Psalms 78

English: Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

Malayalam: എന്റെ ജനമേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിൻ; എന്റെ വായ്മൊഴികൾക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ ചെവി ചായിപ്പിൻ.

English: I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

Malayalam: ഞാൻ ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാൻ വായ് തുറക്കും; പുരാതനകടങ്കഥകളെ ഞാൻ പറയും.

English: Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.

Malayalam: നാം അവയെ കേട്ടറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ നമ്മോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

English: We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he has done.

Malayalam: നാം അവരുടെ മക്കളോടു അവയെ മറെച്ചുവെക്കാതെ വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറയോടു യഹോവയുടെ സ്തുതിയും ബലവും അവൻ ചെയ്ത അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളും വിവരിച്ചുപറയും.

English: For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

Malayalam: അവൻ യാക്കോബിൽ ഒരു സാക്ഷ്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം നിയമിച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അവയെ തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.

English: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

Malayalam: വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറ, ജനിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കൾ തന്നേ, അവയെ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോടറിയിക്കയും

English: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:

Malayalam: അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്രയം ദൈവത്തിൽ വെക്കുകയും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ മറന്നുകളയാതെ അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുനടക്കയും

English: And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

Malayalam: തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപോലെ ശാഠ്യവും മത്സരവും ഉള്ള തലമുറയായി ഹൃദയത്തെ സ്ഥിരമാക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തോടു അവിശ്വസ്തമനസ്സുള്ളോരു തലമുറയായി തീരാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.

English: The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

Malayalam: ആയുധം ധരിച്ച വില്ലാളികളായ എഫ്രയീമ്യർ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിൽ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞുപോയി.

English: They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;

Malayalam: അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല. അവന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു നടന്നു.

English: And forgotten about his works, and his wonders that he had showed them.

Malayalam: അവർ അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെയും അവരെ കാണിച്ച അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും മറന്നു കളഞ്ഞു.

English: Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.

Malayalam: അവൻ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു, സോവാൻ വയലിൽവെച്ചു അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ കാൺകെ, അത്ഭുതം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.

English: He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.

Malayalam: അവൻ സമുദ്രത്തെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു, അതിൽകൂടി അവരെ കടത്തി; അവൻ വെള്ളത്തെ ചിറപോലെ നില്ക്കുമാറാക്കി.

English: In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.

Malayalam: പകൽസമയത്തു അവൻ മേഘംകൊണ്ടും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അഗ്നിപ്രകാശംകൊണ്ടും അവരെ നടത്തി.

English: He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.

Malayalam: അവൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പാറകളെ പിളർന്നു ആഴികളാൽ എന്നപോലെ അവർക്കു ധാരാളം കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുത്തു.

English: He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.

Malayalam: പാറയിൽനിന്നു അവൻ ഒഴുക്കുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; വെള്ളം നദികളെപ്പോലെ ഒഴുകുമാറാക്കി.

English: And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.

Malayalam: എങ്കിലും അവർ അവനോടു പാപം ചെയ്തു; അത്യുന്നതനോടു മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.

English: And they tempted God in their heart by asking food for their lust.

Malayalam: തങ്ങളുടെ കൊതിക്കു ഭക്ഷണം ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു അവർ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു.

English: Yea, they spoke against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?

Malayalam: അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചു: മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മേശ ഒരുക്കുവാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്നു കഴിയുമോ?

English: Behold, he stroke the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

Malayalam: അവൻ പാറയെ അടിച്ചു, വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു, തോടുകളും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകി സത്യം; എന്നാൽ അപ്പംകൂടെ തരുവാൻ അവന്നു കഴിയുമോ? തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു അവൻ മാംസം വരുത്തി കൊടുക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

English: Therefore the LORD heard this, and was angry: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;

Malayalam: ആകയാൽ യഹോവ അതു കേട്ടു കോപിച്ചു; യാക്കോബിന്റെ നേരെ തീ ജ്വലിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ കോപവും പൊങ്ങി.

English: Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:

Malayalam: അവർ ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കയും അവന്റെ രക്ഷയിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കയും ചെയ്യായ്കയാൽ തന്നേ.

English: Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

Malayalam: അവൻ മീതെ മേഘങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചു; ആകാശത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു.

English: And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.

Malayalam: അവർക്കു തിന്മാൻ മന്ന വർഷിപ്പിച്ചു; സ്വർഗ്ഗീയധാന്യം അവർക്കു കൊടുത്തു.

English: Man did eat angels' food: he sent them food to the full.

Malayalam: മനുഷ്യർ ശക്തിമാന്മാരുടെ അപ്പം തിന്നു; അവൻ അവർക്കു തൃപ്തിയാകുംവണ്ണം ആഹാരം അയച്ചു.

English: He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.

Malayalam: അവൻ ആകാശത്തിൽ കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റു അടിപ്പിച്ചു; തന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റു വരുത്തി.

English: He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like the sand of the sea:

Malayalam: അവൻ അവർക്കു പൊടിപോലെ മാംസത്തെയും കടൽപുറത്തെ മണൽപോലെ പക്ഷികളെയും വർഷിപ്പിച്ചു;

English: And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.

Malayalam: അവരുടെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലും പാർപ്പിടങ്ങളുടെ ചുറ്റിലും അവയെ പൊഴിച്ചു.

English: So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;

Malayalam: അങ്ങനെ അവർ തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായ്തീർന്നു; അവർ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതു അവൻ അവർക്കു കൊടുത്തു.

English: They were not cut off from their lust. But while their food was yet in their mouths,

Malayalam: അവരുടെ കൊതിക്കു മതിവന്നില്ല; ഭക്ഷണം അവരുടെ വായിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ,

English: The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and stroke down the chosen men of Israel.

Malayalam: ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കോപം അവരുടെമേൽ വന്നു; അവരുടെ അതിപുഷ്ടന്മാരിൽ ചിലരെ കൊന്നു യിസ്രായേലിലെ യൌവനക്കാരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.

English: For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.

Malayalam: ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും അവർ പിന്നെയും പാപം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളെ വിശ്വസിച്ചതുമില്ല.

English: Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.

Malayalam: അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ അവരുടെ നാളുകളെ ശ്വാസംപോലെയും അവരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളെ അതിവേഗത്തിലും കഴിയുമാറാക്കി.

English: When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവരെ കൊല്ലുമ്പോൾ അവർ അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; അവർ തിരിഞ്ഞു ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ദൈവത്തെ തിരയും.

English: And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

Malayalam: ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ പാറ എന്നും അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരൻ എന്നും അവർ ഓർക്കും.

English: Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.

Malayalam: എങ്കിലും അവർ വായ്കൊണ്ടു അവനോടു കപടം സംസാരിക്കും നാവുകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ഭോഷ്കുപറയും.

English: For their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant.

Malayalam: അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അവങ്കൽ സ്ഥിരമായിരുന്നില്ല, അവന്റെ നിയമത്തോടു അവർ വിശ്വസ്തത കാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.

English: But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.

Malayalam: എങ്കിലും അവൻ കരുണയുള്ളവനാകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിച്ചു; തന്റെ ക്രോധത്തെ മുഴുവനും ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കാതെ തന്റെ കോപത്തെ പലപ്പോഴും അടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

English: For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passes away, and comes not again.

Malayalam: അവർ ജഡമത്രേ എന്നും മടങ്ങിവരാതെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കാറ്റു എന്നും അവൻ ഓർത്തു.

English: How often did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!

Malayalam: മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അവർ എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം അവനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു! ശൂന്യപ്രദേശത്തു എത്രപ്രാവശ്യം അവനെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു!

English: Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

Malayalam: അവർ പിന്നെയും പിന്നെയും ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ മുഷിപ്പിച്ചു.

English: They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

Malayalam: മിസ്രയീമിൽ അടയാളങ്ങളെയും സോവാൻ വയലിൽ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും ചെയ്ത അവന്റെ കയ്യും

English: How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan.

Malayalam: അവൻ ശത്രുവിൻ വശത്തുനിന്നു അവരെ വിടുവിച്ച ദിവസവും അവർ ഓർത്തില്ല.

English: And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവരുടെ നദികളെയും തോടുകളെയും അവർക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ വഹിയാതവണ്ണം രക്തമാക്കി തീർത്തു.

English: He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഈച്ചയെ അയച്ചു; അവ അവരെ അരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു: തവളയെയും അയച്ചു അവ അവർക്കു നാശം ചെയ്തു.

English: He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust.

Malayalam: അവരുടെ വിള അവൻ തുള്ളന്നും അവരുടെ പ്രയത്നം വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കും കൊടുത്തു.

English: He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവരുടെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളികളെ കൽമഴകൊണ്ടും അവരുടെ കാട്ടത്തിവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെ ആലിപ്പഴം കൊണ്ടും നശിപ്പിച്ചു.

English: He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ കൽമഴെക്കും അവരുടെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ ഇടിത്തീക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചു.

English: He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ തന്റെ കോപാഗ്നിയും ക്രോധവും രോഷവും കഷ്ടവും അയച്ചു; അനർത്ഥദൂതന്മാരുടെ ഒരു ഗണത്തെ തന്നേ.

English: He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;

Malayalam: അവൻ തന്റെ കോപത്തിന്നു ഒരു പാത ഒരുക്കി, അവരുടെ പ്രാണനെ മരണത്തിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ ജീവനെ മഹാമാരിക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

English: And stroke all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:

Malayalam: അവൻ മിസ്രയീമിലെ എല്ലാ കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെയും ഹാംകൂടാരങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരുടെ വീര്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രഥമഫലത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.

English: But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.

Malayalam: എന്നാൽ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ അവൻ ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ അവരെ നടത്തി.

English: And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവരെ നിർഭയമായി നടത്തുകയാൽ അവർക്കു പേടിയുണ്ടായില്ല; അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ സമുദ്രം മൂടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

English: And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.

Malayalam: അവൻ അവരെ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധദേശത്തിലേക്കും തന്റെ വലങ്കൈ സമ്പാദിച്ച ഈ പർവ്വതത്തിലേക്കും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

English: He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.

Malayalam: അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു അവൻ ജാതികളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ചരടുകൊണ്ടു അളന്നു അവർക്കു അവകാശം പകുത്തുകൊടുത്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെ അവരവരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ പാർപ്പിച്ചു.

English: Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:

Malayalam: എങ്കിലും അവർ അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.

English: But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.

Malayalam: അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു; വഞ്ചനയുള്ള വില്ലുപോലെ അവർ മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.

English: For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.

Malayalam: അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പൂജാഗിരികളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവനെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു; വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്നു തീക്ഷ്ണത ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.

English: When God heard this, he was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel:

Malayalam: ദൈവം കേട്ടു ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഏറ്റവും വെറുത്തു.

English: So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;

Malayalam: ആകയാൽ അവൻ ശീലോവിലെ തിരുനിവാസവും താൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അടിച്ചിരുന്ന കൂടാരവും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.

English: And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy's hand.

Malayalam: തന്റെ ബലത്തെ പ്രവാസത്തിലും തന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.

English: He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was angry with his inheritance.

Malayalam: അവൻ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു കോപിച്ചു; തന്റെ ജനത്തെ വാളിന്നു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.

English: The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.

Malayalam: അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാർ തീക്കു ഇരയായിതീർന്നു; അവരുടെ കന്യകമാർക്കു വിവാഹഗീതം ഉണ്ടായതുമില്ല.

English: Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.

Malayalam: അവരുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ വാൾകൊണ്ടു വീണു; അവരുടെ വിധവമാർ വിലാപം കഴിച്ചതുമില്ല.

English: Then the LORD awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouts by reason of wine.

Malayalam: അപ്പോൾ കർത്താവു ഉറക്കുണർന്നുവരുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു അട്ടഹസിക്കുന്ന വീരനെപ്പോലെയും ഉണർന്നു.

English: And he stroke his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.

Malayalam: അവൻ തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ പുറകോട്ടു അടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവർക്കു നിത്യനിന്ദവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.

English: Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:

Malayalam: എന്നാൽ അവൻ യോസേഫിന്റെ കൂടാരത്തെ ത്യജിച്ചു; എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.

English: But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.

Malayalam: അവൻ യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തെയും താൻ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സീയോൻ പർവ്വതത്തെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

English: And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he has established for ever.

Malayalam: താൻ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയെപ്പോലെയും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗോന്നതികളെപ്പോലെയും അവൻ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തെ പണിതു.

English: He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:

Malayalam: അവൻ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ആട്ടിൻ തൊഴുത്തുകളിൽനിന്നു അവനെ വരുത്തി.

English: From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.

Malayalam: തന്റെ ജനമായ യാക്കോബിനെയും തന്റെ അവകാശമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെയും മേയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ അവനെ തള്ളയാടുകളെ നോക്കുന്ന വേലയിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

English: So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

Malayalam: അങ്ങനെ അവൻ പരമാർത്ഥഹൃദയത്തോടെ അവരെ മേയിച്ചു; കൈമിടുക്കോടെ അവരെ നടത്തി.
