Proverbs 6

English: My son, if you be guarantor for your friend, if you have stricken your hand with a stranger,

Malayalam: മകനേ, കൂട്ടുകാരന്നു വേണ്ടി നീ ജാമ്യം നിൽക്കയോ അന്യന്നു വേണ്ടി കയ്യടിക്കയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ,

English: You are snared with the words of your mouth, you are taken with the words of your mouth.

Malayalam: നിന്റെ വായിലെ വാക്കുകളാൽ നീ കുടുങ്ങിപ്പോയി; നിന്റെ വായിലെ മൊഴികളാൽ പിടിപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

English: Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, when you are come into the hand of your friend; go, humble yourself, and make sure your friend.

Malayalam: ആകയാൽ മകനേ, ഇതു ചെയ്ക; നിന്നെത്തന്നേ വിടുവിക്ക; കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ കയ്യിൽ നീ അകപ്പെട്ടുപോയല്ലോ; നീ ചെന്നു, താണുവീണു കൂട്ടുകാരനോടു മുട്ടിച്ചപേക്ഷിക്ക.

English: Give not sleep to yours eyes, nor slumber to yours eyelids.

Malayalam: നിന്റെ കണ്ണിന്നു ഉറക്കവും നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമെക്കു നിദ്രയും കൊടുക്കരുതു.

English: Deliver yourself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Malayalam: മാൻ നായാട്ടുകാരന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും പക്ഷി വേട്ടക്കാരന്റെ കയ്യിൽനിന്നും എന്നപോലെ നീ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ വിടുവിക്ക,

English: Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

Malayalam: മടിയാ, ഉറുമ്പിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുക; അതിന്റെ വഴികളെ നോക്കി ബുദ്ധിപഠിക്ക.

English: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

Malayalam: അതിന്നു നായകനും മേൽവിചാരകനും അധിപതിയും ഇല്ലാതിരുന്നിട്ടും

English: Provides her food in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.

Malayalam: വേനൽക്കാലത്തു തന്റെ ആഹാരം ഒരുക്കുന്നു; കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു തന്റെ തീൻ ശേഖരിക്കുന്നു.

English: How long will you sleep, O sluggard? when will you arise out of your sleep?

Malayalam: മടിയാ, നീ എത്രനേരം കിടന്നുറങ്ങും? എപ്പോൾ ഉറക്കത്തിൽ നിന്നെഴുന്നേല്ക്കും?

English: Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

Malayalam: കുറേക്കൂടെ ഉറക്കം; കുറേക്കൂടെ നിദ്ര; കുറെക്കൂടെ കൈകെട്ടിക്കിടക്ക.

English: So shall your poverty come as one that travels, and your lack as an armed man.

Malayalam: അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം വഴിപോക്കനെപ്പോലെയും നിന്റെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടു ആയുധപാണിയെപ്പോലെയും വരും.

English: A naughty person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth.

Malayalam: നിസ്സാരനും ദുഷ്കർമ്മിയുമായവൻ വായുടെ വക്രതയോടെ നടക്കുന്നു.

English: He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers;

Malayalam: അവൻ കണ്ണിമെക്കുന്നു; കാൽകൊണ്ടു പരണ്ടുന്നു; വിരൽകൊണ്ടു ആംഗ്യം കാണിക്കുന്നു.

English: Perverseness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows discord.

Malayalam: അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ വക്രതയുണ്ടു; അവൻ എല്ലായ്പോഴും ദോഷം നിരൂപിച്ചു വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നു.

English: Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

Malayalam: അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്റെ ആപത്തു പെട്ടെന്നു വരും; ക്ഷണത്തിൽ അവൻ തകർന്നുപോകും; പ്രതിശാന്തിയുണ്ടാകയുമില്ല.

English: These six things does the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

Malayalam: ആറു കാര്യം യഹോവ വെറുക്കുന്നു; ഏഴു കാര്യം അവന്നു അറെപ്പാകുന്നു:

English: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

Malayalam: ഗർവ്വമുള്ള കണ്ണും വ്യാജമുള്ള നാവും കുറ്റമില്ലാത്ത രക്തം ചൊരിയുന്ന കയ്യും

English: An heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

Malayalam: ദുരുപായം നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ഹൃദയവും ദോഷത്തിന്നു ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ഓടുന്ന കാലും

English: A false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren.

Malayalam: ഭോഷ്കു പറയുന്ന കള്ളസാക്ഷിയും സഹോദരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ വഴക്കുണ്ടാക്കുന്നവനും തന്നേ.

English: My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not the law of your mother:

Malayalam: മകനേ, നിന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്ക; അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയുമരുതു.

English: Bind them continually upon yours heart, and tie them about your neck.

Malayalam: അതു എല്ലായ്പോഴും നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ബന്ധിച്ചുകൊൾക; നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിൽ അതു കെട്ടിക്കൊൾക.

English: When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and when you awake, it shall talk with you.

Malayalam: നീ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ അതു നിനക്കു വഴികാണിക്കും. നീ ഉറങ്ങുമ്പോൾ അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; നീ ഉണരുമ്പോൾ അതു നിന്നോടു സംസാരിക്കും.

English: For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Malayalam: കല്പന ഒരു ദീപവും ഉപദേശം ഒരു വെളിച്ചവും പ്രബോധനത്തിന്റെ ശാസനകൾ ജീവന്റെ മാർഗ്ഗവും ആകുന്നു.

English: To keep you from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

Malayalam: അവ ദുഷ്ടസ്ത്രീയുടെ വശീകരണത്തിൽനിന്നും പരസ്ത്രീയുടെ ചക്കരവാക്കുകളിൽനിന്നും നിന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും.

English: Lust not after her beauty in yours heart; neither let her take you with her eyelids.

Malayalam: അവളുടെ സൌന്ദര്യത്തെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ മോഹിക്കരുതു; അവൾ കണ്ണിമകൊണ്ടു നിന്നെ വശീകരിക്കയുമരുതു.

English: For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.

Malayalam: വേശ്യാസ്ത്രീനിമിത്തം പെറുക്കിത്തിന്നേണ്ടിവരും; വ്യഭിചാരിണി വിലയേറിയ ജീവനെ വേട്ടയാടുന്നു.

English: Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

Malayalam: ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്നു തന്റെ വസ്ത്രം വെന്തു പോകാതെ മടിയിൽ തീ കൊണ്ടുവരാമോ?

English: Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

Malayalam: ഒരുത്തന്നു കാൽ പൊള്ളാതെ തീക്കനലിന്മേൽ നടക്കാമോ?

English: So he that goes in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever touches her shall not be innocent.

Malayalam: കൂട്ടുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുന്നവൻ ഇങ്ങനെ തന്നേ; അവളെ തൊടുന്ന ഒരുത്തനും ശിക്ഷവരാതെയിരിക്കയില്ല.

English: Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

Malayalam: കള്ളൻ വിശന്നിട്ടു വിശപ്പടക്കുവാൻ മാത്രം കട്ടാൽ ആരും അവനെ നിരസിക്കുന്നില്ല.

English: But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

Malayalam: അവനെ പിടികിട്ടിയാൽ അവൻ ഏഴിരട്ടി മടക്കിക്കൊടുക്കാം; തന്റെ വീട്ടിലെ വസ്തുവക ഒക്കെയും കൊടുക്കാം;

English: But whoso commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: he that does it destroys his own soul.

Malayalam: സ്ത്രീയോടു വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നവനോ, ബുദ്ധിഹീനൻ; അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നവൻ സ്വന്തപ്രാണനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

English: A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

Malayalam: പ്രഹരവും അപമാനവും അവന്നു ലഭിക്കും; അവന്റെ നിന്ദ മാഞ്ഞുപോകയുമില്ല.

English: For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

Malayalam: ജാരശങ്ക പുരുഷന്നു ക്രോധഹേതുവാകുന്നു; പ്രതികാരദിവസത്തിൽ അവൻ ഇളെക്കുകയില്ല.

English: He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.

Malayalam: അവൻ യാതൊരു പ്രതിശാന്തിയും കൈക്കൊള്ളുകയില്ല; എത്ര സമ്മാനം കൊടുത്താലും അവൻ തൃപ്തിപ്പെടുകയുമില്ല.
