you came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.എന്നാറെ നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും അടുത്തുവന്നു: നാം ചില ആളുകളെ മുമ്പുകൂട്ടി അയക്കുക; അവർ ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കീട്ടു നാം ചെല്ലേണ്ടുന്ന വഴിയെയും പോകേണ്ടുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളെയും കുറിച്ചു വർത്തമാനം കൊണ്ടുവരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:ആ വാക്കു എനിക്കു ബോധിച്ചു; ഞാൻ ഓരോ ഗോത്രത്തിൽനിന്നു ഓരോ ആൾ വീതം പന്ത്രണ്ടുപേരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽനിന്നു തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.അവർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കയറി എസ്കോൽതാഴ്വരയോളം ചെന്നു ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കി.

And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God does give us.ദേശത്തിലെ ഫലവും ചിലതു അവർ കൈവശമാക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു വർത്തമാനമെല്ലാം അറിയിച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമുക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശം നല്ലതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁶

Notwithstanding all of you would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:എന്നാൽ കയറിപ്പോകുവാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു മനസ്സില്ലാതെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന നിങ്ങൾ മറുത്തു.

²⁷

And all of you murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he has brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.യഹോവ നമ്മെ പകെക്കയാൽ നമ്മെ നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അമോർയ്യരുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.

Where shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.എവിടേക്കാകുന്നു നാം കയറിപ്പോകുന്നതു? ജനങ്ങൾ നമ്മെക്കാൾ വലിയവരും ദീർഘകായന്മാരും പട്ടണങ്ങൾ വലിയവയും ആകാശത്തോളം എത്തുന്ന മതിലുള്ളവയും ആകുന്നു; ഞങ്ങൾ അവിടെ അനാക്യരെയും കണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരന്മാർ നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയം ഉരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നിങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ വെച്ചു പിറുപിറുത്തു പറഞ്ഞു.

Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു: നിങ്ങൾ ഭ്രമിക്കരുതു, അവരെ ഭയപ്പെടുകയും അരുതു.

The LORD your God which goes before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നടക്കുന്നു നിങ്ങൾ കാൺകെ അവൻ മിസ്രയീമിലും മരുഭൂമിയിലും ചെയ്തതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യും.

And in the wilderness, where you have seen how that the LORD your God bare you, as a man does bear his son, in all the way that all of you went, until all of you came into this place.ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ തന്റെ മകനെ വഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തുവോളം നടന്ന എല്ലാ വഴിയിലും നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെ വഹിച്ചു എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ കണ്ടുവല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

Yet in this thing all of you did not believe the LORD your God,ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും പാളയമിറങ്ങേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾക്കു സ്ഥലം അന്വേഷിപ്പാനും നിങ്ങൾ പോകേണ്ടുന്ന വഴി നിങ്ങൾക്കു കാണിച്ചുതരുവാനും

Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way all of you should go, and in a cloud by day.രാത്രി അഗ്നിയിലും പകൽ മേഘത്തിലും നിങ്ങൾക്കു മുമ്പായി നടന്ന നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല.

And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was angry, and swore, saying,ആകയാൽ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ വാക്കു കേട്ടു കോപിച്ചു:

Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I swore to give unto your fathers.ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർക്കു കൊടുക്കുമെന്നു സത്യം ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള നല്ല ദേശം ഈ ദുഷ്ടതലമുറയിലെ പുരുഷന്മാർ ആരും കാണുകയില്ല.

Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he has trodden upon, and to his children, because he has wholly followed the LORD.യെഫുന്നെയുടെ മകനായ കാലേബ് മാത്രം അതു കാണുകയും അവൻ യഹോവയെ പൂർണ്ണമായി പറ്റിനിന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്നും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർക്കും അവൻ ചവിട്ടിയ ദേശം ഞാൻ കൊടുക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു സത്യം ചെയ്തു കല്പിച്ചു.

Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, You also shall not go in thither.യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ നിമിത്തം എന്നോടും കോപിച്ചു കല്പിച്ചതു: നീയും അവിടെ ചെല്ലുകയില്ല.

³⁸

But Joshua the son of Nun, which stands before you, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.നിന്റെ ശുശ്രൂഷകനായ നൂന്റെ മകൻ യോശുവ അവിടെ ചെല്ലും; അവനെ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തുക; അവനാകുന്നു യിസ്രായേലിന്നു അതു കൈവശമാക്കിക്കൊടുക്കേണ്ടതു.

Moreover your little ones, which all of you said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.കൊള്ളയാകുമെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞ നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളും ഇന്നു ഗുണദോഷങ്ങളെ തിരിച്ചറിയാത്ത നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളും അവിടെ ചെല്ലും; അവർക്കു ഞാൻ അതു കൊടുക്കും; അവർ അതു കൈവശമാക്കും.

But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.നിങ്ങൾ തിരിഞ്ഞു ചെങ്കടൽവഴിയായി മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു യാത്ര ചെയ്‍വിൻ.

Then all of you answered and said unto me, We have sinned against the LORD, we will go up and fight, according to all that the LORD our God commanded us. And when all of you had girded on every man his weapons of war, all of you were ready to go up into the hill.അതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു: ഞങ്ങൾ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ഞങ്ങൾ പോയി യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തൻ താന്താന്റെ യുദ്ധായുധം ധരിച്ചു പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കയറുവാൻ തുനിഞ്ഞു.

And the LORD said unto me, Say unto them. Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest all of you be smitten before your enemies.എന്നാൽ യഹോവ എന്നോടു: നിങ്ങൾ പോകരുതു; യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യരുതു; ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഇല്ല; ശത്രുക്കളോടു നിങ്ങൾ തോറ്റുപോകും എന്നു അവരോടു പറക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

So I spoke unto you; and all of you would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill.അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞു; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കാതെ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന മറുത്തു അഹമ്മതിയോടെ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കയറി.

And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.ആ പർവ്വതത്തിൽ കുടിയിരുന്ന അമോർയ്യർ നിങ്ങളുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു തേനീച്ചപോലെ നിങ്ങളെ പിന്തുടർന്നു സേയീരിൽ ഹൊർമ്മാവരെ ഛിന്നിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And all of you returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.നിങ്ങൾ മടങ്ങിവന്നു യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ കരഞ്ഞു; എന്നാൽ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ നിലവിളി കേട്ടില്ല; നിങ്ങളുടെ അപേക്ഷെക്കു ചെവി തന്നതുമില്ല.

So all of you abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that all of you abode there.അങ്ങനെ നിങ്ങൾ കാദേശിൽ പാർത്ത ദീർഘകാലമൊക്കെയും അവിടെ താമസിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു.

Deuteronomy 2

Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spoke unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.അനന്തരം യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നാം തിരിഞ്ഞു ചെങ്കടൽ വഴിയായി മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; നാം ഏറിയനാൾ സേയീർപർവ്വതത്തെ ചുറ്റിനടന്നു.

And the LORD spoke unto me, saying,പിന്നെ യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു:

All of you have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.നിങ്ങൾ ഈ പർവ്വതം ചുറ്റിനടന്നതു മതി; വടക്കോട്ടു തിരിവിൻ.

And command you the people, saying, All of you are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take all of you good heed unto yourselves therefore:നീ ജനത്തോടു കല്പിക്കേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: സേയീരിൽ കുടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളായ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ അതിരിൽകൂടി നിങ്ങൾ കടപ്പാൻ പോകുന്നു. അവർ നിങ്ങളെ പേടിക്കും; ആകയാൽ ഏറ്റവും സൂക്ഷിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം.

Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.നിങ്ങൾ അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കരുതു: അവരുടെ ദേശത്തു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഒരു കാൽ വെപ്പാൻ പോലും ഇടം തരികയില്ല; സേയീർപർവ്വതം ഞാൻ ഏശാവിന്നു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

All of you shall buy food of them for money, that all of you may eat; and all of you shall also buy water of them for money, that all of you may drink.നിങ്ങൾ അവരോടു ആഹാരം വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി കഴിക്കേണം; വെള്ളവും വിലെക്കു വാങ്ങി കുടിക്കേണം.

For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the works of your hand: he knows your walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്റെ കൈകളുടെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തിയിലും നിന്നെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ മഹാമരുഭൂമിയിൽ നീ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നതു അവൻ അറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; ഈ നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നു; നിനക്കു യാതൊന്നിന്നും മുട്ടും വന്നിട്ടില്ല.

And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.അങ്ങനെ നാം സേയീരിൽ കുടിയിരുന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളായ നമ്മുടെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ ഒഴിച്ചു അരാബവഴിയായി ഏലാത്തിന്റെയും എസ്യോൻ-ഗേബെരിന്റെയും അരികത്തുകൂടി കടന്നിട്ടു തിരിഞ്ഞു മോവാബ് മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി കടന്നുപോന്നു.

And the LORD said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give you of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു: മോവാബ്യരെ ഞെരുക്കരുതു; അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കയും അരുതു; ഞാൻ അവരുടെ ദേശത്തു നിനക്കു ഒരു അവകാശം തരികയില്ല; ആർദേശത്തെ ഞാൻ ലോത്തിന്റെ മക്കൾക്കു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു -

The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;വലിപ്പവും പെരുപ്പവും അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ പൊക്കവുമുള്ള ജാതിയായ ഏമ്യർ പണ്ടു അവിടെ പാർത്തിരുന്നു.

Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.ഇവരെ അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ മല്ലന്മാർ എന്നു വിചാരിച്ചുവരുന്നു; മോവാബ്യരോ അവർക്കു ഏമ്യർ എന്നു പേർ പറയുന്നു.

The Horims also dwelt in Seir in time past; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their position; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them.ഹോർയ്യരും പണ്ടു സേയീരിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്നു; എന്നാൽ ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കൾ അവരെ തങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളകയും സംഹരിക്കയും അവർക്കു പകരം കുടിപാർക്കയും ചെയ്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്നു യഹോവ കൊടുത്ത അവകാശദേശത്തു അവർ ചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ. -

Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.ഇപ്പോൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റു സേരെദ് തോടു കടപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ നാം സേരെദ് തോടു കടന്നു;

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD swore unto them.നാം കാദേശ് ബർന്നേയയിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടതുമുതൽ സേരെദ് തോടു കടക്കുംവരെയുള്ള കാലം മുപ്പത്തെട്ടു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു; അതിന്നിടയിൽ യോദ്ധാക്കളായിരുന്ന തലമുറ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ അവരോടു സത്യം ചെയ്തതുപോലെ പാളയത്തിൽനിന്നു മുടിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.അവർ മുടിഞ്ഞുതീരുംവരെ യഹോവയുടെ കൈ അവരെ പാളയത്തിൽനിന്നു നശിപ്പിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം അവർക്കു വിരോധമായിരുന്നു.

So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,ഇങ്ങനെ യോദ്ധാക്കൾ ഒക്കെയും ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നു മരിച്ചു ഒടുങ്ങിയശേഷം

That the LORD spoke unto me, saying,യഹോവ എന്നോടു കല്പിച്ചതു:

You are to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:നീ ഇന്നു ആർ എന്ന മോവാബ്യദേശത്തുകൂടി കടപ്പാൻ പോകുന്നു.

And when you come nigh opposite to the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give you of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.അമ്മോന്യരോടു അടുത്തു ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ അവരെ ഞെരുക്കരുതു; അവരോടു പടയെടുക്കയും അരുതു; ഞാൻ അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശത്തു നിനക്കു അവകാശം തരികയില്ല; അതു ഞാൻ ലോത്തിന്റെ മക്കൾക്കു അവകാശമായി കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. -

(That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;അതും മല്ലന്മാരുടെ ദേശമെന്നു വിചാരിച്ചുവരുന്നു; മല്ലന്മാർ പണ്ടു അവിടെ പാർത്തിരുന്നു; അമ്മോന്യർ അവരെ സംസുമ്മ്യർ എന്നു പറയുന്നു.

A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their position:അവർ വലിപ്പവും പെരുപ്പവും അനാക്യരെപ്പോലെ പൊക്കവുമുള്ള ജാതിയായിരുന്നു; എങ്കിലും യഹോവ അവരെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചു; ഇങ്ങനെ അവർ അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കി അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു കുടിപാർത്തു.

As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their position even unto this day:അവൻ സേയീരിൽ പാർക്കുന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കൾക്കുവേണ്ടി ചെയ്തതുപോലെ തന്നേ, അവൻ ഹോർയ്യരെ അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടു അവർ അവരുടെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കി അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു ഇന്നുവരെയും പാർക്കുന്നു.

And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their position.)കഫ്തോരിൽനിന്നു വന്ന കഫ്തോർയ്യരും ഗസ്സാവരെയുള്ള ഊരുകളിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്ന അവ്യരെ നശിപ്പിച്ചു അവരുടെ സ്ഥലത്തു കുടിപാർത്തു -

Rise all of you up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into yours hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.നിങ്ങൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റു യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു അർന്നോൻ താഴ്വര കടപ്പിൻ; ഇതാ, ഞാൻ ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ അമോർയ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവനോടു പടവെട്ടി അതു കൈവശമാക്കുവാൻ തുടങ്ങുക.

This day will I begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of you, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of you.നിന്നെയുള്ള പേടിയും ഭീതിയും ആകാശത്തിങ്കീഴെങ്ങും ഉള്ള ജാതികളുടെ മേൽ വരുത്തുവാൻ ഞാൻ ഇന്നു തന്നേ തുടങ്ങും; അവർ നിന്റെ ശ്രുതി കേട്ടു നിന്റെ നിമിത്തം വിറെക്കുകയും നടുങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്യും.

And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,പിന്നെ ഞാൻ കെദേമോത്ത് മരുഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്നു ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ രാജാവായ സീഹോന്റെ അടുക്കൽ സമാധാനവാക്കുകളോടുകൂടെ ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചു:

Let me pass through your land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ദേശത്തു കൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാൻ അനുവദിക്കേണമേ; ഞാൻ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ മാറാതെ പെരുവഴിയിൽകൂടി മാത്രം നടക്കും.

You shall sell me food for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;സേയീരിൽ പാർക്കുന്ന ഏശാവിന്റെ മക്കളും ആരിൽ പാർക്കുന്ന മോവാബ്യരും എനിക്കു തന്നതുപോലെ നീ വിലെക്കു തരുന്ന ആഹാരം ഞാൻ കഴിക്കയും വിലെക്കു തരുന്ന വെള്ളം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്തുകൊള്ളാം.

(As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the LORD our God gives us.യോർദ്ദാൻ കടന്നു ഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു തരുന്ന ദേശത്തു എത്തുവോളം കാൽനടയായി പോകുവാൻ മാത്രം അനുവദിക്കേണം എന്നു പറയിച്ചു.

But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD your God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as appears this day.എന്നാൽ നാം തന്റെ ദേശത്തുകൂടി കടന്നുപോകുവാൻ ഹെശ്ബോനിലെ രാജാവായ സീഹോൻ സമ്മതിച്ചില്ല; ഇന്നു കാണുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനെ നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ മനസ്സു കടുപ്പിച്ചു അവന്റെ ഹൃദയം കഠിനമാക്കി.

And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before you: begin to possess, that you may inherit his land.യഹോവ എന്നോടു: ഞാൻ സീഹോനെയും അവന്റെ ദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ ദേശം കൈവശമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അതു അടക്കുവാൻ തുടങ്ങുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.അങ്ങനെ സീഹോനും അവന്റെ സർവ്വജനവും നമ്മുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടുവന്നു യാഹാസിൽവെച്ചു പടയേറ്റു.

And the LORD our God delivered him before us; and we stroke him, and his sons, and all his people.നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവനെ നമ്മുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു; നാം അവനെയും അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവന്റെ സർവ്വജനത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.

And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:അക്കാലത്തു നാം അവന്റെ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളും പിടിച്ചു പട്ടണംതോറും പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും ഉന്മൂലനാശം ചെയ്തു; ഒരുത്തനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ല.

Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.നാൽക്കാലികളെയും നാം പിടിച്ച പട്ടണങ്ങളിലെ കൊള്ളയും മാത്രം നാം നമുക്കായിട്ടു എടുത്തു.

³⁶

From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the LORD our God delivered all unto us:അർന്നോൻ താഴ്വരയുടെ അറ്റത്തുള്ള അരോവേരും താഴ്വരയിലെ പട്ടണവുംമുതൽ ഗിലെയാദ്വരെ നമ്മുടെ കൈക്കു എത്താതെ ഒരു പട്ടണവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ സകലവും നമ്മുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു.

Only unto the land of the children of Ammon you came not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the LORD our God forbad us.അമ്മോന്യരുടെ ദേശവും യബ്ബോക്ക്ക് നദിയുടെ ഒരു വശമൊക്കെയും മലനാട്ടിലെ പട്ടണങ്ങളും നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നമ്മോടു വിലക്കിയ ഇടങ്ങളും മാത്രം നീ ആക്രമിച്ചില്ല.

Deuteronomy 3

Then we turned, and went up the way to Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.അനന്തരം നാം തിരിഞ്ഞു ബാശാനിലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി പോയി; അപ്പോൾ ബാശാൻ രാജാവായ ഓഗും അവന്റെ സർവ്വജനവും നമ്മുടെ നേരെ പുറപ്പെട്ടു എദ്രെയിൽവെച്ചു പടയേറ്റു.

And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not: for I will deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into your hand; and you shall do unto him as you did unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.എന്നാറെ യഹോവ എന്നോടു: അവനെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; ഞാൻ അവനെയും അവന്റെ സർവ്വജനത്തെയും ദേശത്തെയും നിന്റെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു: ഹെശ്ബോനിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്ന അമോർയ്യരാജാവായ സീഹോനോടു ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നീ അവനോടും ചെയ്യും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.

So the LORD our God delivered into our hands Og also, the king of Bashan, and all his people: and we stroke him until none was left to him remaining.അങ്ങനെ നമ്മുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ബാശാൻ രാജാവായ ഓഗിനെയും അവന്റെ സകല ജനത്തെയും നമ്മുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിച്ചു; അവന്നു ആരും ശേഷിക്കാതവണ്ണം നാം അവനെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

And we took all his cities at that time, there was not a city which we took not from them, threescore cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.അക്കാലത്തു നാം അവന്റെ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളും പിടിച്ചു; നാം അവരുടെ പക്കൽനിന്നു പിടിക്കാത്ത ഒരു പട്ടണവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല; ബാശാനിലെ ഓഗിന്റെ രാജ്യമായ അറുപതു പട്ടണങ്ങളുള്ള അര്ഗ്ഗോബ് ദേശം ഒക്കെയും

All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside towns without protective walls a great many.നാട്ടുപുറങ്ങളിലെ അനവധി ഊരുകളും പിടിച്ചു; ആ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം ഉയർന്ന മതിലുകളും വാതിലുകളും ഓടാമ്പലുകളുംകൊണ്ടു ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.

And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.ഹെശ്ബോൻ രാജാവായ സീഹോനോടും ചെയ്തതുപോലെ നാം അവയെ നിർമ്മൂലമാക്കി; പട്ടണംതോറും പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെയും നിർമ്മൂലമാക്കി.

But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities, we took for a prey to ourselves.എന്നാൽ നാൽക്കാലികളെ ഒക്കെയും പട്ടണങ്ങളിലെ അപഹൃതവും നാം കൊള്ളയിട്ടു എടുത്തു.

And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon unto mount Hermon;ഇങ്ങനെ അക്കാലത്തു അമോർയ്യരുടെ രണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെയും കയ്യിൽനിന്നു യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ അർന്നോൻ താഴ്വര തുടങ്ങി ഹെർമ്മോൻ പർവ്വതംവരെയുള്ള ദേശവും -

(Which Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the Amorites call it Shenir;)സീദോന്യർ ഹെർമ്മോന്നു സീർയ്യോൻ എന്നും അമോർയ്യരോ അതിന്നു സെനീർ എന്നു പേർ പറയുന്നു -

All the cities of the plain, and all Gilead, and all Bashan, unto Salchah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.സമഭൂമിയിലെ എല്ലാപട്ടണങ്ങളും ഗിലെയാദ് മുഴുവനും ബാശാനിലെ ഓഗിന്റെ രാജ്യത്തുൾപ്പെട്ട സൽക്കാ, എദ്രെയി എന്നീ പട്ടണങ്ങൾവരെയുള്ള ബാശാൻ മുഴുവനും നാം പിടിച്ചു. -

For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.ബാശാൻ രാജാവായ ഓഗ് മാത്രമേ മല്ലന്മാരിൽ ശേഷിച്ചിരുന്നുള്ളു; ഇരിമ്പുകൊണ്ടുള്ള അവന്റെ മഞ്ചം അമ്മോന്യനഗരമായ രബ്ബയിൽ ഉണ്ടല്ലോ? അതിന്നു പുരുഷന്റെ കൈക്കു ഒമ്പതു മുഴം നീളവും നാലുമുഴം വീതിയും ഉണ്ടു. -

And this land, which we possessed at that time, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, and half mount Gilead, and the cities thereof, gave I unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites.ഈ ദേശം നാം അക്കാലത്തു കൈവശമാക്കി അർന്നോൻ താഴ്വരയരികെയുള്ള അരോവേർമുതൽ ഗിലെയാദ് മലനാട്ടിന്റെ പാതിയും അവിടെയുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളും ഞാൻ രൂബേന്യർക്കും ഗാദ്യർക്കും കൊടുത്തു.

And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, being the kingdom of Og, gave I unto the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants.ശേഷം ഗിലെയാദും ഓഗിന്റെ രാജ്യമായ ബാശാൻ മുഴുവനും അര്ഗ്ഗോബ് ദേശം മുഴുവനും ഞാൻ മനശ്ശെയുടെ പാതിഗോത്രത്തിന്നു കൊടുത്തു. - ബാശാന്നു മുഴുവന്നും മല്ലന്മാരുടെ ദേശം എന്നു പേർ പറയുന്നു.

Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the coasts of Geshuri and Maachathi; and called them after his own name, Bashanhavothjair, unto this day.മനശ്ശെയുടെ മകനായ യായീർ ഗെശൂർയ്യരുടെയും മാഖാത്യരുടെയും അതിർവരെ അര്ഗ്ഗോബ് ദേശം മുഴുവനും പിടിച്ചു തന്റെ പേരിൻ പ്രകാരം ബാശാന്നു ഹവോത്ത് - യായീർ എന്നു പേർ ഇട്ടു; ഇന്നുവരെ ആ പേർ തന്നേ പറഞ്ഞു വരുന്നു.

And I gave Gilead unto Machir.മാഖീരിന്നു ഞാൻ ഗിലെയാദ് ദേശം കൊടുത്തു.

And unto the Reubenites and unto the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon half the valley, and the border even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon;രൂബേന്യർക്കും ഗാദ്യർക്കും ഗിലെയാദ് മുതൽ അർന്നോൻ താഴ്വരയുടെ മദ്ധ്യപ്രദേശവും അതിരും അമ്മോന്യരുടെ അതിരായ യബ്ബോക്ക് തോടുവരെയും

The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast thereof, from Chinnereth even unto the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, under Ashdothpisgah eastward.കിന്നേറെത്ത് തുടങ്ങി കിഴക്കോട്ടു പിസ്ഗയുടെ ചരിവിന്നു താഴെ ഉപ്പുകടലായ അരാബയിലെ കടൽവരെ അരാബയും യോർദ്ദാൻ പ്രദേശവും ഞാൻ കൊടുത്തു.

And I commanded you at that time, saying, The LORD your God has given you this land to possess it: all of you shall pass over armed before your brethren the children of Israel, all that are meet for the war.അക്കാലത്തു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചതു: നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഈ ദേശത്തെ അവകാശമായി തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളിൽ യുദ്ധപ്രാപ്തന്മാരായ എല്ലാവരും യിസ്രായേല്യരായ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കു മുമ്പായി യുദ്ധസന്നദ്ധരായി കടന്നുപോകേണം

But your wives, and your little ones, and your cattle, (for I know that all of you have much cattle,) shall abide in your cities which I have given you;നിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരും മക്കളും നിങ്ങളുടെ ആടുമാടുകളും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള പട്ടണങ്ങളിൽ പാർക്കട്ടെ; ആടുമാടുകൾ നിങ്ങൾക്കു വളരെ ഉണ്ടു എന്നു എനിക്കു അറിയാം.

Until the LORD have given rest unto your brethren, as well as unto you, and until they also possess the land which the LORD your God has given them beyond Jordan: and then shall all of you return every man unto his possession, which I have given you.യഹോവ നിങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരന്മാർക്കും സ്വസ്ഥത നല്കുകയും യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ അവർക്കു കൊടുക്കുന്ന ദേശത്തെ അവർ കൈവശമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുവോളം തന്നേ. പിന്നെ നിങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തൻ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു തന്നിട്ടുള്ള അവകാശത്തിന്നു മടങ്ങിപ്പോരേണം.

And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, Yours eyes have seen all that the LORD your God has done unto these two kings: so shall the LORD do unto all the kingdoms where you pass.അക്കാലത്തു ഞാൻ യോശുവയോടു ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചതു: നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ആ രണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാരോടു ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും നീ കണ്ണാലെ കണ്ടുവല്ലോ; നീ കടന്നുചെല്ലുന്ന സകലരാജ്യങ്ങളോടും യഹോവ അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്യും.

All of you shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.നിങ്ങൾ അവരെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയല്ലോ നിങ്ങൾക്കുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്നതു.

And I besought the LORD at that time, saying,അക്കാലത്തു ഞാൻ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു:

O Lord GOD, you have begun to show your servant your greatness, and your mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to your works, and according to your might?കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, നിന്റെ മഹത്വവും നിന്റെ ഭുജവിര്യവും അടിയനെ കാണിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയല്ലോ; നിന്റെ ക്രിയകൾപോലെയും നിന്റെ വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികൾപോലെയും ചെയ്‍വാൻ കഴിയുന്ന ദൈവം സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിലാകട്ടെ ഭൂമിയിലാകട്ടെ ആരുള്ളു?

I pray you, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon.ഞാൻ കടന്നുചെന്നു യോർദ്ദാന്നക്കരെയുള്ള നല്ല ദേശവും മനോഹരമായ പർവ്വതവും ലെബാനോനും ഒന്നു കണ്ടുകൊള്ളട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁶

But the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice you; speak no more unto me of this matter.എന്നാൽ യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ നിമിത്തം എന്നോടു കോപിച്ചിരുന്നു; എന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടതുമില്ല. യഹോവ എന്നോടു: മതി; ഈ കാര്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഇനി എന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കരുതു;

Get you up into the top of Pisgah, and lift up yours eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and behold it with yours eyes: for you shall not go over this Jordan.പിസ്ഗയുടെ മുകളിൽ കയറി തല പൊക്കി പടിഞ്ഞാറോട്ടും വടക്കോട്ടും തെക്കോട്ടും കിഴക്കോട്ടും നോക്കിക്കാൺക;

But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you shall see.ഈ യോർദ്ദാൻ നീ കടക്കയില്ല; യോശുവയോടു കല്പിച്ചു അവനെ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുത്തി ഉറപ്പിക്ക; അവൻ നായകനായി ഈ ജനത്തെ അക്കരെ കടത്തും; നീ കാണുന്ന ദേശം അവൻ അവർക്കു അവകാശമായി പങ്കിട്ടു കൊടുക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

So we abode in the valley opposite to Bethpeor.അങ്ങനെ നാം ബേത്ത്--പെയോരിന്നെതിരെ താഴ്വരയിൽ പാർത്തു.
