Ecclesiastes 8

English: Who is as the wise man? and who knows the interpretation of a thing? a man's wisdom makes his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.

Malayalam: ജ്ഞാനിക്കു തുല്യനായിട്ടു ആരുള്ളു? കാര്യത്തിന്റെ പൊരുൾ അറിയുന്നവർ ആർ? മനുഷ്യന്റെ ജ്ഞാനം അവന്റെ മുഖത്തെ പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു; അവന്റെ മുഖത്തെ കാഠിന്യം മാറിപ്പോകുന്നു.

English: I counsel you to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God.

Malayalam: ദൈവസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെയ്ത സത്യം ഓർത്തിട്ടു രാജാവിന്റെ കല്പന പ്രമാണിച്ചുകൊള്ളേണം എന്നു ഞാൻ പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

English: Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he does whatsoever pleases him.

Malayalam: നീ അവന്റെ സന്നിധി വിട്ടുപോകുവാൻ ബദ്ധപ്പെടരുതു; ഒരു ദുഷ്കാര്യത്തിലും ഇടപെടരുതു; അവൻ തനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളതൊക്കെയും ചെയ്യുമല്ലോ.

English: Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What do you?

Malayalam: രാജകല്പന ബലമുള്ളതു; നീ എന്തു ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു ആർ ചോദിക്കും?

English: Whoso keeps the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerns both time and judgment.

Malayalam: കല്പന പ്രമാണിക്കുന്നവന്നു ഒരു ദോഷവും സംഭവിക്കയില്ല; ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ ഹൃദയം കാലത്തെയും ന്യായത്തെയും വിവേചിക്കുന്നു.

English: Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.

Malayalam: സകല കാര്യത്തിന്നും കാലവും ന്യായവും ഉണ്ടല്ലോ; മനുഷ്യന്റെ അരിഷ്ടത അവന്നു ഭാരമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

English: For he knows not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?

Malayalam: സംഭവിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്നതു അവൻ അറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ; അതു എങ്ങനെ സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു അവനോടു ആർ അറിയിക്കും?

English: There is no man that has power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither has he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.

Malayalam: ആത്മാവിനെ തടുപ്പാൻ ആത്മാവിന്മേൽ അധികാരമുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യനുമില്ല; മരണ ദിവസത്തിന്മേൽ അധികാരമുള്ളവനുമില്ല; യുദ്ധത്തിൽ സേവാവിമോചനവുമില്ല; ദുഷ്ടത ദുഷ്ടന്മാരെ വിടുവിക്കയുമില്ല.

English: All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man rules over another to his own hurt.

Malayalam: ഇതൊക്കെയും ഞാൻ കണ്ടു; മനുഷ്യന്നു മനുഷ്യന്റെ മേൽ അവന്റെ ദോഷത്തിന്നായി അധികാരമുള്ള കാലത്തു സൂര്യന്നു കീഴെ നടക്കുന്ന സകലപ്രവൃത്തിയിലും ഞാൻ ദൃഷ്ടിവെച്ചു ദുഷ്ടന്മാർ അടക്കം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു വിശ്രാമം പ്രാപിക്കുന്നതും

English: And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.

Malayalam: നേർ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചവർ വിശുദ്ധസ്ഥലം വിട്ടുപോകേണ്ടിവരികയും പട്ടണത്തിൽ മറക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നതും ഞാൻ കണ്ടു; അതും മായ അത്രേ.

English: Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Malayalam: ദുഷ്‌പ്രവൃത്തിക്കുള്ള ശിക്ഷാവിധി തൽക്ഷണം നടക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു മനുഷ്യർ ദോഷം ചെയ്‍വാൻ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുന്നു.

English: Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:

Malayalam: പാപി നൂറു പ്രാവശ്യം ദോഷം ചെയ്കയും ദീർഘായുസ്സോടെ ഇരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്ന ഭക്തന്മാർക്കു നന്മ വരുമെന്നു ഞാൻ നിശ്ചയമായി അറിയുന്നു.

English: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he fears not before God.

Malayalam: എന്നാൽ ദുഷ്ടന്നു നന്മ വരികയില്ല; അവൻ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടായ്കയാൽ നിഴൽപോലെ അവന്റെ ആയുസ്സു ദീർഘമാകയില്ല.

English: There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.

Malayalam: ഭൂമിയിൽ നടക്കുന്ന ഒരുമായ ഉണ്ടു: നീതിമാന്മാർക്കു ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു യോഗ്യമായതു ഭവിക്കുന്നു; ദുഷ്ടന്മാർക്കു നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിക്കു യോഗ്യമായതും ഭവിക്കുന്നു; അതും മായ അത്രേ എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

English: Then I commended delight, because a man has no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God gives him under the sun.

Malayalam: ആകയാൽ ഞാൻ സന്തോഷത്തെ പ്രശംസിച്ചു; തിന്നു കുടിച്ചു സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നതല്ലാതെ മനുഷ്യന്നു സൂര്യന്റെ കീഴിൽ മറ്റൊരു നന്മയുമില്ലല്ലോ; ദൈവം സൂര്യന്റെ കീഴിൽ അവന്നു നല്കുന്ന ആയുഷ്കാലത്തു അവന്റെ പ്രയത്നത്തിൽ അവനോടുകൂടെ നിലനില്ക്കുന്നതു ഇതുമാത്രമേയുള്ളു.

English: When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night sees sleep with his eyes:)

Malayalam: ഭൂമിയിൽ നടക്കുന്ന കാര്യം കാണ്മാനും -- മനുഷ്യന്നു രാവും പകലും കണ്ണിൽ ഉറക്കം വരുന്നില്ലല്ലോ -- ജ്ഞാനം ഗ്രഹിപ്പാനും ഞാൻ മനസ്സുവെച്ചപ്പോൾ

English: Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

Malayalam: സൂര്യന്റെ കീഴിൽ നടക്കുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തി ആരാഞ്ഞറിവാൻ മനുഷ്യന്നു കഴിവില്ല എന്നിങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സകല പ്രവൃത്തിയെയും കണ്ടു; മനുഷ്യൻ എത്ര പ്രയാസപ്പെട്ടു അന്വേഷിച്ചാലും അതിനെ ഗ്രഹിക്കയില്ല; ഒരു ജ്ഞാനി തന്നേയും അതിനെ ഗ്രഹിപ്പാൻ നിരൂപിച്ചാൽ അവന്നു സാധിക്കയില്ല.
