Proverbs 1

English: The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

Malayalam: യിസ്രായേൽരാജാവായി ദാവീദിന്റെ മകനായ ശലോമോന്റെ സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങൾ.

English: To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

Malayalam: ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും പ്രാപിപ്പാനും വിവേകവചനങ്ങളെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും

English: To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

Malayalam: പരിജ്ഞാനം, നീതി, ന്യായം, നേർ എന്നിവെക്കായി പ്രബോധനം ലഭിപ്പാനും

English: To give subtlety to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

Malayalam: അല്പബുദ്ധികൾക്കു സൂക്ഷ്മബുദ്ധിയും ബാലന്നു പരിജ്ഞാനവും വകതിരിവും നല്കുവാനും

English: A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

Malayalam: ജ്ഞാനി കേട്ടിട്ടു വിദ്യാഭിവൃദ്ധിപ്രാപിപ്പാനും, ബുദ്ധിമാൻ സദുപദേശം സമ്പാദിപ്പാനും

English: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

Malayalam: സദൃശവാക്യങ്ങളും അലങ്കാരവചനങ്ങളും ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ മൊഴികളും കടങ്കഥകളും മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാനും അവ ഉതകുന്നു.

English: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Malayalam: യഹോവാഭക്തി ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ ആരംഭമാകുന്നു; ഭോഷന്മാരോ ജ്ഞാനവും പ്രബോധനവും നിരസിക്കുന്നു.

English: My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother:

Malayalam: മകനേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേൾക്ക. അമ്മയുടെ ഉപദേശം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കയുമരുതു;

English: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto your head, and chains about your neck.

Malayalam: അവ നിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിന്നു അലങ്കാരമാലയും നിന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്നു സരപ്പളിയും ആയിരിക്കും.

English: My son, if sinners entice you, consent you not.

Malayalam: മകനേ, പാപികൾ നിന്നെ വശീകരിച്ചാൽ വഴിപ്പെട്ടുപോകരുതു.

English: If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privately for the innocent without cause:

Malayalam: ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ വരിക; നാം രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്ക; നിർദ്ദോഷിയെ കാരണം കൂടാതെ പിടിപ്പാൻ ഒളിച്ചിരിക്ക.

English: Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

Malayalam: പാതാളംപോലെ അവരെ ജീവനോടെയും കുഴിയിൽ ഇറങ്ങുന്നവരെപ്പോലെ അവരെ സർവ്വാംഗമായും വിഴുങ്ങിക്കളക.

English: We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

Malayalam: നമുക്കു വലിയേറിയ സമ്പത്തൊക്കെയും കിട്ടും; നമ്മുടെ വീടുകളെ കൊള്ളകൊണ്ടു നിറെക്കാം.

English: Cast in your lot among us; let us all have one purse:

Malayalam: നിനക്കു ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ സമാംശം കിട്ടും; നമുക്കു എല്ലാവർക്കും സഞ്ചി ഒന്നായിരിക്കും; എന്നിങ്ങനെ അവർ പറഞ്ഞാൽ;

English: My son, walk not you in the way with them; refrain your foot from their path:

Malayalam: മകനേ, നീ അവരുടെ വഴിക്കു പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ കാൽ അവരുടെ പാതയിൽ വെക്കയുമരുതു.

English: For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

Malayalam: അവരുടെ കാൽ ദോഷം ചെയ്‍വാൻ ഓടുന്നു; രക്തം ചൊരിയിപ്പാൻ അവർ ബദ്ധപ്പെടുന്നു.

English: Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

Malayalam: പക്ഷി കാൺകെ വലവിരിക്കുന്നതു വ്യർത്ഥമല്ലോ.

English: And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privately for their own lives.

Malayalam: അവർ സ്വന്ത രക്തത്തിന്നായി പതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; സ്വന്തപ്രാണഹാനിക്കായി ഒളിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

English: So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of the owners thereof.

Malayalam: ദുരാഗ്രഹികളായ ഏവരുടെയും വഴികൾ അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ; അതു അവരുടെ ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയുന്നു.

English: Wisdom cries without; she utters her voice in the streets:

Malayalam: ജ്ഞാനമായവൾ വീഥിയിൽ ഘോഷിക്കുന്നു; വിശാലസ്ഥലത്തു സ്വരം കേൾപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

English: She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she utters her words, saying,

Malayalam: അവൾ ആരവമുള്ള തെരുക്കളുടെ തലെക്കൽ നിന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു; നഗരദ്വാരങ്ങളിലും നഗരത്തിന്നകത്തും പ്രസ്താവിക്കുന്നതു:

English: How long, all of you simple ones, will all of you love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Malayalam: ബുദ്ധിഹീനരേ, നിങ്ങൾ ബുദ്ധീഹിനതയിൽ രസിക്കയും പരിഹാസികളേ, നിങ്ങൾ പരിഹാസത്തിൽ സന്തോഷിക്കയും ഭോഷന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങൾ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതു എത്രത്തോളം?

English: Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Malayalam: എന്റെ ശാസനെക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ; ഞാൻ എന്റെ മനസ്സു നിങ്ങൾക്കു പൊഴിച്ചു തരും; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെ അറിയിക്കും.

English: Because I have called, and all of you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

Malayalam: ഞാൻ വിളിച്ചിട്ടു നിങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കാതെയും ഞാൻ കൈ നീട്ടീട്ടു ആരും കൂട്ടാക്കാതെയും

English: But all of you have set at nothing all my counsel, and refused my reproof:

Malayalam: നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ആലോചന ഒക്കെയും ത്യജിച്ചുകളകയും എന്റെ ശാസനയെ ഒട്ടും അനുസരിക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു

English: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes;

Malayalam: ഞാനും നിങ്ങളുടെ അനർത്ഥദിവസത്തിൽ ചിരിക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു ഭവിക്കുമ്പോൾ പരിഹസിക്കും.

English: When your fear comes as desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish comes upon you.

Malayalam: നിങ്ങൾ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നതു നിങ്ങൾക്കു കൊടുങ്കാറ്റുപോലെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ ആപത്തു ചുഴലിക്കാറ്റുപോലെയും വരുമ്പോൾ, കഷ്ടവും സങ്കടവും നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ.

English: Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Malayalam: അപ്പോൾ അവർ എന്നെ വിളിക്കും; ഞാൻ ഉത്തരം പറകയില്ല. എന്നെ ജാഗ്രതയോടെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; കണ്ടെത്തുകയുമില്ല.

English: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

Malayalam: അവർ പരിജ്ഞാനത്തെ വെറുത്തല്ലോ; യഹോവാഭക്തിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.

English: They refused my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

Malayalam: അവർ എന്റെ ആലോചന അനുസരിക്കാതെ എന്റെ ശാസന ഒക്കെയും നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞതുകൊണ്ടു

English: Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Malayalam: അവർ സ്വന്തവഴിയുടെ ഫലം അനുഭവിക്കയും തങ്ങളുടെ ആലോചനകളാൽ തൃപ്തി പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.

English: For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

Malayalam: ബുദ്ധിഹീനരുടെ പിന്മാറ്റം അവരെ കൊല്ലും; ഭോഷന്മാരുടെ നിശ്ചിന്ത അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കും.

English: But whoso hearkens unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Malayalam: എന്റെ വാക്കു കേൾക്കുന്നവനോ നിർഭയം വസിക്കയും ദോഷഭയം കൂടാതെ സ്വൈരമായിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യും.
